Chapter 21: The Chaos Vortex + DLC: Shadows of Adventure's Past

Music playing: Solo Menu (Viridi)

Pit searched around the Arms Alter to find the weapon he needed for the battle to save Palutena. Viridi was standing at the entrance of it waiting for the angel. "Can you hurry this up?" she grumbled. "We're on a tight schedule here!" "Hold on! I just need to find it!" Pit replied. He continued to search for the weapon. Then, he found the touch of its familiar design. "Yes! I found it!" he exclaimed as he picked the Palutena Bow. "Hey! Isn't that the bow you always used back in the day?" Viridi asked upon seeing the weapon. "Yep! I used it back in the Brawl!" Pit replied. "Ugh... Let's not talk about that right now," Viridi sighed. "If we do, Devil Pit will get mad at us." "Yeah, you're right," Pit agreed. "Although I did had an old bow 25 years ago, but it didn't split in two parts." "Yeah. It WAS pretty sad," said Viridi. "That old bow was like shooting straws with a rubber band." "Ugh, I still can't believe I had to use that stupid thing!" Pit groaned. "How do you think you'd fare today if you had to use that old bow?" Viridi asked. "I'd be finished," Pit replied. "I guess some things never change," said Viridi. But then Pit noticed something. "Wait... Doesn't this conversation sounded a bit familiar?" he asked. "Now that I think about it, it does..." Viridi wondered. "But there's no time to think about it! We better save Palutena from Devil Pit and the Chaos Kin!" "Right!" Pit affirmed as he rushed to the door with his weapon equipped. "Hold on, Lady Palutena! I'm coming for you!" He then flew into the outside of Palutena's temple to enter the crack. "Dark Pit has gone up ahead," Viridi pointed out.

Music stops and switches to: The Chaos Vortex

Pit then entered the crack and arrived at the Chaos Vortex. "This is total chaos," he said in fear. "Hence the name 'Chaos Vortex,'" Viridi replied. While Pit was facing some enemies he fought from his previous missions, he and Viridi heard a sinister voice. "Hello again, my arch-enemies," he said. "Devil Pit!" Pit and Viridi said, simultaneously. "I welcome you to my new territory of the Dark Allies," said Devil Pit. "We have many territories when it comes to our clan." "And how many of them do you even have at this point?" Pit asked. "So far we only have three," Devil Pit answered. "The first one was the Space Pirates, the second was the Aurum, and now you're in the third. And since you're in another one of our own, allow me to show you what I can do." As on queue, he suddenly summoned a lot of realistic eyes right in front of Pit. "Aaaaugh!" he and Viridi screamed in fright. This made Pit spasm a little bit after witnessing that. "Ahem. Yes. Well," Viridi started, after regaining her composure and the eyes disappeared. "I wasn't expecting that." "Hahahaha! It always amuses me to torture you with unexpected surprises," Devil Pit laughed. "How about I spice it up a bit? Watch this." Suddenly, a massive dark silhouette of a hand appeared right in front of Pit. "Augh!" he gasped. "That was weird..." He then flew below it only for another one to pop up. "Whoa!" he gasped again. As he continued onwards, more and more dark hand silhouettes appeared to slow him down. "...Ugh! Augh! Hey! Nice to meet ya! Hey! Augh! Whoa!" Pit gasped as he got through the hands and took down more enemies. "I see that you are quite persistent," said Devil Pit. "Well then, how about THIS?!" He snapped his fingers and everything suddenly went dark, which also inverted Pit's colors, including his weapon and the enemies, in the process. "O...K..." he said. "Maybe the Chaos Vortex's batteries are dead." "No. I simply made everything dark for you to see anything," said Devil Pit. "Well, except your previously fallen foes." "And besides, this place doesn't run on batteries, dingle brain!" said Viridi. "Anyway, it doesn't matter. You're going the right way...I think." "What do you mean you think?" Pit asked. "Don't worry your little head about it," said Viridi. After taking down the inverted enemies, Pit saw a door-shaped exit. "Good—there's a way out," he said. "Don't get cocky," said Devil Pit. As soon as Pit got out of the blackened area, his entire body was turned black. "Aw, man! This is my only tunic!" he groaned. "Don't be such a princess!" said Viridi. "That's funny when it comes from you," said Devil Pit. Suddenly, Pit noticed a Hot Spring waterfall. "Aw yeah, it's a Hot Spri—" he started, but was interrupted after he flew into the waterfall. "Blublublublub," he gurgled. As he got out of the waterfall, his colors were back to normal. "Hey, you've got your color back," said Viridi. "I also got water up my nose," said Pit as he received three more Recovery Orbs to replenish his health. "I told you not to get cocky," said Devil Pit. "Now how about I show you THIS!" He then summoned a Monoeye to block his view. "Get out of my way!" he yelled at it, but then another one came up to do the same thing. "I SAID get out of my way!" Pit yelled again. "This is just so much fun!" said Devil Pit. "I always love to slow my enemies down." After a while, the Monoeyes flew off and Pit proceeded onwards while taking down more enemies. "We're getting close to the Chaos Kin," Viridi pointed out. "OK," said Pit. "But watch out for look-alikes," Viridi warned. As on queue, a hoard of Chaos Kin copies appeared to slow Pit down. "Ugh! There's a ton of them. Nasty!" he yelled in disgust. "Is the Chaos Kin replicating itself?" Viridi wondered. "They seem exactly the same." "If that's true, we're in big trouble!" Pit yelled in worry. "This little game of us tormenting you sure is fun!" said Devil Pit. "Well I disagree with you, Devil Pit!" Pit scowled. "I will defeat you and the Chaos Kin, and you will give us Lady Palutena's soul back!" "We'll see..." said Devil Pit. After taking down the copies, Pit continued onwards, only to run over by a bunch of black decrypted symbols. "Ugh! Talk about annoying! Ugh!" he groaned. "What do you expect from our clan?" said Devil Pit. "We always enjoy tormenting our victims. Now then, let me show you something special." As soon as he said that, multiple Shadow Pit Clones appeared to stop their original counterpart. "Seriously? Now what?" Pit groaned. "They seem to be your shadows," said Viridi. "What?! They don't look anything like me!" Pit yelled. "First of all, I'm MUCH more attractive!" "Honestly, it's like you WANT me to insult you," said Viridi. "No! You just do it anyway!" Pit scoffed. "Those dark shadow clones of you were created by me to slow you down," said Devil Pit. "I'll put them to good use later on." After taking down the clones, Pit continued onwards and approached a large, rocky structure. There he saw the REAL Chaos Kin. "THAT Chaos Kin's the real deal! After it!" Viridi ordered. "Right!" Pit affirmed and flew after the Chaos Kin after receiving three more Recover Orbs to replenish his health. "Chaos Kin! Get out of there and bring me the souls and blood for the ritual!" Devil Pit ordered his pet. The Chaos Kin complied and quickly flew away to escape, but Pit wasn't going to let it out of his sight. "Where do you think YOU'RE going?!" he said. "Throttling UP!" said Viridi as she flew Pit upwards from the structure to chase the Chaos Kin on hot pursuit. They then entered a cave with giant eyes. "My face feels like it's blowing off!" Pit exclaimed. "Put on your big-boy pants and stay on the Chaos Kin!" Viridi ordered. "Faster, Chaos Kin! Hurry and bring the ritual items to me as quickly as possible!" Devil Pit ordered and the Chaos Kin flew faster with Pit right behind it. They then flew through an unknown area filled with floating Exo Tanks and into another eye portal. "Ungh! I've almost got it!" said Pit. "Not to rain on your parade, but we have to watch the clock!" Viridi warned. "Just keep me in the air as long as you can!" Pit ordered. "You will NOT ruin our master plan again!" Devil Pit yelled. "Hurry, Chaos Kin! YOU HAVE TO HURRY!" The Chaos Kin and Pit flew faster and faster through a familiar area of the Reaper's Fortress and entered another eye portal which lead them back to the vortex. "You're running out of time!" Viridi warned. "But I've almost got it!" said Pit. "HURRY YOUR ASS, CHAOS KIN! BRING ME THE FUCKING RITUAL ITEMS NOW!" Devil Pit yelled. But as the Chaos Kin flew faster, it accidentally slammed right into a floating rock, temporarily stunning itself. "NO!" Devil Pit yelled. "Now's your chance!" Viridi ordered. "Shoot shoot shoot!" "It's going down!" said Pit. "Chaos Kin! Snap out of it!" Devil Pit ordered, but it was too late. Pit landed a hit on the Chaos Kin and it fell onto a large platform. "Chaos Kin down!" Viridi exclaimed. "Now it's time to get Lady Palutena's spirit back!" said Pit as he flew into the arena to chase the Chaos Kin down.

Music stops

Pit landed on the same platform to find the Chaos Kin. But as he searched around, he saw someone charging at him. "Huh?" he wondered. "You!" the figure yelled. "YOU ARE GOING TO DIE HERE AND YOU WILL NOT RUIN OUR MASTER PLAN THIS TIME!" It was Devil Pit charging at Pit to strike. "AAAHH!" Pit yelled and shielded his eyes for the impact. But when he didn't feel a thing, he opened his eyes and found Devil Pit chained with shackles on his ankles. "What the hell?!" the Devil exclaimed. Suddenly, the shackles pulled Devil Pit into the middle of the arena. As he struggled to break free from them, another shackle appeared and closed on his neck. "Argh!" he choked as he struggled to release it with his hands. But then, two more shackles appeared and closed on his wrists to temporarily lock him into place. "What the fuck?!" he yelled. "Who did that?!" "Sorry, monster, but I'm not going to let you stop Pit from saving Palutena," said Viridi. "Thanks, Viridi!" Pit thanked. "I would've been finished if it wasn't for you!" "Grr! Curse you, Nature Goddess!" Devil Pit yelled, furiously. "Once I get out of these shackles, you will feel nothing but pain and agony." "Yeah yeah, enough with your sappiness," Viridi replied in her usual sassy tone. "Let's just get back to the mission." "Hrrrrngghhh..." Devil Pit growled. Can't believe I'm chained in place again just like last time, he added in thought.

Music playing: Chaos Island

"Where's Lady Palutena?" Pit asked after eating the food. "She's close by," said Viridi. "But you'll have to finish off some enemies first." "My pleasure!" said Pit. They then noticed that the enemies were all of fallen foes they faced from their previous missions. The first wave are the Underworld and Aurum enemies. "These are all enemies that you've seen before, but never together like THIS," said Viridi. "It IS weird," said Pit. "I have a hunch that the Chaos Kin is creating them," said Viridi. "You're not wrong. It did create these clones with the help of me," said Devil Pit. "We were planning to create multiple copies of our clan to destroy the universe, but we were unable to finish them. So we decided to use the incomplete clones here, along with your previously fallen foes." "Oh, man! Don't tell me there's, like, an endless supply of them!" Pit exclaimed in worry. "No, I don't think that's possible," Viridi replied. "Even though these enemies are knock-offs, they're real enough to hurt you. So I'm sure they require quite a bit of energy to create. Which means this will be an endurance contest between you and the Chaos Kin...along with its boss." "Oh, don't you worry! I can outlast any evil moth!" said Pit. "We'll see if you can survive a number of waves, Pit," said Devil Pit. After taking down the first wave, Pit found a Treasure Chest and opened it. But turns out, it contained an Orne. Along with that, Rezdas appeared to protect it. "Here comes the second wave!" said Viridi. "And here comes my second wind!" said Pit. "But don't get cocky about them," said Devil Pit. "Look at one of those enemies." "If that Orne gets to you, it's game over," Viridi warned. "It's got Aurum troops shielding it," said Pit. "They're called Rezdas. They'll put a hurt on you too, so stay away from them," said Viridi. "Honestly, I found the Ornes form the Underworld powerful, so we decided to create clones of them," said Devil Pit. "But they are a little too overpowered, so we're only making clones of them just this once. Consider this as salvation for you, flightless angel." "HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU?! STOP. CALLING. ME. A FLIGHTLESS. ANGEL!" Pit yelled. "Pit! Calm down!" Viridi comforted. "Oh watching you like this makes me fell joyous," Devil Pit chuckled. Pit soon took down the Rezdas and Handoras to finish the second wave. The Orne exploded after that. "You survived against that Orne," said Devil Pit. "But I must warn you that that was only ONE of them. You'll see another one later, but not now." Just then, the third wave began. "And here comes the third wave," said Viridi. "This is getting old fast." "Easy enough for you to say," said Devil Pit. Pit noticed something weird coming from the Aurum Tribytes. "Those Aurum troops are doing their best Game and Watch impression," he said. "Check out the gaming IQ on this guy! You're a regular video-game historian!" said Viridi. "But enough nerdery for now. This place is crawling with Cacaws!" "Ugh! Why did you create an enemy that annoying in the first place?" Pit asked. "You can thank the Chaos Kin for this batch! Don't blame me!" Viridi replied. "First of all, you can't blame another creature for making a clone of something YOU created in the first place," said Devil Pit. "And second..." Suddenly, fire burst from around the rocky arena. "AH!" Pit yelled as he jumped in surprise. "WILL YOU BOTH STOP BREAKING THE FOURTH WALL?!" Devil Pit yelled in anger. "IT'S HURTING MY BRAIN EVERY TIME I HEAR THAT!" "I really have no idea what he's even talking about," said Pit. "It's probably just his own imagination," said Viridi. "Oh my fucking god..." Devil Pit groaned. After taking down the enemies to complete the third wave, the fourth one began. "Really, a fourth wave?! The Chaos Kin and Devil Pit sure are persistent!" said Viridi. "We never back down at all!" said Devil Pit. "Yeah? Well, so am I!" said Pit. "Those two big Belunkas are spawning the little Armins," Viridi explained. "Actually, 'spawning' is a polite way of putting it. 'Barfing up' is more accurate." "Ugh! Hurl," Pit groaned in disgust. "Precisely. Anyway, the Armins' sides are their weak points," Viridi continued. "Considering how tough they look from the front, they're pretty wimpy," said Pit. "But they move fast! Dodge when they charge, and attack like crazy!" Viridi pointed out. After taking out the Belunkas, Pit waited for the Armins to charge at him. Once they were stunned, he attacked them at full force until they were all gone, ending the fourth wave. "The fifth wave is here!" said Viridi. "Come on now! This is getting ridiculous!" said Pit. "Four waves done, and you two are already complaining?" Devil Pit questioned. "Maybe we should've planned this out a lot better next time. But at least this one is interesting." Once he said that, a Pluton came by along with some Shootflies. "Shoot that Pluton before it steals anything from you!" Viridi ordered before realizing something else. "No, wait! Don't shoot! Those Shootflies will react to your fire!" "Which is it? Shoot or don't shoot?!" Pit asked in panic. "Um... Melee! Melee like crazy!" Viridi ordered. "Melee till the cows come home!" "Ugh... This is why I HATE your fond of Nature," Devil Pit groaned as he facepalmed. After taking down the Plutons, while avoiding the Shootflies if Pit accidently shot instead of melee, the sixth wave began. "Wave six!" said Viridi, but then noticed something shocking. "Wait, that's a Boom Stomper and some Bumpety Bombs! Those are MY troops too!" "Strange, isn't it?" Devil Pit asked. "It's funny that we're having the same pain together now." (A/N: Some of you might recognize that reference. For those of you that don't, go watch the Sonic vs. Metal Sonic fight from the Sonic the Hedgehog OVA animated movie.) "Seeing these copies of my warriors turns my stomach!" Viridi groaned in disgust. "Boom Stomper and Bumpety Bomb, eh? You come up with those names yourself?" Pit asked. "Are you getting smart with me?" Viridi questioned. "No, I'm just curious," Pit answered. "Because I DID come up with those names myself," Viridi continued. "Aren't they just the cutest?" "Right... Cute," Pit replied, sheepishly. "Bumpety Bomb... Tee hee. Have you ever heard anything so adorable?" Viridi giggled, causing Pit to blush slightly. "Bleagh! Hearing YOU talk to your forces like that makes me sick!" Devil Pit groaned in disgust. "It's official; we are NEVER going to make clones of the Forces of Nature ever again!" "Well I am THRILLED to hear that," Viridi replied. "Hrrrrngghhh..." Devil Pit growled. After taking down all of the enemies of the sixth wave, the seventh wave began. "Wave seven!" said Viridi. "I've just about had it!" said Pit. "You have to take down the Shildeen," Viridi explained. "It has a team of bodyguards!" said Pit. "Don't worry about the Monoliths. Just don't get hit by the Quoils," Viridi continued. "Just a little tip: don't get hurt and you won't die!" "Oh yeah. That is a GREAT tip to survive," Devil Pit sarcastically said while rolling his eyes. "However, after you get passed this one, you better prepare yourself." After taking down the seventh wave, the eighth one began, however there is something horrible. "And here comes the eighth wave," said Viridi. "It's just a few Underworld Komaytos," said Pit before noticing something else. "...And another ORNE! Oh, no!" "I told you to brace yourself," said Devil Pit. "This is the other one." "This could spell trouble," said Viridi. "Stay away from the Orne and keep taking out the Komaytos." But while taking the Komaytos down, Pit noticed something else. "You know, Komaytos look an awful lot like little Metroids," he said. "No! Shhhh! Stop right there!" Viridi shushed. "What's the matter?" Pit questioned. "All I said was that Komaytos look like little Metr—" "Hmm hmm HMMMM hmm! I can't HEAR you!" Viridi interrupted. "Hey, what's your problem?" Pit asked. "This game universe and that game universe have NOTHING to do with each other!" Viridi replied. "So don't go around spreading rumors!" But after that conversation, fire burst around the battle arena. "AAAHHH!" the angel and goddess yelped. "INCOMPETENT MORONS! STOP BREAKING THE FOURTH WALL! GET IT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULLS!" Devil Pit yelled, furiously. "Sheesh! Talk about anger issues with him!" said Viridi. "He will not be so cocky once I take down all of the waves!" said Pit. "I fucking hate you both..." Devil Pit grumbled. Soon enough, Pit took down all of the enemies and the Orne exploded after that. "Hope you're not too tired, Pit. The ninth wave is coming up!" Viridi pointed out. Suddenly, Dark Pit flew into the arena with the Silver Bow equipped to help his original counterpart. "Looks like you could use a little help," he said. "I can do this myself. And why are you suddenly so interested in helping me again anyway?" Pit asked. "While you were a ring? I was less than nothing. Unconscious. Un-MYSELF," Dark Pit explained. "We're connected. No you, no me. Two sides of the same coin." "That's crazy! So that's why you have to help me save Lady Palutena!" exclaimed Pit, before he and his dark counterpart both said simultaneously, "OK then. Let's take these enemies down!" They then proceeded to fight against the enemies. "Well well. If it isn't the dark angel clone again," said Devil Pit. "Since you're here for the party, I hope you can survive against our copies." "Team Baddy's putting up quite a fight," said Viridi. "But with the two of you working together, it's probably a cakewalk." "That goes without saying," said Dark Pit. "So the Chaos Kin is copying Aurum enemies that are copies of the Forces of Nature," Pit wondered. "It makes you think, doesn't it?" Viridi asked. "No, not really. It's just weird," Pit replied. "That's because we used the data we copied from your troops, Viridi," Devil Pit explained. "After the previous foes were fallen from your missions, Pit, we created the copies and planned destroy the universe. Unfortunately, they were all incomplete. But let's see how well you can take them out!" "It's on!" Pit and Dark Pit said, simultaneously. The angels then took down all of the enemies to complete wave nine. "I will not let you both ruin our master plan!" Devil Pit yelled out. "Let's see how well you can survive THIS ONE!" "You know what time it is? It's time for the TENTH WAVE!" said Viridi. "Let me at 'em!" said Dark Pit. Then Viridi noticed something else. "Defeat that Guttler first," Viridi ordered. "Guttlers get more powerful the more they eat." "Well, so do I," said Pit. "They really don't have the most discriminating tastes," said Viridi. "They'll eat anything." "Well, so does Pit," said Dark Pit. "Hey! At least I don't eat my friends!" Pit replied. "It's funny when you talk about the Guttler," said Devil Pit. "After all, you DO realize that I devoured mortal corpses whole after killing them, right?" "Well SHUT UP ABOUT THAT!" Viridi yelled. "Also, why do you even consider yourself having 'friends,' Pit?" Devil Pit continued. "You don't even have any friends. The only person you had was the Goddess of Light, Palutena. She's gone now, and there is nothing you can do to save her." "We WILL bring Lady Palutena back from you and the Chaos Kin!" Pit yelled back. "Just watch!" "Over my satanic body, flightless angel," said Devil Pit. "AND CAN YOU STOP CALLING ME THAT?!" Pit yelled out. "Pit! Please calm down!" Viridi comforted. And here I thought I was the only one being called my a name I hated, Dark Pit thought to himself, surprised as well. After taking down all of the enemies, the eleventh wave began. "Here comes the eleventh wave! I can feel the Chaos Kin getting tired!" said Viridi. "Just gotta power through it!" said Pit. "Watch as your attempts to stop us will fail spectacularly, fools!" said Devil Pit. "Igniots can temporarily paralyze you if you get in their way. So try to avoid that," Viridi explained. "That's it? No joke or snappy commentary?" Pit asked. "This is wave eleven! The time for jokes is over!" said Dark Pit. "Oh really? Well there is no way you can take them all down at once!" said Devil Pit. "We'll carve upon your flesh and feast on your souls. Once we've reached terminal power, we'll become unstoppable. Turn back now if you want to value your pitiful afterlives." "We will not back down from the likes of you!" Pit and Dark Pit yelled, simultaneously. "Fine! If that is what you wish, then DIE!" said Devil Pit. The light and dark angels took down all of the enemies to begin the twelfth wave. "Wave twelve! TWELVE! I think we're getting close to the end!" said Viridi. "You keep saying that, but the enemies keep coming!" said Dark Pit. "Bickering won't help us!" said Pit. "If we want to defeat evil, we have to unite as good!" "No, if we want to defeat evil, we have to unite against platitudes," Viridi replied. "Well if you want to survive from evil, you must run away like cowards," said Devil Pit "NO!" Pit, Dark Pit, and Viridi yelled, simultaneously. "Consider that as your death wish," said Devil Pit. After taking down all of the enemies, the thirteenth wave, the final wave, began. "We're at the thirteenth wave. I'm sure this is it!" said Viridi. "Then it's time," said Dark Pit. "Time for what?" Pit asked. "Our pre-boss-battle rallying cry!" yelled Dark Pit. "Oh, right. OK," said Pit and the battle cry began. "Ahem. Filth of the land, hear our words!" "And see our actions!" "I am Pit, servant of the Goddess of Light!" "And I am Dark Pit, servant to no other but myself!" "Together we will rain death upon you!" "So, anyone who wants to die, step right up!" "And anyone who doesn't want to die, too bad!" "Aw, yeah!" And they finished. "Nice speech, guys. Did you stay up all night writing it?" Viridi asked. "Or maybe it's your super-secret twin connection talking." "'Twins?'" What even makes you think of them as 'twins?'" Devil Pit questioned. "Well they do look almost identical, so it would make sense for them to be twins," Viridi replied. "Hrrrrngghhh..." Devil Pit growled. After taking down all of the enemies, the final wave was over.

Music stops

The light and dark angels waited for the Chaos Kin to arrive now that they got through all of the waves. "Hmm. Something is wrong," said Viridi. "What is it, Viridi?" Pit asked. "I can't seem to sense the Chaos Kin's presence," Viridi answered. "It's supposed to come out of its hiding spot, yet I don't even know where it is." Dark Pit then turned to the still chained up Devil Pit. "Where is the Chaos Kin?!" he yelled. "He's still here, but you're not quite done just yet," said Devil Pit. "What do you mean?" Pit asked. "Tell me, Pit, remember those shadow clones of yourself you faced earlier when you were tracking down my pet?" Devil Pit asked. "Yes," Pit answered. What are you trying to tell me here?" "Let's just say that you only have two more waves to complete," said Devil Pit. "Get down here, minions!" As on queue, multiple Shadow Pit Clones appeared around the light and dark angels. "Guys! It's an ambush!" Viridi warned. "Oh no!" Pit yelled. "Stay sharp! They've got tough weapons!" said Dark Pit. The light and dark angels readied their weapons to face the shadows.

The Shadow Pit Clones started the battle by firing charged shots at their enemies with their weapons. Each of them contained either a First Blade, Violet Palm, EZ Cannon, or Standard Orbitars. Pit and Dark Pit avoided those shots and proceeded to attack them. "In order for you to defeat these clones, you must take down exactly 100 of them," said Devil Pit "100?! Are you kidding me?!" Pit yelled. "Hey! I'm not joking around with you anymore, flightless angel!" said Devil Pit. "If you want to defeat the Chaos Kin, you must take down two of my toughest waves yet!" "Fine! Then we'll show you how well we can take 'em down!" said Pit. "Be careful! If you defeat a clone, another one will appear!" Viridi warned. "They will keep spawning out more and more until exactly 100 of them are taken down!" "Then we'll just have to defeat as many as possible!" said Dark Pit. "I'd like to see you try!" said Devil Pit. The light and dark angels fought the clones until 25 of them were taken down. "You've taken down a quarter of them!" said Viridi. "But you haven't reached 100 just yet!" said Devil Pit. "Then we'll just take down more of them!" said Pit. "You got that right!" Dark Pit agreed. The angelic duo then continued fighting more clones until 50 of them were defeated. But there were still more of them spawning to take them down. "I see that you're halfway there," said Devil Pit. "But still have a lot of catching up to do!" "Don't get cocky, Devil Pit!" said Pit. "Once we take down all of them, we're going after the Chaos Kin to get Palutena's soul back!" "I wouldn't be so sure about that," Devil Pit chuckled. "Just remember, you need to take down 100 of them before facing the big boss!" said Viridi. Pit and Dark Pit continued attacking the clones, whlie also avoiding their attacks, and took down 75 of them. "You're almost there! Just keep attacking them!" said Viridi. "But they're still ganging up on us!" Pit yelped. "Then we better take them all down!" said Dark Pit. "No! I won't let you ruin our master plan that easily!" said Devil Pit. "Clones! Destroy those fools!" But the clones were still taken down one by one by the tough heroes. Finally, 100 of them were taken down and the clones disappeared in retreat.

Music stops

"Alright! That was 100 clones!" Pit cheered in victory before facing Devil Pit. "Now, where is the Chaos Kin?!" "Now don't even think you're done just yet," Devil Pit replied. "There are TWO waves. You have only completed one of them." "Then what is the other wave?" Dark Pit asked, impatiently. "Allow me to show you," said Devil Pit. "Get in here, boys!" Suddenly, three more unusual shadows appeared right in front of the two angels. "More shadows?" Pit questioned. "Actually, they're not just ANY shadows," Devil Pit explained. "They are 'The Shadows of Adventure's Past!'" "'The Shadows of Adventure's Past?'" Pit wondered. "They are your shadows from your previous missions; Shadow Pit and Shadow Dark Pit," Devil Pit continued. "The last one is my shadow self; Shadow Devil Pit. He is the captain of all shadows. They shall exterminate you and then we will become unstoppable!" The shadows opened their eyes to look at their counterparts. "SO YOU FINALLY MADE IT HERE..." said Shadow Pit. "WE HAVE BEEN EXPECTING YOUR INEVITABLE SUCCESS..." said Shadow Dark Pit. "BEFORE WE GO ANY FURTHER, I MUST SEE IF YOU HOLD THE POWERS OF ADVENTURE'S PAST..." said Shadow Devil Pit. "Well, good thing I brought this weapon with me," said Dark Pit as he switched out the Silver Bow with the Dark Pit Staff and showed it to the shadows. "I guess my weapon could mean the same thing," said Pit and showed the Palutena Bow to the shadows. They all nodded. "VERY WELL..." said Shadow Devil Pit. "SINCE YOU HAVE PROVEN YOUR WORTH BY DEFEAT OUR LORD'S CLONES, LET'S SEE IF YOU CAN TAKE US ON." "Then bring it on!" said the light and dark angels, simultaneously. "OKAY BROTHERS, LET'S DEFEAT THE ENEMIES OF OUR LORD AND PATRIARCH OF THE DARK ALLIES CLAN!" said Shadow Devil Pit as he readied his Palutena Palm, while the other shadows readied their Palutena Bow and Dark Pit Staff. The light and dark angels readied their weapons, too, and the battle began.

Music playing: The Final Battle (Torzelan Rock Version) - Final Fantasy IV [Extended] from Juan David Durán Guinea (A.K.A. The Shadows of Adventure's Past's Battle Theme)

The shadows separated themselves and started to attack the light and dark angels with their shooting attacks. The duo avoided the attack and fought back against them. "Oh man! We're outnumbered 2 against 3!" said Pit. "That doesn't mean you can give up right there, Pit!" said Viridi. "You may be outnumbered, but you can still take them down! They're attacks are matched with yours, so survive with the best of your abilities to defeat them!" "Don't forget about my shadow self," said Devil Pit. "His attacks are matched with mine, since he has the same weapon I used when I first fought the both of you!" "We'll still take all three of them down!" said Dark Pit. "And once we defeat all three of theme, the Chaos Kin will come out of his hiding spot so that we can defeat it once and for all!" "Just try, you foolish angels!" Devil Pit replied. The angels and shadows continued to fight against each other, but things were still going outmatched. "Try focusing on one shadow first," Viridi explained. "Remember you did the same thing with the Aurum Pit Squad, Pit? Focus on one shadow first and then taken down the other one next!" "Got it!" Pit affirmed. "They will be taken out with the blink of an eye!" said Dark Pit. They first started attacking Shadow Pit, who used his Palutena Bow to block their certain melee attacks. But once the light and dark angels continued to fight, Shadow Pit was defeated. "NO!" he yelled in defeat and then disappeared. "That's one shadow down!" Pit exclaimed. "Only two left to go!" said Dark Pit. "YOU'LL PAY FOR THAT!" Shadow Dark Pit yelled as he fired a forward-dash charged shot at his foes, only for them to dodge it. "Nice try, but try dodging THIS!" said Dark Pit and fired countless rapid fire shots at his shadow self. After he was weak, Pit proceeded to take him down with melee combos until Shadow Dark Pit was defeated. "THIS ISN'T OVER!" he yelled in defeat and disappeared. "You got one left!" said Viridi. "YOU DEFEATED MY BROTHERS! TIME FOR PINCH MODE!" yelled Shadow Devil Pit and his body and eyes glow red. "He's in Pinch Mode! Be careful!" Viridi warned. "We'll still take him on!" said Pit. "You got that right!" said Dark Pit. Shadow Devil Pit fired a charged shot at Pit which knocked him back. "Ouch!" he cried. "My shadow self is no joke," said Devil Pit. "As the captain of all shadows, he will get more angrier when his men are lost!" "But not until we defeat him!" said Dark Pit. Pit then got back up and fired a charged shot at Shadow Devil Pit, then proceeded to fire more and more arrows at his stomach. Once he was in pain, the duo attacked him with melee combos like there was no tomorrow. At last, Shadow Devil Pit was defeated. "CURSE...YOU...!" he yelled in defeat and disappeared. "Since you took down the shadows, it's time for the big one of the party!" said Devil Pit. Dark Pit switched back to his weapon to the Silver Bow to ready himself, while Pit kept his own weapon and drank another Drink of the Gods.

The Chaos Kin suddenly came out of his hiding spot and faced the light and dark angels. "Well, look who decided to show up," said Dark Pit. "It's game over, Chaos Kin!" said Pit. "Chaos Kin! Get out of here with the required items for the ritual!" Devil Pit ordered. The Chaos Kin complied and attempted to fly away...until... "Here, let me help!" said Viridi and the Chaos Kin was stuck in a barrier the goddess set up earlier. "There. That should make things easier for you two," she continued. "Thanks, Viridi! You're always thinking!" said Pit. "Grr! You may have stopped the Chaos Kin from escaping, but there is no way you can win the fight!" Devil Pit growled. "Chaos Kin! Kill these two angel enemies!" The angels and the creature readied themselves to begin the fight. While the three commenced their combat, Viridi set up an Electro Trap. "I set up an electro trap in the center of the field," she explained. "It'll come in handy if you're having trouble keeping up with the Chaos Kin." "Just like I said. You're always thinking!" said Pit. "Well, one of us has to," Viridi chuckled. "Even if you have a trap set up to slow it down, you might not have a chance of winning!" said Devil Pit. The angels and the Chaos Kin continued their battle in order to see who will be victorious to save Palutena or let her die. "You'll pay for what you've done, Chaos Kin!" Pit yelled. "Eating souls is bad enough, but going after the soul of a goddess is just vile," said Dark Pit. "How funny because you two were the ones responsible for being cowards and not taking it down right away to stop it," said Devil Pit. "If you didn't get involved with the War of Chaos, none of this would've ever happened." "Shut up! You were the monster that set it free from its prison and corrupted the Goddess of Light!" Viridi yelled back. "Palutena resisted being consumed for over three years. I have to hand it to her—that takes a certain strength of will. She was waiting for you to return, Pit. I'm sure she used every last ounce of her power to resist." "She must have suffered so much..." said Pit. "There's no point dwelling on this now. We need to take down the Chaos Kin," said Dark Pit. "You're right!" Pit agreed. The two of them continued their battle against the creature, but Devil Pit decided to take a dark turn. "There is no way you can save the so called 'Goddess of Light,'" he said. "I and the Chaos Kin are going to use her soul, along with other mortal souls, to complete the ritual and summon the demons from Abyss to destroy your universe." "You will never do such a thing like that, you monster!" Pit yelled. "You are nothing more than a lowlife scumbag who's taking what was ours!" said Dark Pit. "Hahahaha! Your enthusiasm never ceases to amuse me," Devil Pit laughed, sinisterly. "You'll be the next ones to die if you don't turn back now!" "Boys! Take down the Chaos Kin with whatever you got!" said Viridi. "Show Devil Pit who's the one to save the universe from his clutches!" "Will do!" the angels replied, simultaneously. The three then continued their battle and the Chaos Kin charged at Pit, only for the angel to move out of the way and the creature ran right into the trap. The angels then used a melee combo to finish it. "Now THAT was a rain of death," Pit said in victory. "Aw, yeah!" Dark Pit cheered. "NOOOOOO!" Devil Pit yelled in anguish upon seeing his right hand pet defeated.

The Chaos Kin burst into ashes, leaving its last remains on the arena, and Palutena's soul was out of its body. The soul then returned to Palutena's petrified body, bringing her back to normal. "Ugh...huh... Pit!" Palutena gasped upon seeing her angel servant again. "I'm so relieved you're OK!" said Pit, happy to see his goddess back. Dark Pit smiled and then walked away from the Chaos Kin's ashes. Devil Pit then broke free from his chains and rushed to the Chaos Kin's remains. "No! NONONONONO! This can't be!" he cried as he picked up the Chaos Kin's remains. "You ruined everything! The feast! The ritual! My entire clan! They're all gone...ALL BECAUSE OF YOU!" His eyes filled up with bloody tears, until they suddenly turned black with blood pouring from his sockets. "I'M GOING TO MAKE YOU PAY! CHAOS KIN! DESTROY DARK PIT!" he growled and the Chaos Kin's ashes suddenly rushed over to Dark Pit and wrapped itself around him, sending him flying off the platform. "Augh!" he cried. Pit suddenly heard this and watched in horror. He gasped. "Oh, no! Pittoo!" He then rushed off the platform to save his dark counterpart. "Auuuurrgh!" Dark Pit cried as he was falling into the lava pit of the Chaos Vortex. "Viridi! I need to fly!" said Pit. "You already used the Power of Flight! Don't you remember?" Viridi warned. "If I enable it again now, your wings will catch fire!" "The Chaos Kin is going to destroy Pittoo!" said Pit. "Can't you see what's at stake here? I don't care if my wings catch fire!" That and I also heard Phosphora caring about him, he added in thought. I cannot lose someone a friend of mine cares so much! "No way! Just forget about it! I'm pulling you out!" said Viridi. "No! Stop! If we don't help him right now, we won't have another chance!" Pit replied before ordering the goddess, "I'm begging you, Viridi! Let me fly! Now!" "Hraaah! Fine! But whatever happens to you isn't my fault!" Viridi sighed in both anger and sadness. She then activated the Power of Flight again which caused Pit's wings to catch fire like last time in the Aurum, but much worse. "Gnrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!" he yelled in pain. "Hang in there, Pit! Be strong!" Viridi cried in encouragement. "Help...me..." Dark Pit yelped. During the commotion, Devil Pit gave Pit more dark words. "You're just making the situation worse," he told the angel. "I suggest you give up and die. You're sacrificing yourself at the cost of your wings. You should've listen to the Nature Goddess and let Dark Pit die. But even if you managed to save him, you'll end up in a coma in the process. Are you seriously wanting to save a clone who is nothing while sacrificing your life? Or are you going to let yourself die for nothing? You have two choices; die or be in a dying state. Make your choice." Pit aligned himself and grabbed Dark Pit to save him and the Chaos Kin's ashes disappeared. "I'm getting you out of there!" said Viridi and whisked the angels back to the entrance of Palutena's temple. Meanwhile, Devil Pit watched it all end. "Hahahaha. You just made a big mistake," he laughed. "Risking your life to save your dark counterpart who is nothing to you." He then turned his head to face Palutena. "I think you should go to where your servant and his dark counterpart are located," he told her. "Your servant is probably dying right now." This made Palutena tear up and she quickly teleported away from the Chaos Vortex to her temple. Devil Pit ruthlessly smirked at her face of despair. "I better go over there and see for myself," he said and flew away from the Chaos Vortex to Palutena's temple. Meanwhile, Pit and Dark Pit arrived back at the entrance of Palutena's temple. Dark Pit slowly stood back up, but Pit was unconscious. His wings were burnt to a crisp. "How's Pit?" the dark angel asked. "Pit... Pit's in bad shape," said Viridi in both sadness and regret for what she did. "He can't fly. He's barely breathing." She then noticed Palutena, who slowly walked to the unconscious body of her angel servant. "Palutena? What are you doing?" Viridi asked. Palutena said nothing as she knelt down to Pit's unconscious body and lifted him up. She looked at him sadly to see his current state. She suddenly remembered the times they had back in the day. The Phoenix Mountain... "My wish would be to fly by myself!" and the final battle against Medusa. "I'll return to Skyworld victorious!" But now, it was all beginning to fade away. "Oh, Pit..." Palutena sighed as she sadly looked up at the sky.

But things are taken a turn for the worst when they heard footsteps coming closer. "So...your servant is dying, huh?" asked a sinister and scary voice. Palutena and Dark Pit turned around to see Devil Pit and they watched in horror to see him again. "Devil Pit?! Not now..." Viridi gasped in horror. "What are you doing here anyway?" "I am here for one thing, and one thing only," Devil Pit replied. "And that is an offer to the Goddess of Light." "M-Me?" said Palutena. Devil Pit slowly reached out a hand. "Give me the Three Sacred Treasures, Palutena, and I'll let you live," he offered. Palutena began to stutter, unsure of what to do with the monster. "U-Um..." she started, but then Dark Pit stepped in to stop Devil Pit. "Is that supposed to be a joke, Devil Pit?" he asked. "I've already beaten you once back at that abandoned temple, and now I will do it again." "Hahahahaha! No you won't," Devil Pit replied as he crossed his arms. "This time, I have the upper hand with your original counterpart unconscious right there." The three of them looked at Pit's broken, unconscious body. "Would you really sacrifice is life to stop me?" he continued. Everyone was silent upon hearing the question. "I'll take that as a 'no' as I thought," said Devil Pit. He then held his hand up again. "Now give me the Three Sacred Treasures, or else you will all die!" he continued. Suddenly, they heard unicorns neighing and their feet galloping. "Don't think Pittoo's going to fight against you alone, Devil Pit!" said a new voice. It was Phosphora in the Lightning Chariot who heard the commotion. She brought the chariot down to the entrance of Palutena's temple. "Phosphora?" Dark Pit and Palutena said, simultaneously. "I'm not going to let you hurt anybody else any longer!" said Phosphora. "You've slaughtered many innocents and now you brought Pit in danger. He needs our help and the only way to bring him back is to defeat you!" "You again? Hmhmhmhm... Very well," said Devil Pit. "I'll take the both of you down in the blink of an eye." "Is that so? Well, bring it on then!" said Dark Pit as he and Phosphora readied themselves to fight. "I could simply steal your souls to turn you into stone, like my right hand pet did to Palutena, and consume them, but I would rather take delight in slicing your bodies into pieces and then devour your corpses whole while licking the blood out of them," Devil Pit continued. "Prepare yourselves for another rematch, fools! The Abyss awaits you!" He then used the last remains of the Chaos Kin to summon the most terrifying and cunning weapons of all: The Claws of Chaos, and his eyes glow a yellow-ish color after he equipped them. The most outrageous battle has begun.

Devil Pit began the fight by charging at his foes and slashed at them with his Claws. One of the attacks hit Dark Pit. "Argh!" he groaned in pain. "I-I'm bleeding!" "Keep your distance away from Devil Pit!" said Viridi. "I'll heal those wounds as fast as I can!" "Don't think you can be able to survive against me and my power, immortals!" said Devil Pit. "The Claws of Chaos are the most, terrifying, cunning, and venomous weapons ever created from the deepest reaches of the Chaos Vortex. Watch this!" He then charged at Phosphora who, despite being quick and nimble, ended up getting hit by Devil Pit's weapons with a melee combo. She then felt something weird. "Urgh..." she groaned. "I feel like my organs are failing." "Is it the ailment Poison?" Palutena asked. "No. It's called Super Poison!" said Devil Pit. "It drains your health away a lot faster and lasts longer than the original." "Would explain why those weapons are venomous," said Dark Pit after his wounds were healed. After Phosphora recovered from the Super Poison ailment, she and Dark Pit continued their fight against Devil Pit. "How about I make things a lot crispy for you?" asked the Devil. His mouth then started to glow fiery orange. "Watch out, guys!" Viridi warned. Dark Pit and Phosphora moved out of the way just in time to avoid a fire breath coming from Devil Pit's mouth. "Whoa!" Phosphora gasped. "He almost roasted us right there!" said Dark Pit. "How could he do that?!" Palutena asked in shock. "As the Devil, I can use my fire abilities to my liking," said Devil Pit. "Make sure you avoid all of those attacks," said Viridi. "Otherwise you will be inflicted with Burn and the other two status ailments from earlier." "Right!" Dark Pit and Phosphora affirmed, simultaneously. During the battle, Devil Pit decided to ask Dark Pit and Phosphora some questions. "Tell me, immortals, why are you even helping your enemy in the first place?" he started and then looked at Dark Pit first. "Didn't it all started with you trying to take him down in the beginning?" Then he looked at Phosphora. "And then you almost fried him up with your electric powers. So why are you two helping him after what you did to him?" "Even though I was about to take him down during that war, I cannot let you defeat the only angel Palutena has left," said Phosphora. "Not to mention, he saved me from getting killed by your murder weapon!" "Me and Pit are connected," said Dark Pit. "If Pit died, I would disappear. But...hang on! If I'm feeling the same pain like Pit does, how come YOU are not feeling his pain? Aren't you supposed to be the second clone that should feel the same way?" "That's none of your concern!" Devil Pit replied. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have bodies to slice!" He then continued to attack Dark Pit and Phosphora, but they soon gain the upper hand when the Lightning Nymph used her powers to paralyze Devil Pit. "Shit! My body is all numb!" he yelled. "Now's our chance, Dark Pit!" said Phosphora. "Right! Let's take him down!" said Dark Pit. The duo then used melee combos to finish the job and Devil Pit was defeated. "Curses! I've been defeated again!" he yelled in defeat. "That's to be expected," Dark Pit scoffed.

Devil Pit fell to the ground and his Claws of Chaos shattered into pieces. He slowly got back up and began to laugh. "Hehehehehehe..." "What's so funny?" Dark Pit questioned. "Oh nothing. It's just that you still don't have a chance of winning anyway," said Devil Pit. "Even if I lost this battle, I still have the upper hand. Pit is now in a coma ever since he burnt his wings with the help of that stupid Nature Goddess." "Hey!" Viridi yelled. "Well anyways, it won't be long until the day he dies once he succumbs to it," Devil Pit continued. "If you even try to bring him back, there will be consequences for your actions. But if he somehow survives...well... Let's just say that I'll be waiting for the opportunity to strike. Have an unworthy day! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" He then flew away and dropped something. Phosphora went over to it and picked up the object. "Hey! It's another one of those tapes Pit mentioned," she said. "Tapes?" asked Dark Pit. "They're basically audio recordings of someone unknown," Palutena explained. "But I'll explain about it later. Right now, we need to find a safe place for Pit. I can't bring him back to my temple since it's still under repairs after what Devil Pit did to me and my army." "You guys can take him to my temple," Viridi offered. "He can rest in there and we'll try to resurrect him." "Thanks, Viridi," Palutena thanked. "Come on, you two. We got work to do." Dark Pit and Phosphora nodded and all of them were whisked away by a light pillar to Viridi's temple.

Once our heroes arrived at Viridi's temple and took Pit to his room. Palutena and Dark Pit tried using Healing Herbs and the Health Recover power to bring Pit back, but nothing worked. "Argh! I can't believe Devil Pit would do such a thing to our innocent angel friend!" Phosphora cried. "Indeed," Arlon agreed. "The only problem is that we don't even know what to do, because the monster could come back to attack us any second." Cragalanche nodded in agreement. The commanders turned to see their leader crying in front of Pit's broken body. "No... Pit, why did I made your wings catch fire...?" Viridi cried. "Why did I listen to you? I shouldn't have- *sniff* I shouldn't have used the Power of Flight!" She continued to sob in tears as her commanders, Palutena, and even Dark Pit frowned to see her like this. "This is all my fault! I made your life in jeopardy now, Pit!" Viridi continued. Suddenly, she felt someone's presence right behind her. Devil Pit teleported behind Viridi with his sinister smile. "D-Devil P-" Viridi started in fear. But before she could say anything else, Devil Pit suddenly grabbed Viridi's hair and slammed her against a wall.

Devil Pit soon held Viridi in place by grabbing her shoulders. "You know, you had a chance to kill your long time enemy...twice!" he started. "The first time was when you brought him to your temple after he failed to reach me thanks to the barrier I set up and the second time is right now. However, it seems like you're not going to kill him at this moment. Why is that?" Viridi was too shocked to even say anything and her allies and commanders were horrified to witness this. Then Devil Pit noticed something. "Wait a minute. Don't tell me!" he said. "Did you care about Pit and Palutena when they were in danger? YOU of all people?!" He slammed Viridi on the wall again. "AH!" she cried. "VIRIDI!" everybody yelled, worried about the Nature Goddess' pain. "That's very rich coming from you, Viridi," Devil Pit continued. "The mighty Goddess of Nature, enemy of humanity, is helping the protectors of them. But don't worry, I'll let you live. However, I'm going to give you a warning! If you and your friends dare to bring Pit back from his coma if you can, you'll feel the same pain just...like...HER! HAHAHAHAHAHA!" After his ruthless abuse, he teleported away from the temple. Viridi cried in tears and rushed to Palutena. What surprised the Goddess of Light is that Viridi immediately embraced her while sobbing in tears. "Palutena! I'm so sorry for everything!" she cried. "I should've warned you about the Chaos Kin when you arrived at Arlon's Lunar Sanctum. But I also did everything to save you and Dark Pit, even if it meant sacrificing Pit's wings! I'm sorry for hurting your angel!" She continued to cry in tears, worried that Palutena might yell at her. But to her surprise, Palutena returned the embrace and hugged her back. "It's okay. I forgive you," said the Goddess of Light. "I would've done the same thing if I wasn't petrified and felt the same way. Don't blame yourself for what you did. You saved an ally of our team. After all, he sacrificed everything to save us, and now it's our turn to return the favor." Viridi stopped sobbing and nodded in agreement. Everyone else came up to the goddesses. "Well, now that we have that settled, I need to show you something," said Phosphora. She then pulled out the tape. "Let's listen to what this tape tells us," she continued. Everybody else nodded in agreement and the two goddesses gathered up everyone for another meeting. After bringing everyone, Phosphora placed marked "The Argument" into the tape player and pressed PLAY.

"Lucifer, we need to talk," said the voice of Palutena. "Do we, Lady Palutena?" asked the voice of the now known Lucifer. "Yes, we sure do," Palutena replied. "Ever since you killed my sister, Gaia, I started having nightmares!" "What nightmares?" asked Lucifer. "Nightmares about what you did to her and her army!" Palutena continued. "The Forces of Nature decaying themselves... Plants and animals dying from filth and/or organ failure... But worst of all, I witnessed your murderous crimes on her and her commanders! My angels and centurions are talking about you. About what you've done! I know I shouldn't have listen to you! You lied to me! You killed the Goddess of Nature, and the Earth is going to crumble any second! I ordered you to stop Medusa and the Underworld Army! But you instead disobeyed-" "Shush..." Lucifer interrupted. "Relax, my lady. I know what I'm doing. In fact, we already have the solution to our problem right now." He showed Palutena something. A vision of a little girl. "Wait... Is that the new goddess that was born 10 years ago?" the Goddess of Light asked. "This isn't just any goddess, Lady Palutena. This is a vessel, who is going to take care of her mother's place," Lucifer explained. "You can tell that the Earth is not crumbling just yet." "I... I see...?" said Palutena. "The first goddess may be gone, but this one will surly take her place," Lucifer continued. "After all, you told her that she wanted to bring peace to the mortals, correct?" "Well, yes. But, I'm not sure if that's going to be possible, now that her mother is dead!" Palutena responded. "In any case, this child is the solution to our problem," Lucifer continued. "The moment this dumb girl becomes the next Goddess of Nature, she'll become a puppet. Our puppet, being pulled by our strings. Unable to harm us, unlike the other mortals from the Overworld." "Okay, Lucifer. It's just- What about the CRIME?! My army is more protected for the humans, and HASN'T had a single deity murdered by a monster! You killed my sister! Her forces will-" "Relax, my lady," Lucifer replied. "I've already pinned the murder on the Underworld Army. Even though Arlon already knew what I did, that girl won't know about the truth. The War of Chaos is still going on, and this will give us time for them to be distracted. The Forces of Nature will assume that the Underworld was responsible for Gaia's death. The blood have been cleaned off from my dirty hands. This is a minor hiccup." "But, the Underworld-" Palutena started. "I'll be paying a visit to the Underworld soon," said Lucifer. "Their army will look like nothing, compared to the other god that is going to be killed later on." "Lucifer, I don't like this idea..." said Palutena, worried. "My lady, this is our mission," Lucifer replied. "Yeah, but-" Palutena started. "This is what I have to do," Lucifer continued. "Our army. Our family. Our mission. This is what you wanted." "Lucifer, I-" Palutena started again. "YOU WANTED THIS..." said Lucifer. Palutena was silent for a while, after hearing what Lucifer told her. "Okay..." she finally responded. "Now, go and set up your army," Lucifer ordered. "Along the way, go talk to Arlon while you have the chance. Make it out like the Underworld would stoop so low in killing your sister. I'll be busy finishing up my work." Palutena reluctantly nodded and left Lucifer to continue his work. Lucifer looked back at the vision. "Don't worry. You'll be taking your mother's place," Lucifer told the baby goddess. "Until the day...you...DIE!" *click*

After the tape ended, everyone was terrified to hear the whole conversation. Dark Pit, Arlon, and Phosphora gasped in shock, Cragalanche had his eyes open wide, but the most shock of them all were the goddesses; Palutena and Viridi. Palutena cried in tears after hearing her voice in that tape, along with this strange "Lucifer" person's voice. Viridi was both shocked and confused at the same time. "There was...another goddess after me?" she started. "And she was your sister, Palutena?!" "Y-yes...she was..." Palutena answered. "B-But...I-I-I don't know what to say about it." "Also, who's this...'Lucifer' guy?" Phosphora asked. "He sounds really scary. Do you know anything about this guy?" "U-Um..." Palutena started. "I don't think Lady Palutena feels comfortable talking about it right now," said Arlon. "Besides, we must focus on the mission at hand. Young Master Pit's life is at stake and we need to think of a plan to save him as soon as possible." Cragalanche nodded in agreement about that. "You're right, Arlon," Palutena replied. "In fact, I think I already have the perfect plan to save Pit." "You... You do?" Viridi asked. "Yes, I do," Palutena replied. "I know a place where we can bring Pit back to life, but I'm going to need someone to head over the exact place I tell them to." "I'll do it!" Dark Pit volunteered. This made everyone else surprised. Before they could say anything, Dark Pit continued, "I know that it sounds strange coming from me, but Pit did whatever it took to save my life. I must return the favor and I'm pretty sure that goes for everyone else." Everybody else nodded in agreement. "You're right," Palutena agreed. "But we better get some rest. We have a big plan ahead of us." "You got that right, Lady Palutena," said Phosphora. "Don't worry. I'm not going to call you 'ma'am' again." She giggled at that part. "You better not," said Palutena. Everybody else went to their rooms. Luckily, Viridi's temple, including Palutena's once its fully repaired, had enough rooms for their allies to rest. But when Viridi slept in her room, she began to have a nightmare.

Viridi suddenly woke up in a dark and empty space. "Huh? Where am I?" she wondered. "I better look around and see what is going on here." She then began moving forward to figure out what was going on. Suddenly, she saw someone lying on the ground. "Pit? Is that you?" she wondered. Viridi rushed to the angel and found him unconscious. But when she picked up his body, she found something else shocking. She gasped as she saw Pit's wings burnt to the bone. "N-No!" she cried. "I don't want to see him again like this!" But after she said that, Pit's body disappeared. "P-Pit?! Where did you go?!" she asked in shock and fear. Suddenly, she heard scary wings flapping behind her. Viridi turned around and saw something horrifying. "Th-The Chaos Kin?!" she exclaimed. "How are you still alive?! I thought you were dead?!" The Chaos Kin didn't reply and began to chase Viridi. The Nature Goddess got up to her feet and ran away from the creature as fast as she could. But the Chaos Kin was faster than Viridi and quickly caught up and tackled the Goddess of Nature. "Let me go!" she yelled, but the Chaos Kin's grip was too strong. As she was struggling to break free, she felt a hard stab to her gut. This was due to Devil Pit and his Sword of Death. "Y-You...!" she coughed. "Hmhmhmhmhm... Don't worry, you'll be joined HER soon enough!" Devil Pit chuckled and continued to stab Viridi until he gave her the final fatal one.

"AAAAHHHH!" Viridi screamed as she woke up with a fright and began to spasm in fear. She held her legs close to her face. Suddenly, she noticed her door opened up and the person the came into her room was Palutena. "Viridi? Are you okay?" she asked, worried. "I heard you scream. What happened?" "Palutena. I had a nightmare!" Viridi cried as tears poured from her eyes. "It was D-Devil Pit! H-He and the Chaos K-Kin killed me and-and I saw Pit's broken body!" Palutena was heartbroken to hear Viridi say that. She gently embraced her in a hug which Viridi slowly returned. "Don't even think about it anymore," the Goddess of Light comforted. "Believe me, you helped Pit out with everything I've been through because of those monsters. You remind me so much about him. I think of you as a daughter like how I treated Pit like a son. I'm more of a mother figure to the both of you. So calm down. We'll get him back soon." Viridi stopped sobbing after that. "Thank you, Palutena," she said. "You're right. We WILL get him back. He did everything for us, so now it's our turn to save him." Palutena smiled warmly and began to leave. "Good night, Viridi," she said. "Good night, Palutena," Viridi replied. The Goddess of Light then left the room as Viridi began to sleep again. Don't worry, Pit, she thought to herself. We're going to bring you back. For Palutena, for us, even for me... She then drifted off to sleep. Meanwhile, Phosphora was also in her room sleeping as well. However, she was also having a nightmare.

Phosphora slowly woke up to see herself in a dark and empty space. "W-Where am I? What is this place?" she wondered. Suddenly, she heard screaming from far away. "What was that? I better go and see for myself!" She ran to the direction of the screaming and found something horrifying. She saw Devil Pit and Pit(?) killing Dark Pit. She gasped in horror for what she was witnessing right now. "HAHAHAHAHA! This is what you deserve for being a faker!" Devil Pit laughed. "I'M the original one here, you fake!" Pit(?) yelled. "You don't deserve to live after trying to hurt me!" Phosphora yelled at the top of her lungs, "STOOOOPPP!" This caused Devil Pit and Pit(?) to stop what they're doing and look at Phosphora. "I'm afraid you're too late," said Devil Pit. "He's already dead. And you will be joining him soon enough." Phosphora shivered in fear and then saw something wrong with Pit. His eyes are black and has a menacing stare. This caused her to run away from them as fast as she could, but the Devil and possessed angel quickly caught up to her. They then tackled the Lightning Nymph to the ground. "L-Let go of me!" Phosphora yelped as she struggled to break free from their grasp. But Devil Pit and Evil Pit were too strong for her to escape. They then used their murder weapons to stab Phosphora multiple times. "HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" they both laughed, sinisterly and menacingly until they gave her the final fatal stab.

"AAAAHHHHH!" Phosphora screamed as she woke up with a fright. She began to tear up after realizing it was just a bad dream. Suddenly, she noticed her door opening. She turned to see that it was Dark Pit who opened her door and he walked inside. "Phosphora, are you okay?" he asked in worry. "I heard you scream." "N-no. I had a bad dream," Phosphora replied. "I saw you getting killed by Devil Pit and some sort of evil possessed copy of Pit. When I tried to run away from them, they caught up to me and killed me, too!" Dark Pit frowned upon hearing Phosphora say that. He gently embraced her in a hug and gave her a small kiss on her forehead. This also caused Phosphora to stop sobbing and blush a little bit. "Don't worry. Everything will be okay once we bring Pit back," he comforted. "After we bring Pit back from his coma, we're going to strike Devil Pit down and show him what it feels like to mess with all of us together. Maybe after we defeat him, we'll also deal with Hades." Phosphora nodded in agreement. "You're right. Thanks for comforting me...Pittoo.~" She giggled at that last part. This also caused Dark Pit to blush a little bit. "I'll...I'm going to let only you call me that..." he said quietly. "Now get some sleep. We need to be ready for our mission to save Pit." After that, he headed to the door of Phosphora's room. But before he left, he looked back at the Lightning Nymph one more time. "Sweet dreams, Phosphora," he said. "You too," Phosphora replied. Dark Pit smiled and left Phosphora's room. Phosphora slowly placed her hand on her forehead where Dark Pit kissed. Thanks for comforting me, Pittoo, she thought to herself. We'll get your original counterpart back. I promise. After that, she slowly drifted back to sleep.
