Chapter 22: Scorched Feathers + DLC: Reunion of Old Enemies

Music playing: Solo Menu

Dark Pit was getting himself ready for the mission. After Palutena's temple had been reconstructed, everybody let Pit rest in their while he's in his coma. However, they don't have much time left before Pit succumbs to his injury and dies. "Are you ready yet?" asked Phosphora. "I'm almost ready. I just need to select my weapon of choice," Dark Pit replied. He continued searching until he found his weapon that seems fitting for him to use. "This one ought to do the trick!" he said. Turns out, he picked up the Electroshock Arm. "Oh! I remember that weapon!" said Phosphora upon noticing it. "You used this weapon during our training in order to prepare yourself for this mission." "Yep, and now I believe it is time to put it into good use," Dark Pit replied. Phosphora then gave Dark Pit a swift kiss on his cheek. "Good luck. You're going to need it," she added. "Thanks. Now then, it's time to begin the mission!" Dark Pit replied as he rushed to the door with his weapon equipped.

"I'm outta here!" yelled the dark angel as he leaped through the door, activated his Power of Flight, and flew into somewhere unknown. "Pit is still unconscious. With his wings burned up, he can't last much longer," said Palutena. "But I thought of a way to save him." "Of course you did," said Dark Pit. "We both owe Pit. You know that," Palutena replied. "Think of the sacrifices he made to save the both of us." Dark Pit thought for a moment then realized about what Pit did to both him and the Goddess of Light. "Now that you mention it, you do make a good point," he said. "And I did agree to help you with your plan. So anyway, what's the next step?" "Go to the City of Souls. It's just a little ways ahead," Palutena explained. "It's the place where souls make their final passage into death...or back into life." "Oh, I get it. You want to turn back the clock and cheat death," said Viridi. "Raising the dead, keeping the near-dead alive... It's pretty dirty business." "I know the stakes, but we don't have a choice," said Palutena. "Hey, weren't you two just at war with each other?" Dark Pit questioned. Well, besides the point where Devil Pit caused both of you problems, he added in thought. "Mind your own business!" Viridi yelled. "I'm not so petty that I can't extend an olive branch at a time like this. Especially since that monster is still lurking around and is going to cause us more trouble. Just like when he was responsible to corrupt Palutena with his so-called 'right hand pet.'" "Thank you, Viridi. And thank you for helping Pit when I couldn't," Palutena thanked. "Just so you know, this is NOT a hug-it-out moment," Viridi replied. "Well except the fact of how we all treated with each other last night. Pit's life is at stake and the Devil is still lurking around to commit more crimes. We must bring Pit back to life as fast as we can before it's too late!" "Right! Now then, time to get to my destination!" said Dark Pit. He continued to take down more Underworld minions, but then he decided to point something out. "Not to hurt your feelings, but THIS Pit doesn't need your help to fly," he said. "So don't expect me to suck up to you." "If your flight's unlimited, you don't have to battle on land," said Palutena. "So air battle only? It feels strange to say it, but I'm disappointed," Viridi sighed. But why do I have a feeling that somebody is coming at this very moment to strike? she added in thought. Dark Pit flew through the unknown forest while taking down more Underworld Army troops. He then arrived at the City of Souls. "What kind of city IS this?!" he asked after receiving two more Recover Orbs to replenish his health. "It's unlike any earthly city," Palutena explained. "The spirits of the dead gather here." "So, basically, this is the Underworld," Dark Pit wondered. "You got it!" replied a voice. Turns out, it came from Hades who revealed himself in a projection. "Oh, it's you," said Dark Pit after noticing him. "Our hero's looking a little goth today," said Hades. "I hope the stresses of life haven't gotten you down. That would be ever so tragic." "No one's listening," Dark Pit replied and then Hades' projection faded away. "It's hilarious how you have no sense of humor!" he chuckled. "But that sourpuss attitude's gonna give you an ulcer someday, you know." "Anyway, Pittoo, your understanding is correct. The Underworld is where souls go," Viridi explained. "As you know, Reapers are responsible for carrying souls." "But we've got an excess of souls these days," said Hades. "The Reapers can't handle them all!" "That's because those Reapers are busy with 'other business,'" said Devil Pit, who, unknown to everybody else, was following Devil Pit. "The souls are harvested somewhere else, but I'm not going to reveal it just yet." "So the extra souls come here?" Dark Pit asked. "Yes, though some just fade away," Palutena answered. "And others are...well...eaten." "Even in the afterlife, it's survival of the fittest!" said Hades. "That makes some sense," Viridi agreed. "The weak are consumed, just as nature intended." After receiving three more Recover Orbs, Dark Pit continued on his way though the City of Souls and took down more Underworld enemies. He then entered a small tunnel. But unaware of the dark angel, Devil Pit was following him. "Don't think you'll revive your original counterpart that easily," he said. "I'm not going to let you reach your destination." He, too, entered the tunnel to follow Dark Pit on the quiet.

Music stops and switches: Scorched Feathers (Part 2)

After getting out of tunnel, Dark Pit received four more Recovery Orbs to replenish his health. "Remember when I said that some souls get eaten?" Palutne asked and Dark Pit nodded at the answer. "Well, here's the hideous devourer of souls himself!" said Viridi. Right on queue, the Soul-Eating Monster appeared out of nowhere to attack Dark Pit. "You weren't kidding about the hideous part!" he yelled as he proceeded to attack it. "I find him quite adorable, actually. And souls CAN be very delicious," said Hades. "Luckily, they don't possess personalities or anything like that." "What—they don't?" Dark Pit asked. "Of course not! Souls have no more personality than blood or bone," Hades replied. "They're just another resource to harvest from living beings." "Your disregard for life is just astounding," said Viridi. "Could you be any more callous?" "Well, I could try. You know, souls are a bit like taffy," Hades continued. "Sweet enough to eat, but pliable enough to mold into any shape I can imagine." "I don't even... That's just so... Um... Nuh-uh!" said Viridi in disgust. "I'd love to get my hands on Pittooey's soul. So dark, so chewy, so malleable!" Hades continued further. "A powerful spirit like that shouldn't be wasted on Ol' Chomper's lunch." Well, that might not be the case since Dark Pit took down the monster. I don't they he knows that I even HAVE a soul, the dark angel thought to himself. I'm just an incomplete clone, but that doesn't mean I'm nothing like what Devil Pit told me. During the flight, Dark Pit was unaware that Devil Pit was following him. "Hades, you might think that all of this dirty work was because of what you do," he started. "But you do not know about what is coming at you along with your enemies. It's like you don't even KNOW that I'm the one causing you some trouble." He then continued to follow Dark Pit on the quiet. Dark Pit continued to take down more Underworld enemies that were blocking his way, then Viridi decided to ask a question. "Do you think Hades was serious about molding souls into other forms?" she started. "It would explain his endless supply of troops. He's making them out of souls!" said Palutena in fear. "Professor Palutena does it again!" said Hades. "That's because those souls were executed by your hands after you found them useless to your army," said Devil Pit. "However, most of these souls were NOT killed by your minions." "But wait... If that's the case, there's no WAY the Underworld Army could ever lose!" Viridi shouted in disbelief. "Uh... SPOILER ALERT!" said Hades. "As if YOU are winning, Hades," said Devil Pit. "You have forgotten that I'M going to take control over everything." "So let me get this straight. All the lives lost in battle go to building up the Underworld Army..." Viridi started. "You got it. So the more fighting there is, the bigger my army gets," said Hades. "My goodness! It feels wonderful to be on the winning team." "Actually, you're more on the losing team, Hades!" said Devil Pit. "After all, I have a couple of spies that are willing to do my bidding and bring me those souls." "Hold on a second. Your math is a little off," said Dark Pit. "You might want to break out the Brain Age, pal." "I have a brain age of 24!" said Viridi. "Oh my god..." Devil Pit groaned as he facepalmed. "Can you stop breaking the fourth wall for a few minutes?!" "And that's relevant because...?" Palutena asked. "Think about all the casualties there have been in this war between the gods," Dark Pit continued. "If Hades was right, the Underworld would be way more crowded with monsters." "Then that means that one fallen soldier doesn't equal one new Underworld monster," said Palutena. "After all, creating something as corporeal as a monster would take..." "A TON of souls!" Viridi gasped. "...But that's a huge waste! It's...an abomination!" "Yeah, that's just about the sickest thing I've ever heard. We HAVE to stop him," Dark Pit agreed. "But that's NOTHING compared to MY master plan," said Devil Pit. "You just want to rule the entire world, Hades, while I want to destroy it. Those souls belong to me! WE...NEED...POWER!" Suddenly, Hades' projection appeared right in front of the dark angel. "You poor deluded things! You'll never stop me!" he boomed. "Not in MY realm!" He swung his arm at Dark Pit, only for the angel to hide behind a pillar, causing it to slice in half. "Egah!" he yelled. "Don't let him get under your skin!" Palutena warned. "Not a problem," Dark Pit replied as he flew right through Hades' projection. "It's been great touring the City of Souls and all, but we're here to save Pit, right?" he continued. "Hey, no need to cop an attitude. Just keep moving forward," said Palutena. "Get a room, lovebirds," Hades smirked. (A/N: NO! That is NOT a ship and will NEVER be one, Hades.) Dark Pit continued onwards and took down more enemies. Along the way, he approached a glowing stream of souls flowing around the air. "This WAS a stream of souls. But so many lives have been lost that it's now a torrent," Palutena explained. "All souls need to find their final resting place down here so that life can spring anew. That's part of the natural cycle of life. But Hades keeps playing with souls. He won't let them rest. His bloodlust has thrown everything off balance." "It's like humans disrupting the balance on Earth! It's unforgivable!" said Viridi. "You've GOT to be joking," Dark Pit scoffed. "ALL you gods and your stupid wars are the ones throwing everything off balance!" "You little nothing! How dare you?" Viridi yelled. "He may have a point. We have the Underworld Army out to hoard souls. We have the Forces of Nature trying to wipe out humanity. We have the humans continuing to exploit nature and each other. And we have us—gods—who drag the entire world into our power struggles," Palutena explained. "But it doesn't matter how this started. Now we know who's profiting from it." "Hades! Left unchecked, he threatens us all," said Viridi. "Then our only option is to take him down," said Dark Pit. "But to do that, we're going to need Pit's help. Let's get him patched up," said Viridi. Dark Pit continued on his way though the Underworld while taking down more enemies. After that, a type of spring came into his view. "Up ahead is the Rewind Spring," said Palutena. "That's where you need to go. I'll bring Pit in right next to you." Dark Pit flew closer to his destination to save Pit. "As the name implies, the Rewind Spring can return things to their original states," Viridi explained. "But if you soak for too long, it'll rewind things too far, and that can get weird." But before Dark Pit was about to land on the Rewind Spring, Devil Pit was heading straight for him at a fast speed. "Now I got you!" he yelled. "Pittoo! Watch out behind you!" Palutena warned. Dark Pit turned around quickly, but too late, and he was struck by a swiping hand from Devil Pit. This absorbed most of Pandora's powers from his wings.

Dark Pit slowly lifted his head back up to face Devil Pit. "Y-You again...!" he groaned. "If you really think I'm going to let you reach the Rewind Spring to revive your original counterpart then think again," said Devil Pit. "I'm not going to let you ruin my master plan any longer. You destroyed my entire clan and ruined my feasts and rituals. Now you shall pay the price!" He then absorbed Pandora's powers to form the Pandora Claws. "How did you even create the Pandora Claws?" Palutena questioned upon noticing them. "Well for starters, Dark Pit already absorbed Pandora's powers back at the Labyrinth where I was taken," Devil Pit explained. "As you may have realized, I only absorbed half of them. That means Dark Pit's flight power has lowered a little bit." "Now that's just low!" said Dark Pit. "I'll just have to defeat you right here and now once again!" "But before we begin our battle, there is something you need to know," said Devil Pit. "What is it?" Viridi asked. "Dark Pit, you DID say that it was Hades that started this whole disaster, right?" Devil Pit asked the dark angel. "Not to mention that it was the War of Chaos that threw everything off balance." "Well, yes," Dark Pit answered. "Where are you going with this?" "Turns out there was somebody else that started the chaos by burning an entire forest to the ground," Devil Pit continued. "But the problem is that you don't even know WHO was the one responsible for it." Everyone was silent upon hearing all of that. "Now then, how about we play the 'Cat and Mouse' game again?" Devil Pit offered. "But this time, you'll NEVER catch me! Let the game begin!" He then flew away to begin the chase. "Oh no you don't!" Dark Pit yelled. "Get back over here!" He then began to chased after Devil Pit on hot pursuit.

Devil Pit started the fight by firing shots at Dark Pit with the Claws. Dark Pit avoided those shots and fired a charged shot from his Electroshock Arm to deal massive damage. This also caused Devil Pit to be paralyzed. "Shit!" he yelled. "I can barely move!" "Now's my chance!" said Dark Pit as he flew at Devil Pit and proceeded to attack him with a melee combo. That is, until Devil Pit used a charge shot to push Dark Pit back. During the fight, Palutena and Viridi talked about something. "Have you noticed something, Viridi?" Palutena asked. "What is it?" Viridi asked back. "I have a feeling that something about Devil Pit telling us about the forest burnt to the ground may sound very true," Palutena continued. "He did mention somebody else burning it down, but we're not entirely sure who it was." "Now that you mention, you do make a good point," Viridi agreed. "But there's something I can't seem to put my finger on." Dark Pit continued to fire different shots at Devil Pit before unleashing a special attack. "Yowch! That was a big attack I say!" said Devil Pit. "But don't think I can counterattack like THIS!" He then flew right behind Devil Pit and gave him a surprise melee attack. He then proceeded to use a melee combo to give Dark Pit a lot of damage. "Argh!" he yelled in pain after getting away from the attack. "I told you! Even when you're the cat and I'm the mouse, the roles can switch out eventually," said Devil Pit. "Yeah? Well let's see how you can avoid THIS!" said Dark Pit and charged at Devil Pit as fast as he could, but Devil Pit quickly flew away from him. Dark Pit fired different shots at Devil Pit who he barely dodged. That is, until the dark angel fired a charged shot to paralyze Devil Pit. "Argh! Not again!" he yelled. "Now to finish you!" said Dark Pit. He then proceeded to take him down with a melee and shooting attack combo. At long last, Devil Pit was defeated. His Pandora claws shattered and Pandora's powers went back to Dark Pit's wings. "Don't think that it's over yet!" Devil Pit yelled in defeat. "I'll get you next time!" He then flew away from Dark Pit. "What a coward!" Dark Pit scoffed. "Now I better head to the Rewind Spring and save Pit from his coma." He quickly flew to the Rewind Spring to bring Pit back.

Music stops and switches to: Boss Fight 1

Dark Pit soon arrived at the Rewind Spring. But as he slowly began to observe it, a glowing energy suddenly appeared from his wings, lifting him up in the air. "Aaauuuugh!" he yelled in pain. The energy then came out of his wings, causing Dark Pit to collapsed back to the ground, and flew into the Rewind Spring. "WHAT is going on?!" Viridi yelled. Suddenly, the energy that was in the Rewind Spring merged together to form Pandora back to life. "Well, that worked out nicely," she giggled and her color form changed from blue to red. "Pandora... Ugh!" Dark Pit groaned as he slowly got back up to his feet. Meanwhile, Devil Pit slowly came to the Rewind Spring and saw it all happened. Turns out he didn't fly away from the Rewind Spring. He instead flew to a hiding spot where neither of them would notice. "So, my captor has revived herself back in the Rewind Spring," he said. "This makes things much easier to get my revenge on her for capturing me." The rematch between the dark angel and the Goddess of Calamity has begun. "Wow! I sure wasn't expecting that!" Viridi exclaimed. "YOU can thank Dark Pit for bringing me to the Rewind Spring," said Pandora. "He was a rebellious servant, though it seems he still served my purposes in the end. But that little parasite DID steal my powers. And for that, he must pay!" "She can be quite frightening," said Palutena. "I hope I never get to that point," said Viridi. "Well, I sure hope I can finally get my hands on my captor for taking me to her Labyrinth in this place," said Devil Pit. "Just like I did to that clown of a god, Thanatos three years ago." During the battle, Palutena pointed something out. "Pandora's leftover power was what enabled Pittoo to fly," she said. "He basically had her remains living in his wings. Gross," said Viridi. "But standing too close to the Rewind Spring seems to have revived her." "Your freeloading days are over!" said Pandora. "Really. The whole flying thing worked out pretty well for me," said Dark Pit. "I might just defeat you again and steal your power back!" "I HIGHLY doubt that," Pandora scoffed. "Even I would doubt that he'll get her powers again," said Devil Pit. "But at least it would serve her right for what she did to me." It didn't take very long for Dark Pit to take Pandora down, but she wasn't done just yet. "Irritating little pest..." she said. "Time to exterminate you!" She suddenly flew back into the Rewind Spring. "You little creep, what are you up to this time?" Devil Pit asked. Soon enough, Pandora came out of the Rewind Spring in a different form. She was now known as; Amazon Pandora. "Whaaaaaaat?!" Palutena and Viridi exclaimed in shock, simultaneously. "Who is THAT?!" Dark Pit asked. "He he he he he he! It's the new, improved me!" Amazon Pandora giggled. "Ahhh... It's been so long since I've had a body! Eat your hearts out, ladies!" Devil Pit saw the whole thing happened and he was shocked. "I-I cannot believe this!" he exclaimed. "H-How did she get her body back after I stole her powers all those years ago?!" But as he looked at her, he began to blush a little bit. W-What is happening to me? he thought. W-Why is my face feeling red hot? W-Why is my heart pounding so much?! After a little while, he shook his head. I-I can't be in love with this bitch! he mentally yelled. S-She's supposed to be my enemy I faced all those years ago! After that, the battle continued. "SOMEone's overcompensating!" said Viridi, a tiny bit jealous. "Feeling a little inadequate, Viridi?" Palutena asked. "Of course she is. You should too! Just LOOK at me!" Amazon Pandora chuckled. "I liked her better when she was just an evil blob," said Palutena. "She's still an evil blob underneath. She just has better hair, that's all," said Viridi. "Grr! Once I get my hands on that bitch, I will choke the life out of her eyes when she sees me again!" Devil Pit growled. "She should fear me again after what I did to her. I'm going to give her instant Karma!" Dark Pit avoided Amazon Pandora's attacks and then proceeded to take her down. It may seem like she was defeated, but she was only kidding and got back up with surprise attack. "Geeze! She NEVER knows when to give up, does she?" Devil Pit wondered. Just then, they heard another voice. "There you are, friends. I finally tracked you down! You're a stealthy bunch," he said. It was Hades who followed them. "That's because I was using my power of ninjary," said Palutena. "Riiiight," said Viridi. "What, you don't believe me?" Palutena asked. "I think that's something everyone can agree on," said Dark Pit. "Tone down the sass, little angel," said Viridi. "That's rich coming from someone sassy all the time," said Devil Pit. "It's been a long time, Lord Hades," said Amazon Pandora. "Hm?" Hades wondered. "And you are...?" "Don't tell me you've forgotten your old friend Pandora," said Amazon Pandora. Hades thought for a moment about that before replying, "I don't remember you being so...animated." "That's not the half of it!" Amazon Pandora giggled. "Are you sure you don't remember your mercenary you hired back in the day, Hades?" Devil Pit questioned. "After all, you DID hire her to track down different demons to execute. She instead found me." "If the Rewind Spring did this to Pandora, I shudder to think of its effect on Pitty!" said Hades, worried about the effects. "No one wants to see him in that outfit. I'd better destroy the spring." "You can't do that!" said Palutena. "Come on, Pittoo! Get rid of Pandora for good!" Viridi rooted. "Oh, don't you worry!" said Dark Pit. "Watch out for that heart-shaped crystal barrier," Palutena warned. "You see, it's—" "Reflecting my shots back at me, right?" Dark Pit interrupted. "Well...yes," said Palutena. "I got it, so stop telling me what to do!" said Dark Pit. "It's funny when it comes from someone like you, Dark Pit," said Devil Pit. "After all, you didn't even say anything when you and Pit fought me the first time." After so many dodging and attacking, Dark Pit defeated Amazon Pandora. "Ow!" she cried in defeat. "This coming from the mighty Pandora?!" Dark Pit questioned.

Music stops

But even though Amazon Pandora was defeated, she slowly got back up again. "Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you again!" she started as she put her hands up in defense. "And how do you expect me to believe you?" Dark Pit asked. "Here. Let me help," Amazon Pandora continued. She then went to Pit's unconscious body and picked him up. "You wanted to revive him, right?" she asked. Dark Pit nodded. "Well, I heard that Devil Pit has gotten loose three years ago," Amazon Pandora continued. "If you can bring Pit back to life, he can help you to track him down. But you better hurry! He doesn't have much time left!" She then handed Pit's unconscious body to the dark angel and flew away. "Didn't expect her to help us," Dark Pit said aloud. He then slowly approached the Rewind Spring, lowered himself to his knees, and held Pit's unconscious body closer to the spring. "You only need to dip him in," said Viridi. Dark Pit did as he was told and carefully lowered Pit's upper half, dipping his wings into the the water and then pull him back up again. Pit's wings suddenly glow and return to normal. This also caused the angel to wake up after that. "Hmm?" he wondered and then got back up to his feet, doing lots of flips, "Ha ha ha!" and then struck a pose, "Woo hoo hoo hoo!" he cheered. He then looked around for moment. "Where am I?" he wondered and then he noticed Dark Pit in front of him. "Pittoo?!" he gasped. Dark Pit ran off to the edge of ths spring and attempted to fly again. "Hmpfh!" he said as he got up, but he instead began to fall. "Whoa-oh-oh-oh!" he cried. "He can't fly anymore," said Palutena. "Fine, fine. I'll get him," said Viridi as she opened up a light pillar and whisked Dark Pit to her temple. Pit then looked up at the sky, happily. "Lady Palutena! Lady Palutena!" he cried in joy. "Welcome back, Pit," said Palutena as she opened up a light pillar. "I missed you so much!" Pit continued. "I missed you too. Let's go home," said Palutena, happy as well. But before she could whisk Pit back to her temple, Devil Pit came out of his hiding spot, ran up to the angel, and pushed him away from the light pillar. "AAAHHH!" Pit cried as he tumbled through he ground and suddenly grabbed onto the edge of the Rewind Spring to hold his fall. "Oh no!" Palutena cried in worry. "PIT!" Viridi cried in fear.

Devil Pit slowly walked up to the held in place angel with a menacing look in his eyes. "Did you really think I would let you get back to your goddess after you were revived from your coma, Pit?" he questioned. "Well, you're mistaken. This time, I'm not going to let you get in the way of my plans anymore. I hope you said your last prayers, because you have little time left, before I push you down to the deepest reaches of the Underworld!" "Y-You can't do that!" Pit yelled. "I cannot die here, not after what you did to me!" "Too bad! Enjoy your last remaining time while you fall, before you become nothing more than a splattered corpse! HAHAHAHAHAHA!" Devil Pit laughed and he pushed Pit's hands from the edge of the spring. "NNOOOOOO!" Pit cried. "NOT AGAAAAIIINNNN! VIRIDI! LADY PALUTENA! GET ME BACK UP!" "I-I can't extract you! You're too far away!" Palutena cried. "Someone! Save him!" Viridi cried. "So sorry, but it's time for you to mourn your angel," said Devil Pit. "But I don't think you'll mourn him properly since he is about to die! HAHAHAHAHAHA!" "Not on my watch!" said a new voice. Pit's fall was broken when someone caught him just in time and brought him back to the Rewind Spring. "P-Phosphora?" Pit asked. "Thank goodness I arrived just in time before you fell to your death," said Phosphora. "You!" yelled Devil Pit after noticing her. "I will slice you to pieces and then you both can die together!" He charged at Phosphora with his Sword of Death taken out and attempted to strike, but his slash was stopped by another sword. He recognized the sword and found out where it came from. He lifted his head to see the person who blocked his attack. "WHAT?!" he yelled in shock. "Well, look what we have here," said Amazon Pandora. "If it isn't my prisoner. I see that you escaped from your prison. How DID you escape?" Devil Pit moved back from the strike and landed a bit farther away from his enemies. "You can blame that angel right there for freeing me from my prison, my captor," said Devil Pit. "And I see that you're back in your original form ever since I faced you the first time all those years ago." This shocked Pit, Phosphora, Palutena, and Viridi. Hades wasn't there at the moment since he left after noticing Pit revived from the Rewind Spring. "Wait! You know her?" Pit asked. "It's a long story," said Devil Pit. "Literally, because I first met and fought her many years ago." "Well, story time will have to wait, because I cannot let you hurt Pit any longer!" said Phosphora. "You're right about that," said Amazon Pandora. "Now then, I think you must be punished for running away like that!" "Palutena, take Pit back to your temple," Phosphora ordered. "We'll take it from here." "Okay, good luck to you both," said Palutena as she opened up a light pillar. "Come on Pit, let's get you back." "Okay, Lady Palutena!" Pit affirmed and was whisked away from the Rewind Spring back to Palutena's temple. "Be careful!" Viridi warned. "Devil Pit is not like who he is anymore. He nearly killed Dark Pit, so don't take things the wrong way!" "We'll be careful, Mistress Viridi!" said Phosphora. "We shall give this bad boy the punishment he deserves!" said Amazon Pandora. "But why are you even helping us?" Phosphora asked. "I know about this bad boy's behavior and he must be stopped," Amazon Pandora answered. "That's what you think!" said Devil Pit. "Since you're still persistent in standing in my way, I shall show no mercy! Allow me to show you what I can do!" He then split his Sword of Death into two and then focused his powers. Suddenly, the broken pieces grew back to their original forms. The sight of this shocked the Lightning Nymph and the Goddess of Calamity. "How did you do that?!" Phosphora gasped. "Did you separated your sword and then created another one?" Amazon Pandora asked. "Yes. They are now known as; The Dual Swords of Death!" said Devil Pit. "With these, I shall slice your bodies into lots of pieces and then gobble them up. Prepare for another rematch between me and the two of you bitches!" "Let's rock and roll!" Phosphora and Amazon Pandora said, simultaneously, and all three of them readied themselves to begin their battle.

Devil Pit started the fight by charging at Phosphora and Amazon Pandora. The two of them avoided his attacks and Amazon Pandora countered with her sword by slashing at Devil Pit with a melee combo. "Not bad! But can you survive THIS?!" said Devil Pit. He then charged at Amazon Pandora with his swords and attacked with a melee combo. After that attack, Amazon Pandora was left with a LOT of blood coming out of her wounds. "A-Ack!" she cried. "I-I'm bleeding! S-So much!" "Are you inflicted with Bleed again?" Phosphora asked. "No! Her wounds are more fatal than I suspected!" said Palutena. "That's because she's inflicted with Lethal Bleed," said Devil Pit. "It makes her move a lot more slower, defense is lowered intensely, it drains your health away much faster than Bleed, and it lasts really long." "But don't worry. Me or Palutena can heal those wounds quickly when that happens," said Viridi. "Try to avoid his attacks when this happens again." "We'll be careful, Mistress," said Phosphora. After while, Amazon Pandora's wounds healed and the duo continued their fight against Devil Pit. "Try dodging this, Devil Pit!" Phosphora shouted. "Time to put Electrokinesis to good use!" She then summoned strong storms above Devil Pit and lightning struck down at him. Devil Pit barely dodge the attacks, but one of them hit him and he became paralyzed. "Damn it!" he yelled. "I'm not going to let that stop me again!" "Be careful with that attack, Phosphora!" Viridi warned. "It may be strong, but you have a cooldown for 20 seconds! Use your attack wisely!" "I'll be careful, Mistress Viridi," said Phosphora. "I see how we're doing this," said Devil Pit. "But let's see if you can dodge THIS!" He charged at Phosphora with his swords glowing and slashed at her, only for the Lightning Nymph to dodge it quickly. "Yikes!" she yelped. "Be careful with his Death skill," Palutena warned. "Since he has two swords, there's a higher chance to kill you instantly. So dodge that attack when that happens." "Got it!" Phosphora affirmed. "We'll take down this escaped prisoner in no time!" said Amazon Pandora. The three warriors continued their battle and the girls used their attacks to try to paralyze Devil Pit again, but the Devil avoided the attacks this time. Amazon Pandora then spawned bombs to slow Devil Pit down, which she did, and they exploded to deal him a lot of damage. "I can't wait to defeat the both of you again!" said Devil Pit. "Ever since you both humiliated me a few times now, I need to get my revenge on you. After I kill the both of you, you will rot within deepest reaches of the dark Abyss." "Okay! What even IS this 'Abyss' you're talking about right now?" Phosphora questioned. "Are you even talking about the Underworld?" "Not quite," Devil Pit answered. "However I'm not going to tell you more about it just yet!" "Oh really?" said Amazon Pandora. "Well, naughty boy, us girls need to punish you for what you are doing. You need to be taught some manners." This made Devil Pit blush madly about that, but then he quickly shook his head. "I'm not going to fall for your tricks, bitch!" he said. "I need to get my revenge!" Was Devil Pit blushing for a bit? Palutena wondered in thought. Hmm... I wonder... But then, Amazon Pandora used her heart-shaped projectiles to paralyze Devil Pit. "Fuck! Not again!" he yelled. "Now's you're chance, Phosphora!" said Amazon Pandora. "Right! You're finished, Devil Pit!" Phosphora yelled and unleashed her powerful storm attack again. Devil Pit couldn't move out of the way in time and was struck by the powerful lightning bolts. He was soon defeated after that. "How did I lose to you again?!" he yelled in defeat. "Because you cannot stop us with girl power!" said Amazon Pandora in victory. "Aw yeah!" Phosphora cheered.

Devil Pit tumbled through the Rewind Spring and struggled to get back up. One of his swords shattered, leaving him with only one left. "Argh..." he grunted after he got back up. "You may have won this battle...but I will win this war...! And then...you will all die within the flames of Abyss!" "Okay! Mind giving us answers why you keep mentioning this so-called 'Abyss?'" Phosphora questioned. "You kept mentioning it every time now!" "Not to mention that it sounds like you are with them for some reason," Amazon Pandora added. "As much as I would like to talk to you about it, I'm afraid I can't tell you much about it right now," said Devil Pit. "And why not?" Phosphora asked. "Because I have too much work to do right now," Devil Pit continued. "And I cannot do that right now if you're standing in my way. But should you need some answers for your other questions, I suggest you take this with you." He then tossed Phosphora another tape. "Another tape?" she asked. "Why do you even have these? What do they even mean?" "You need to go back to your base and figure it out for yourself," Devil Pit replied. "Now if you'll excuse me, I must take my leave. Business calls elsewhere," Devil Pit continued. "But heed this warning, this isn't the last time you see me. Sayonara! HAHAHAHAHAHA!" He then flew away from the Underworld as fast as he could. Phosphora then turned to Amazon Pandora. "Can you tell me why you want to help us, Pandora?" "Well, Phosphora, I cannot let Devil Pit continue his crimes any longer," Amazon Pandora explained. "After all, it was me and Thanatos that capture him by the orders of Lord Hades. But I don't think we want him to know that we're on your side just yet, because he might get suspicious." "Good point," said Phosphora. "You and Thanatos can keep this secret safe between me and my allies, Pandora." "Thanks, Phosphora," Amazon Pandora thanked. "And I'll protect you no matter what." Phosphora smiled upon hearing that. "You know, you remind me of a sister I never had in my life," she said. "Really? What makes you say that?" Amazon Pandora asked. "Ever since Devil Pit murdered by brother, Hercules, and father, Zeus, I'm worried that I might be the next one to die," Phosphora explained. "Pit acts like my brother and you may also be like my sister. Can you please stay by my side whenever possible, Pandora?" "Of course, sis," Amazon Pandora replied and then she hugged her comfortably. "I promise that I'll protect you no matter what," she added. "Just like what Pit did to you as well." "Thanks, sis," Phosphora thanked. "Welcome to our team, Pandora," said Palutena. "Yeah. Even though you made me jealous a little bit because of your 'beauty,' I think I'll let it slide for once," said Viridi. "Now how about we head to your temple, Palutena?" Phosphora offered. "We have to listen to this tape Devil Pit gave us." "Right," said Palutena. "I'll go and bring Thanatos with me," said Amazon Pandora. "But we're going to leave out of Lord Hades' watch. Like I said, we cannot let him know that we're on your side. Otherwise, he'll become suspicious." "Okay," said Viridi. "Come on, Phosphora, let's get you to my temple," said Palutena as she opened up a light pillar and whisked Phosphora to her temple. "And now to go and get Thanatos," said Amazon Pandora as she left to go and find the God of Death.

Phosphora arrived at Palutena's temple where everybody else was waiting. Dark Pit walked up to Phosphora and gently embraced her in a hug, which the Lightning Nymph returned slowly. She also noticed that Dark Pit was in tears a little bit. "I'm glad to see that you're safe," he spoke, quietly. "I don't know what would happen if he killed you." "Don't worry, Pittoo, I'm here safe and sound," Phosphora giggled. "Yeah yeah. Like I said, I'll let you call me that," said Dark Pit and then turned to Pit. "Unlike THIS Pit Stain right here!" "Come on! I just got back from my coma, and this is your way of welcoming me back?" Pit groaned as he pouted. "Now now, you two, settle down," said Palutena. "We're here for one important thing only, and that is to listen to the next tape." "Don't forget about us!" said another voice. It came from Thanatos, who was also with Amazon Pandora. "I brought him here to listen to this tape," the Goddess of Calamity explained. "I told him about the news and he couldn't agree more to help us with the cause." "Well it would make sense since he told me and Lady Palutena that he'll help us," said Pit. "You're not wrong about that," said Palutena. "As much as we would like to chat, we have important business to take care of," said Arlon. "Let's bring everyone together to listen to the tape." Everybody else nodded in agreement and gathered everyone around to listen to the tape. Phosphora took out the tape marked "Prerecorded Message," placed it into the tape player, and pressed PLAY.

"I've been wondering about one thing and one thing only," said the voice of Lucifer. "Let's cut this shit right now! I know what you did to me, brother! Who on Earth would leave behind the only family member behind after our parents were ruthlessly murdered? Aside from the SECOND TIME! I ordered you to stay put, but you instead left me behind after entering the machine we made to teleport me to where I need to be. You ended up at the same place where I first met Palutena. But, rest assured, I have better plans prepared just for you. We are a family, and families never leave one behind. Believe me, I know the pain you feel ever since you went on your missions. You were once lost again, but you will soon be found. I'm going to come find you, brother! I'm going to COME...FIND...YOU!" *click*

Everyone was on edge after they heard the message. "W-What even was that message?" Pit stuttered. "A-And who did he mean by 'brother?'" "I-I-I don't know!" Palutena stuttered. "But I have a feeling that there is something horrible going on." "I know," Viridi agreed. "But there is no time for that! We must prepare ourselves for the final battle against Hades!" "Right. Lady Palutena, what do you think?" Pit asked. "Viridi has a point," said Palutena. "Because if we don't stop Hades as soon as possible, he'll continue his bloodlust on the humans to expand his army!" "You're right about that," Phosphora agreed. "Speak of that, Thanatos and I must return to the Underworld quickly before Lord Hades notices where we were," said Amazon Pandora. "Yeah. If he noticed that we're gone for too long, he'll get suspicious," said Thanatos. "Quite right. Best to head back to your home base," said Arlon. "We wish you guys luck in taking down Devil Pit," said Amazon Pandora. "Even if it means you have to take down Lord Hades, too." "Thanks. We'll do our best," said Pit. Thanatos and Amazon Pandora soon teleported back to the Underworld. "Well we better get ready, too," said Viridi. "Be careful with the battle, though. Hades is no joke!" "Thank you, Viridi," Pit thanked. "And...sorry for forcing you to sacrifice my wings to save Pittoo." "It's okay. You had to do what you had to do," said Viridi. She and her commanders were soon whisked away to her temple. "Can you at least stop calling me that?" Dark Pit growled. "Well anyways, we need to get some rest," said Palutena. "We have a big battle to prepare." "Right. Let's go to our rooms and rest," said Pit. They soon went to their rooms to rest and prepare themselves for the final battle against Hades.

Meanwhile in the City of Souls, Devil Pit was hiding to wait for someone. "My spies should arrive any minute now," he said. Suddenly, he saw Reapers and Reapettes coming towards him. "Oh good. You're finally here," he said. "Did you bring the souls I asked you to do?" As on queue, the Reapers brought out souls from humans that were previously killed during the war. "Perfect! Our backup plan is going smoothly," said Devil Pit. "Now all we have to do is to transport them to a safe place and Hades will begin to lose his powers." He then opened up a portal to somewhere. "Let's head into this portal. It will take us to our meeting spot," he continued. "Don't worry. Hades won't even know about all of this." The Reapers and Reapettes nodded and went into the portal. "Let's see how well you can defeat me now, fools!" Devil Pit continued further. "Once everything goes as planned, our backup plan will end all of you! HAHAHAHAHAHA!" He then entered the portal to follow his spies.

Looks like we're getting some foreshadowing here in this story, ladies and gentlemen! We're also getting closer to the end of it all. Well...at least one of them anyways. And before you say anything...yes. I ship my OC with Pandora. Anyways, stay tuned for chapter twenty three, review, and have a great day!
