AN: One thing that I didn't really acknowledge up until this point, was that the number of favorites and followers were steadily climbing, and now both of them are over 50!

Chapter 8:

Trying to achieve a full transformation was hard. The first dozen times, I immediately lost my mind.

On the third day, I managed to remain conscious for a couple of seconds, and by the eighth day I was able to keep control during the transformation, with my critical thinking not being the best.

After I started being conscious during full transformations, I usually became very aggressive, and impulsive, yelling at Aizawa when he used his quirk to erase my quirk, destroying the body and giving me back control.

One memorable sentence that came out of my mouth during that time was "You think you can restrain me puny mortal?!".

The second week was spent learning to coordinate my new, ever-changing body, while also learning to keep control, since in that form I could very easily lose it.

By the end of two weeks, I was able to do a full transformation, but the longer I held it the less anger it took for me lose control.

Another thing I noticed, that very slightly, the amount of time Aizawa needed to erase my quirk was increasing. Which was an interesting discovery, perhaps it's another weakness of his? Or maybe it's my own quirk that's special, allowing it to acclimate to it.

But since the day of the sports festival was here, I postponed the experiments, but made an entry about it in my journal, to remember it in the future.

Another possible improvement I discovered, was that I had no size limit to my quirk, so if I created enough void, and built a big enough body out of it, I could become a kaiju, which would be helpful in a couple situations, and in general, size altering would be great. I'm pretty sure that'll take a couple more months, however.

These were my thoughts as I reflected on the last two weeks, as I sat in the waiting room.

I was anxious. Before big events like this, I always doubted myself, even though most of the time I didn't care about the opinions of others, before big events like this I always became very stressed and fidgety.

"Kamiyama." rang out in the room, and looking on the person who said it I discovered it was none other than Todoroki. Just great, having to deal with him as well, if everything else wasn't enough already.

"You have defeated me before, and in that match I wasn't able to show you your place. This time I'll beat you."

It was with an audible crack that they appeared on my arms, and I looked at Todoroki with my face put into a slightly crazed smile, or at least I tried to put it that way.

"You'll find that defeating me is not an easy task, no matter your strength. I welcome your challenge however."

It was stupid I knew, doing all of this, taking part in the festival, challenging Todoroki, I knew I lost sight of what my true goal was, but my pride was having none of that. I always liked to be first, and that was one of my biggest faults, not leaving me even in UA, where the best was determined by combat.

Going out into the arena, I saw the enormous crowd, heard them cheering, and motivation bloomed within me. I also heard Present Mic's intro, which was just so boring, I could have wrote it better. My main problem with it was that it was so generic.

I also saw all the other classes walk out, 1-B, along the other courses.

We were greeted by the R-rated Hero: Midnight, and she's way overhyped if you ask me. Her costume is PG at most, it doesn't have gore to make it R-rated, it doesn't show any naked bodyparts, I tell you.

"Quiet everyone!" she started. "Representing students is Yaoyorozu Momo from class 1-A." She is good diplomatically, and the class representative, so she was a solid choice.

I didn't care about her words, and so I looked around to do some basic scouting regarding the opposition.

After that, the first challenge was revealed: Obstacle race! Yay. At least we had absolute freedom though.

I contemplated between going spiderman, or doing a full transformation so soon. I decided that I would start out as spiderman, and then break out of my shell.

Thank god I had that little bit of foresight, since the entrance to outside was absolutely crowded, but I managed to fling myself forward using the walls and my extended arms.

Just as I jumped out front, it was like a frost bomb detonated, and Todoroki jumped out at the front. I didn't waste time, and quickly transformed into full on monster mode, and with six legs carrying me I wasn't far behind.

My eyes were set on Todoroki, dead-set on defeating him, and it shocked me when he suddenly stopped. Looking ahead though, I could understand why, seeing those giant robots.

But that's it. They were giant robots, slow, clumsy, uncoordinated. I was easily able to run through the gap between their legs, leaving people behind me to deal with them.

Not for long however, since it was only a couple seconds until I heard the fall of one, and saw a couple of icicles in the periphery of my vision. Todoroki wasn't far behind then.

I could see the next obstacle, and I already had a wonderful idea on it. Using the momentum I already had, I jumped high in the air, then created two wings out of my back, and glided down onto the other end, where I once again switched back into six legged mode to run forward.

I was in view of the last part, a minefield. A minefield, here, must have meant that they weren't that lethal.

I tried, and stepped on one, only to get launched high into the air. Immediately taking the chance, I once more formed my wings, and just glided across. They should set a maximum height limit, it's hella easy to avoid everything if you've got brains. Hell, Shoto could have just built an ice bridge over everything and just walked over.

After landing again, I ran the last couple hundred meters, and just before I entered the stadium, I took a minute to rebuild my body, going in with that instead of the form I used for the majority of the race.

After half a minute, Shoto showed up behind me, glaring at me like I killed his favorite puppy or something. Other people came in as well, and the Top 42 got into the next round, which was a cavalry battle. Never heard of those, so the explication helped a bit: a team based point based game system, based on the cavalry battle, which still didn't explain what was it.

The points were assigned to each individual, based on their ranking in the first challenge, and as the first place I got 10 million points. Everyone was against me then.

It was easy however, if they were all enemies then they didn't matter, they weren't worth holding back against. If it was really that bad I would give apologies later.

She explained it that teams will wear headbands with the total number of points they team worths printed on it, and those were the headbands that other had to get, after that she told us to create teams.

Teams. Teams, teams, teams. I never liked them. Usually, when I worked in teams, others were incompetent imbeciles, and I couldn't trust them with doing anything, so I did all the work so it will be quality work, and then both the teacher and the others complained that I didn't let others work, and I didn't because if I did then it wouldn't have been good!

I looked around searching for teammates, and it was only now that I spotted a person with blue hair, and a quirk that was just wonderful!

Until now, I didn't remember him, but seeing him made my mind get the picture out of my memory, and yes, it was brainwash guy!

One thing that was bad with teams that a lot of times teams were needed for exercises where you didn't need to work in a team to get through. Same thing here, I already had a great strategy, that didn't need any team play.

Let's talk about my strategy: Transform, put my head into my body, and then just wait until it's the end of the match. Perfect!

But, sadly, even if I didn't need a team, I needed to get a team, so I could participate, and thinking about it, a defensive quirk would be nice just to increase safety. Someone who can build cover. Like Todoroki. Except he wasn't viable choice now, nor did I see him as someone who would accept my splendidly thought out and absolutely brilliant strategy.

Nobody in class 1-A had good defensive quirks, plus they were also cowards as well, not wanting to team up with me for fear of losing.

Ochaco approached me to enter with her and Iida, but I said "I don't want you guys to lose just because of me!" to get out of there, I did give them a good strategy however "If you ever need to run away, just use your quirk on yourself so Iida can carry you."

After turning her down, I was approached by someone with pink hair.

"Hello, person on the first place! I'm Hatsume Mei and I would like to join your team." seeing she wanted to waste more time on words, I cut in.

"Yes, but you have to follow my plan down to the smallest details, understood?"

"Yes, yes of course!"

I quieted my voice down:

"Okay, so you saw my transformation right?" She nodded. "Great. Now, I'll transform, and basically turn my body into a mini bunker. I'll just wait out the match inside, and you can wait in there with me."

"But I can't show the world my babies then!" she cried out.

"Well, that sucks, but other people are already in teams, so if you leave this one you won't find another. And with this, you can get into the third part, where there will be even fewer people, and you can shine a lot brighter among them."

"Okay then." she agreed, and from her backpack took out an oxigen mask. "You'll probably be able to breath inside that, but I won't so with this you won't have to create opening for air to come through."

"Great!" Finally! A perfect teammate. Agrees with the plan, even enhances it in her own small way, and is generally just a good teammate! I swear, I need more people like this.

We were just two people, but it was enough.

The match was about to start, and unlike how others assumed, I was standing under Mei, holding her weight. I didn't want to tip off others too soon.

The second it started, I put Mei down in front of me, careful not to let her touch the ground, cast off my shell, and enveloped her in a giant bear hug, also filling up the space near us in a tight bubble, all of it made out of void. She wore the headband, and she was safe and protected inside. I also added some spikes on the outside, just to be sure, and also dug into the earth under us to be more sure in my position.

I made it thicker than mud, only the void directly next to us was liquid, the outer shell was as solid as steel. I couldn't do this normally, while moving, since it required intense concentration, but staying in one place allowed me to accomplish it.

- POV change -

"What's that? The ten million points player locked himself in a bubble? Nothing like this happened in UA ever before!" screamed Present Mic.

For a minute, all the students just stopped, dumbfounded over Doppo's strategy. They didn't know what to do, that freakish black material was bad enough in itself, but now it also had spikes?! While most of them were sitting ducks, one or two decided that it was high time for a surprise attack, and headbands were stolen, causing others to shake off the shock and decide to just ignore the bubble, and actually fight players who were active.

"Is that even allowed?!" was screamed by a ton of people.

"Hatsume technically didn't touch the ground, nor separate from her horse, so yes it is." told everyone Midnight, finishing it with a sigh. "At least until the match ends, the rules will probably be updated after that." she said the last part quietly to herself.

- POV class -

I lost track of time, just keeping up the control needed for the defenses. It actually wasn't that winding, since my quirk used the most power whenever I actually change forms, so simply keeping it up was a lot easier.

After a while, I suddenly felt Aizawa's tug at my quirk, and a second later I was nothing but a puddle of void on the ground. Not sensing the erasure anymore, I immediately rebuilt my body.

- POV change -

"Time's up!" was heard in the entire arena, shouted by the announcer.

"First place: Team Hatsume." Nothing happened however, the dome was still there, anchored to the ground. You could have dropped a pin on the ground, and everyone in the arena would have heard it.

"Eraser Head, could you help with this?" asked Present Mic after a couple seconds of awkward silence.

"Yes." was the short reply he got, but the bubble was dissolved, in it's place lay Mei Hatsume and a puddle that swiftly reformed into Doppo Kamiyama.

"As I said already, first place: Team Hatsume!

Second place: Team Todoroki. Third place: Team Uraraka, and fourth place: Team Shinso.

These four teams will advance into the next round!"

AN: Well, I am very satisfied with this chapter, there's not much action, but there will be in the next one.

About the cavalry part, I'm not sure about the rules, I think the rider isn't allowed to touch the ground, but it was never stated that you had to continually move, so I think the strategy would have worked.

Please write a review, see you all in the next chapter!
