Albus Dumbledore's POV
"Are you sure this is… wise?" Severus asked from his dark corner. "Giving the child of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named an invitation to this school could prove disastrous, especially if He is still out there, waiting for his chance to return."
"He is not like Tom Riddle." I said, placing my wand on the side of my head. My wand began drawing out my memories from the tip, and I placed them into the pensieve. "At least, not at first glance. Still, you should be careful," I said, switching my gaze to Severus. "He is a natural legilimens, and a powerful one at that. He will try to invade your mind."
Severus gave out a rough grunt in thought before stating "I still must object to his acceptance into Hogwarts. If he is at all like his father, it could prove disastrous for the Wizarding World."
"Then you shall just have to watch him once he becomes a member of House Slytherin."
"I suppose I shall…"
As Severus began making his way out the door, I made one more point. "Severus, one more thing,"
"Yes?" he asked.
I pictured the steely-grey eyes of the boy as he stared into my own. His mind was build like an impenetrable fortress of stone and steel. The only thing he let escape the gates to his mind was his amusement, and maybe a bit of intrigue. "I believe he man be an occlumens, as well. You won't discover anything by trying to invade his mind."
"How is that possible?" He asked. "Who could have taught him how to guard his mind from a legilimens?"
I chuckled. "I don't believe anyone taught him at all. I believe he is a natural occlumens."
"Impossible. Nobody is born an occlumens."
"Go ahead and try to read his mind. I assure you, you will only find frustration."
Severus paused for quite some time before he finally left the room, noisily stomping out the door.
My thoughts drew me back to the boy, and then Tom Riddle. In many ways, they were so alike, it was uncanny, but then Corvus would say something so unpredictable, so off putting, that any semblance he had with his father would fade away, as if the similarities were never there.
"What secrets are you hiding, Corvus? And why do you hide them?"
