Lighting was headed to his trailer when he saw Cal walking to his own trailer. Lightning had run to catch up. "Cal! Cal, wait up!" He called. Cal stopped and gave Lightning a mean glare. Lightning quickly apologized for last week. "Hey.. I wanted to apologize. I'm sorry about last week.. I was.. I was on this weird medication and I guess I was a little dehydrated and"-"Don't use the I was dehydrated line on me Light. Forget it, I don't even care. You got what you wanted, your plan worked." Cal snarled. Lightning raised a brow and asked. "What plan? What are you talking about?" Cal snapped! "Your plan to make me emotionally unable to race! It worked McQueen! And now I'm eliminated!" "Woah, Cal I.. I never"-"Save it!.. Some friend you are.." Cal turned to leave, but Lighting stopped him. "Woah, Cal.. I never planned anything. Last week was a fluke. I'm on new medication now and I feel a lot better and.. I was just going through some stuff last week." "Yeah... We all are Lightnin.. Glad you're doin better.. I'll.." Cal paused. He knew better and he knew what he did today. "Look.. I know you didn't plan anything. Sorry.. I just.. It's been a long day and.. I'm stressed. I'll see you next season.." Cal replied in such a depressing way. Lightning had to ask. "What do you mean next season? You're not coming to any races now at all?" Cal sighed and stared at his friend. Because that's what Lightning still was in the end. Lightning and Cal were friends.
"Meg and I have.. Things goin on.. Things we rather not talk about Lightnin.. I think.. Well we talked.." "Already? Wait.. Did you throw the race?" Lightning asked in concern. Cal just stared. He didn't answer that, instead continued. "Meg and I think it's best I take this time to spend the rest of the year with family. Stay away from work for a while." Work. That made this stick out to Lightning. Doc said you would know it's time when racing felt like work. This lead Lightning to ask his friend. "You are coming back.. Right?" Cal smiled a little at his friend before answering "Hell yeah. I just need some space from it all. I have some things I have to attend to to and.. It's boring really, I don't want to talk about it all that much, but.. Good luck Lightnin. I.. I hope you win. For Doc. Not because you're better than me, because.. You're not. Just for Doc." Lightnign snickered a bit with a small smile. "Yeah.. Thanks Cal.." Lighting replied softly. Cal smiled once more before walking away. "See you next year Light." And so Cal wouldn't be around for the rest of the season, but he would be better when he returned...
The truth was, Lighting really was doing better. Feeling better. He didn't feel so broken. Each day, each week, he grew stronger. Emotionally stronger. He started to smile more and started to worry less. He would come home after a long weekend of racing and lift sally up into his arms, spinning around as he kissed her. Things at home seemed more normal. Like before anyone knew that Doc had cancer! Lightning even got a new coach that he seemed to really be getting along with!

Next week we'll see what four racers will be removed from the play offs. And see who will be our contenders for the Piston cup!...
Lighting walked to his trailer, stopped by a few fans and other crew members giving him high fives and congratulating him on the wins. Then Lightning noticed the Dinico tent. It was weird without Cal or Strip there. He stared at the tent. That's when he noticed Josie. She was pulling a suitcase. Hugging some of the current models. She must had finished helping and training the other models. He watched her. Josie looked so happy. She looked so beautiful, so great. Honestly, Lightning was happy for her. Happy to see her living the life she wanted. An older man walked up to Josie. He wrapped her arm around her hips. Kissing the side of Josie's face. and you know what? Lightning smiled. It really only made him happy and all warm and fuzzy inside. Josie was happy which made him happy. and one day.. He was going to marry Sally. Actually, things were going so well these past two weeks, Lightning was trying to plan it out. Jeff walked by and shouted "Good race McQueen!" Lightning looked at his fellow racer and replied "Yeah, good race! Just don't let your guard down or I'll have an advantage next week." "Don't count on it." Jeff said with a laugh. Lightning snickered then looked back to where Josie was, but she was gone. Probably best this way. Not really saying goodbye. Somehow, Josie had a special place in Lightning's heart, but she was nothing like Sally was to him. Sally was going to be his wife. He planned to ask her soon...
Lightning pulled up into the drive way. His smile short-lived as Sally came rushing out the door. Lighting got out and greeted. "Hey Beautiful. You look nice." She was just in some sleep pants, slippers, a white t-shirt and some light pink, designer cardigan. "Did you see Bandit when you pulled up!?" She asked in panic! Lightning's brows lowered. "No. Why? Did he get out?" "I let him out to pee and then I checked on him and he was gone! His collar slipped off!" "WHAT!? You left him alone!?" "He always comes when I call!" Sally defended. Lightning slapped his face with his palm. It was dark outside. dark and a little cool. "What if another dog or a coyote or cat gets him Lightning!?" Sally was frightened for the pet. She should be. Lightning held her to try to comfort her. "I'll drive around and see if I can find him." "But your car is too loud. He'll never hear you calling for him. Take the Porsche, it's quieter." Sally suggested. Lightning agreed and took her car out while she continued to look around the outside of their house.
"Bandit!" Lightning called as he drove around the neighborhood. "Bandit! Come here boy!.. Bandit!" Nothing. He drove for a good hour. Calling and stopping and calling and searching. Nothing. Bandit was just no where to be found. Lightning pulled back to the house and could only hope that Sally had found him. This was terrible. Lightning walked into his home and Sally quickly ran up, asking "Did you find him!?" "No, I was hoping you did..." Sally broke into tears! Crying into Lightning's arms. "How could I lose him!? He always comes when I call! And how did his collar come off Stickers!?" She cried as she held his collar. Lightning sighed and held his girl. He wished he had answers, but he had more questions than anything. "When did he go missing anyway?" He asked. Sally sniffled and looked up at her boyfriend, answering "Just this afternoon. I let him out like always on my lunch break, but I had extra work to file so I tried getting some of that done while I ate. Once I was finished, I packed the car up then went to call Bandit back in and he was gone! I found his collar by the curb. Do you think someone took him Lightning?!" She asked. Lightning shook his head. "No, he's a dog. Dogs get out all the time. It happens. He's probably just enjoying himself, exploring. He'll be back home tomorrow.." "Promise we won't stop looking for him.." She begged. Lightning nodded and promised. "We'll find him Sal. I promise."...
"Bandit!..." "Bandit! Come here baby!" Sally called. Both Lightning and Sally called and called. They drive around in search of him, but.. Nothing. They just couldn't fin their lost beagle pup. The couple went to the diner for lunch. taking a break in their search. Tia walked up and asked "May I take your orders?" Lightning opened his mouth to answer, but Sally snapped "Not now slut! Please do not talk to him when you ask for our order! I am right here!" Tia stared at Sally a moment then at Lightning. Lightning smiled nervously and said "Sorry.. She's a.. We're a little stressed out. Um.. Can you just send Flo?" Tis glared then walked away. Lightning looked at Sally from across the table and asked "What was that for?" Sally sigh and whined. " I don't know.. All I can think of is how you slept with her Lightning.." Lighting reached across the table and took Sally's hands in his. "It's fine. I mean, I hate that you think about that. I mean, sure.. She was.. Fun, but.. Nothing like you. She was.. A thing. You are my girlfriend." He assured with a smile. Some how, that didn't make Sally feel better. She wished she could be more, but.. Lightning was taking too long she feared. He would never be ready for marriage. "Hey, we'll find Bandit. He's probably a mess, so we will need to bathe him and then brush him good and dry him and then we can all cuddle up by the fireplace and relax tonight. Sound good?" He asked. Sally slowly smiled then nodded. Lightning was making her feel better at least.
Flo walked up to the table and asked for their orders. Sally sigh, answering. "Yeah.. I'll just have a salad.. I'm too stressed for anything heavy.." Lightning hated seeing Sally like this. But he couldn't help but smile. She was so caring and loving and worried for such a little thing. A dog. "We'll find him. I know we will." He assured once more. Sally smiled at her boyfriend.
"Okay. But the sooner the better." She replied. Lightning nodded in agreement. It would have been amazing if they would have found their pet that day, but they didn't.
Lightning closed the door behind him. Locking the house up. He walked into the living room to see sally all cuddled up in tears on the couch under a blanket. Lighting sat next to her, wrapping an arm around her. "I ut out some water for when he comes up during the night.. OIf he does.." Sally sighed and leaned on her boyfriend. "Two nights away... I'll bet he's starved.." Lightning sighed, explaining that "I'd leave food out, but.. I don't want to attract other animals too much.." "I know.. I understand.." "I love you. He's fine though.." "You think so?" "Of course! This is Bandit after all. He is a dog." "A small one..." sally muttered. Lightning hugged her close and kissed the side of her face. "I love you. He'll be fine. You'll see." "You keep saying that, but.. He's still not home." Sally whimpered. Lightning sighed. Thinking. "I'll go out and look for him tomorrow. I think I'm going to go see Doc in the morning then go to the track for some practice. I'll look for him right after, okay?" "Yeah... Okay.." Sally was so sad. Missing their little fur baby. Lightning cuddled her close that night. Kissing her on the head once more. Just trying to comfort her heart that night...
Lightning shut the vette door, turned on the engine, buckled up, reverse, hit the gas and THUD! "YELP!" Lightning felt sick instantly. He unbuckled while muttering. "No, no, no, no, no.." He opened the door and went to get out, but seat belt and the car rolled back. Hit the brakes, park, unbuckle and he jumped out of the car fast to see Bandit laying under the car. "Oh shit.. Shit, shit, shit.." Lighting lay down next of the car and gently pulled a whimpering Bandit out from underneath. "Oh fuck.. Oh Bandit.. Hold on buddy.. Fuck.." He picked up the yelping dig. The thing was howling in pain and Lightning was panicking! Sally opened the door and saw Lightning and shouted "Did-is that Bandit? Oh my god!? You ran over Bandit!?" She ran out to Lightning to take a look at the dig. The very obviously hurt dog! "Call Sheriff." "What?!" "Call Sheriff!" Lightning shouted. Sally panicked back with "WHAT IS HE GOING TO DO!?" "I don't know who else to call!" "He needs a vet!" "The vet is like four hours from here!" Lightning reminded. "Give me Bandit." Sally said with panic. She then carefully took the dog from Lightning. "Go grab his blanket, his chew bone and.. Get a water bottle. You drive. You can get us there faster." She instructed. Lighting stared at her. She wanted him to break the law.. For a dog. This very.. Well thought out, plan ahead, organized woman who was an attorney and a stickler for the law.. Wanted him to break it for a dog... "MOVE LIGHTNING!" Sally snapped! Lightning quickly ran in the house, grabbed those things, locked up got into the car. With sally holding Bandit in the passenger seat, Lightning backed out of the drive way, peeling out as he gunned it down the back roads... (I know I think originally, Sally didn't know Lightning hit him, but I can't remember and this was better)
The vet came out to a very worried couple. Sally looked up with tears in her eyes and asked. "Is he okay? Is Bandit okay?.." The vet sat down and explained everything. How the surgery went and how Bandit did during it, but in the end.. "He just.. Didn't wake up.. Sepsis.. I'm sorry.." Lightning felt absolutely terrible. sally just cried into his arms. "Thanks.." Lightning replied. The vet nodded then continued. "I'll clean him up a little more than you can come and see him if you'd like.." Lightning nodded. Holding his crying girlfriend. The vet walked away. Fuck.. What if Sally hated him now. He killed their dog! He killed the innocent little guy. Not on purpose! He was just under the car! Why was he under the car!? Why didn't Lightning park in the garage? Right.. he didn't have the time because Sally wanted him to take the Porsche and go look for Bandit. "Sally I.. I am so sorry.. I'll.. I'll buy you another one if you want.." "What?" She asked in a whimper. She looked disgusted at him! "Money can't replace Bandit!" She scolded. Lightning nodded. "I know that, I just.. I mean... I don't know..." He frowned and looked away. Tears in his eyes. Why was it seeming like bad things followed him lately. "I'm sorry.." He whimpered. Sally felt bad, but was also angry with him. He killed Bandit! She had a very large mix of emotions now. Suddenly, she hugged him. "No.. I'm.. I love you.. I don't want another dog though. It's okay.. I know it was an accident Lightning.." Lightning hugged her closely back. Both of them having to go through a grieving phase once again...
Lightning and sally walked into their home after burying their pet. sally walked to the bedroom. She was going to shower. Lightning sighed as he locked up the house. He looked across the room to see Bandit's crate and a few of his toys there. He remembered the water bowl outside. He opened the door back up, picked up the bowl, dumping out the water then taking it in the house and locking back up. How could he be so careless. It was ana accident though. Still hurt a lot though. Bandit was gone. And.. Even though he wasn't Lighting's most favorite pet ever.. And.. He did get him to make give Sally attention for the days he wasn't around... He still loved Bandit. Lightning walked into the bedroom and waited for Sally to come out of the shower. When she did, dressed in a robe, her hair wet. He quickly apologized again. sally only shrugged, saying "You didn't mean to.." She then grabbed clothes then disappeared into the bathroom again. Lighting had to leave in two days for the last of the third round. Two races before the season would be over. Good. He needed the coming break. "Sal.." He called. "What if we.. I don't know.. Go away for a bit. Once the season is over.. Is there any place that you would want to go?" He asked.
Sally came out of the bathroom in her pajamas now. She stared at Lightning a moment. "We already had our little get away Stickers.." She was hurting right now. He could hear it in her voice. Sally sat down on the bed next to him. Lightning put on a smile and continued. "Yeah, but.. Not a get away. Let's.. Do something crazy like.. Buy a vacation home or.. A second home, uh.. Just.. Go someplace that we've never been and may never go to again. A long.. two-week trip." "TWO WEEKS!?" Sally asked in shock. Lightning chuckled at her facial expression. "It doesn't have to be two weeks, but. More than just a few days. I want to be with you. Heal with you again." He explained. Sally smiled at him. He was awful cute and hard to say no to. But.. Bandit.. "I don't know Lightning.. I.. I have so much work.. And now I'll be thinking about Bandit the entire time and it will make me take even longer now.. I'll be playing catch up most days.." Lightning really hated that. How Sally would bury herself in work to distract herself. But it was how Sally healed to and he understood that. "Okay.. Well.. Think about it. Two more weeks and then the season is over. It will be just you and me. We don't have to go anywhere. As long as I'm with you, I will be more than happy." He smiled and assured. Sally did feel good about that. Smiling back. Just the two of them soon. They needed that..
I know this last one was a lot shorter, but I lost the mood. Sorry. I just can't write this chap longer. I need to move on and continue the story into the cars 2 parts. So hopefully I dont fall into a depression spree over the weekend. Have fun, God bless, yatta yatta.. Forgive me for being a fucked up, idiot, sorry ass writer and please remember to be kind to other readers and revirewers.
