Lightning walked into the house to hear Sally laughing. Why? He wondered. He closed the door and made his way into the kitchen where he saw her and Flo sitting at the table laughing. "WHat's so funny?" HE asked nervously. Sally calmed down and said, "You're home! How was the race? You did well out there." She complimented. LIghtning nodded answering, "It was alright. Still haven't answered my question though." Flo giggled and answered, "We were looking over wedding dresses and it lead to us looking at bridesmaid's dresses." The two women started snickering and laughing once more. Lightning was a little worried in all honesty, Sally laughed, "Which lead to us looking at these new dresses from the fashion show of Gagalahn." "Gagawat?" asked Lightning. Sally breathed and barely stopped laughing to answer, "Just a fashion show, and the outfits were so terrible!" LIghtning nodded slowly. He Quietly thought that his fiance was going loony. HE walked to the fridge and grabbed out bottled water. Sally then reminded, "Remember we have the cake decisions tomorrow." "I thought we already figured that out? Besides, I don't like cake." "OH no. There are many flavors of vanilla and chocolates. I was thinking we may change it up.. If.. That's okay?" SHe asked. LIghtning shrugged answering, "Whatever you want I guess."
Flo wiped her teary eyes after laughing so hard and stood up. "Well, I better be getting home. You two have fun tomorrow. Let me know what you'll decide." She said as she made her way out. Sally nodded, "Will do, Flo. Bye!" Flo closed the door behind her. Sally closed up the planner and the wedding dress magazine. Lightning then turned and asked, "Are you still not taking birth control?" Sally's eyes widened. "Wow. I.. I thought we were over that." Sally mumbled. LIghtning frowned a. little then asked, "Are you taking it or not? I just want to know. It's the last time I'll ask. I swear." Sally sighed and stood up, "I'm not taking it." LIghtning just nodded. Hating that slightly. Sally walked up and asked, "Is it really going to cause another issue with us? I told you I'm just preparing my body." Lightning stared into her eyes. She wanted a baby. "DO we have to start trying once we're married?" He whined. Sally crossed her arms and shrugged, "I guess not.. I just thought.. We aren't getting any younger, Stickers." That was true. Lightning sighed. "What if?... What if I wanted to wait until we had been married for a while?" He asked. Sally raised a brow and asked, "Well, what's a while? Give me a time frame." Lightning thought a moment before answering that. "Like a year? Maybe?" He said. Sally's eyes widened in shock! "Stickers!" She began, "I don't-I can't wait until we can't have any!" "IS everything that messed up down there?" Referring to her reproductive organs. Sally's brows lowered as she defended! "I've had a miscarriage! I've been on birth control for years up until recently! I am not young-we are not young anymore! We're thirty! YOu realize we will already be in our late forties raising a teenager!? And that's if we get pregnant on the first try!" LIghtning only snickered proud like, "OH it'll be on the first try. Trust me." Sally almost laughed. SLapping him playfully across the chest. Lightning smiled at his girl.
Sally sighed and finally asked, "Do you want kids? A kid at this point?" Lightning slightly shrugged. "If I'm being totally honest.. I"m alright with it being just me and you. Maybe I don't want to share you." "That's not funny." Sally scolded. Lightning snickered, "Okay, I know. Yeah, I do. I want kids with you. I think you will make a beautiful Mother but..." "But?" "But if I'm being honest? It's been such a hard year and.. I'm still broken. I feel like I am never going to be okay from losing Doc. This crap with the shooter who is still on the run by the way. I still.. I still have nightmares about what happened in England, Sal.. I don't think I'm ready to start trying in-what? Three months? Not even that! It's more like two and a half months!" He pointed out. Sally didn't think of that. Lightning was right. It was too soon emotionally and mentally on them. "Stickers, I.." She began, "I didn't even think of you.. Of those things. I'm sorry." "What-Really?" HE asked. Sally nodded. "I was so caught up in the fantasy of having a baby that I didn't think of what was truly best for us, for you." She admitted. It fell silent for a few seconds.
"Do you think things could change between now and the wedding?" Sally asked gently. Lightning thought about it. He actually thought hard on it for a moment. Could he see himself getting fully over everything in just a couple of months? He sighed as he looked at Sally and answered, "Not really.. I'm sorry.. But.. If you"-"No. NO, if we do it too soon, the stress of a new baby will kill our marriage." Sally muttered in disappointment. Lightning stared at his love for a moment. Slightly confused. "What are you saying?" He asked. Sally sighed and stared into his blue eyes before assuring, "No baby this year." "What? But you"-"I know. I know what I wanted but I also what's best for us after taking a step back and thinking about it. A baby is too much of an extra load right now. Between my work, yours and like you said. YOu still feel grief and pain and you were traumatized by the last couple of events!" "Traumatized is a bit of a stretch but yeah.." Lightning muttered with a glare. Sally took his hands into hers and assured with a smile that they could try for a baby starting next year. "With the new year, we begin trying. How about that?" She asked. "Can we agree to bring this back up then?" LIghtning counted it up. That would be about nine months roughly from now. He nodded with a smile and agreed. "Yeah. Twenty thirteen is our year." He said proudly. Sally smiled even more. Excited for what the years ahead may bring as they agreed.
SO then Lightning had to ask, "Does that mean you'll be getting back on birth control? For now?" Sally stared as she thought for a moment. Taking a few seconds or minutes to debate that in her mind. She nodded. "Yeah. It would probably be best. But!" She said, "I'm stopping it January first." She warned. Lightning nodded with a smile. "It's a date." He teased. Sally giggled then pulled her future husband in. Kissing his lips softly. LIghtning smiled in satisfaction. He had an amazing girl that he couldn't wait to marry...
Lightning and Sally sat at one of the tables of Wheel Well as the chef and his companion brought three cakes out of their large white van. Just small, round cakes. Setting them on the table in front of the couple. One was white. with yellow flowers in the top corner. Another was white with what looked like raspberries on top. The third was baby blue with black cherries around the bottom. The male chef walked up and described them. "The one here with yellow floral decor is lemon vanilla. A crisp and tart flavor but with sweet buttercream to balance the bitterness out." LIghtning's nose cringed at the thought. The Chef noticed and continued, "This one here with the raspberry topping is a vanilla cake with a hint of lemon extract and shots of raspberry filling." "Shots?" Questioned Sally. The Chef smiled and took out the slicer, cutting a piece of the cake out to reveal, "Shots make it look almost like a marble style cake within. It is personally one of my best sellers." Sally and Lightning were impressed by the look of it for sure.
The Chef then pushed the last one forward and described, "This is my famous chocolate moose cake. Light whipped icing with black seedless cherries upon each slice when cut for guest." "Fancy." Commented Lightning. The Chef's companion cut the remaining cakes then placed a piece of each on three separate plates. Giving the couple every three forks and napkins. "GO ahead and give these a try." Suggested the Baker. Sally and Lightning glanced at each other Lightning letting out a sigh then motioning for Sally to go ahead first. So Sally picked up a fork and tried the Moose chocolate with cherry first. Her face cringed slightly, saying it all! She shook her head. "Nope. No, that's.. That's not it, Sir. It's way too sweet. I'm sorry." The man nodded then pushed the Raspberry one forward. Sally lifted her hand and asked for a drink first. The companion replied, "Certainly." Then grabbed two glasses and poured water into them. Sally sipped hers quickly. Getting the stinging sweetness off of her tastebuds.
"Want to try it?" She asked Lightning. Lightning chuckled, "Yeah, no. If that's the face you made, I'm not touching it." Then he looked at the baker and said, "Not to be rude, of course." The man didn't seem to care. So Sally took the second fork and tried the Raspberry next. She chewed and nodded. Looking at Lightning as she swallowed, "Try that one. IT's actually good." LIghtning sighed and picked up a fork. Hesitating before taking up a piece of it and trying it. Sally observed and asked, "Well?" LIghtning bobbed his head back and forth before swallowing and answering, "It's alright." The Chef or baker sighed. Sally assured the man, "It's okay. That's his answer to everything. HOw are you, Lightning? I"m alright. How was the race, alright. How is your day? It's alright." She mocked. Lightning rolled his eyes with a smile. Maybe he did say that too much. The Chef chuckled then switched the cake with the last. Lemon Vanilla. Sally took the last fork and tried it. She seemed to like it but said, "It's good but the raspberry is best." LIghtning then tried it and agreed with a nod. "Raspberry for sure." The chef and his companion smiled happily! "Great! I knew this one would be perfect for the two of you. I"ll make a note of that." He said then stepped aside towards the van as the companion began cleaning up. Lightning's phone began buzzing. BBbbzzzzz. BBBBzzzz. He glanced at it. Sally asked, "WHo is it?" LIghtning glanced at it answering, "A text from Tex." "Tex?" She asked. Lightning nodded. But the text caught his eye.
Tex
Josephine trying to get ahold of you. Her number, x-xxx-xxx-XXXX. Something about dinner.
"What's he want?" Sally asked. Lightning put his phone away before answering, "Nothing. Just race stuff." Sally nodded and let it be. Lightning thought of Josie for a moment and honestly, he couldn't wait to see her...
Another race weekend. Lightning put on his suit and made his way to the pits for qualifying. He grabbed his helmet then froze as he realized his new coach or beefcake was late. He needed to find Leon and get him back Doc chose Leon. He shouldn't have fired the man. Chick walked throughout the pits. Checking out the racers. Wishing them all luck until he got to Lightning's. He and Lightning stared at each other for a moment before Chick walked up to the champ and asked, "How are you doing, McQueen?" LIghtning glared and asked, "What do you want?" Chick shrugged and watched LIghtning's team prepare. "Where's the Mrs? OH right, haven't tied the knot yet, huh?" He laughed. LIghtning raised a brow. Unsure why Chick was laughing. The former racer sighed , "Heard MIss O'Reilly was a bit too much for you." "Wh-what?" LIghtning asked as he blushed. Chick slapped the younger racer on the back and laughed, "I'm just pulling your leg." LIghtning didn't find it funny at all though.
Chick then wished Lightning luck and went on. Lightning shook his head. Just glad not to be racing Chick anymore. Tony walked by. Spitting in Lightning's pits and making a threatening stare towards Lightning. LIghtning glared at his rival. ALmost could hear Doc in the background telling him to ignore Tony and keep his head in the race. To remember what he taught him. Lightning sighed and frowned a bit thinking of Doc. Lightning then pulled out his phone and pulled up Josie's number.
Lightning

Qualifying
..
Josie,
I'll meet you at your trailer afterward :)
Lightning stared at that text a moment. It made him smile slightly, He then locked his phone in the toolbox and grabbed his helmet. "Alright. Speed. I am. Speed." He hyped himself up before qualifying...
Afterward, Lightning made it to his trailer to see Josie leaning against the box outside. She smiled as he approached and honestly, he did too. "Hey." He greeted. Josie smiled, "Hey superstar." Hugging him happily. "How are you?" SHe asked. LIghtning shrugged, "I got pole today." "That's great!" "Want to come in?" Lightning offered. Josie shrugged with a sure. LIghtning opened the door and flirted, "Ladies first." Josie rolled her eyes and walked into the trailer Lightning noticed she was entirely alone and asked, "Where's uh.. The man?" "Jenson? Oh, he's probably talking to a few racers or getting food. He loves the food stands at the race track." LIghtning chuckled at that, closing the door behind himself. Josie sat on the couch and asked, "SO how are the wedding plans going?" LIghtning sat next to her and shrugged. "I haven't done too much of the planning. Sally is pretty much-handling everything. I still need to write my vows." "When is the wedding?" "Two months." He announced. Josie's eyes widened! "That is soon! I can not believe this sexy manwhore is settling down." She joked with a cute giggle. Lightning snickered, "I'm not settling. She's perfect." He corrected. Josie thought that was the sweetest thing!
Lightning then asked, "If I may, where did Jenson take you on your honeymoon?" "Why? Haven't you made reservations?" She asked. Lightning shook his head. Josie stared a moment in awe. Slapping Lightning on the shoulder! "You need to get o that! Idiot!" LIghtning rubbed his shoulder and assured, "I am, I am! I just.. I don't know? She mentioned Paris once but it's a bit late for that." "Okay... SO a place like Paris." "I don't know.. Honestly, I don't want to leave home. Not that far anyway.. It makes me nervous even thinking about it." He admitted. Josie raised a brow and asked, "Why is that?" LIghting sighed admitting, "Because of what happened at the Prix.. If we leave out of the country.. I"m going to be stressing out the entire time and I don't"-"Then no. You can't do that to yourself. It's your honeymoon too." She reminded with a smile. "Jenson took me to New York during Christmas. It was really fun." She answered. Lightning nodded. He still wasn't sure what to do for the honeymoon and he was running out of time!
"Jenson seems nice." LIghtning complimented. Josie nodded happily. "He is. He's cute too." Lightning rolled his eyes and asked, "Cuter than me? Not possible." He joked. Josie snickered. The two sat quietly for a few minutes before Lightning asked about the helicopter ride. "Hey.. So.. In the helicopter.. After I was shot." Josie's smile went away as he continued, "You kissed me." "TO get you to calm down." Josie defended. Lightning glared and scolded, "The way you kissed me." "You were in shock and don't remember things as they really were." She was quick to try and shut him down. Lightning looked into Josie's eyes and ordered, "Enlighten me." "Wh-what?" Josie stuttered."This is like before. When you said you missed me..." She frowned. LIghtning sighed. "I do miss you. And now that I'm older.. I see what I did wrong with you. I see that we could have been something great if I hadn't of been so afraid to love back then." Josie snickered and corrected, "Not true. YOu just needed the right woman that made you want to take that risk. Don't you have that now?" She asked.
LIghtning nodded. So Josie asked, "Why ask me to kiss you?" Lightning stared at her before answering, "Was more of a threat to get you to admit it." "Admit what exactly?" "That kiss was not just a kiss to calm me down. I know you." "No, you knew me.." "I still do." Lightning corrected. Josie and Lightning gazed into the eyes of each other. Josie could feel the energy and longing to be with this man once more. Between her legs pulsed. She blushed as she asked nervously, "What would you do if I asked you to sleep with me?" LIghtning stared at Josie. He wanted her just as much as she wanted to be with him. He was silent. Hesitating as he thought about this before answering. Sally. He closed his eyes and sighed, "I couldn't. I tried already once.. It didn't go well." "Tried to sleep with me?" Josie asked with confusion as she didn't remember that.
Lightning shook his head and confessed. "Tiffany O'Reilly. We made out and she and I met up after the race to... Well.. It didn't go as I was thinking it would. I couldn't do it." He admitted. Josie glanced down at his lap then asked, "What? You couldn't get hard?" LIghtning snickered, "Oh I was painfully hard but I couldn't cheat." Josie smiled proudly and rubbed her hand over Lightning's back complimenting, "That's a good thing! You've grown up, baby." Lightning nodded and asked, "So why did I feel like shit when I didn't sleep with Tiffany?" "Because you use to be the track's slut." Teased Josie. Lightning rolled his eyes. She wasn't exactly wrong though. There were still moments he thought of his time with Mia and Tia. Dam they were hot and so much fun together. Josie sighed and admitted, "I don't necessarily want to sleep with anyone else. But I won't lie to you.. I trust you, so I'll admit this. I've cheated on Jenson." Lightning seemed surprised! "Don't look at me like that!" Josie shouted! "Marriage is hard!" She defended. Lightning nodded. Even though he wasn't married yet he was already feeling that part.
Josie placed her hand onto Lightning's thigh. "So is making out cheating to you?" She asked. Lightning looked into Josie's eyes and shook his head. Which made Josie smile. She glanced won at his lips then said, "Then let me give you your engagement gift.." Leaning in and kissing his lips. The two closed their eyes and began making out. Lightning was enjoying it. He felt sparks like before. Josephine was an amazing kisser! Their tongues danced! Twirling around each other in the quiet trailer. Josie pushed forward, making Lightning lay down as she crawled over him and kissed his lips with a passion of missed feelings. Lightning's hands went to her ass. He caressed her full cheeks. SPreading them and rolling them in the palms of his hands. Making out with the model who was hotter than fire! Josie moaned into his mouth then pulled up, Lifting her head and breaking their kiss. She stared down into his blue eyes and smiled. "You should practice kissing for that honeymoon." She scolded. Lightning blushed. She then took one of his hands and moved it to her waistline. "Here." She said. "Hold here and use your other had to caress from her ass to where her thigh meets the cheek. It usually tickles but in a good way. She then began making out with him again...
Josie left Lightning's trailer. Lightning standing near the door, watching her go. Bobby raised a brow and asked, "What happened in there, baby?" Teasing his friend. LIghtning blushed then glared and answered, "Relax. I"m not cheating." "So then?.." "Just.. We made out a little..." Lightning whispered. Bobby smiled! "HA! Have a little fun before the wedding. I get it. I mean, I went full out fucking but hey, you do you. Borderliner." He teased. LIghting rolled his eyes and Bobby stopped him asking, "Hey, I was thinking next weekend, you, me, Cal. Bachelor party." "Depends... I don't want to do anything that could risk Sally and me." Lightning warned. BObby snickered and glanced over towards where Josie was walking afar. Lightning sighed. Bobby walked closer to his friend and asked, "I can set you up with a borderline bachelor party, alright. A few women to make out with, strippers, nothing over the line. Pizza, beer, cars." He smiled. Lightning thought a moment before nodding and replying, "Yeah, alright. Borderline. Don't go over it, Bobby." He warned. Bobby laughed! "Borderline bachelor party! Got it. I'll talk with you more about it next week. See ya soon, McQueen." "See ya, Bobby.' Lightning replied as he waved goodbye to his friend...
Lighting and Sally sat together at Wheel Well. The place was closed so that they could meet with their officiant privately. Lightning glanced at his phone and saw the time. 7.12. "He's late.." He griped. Sally shooshed him as she was looking at wedding dress magazine photos. Lightning glanced over and saw a few that had saved corners. They were beautiful. Sally would look perfect in any of them. A black sedan pulled up and parked and a man in a suit got out. Walking over and apologizing, "Sorry for being late. I got lost on the way over and wow! This place really is out in the middle of nowhere!" He chuckled. Sitting across from the couple. Sally smiled and introduced themselves. "Mister Holden, I'm Sally and this is my fiance' Lightning McQueen." She said proudly. Holden and Lightning shook hands. "Nice to meet the two of you," Holden said as he pulled out a notebook. "Now, I'm just using this to take notes on the two of you so that I can get a better idea of who the two of you are as a couple, alright?" Sally smiled and nodded.
Lightning just nodded. Holden then smiled for a moment. Staring at the couple before asking them the first question he had. "So?.. How did the two of you meet?" Lightning smiled awkwardly. Sally tried not to laugh as she answered, "Well, that's.. That's funny." Lightning faked a bit of a laugh and answered, "Ha.. Ha.. Yeah, well.. I mean technically, we met in a courtroom." Holden raised a brow. Sally continued, "I-well-he was sort of a public menace." "Menace?" Lightning questioned. Raising a brow. "I think that may be a bit harsh." "Well, you did destroy the town." "A road. I broke a road. Cracked it really." "You didn't see the town's debt after that," Sally explained. Lightning's brows lowered. Holden shook his head and asked, "Wait, I'm sorry? I'm a bit lost." Sally answered, "We met in court. He was the accused, guilty. I was the town's attorney." HOlden's brows raised as she replied, "Oh so.. You go the court to?.." "Convict me." Lighting answered. Sally rolled her eyes and corrected, "Community service. He had to fix the problem he created, but.." SHe paused and gazed at Lightning with love. "We fell in love."
Lightning smiled then reached and held Sally's hand. Holden then asked Lightning, "Details? About how you fell in love?" LIghtning stared a moment before answering, "I mean.. It was a slow process." "Well.. Tell me." The man smiled. Lightning sighed and thought a moment before continuing, "I mean. I think the one-night stand sort of did it." Sally turned red and smacked her forehead with her hand. Holden stared a moment before asking, "One night stand?.. YOu two..?.." Sally muttered, "Yes.. We did have a.. Fling or something. It wasn't like it was sex is what made us fall in love." LIghtning snickered with a smoldering smile and replied, "I think it helped." Sally shook her head, trying not to show her embarrassment. Holden nodded, "Okay... Um.. Tell me about the venue, the theme of your wedding. Hmm?" Sally happily changed the subject, "YES! We decided to keep the urban and natural look of Radiator Springs." She smiled. Holden snickered and asked, "Does the town mean a lot to you two?" LIghtning nodded, "It's everything to us." Sally added, "Radiator Springs played a huge role in us falling in love in my opinion. Even over sex." She said glaring at her future husband. "Radiator Springs has always had a way of bringing people together." Lighting then with, "And if it means a lot to Sally, it means a lot to me." That made Sally smile with so much love on her face.
Holden nodded and asked, "You two determine a budget?" LIghtning nodded saying, "Yeah, there's no real budget. We make enough that the wedding cost well below anything we could have thought." Holden seemed impressed by that. "Must be nice." He complimented. "Any rituals or traditions you two would like to follow?" He asked. Sally and Lightning glanced at each other and realized they never even talked about that subject! Lightning answered, "NO, not that I know of." Sally then with, "In my previous marriage, we did the pouring sand into a vase thing and the wine drinking where we crossed or uh, linked arms." Holden cocked his head to the side and asked, "So you've been married before?" Sally nodded, biting her lower lips. Holden made a note then asked, "How long was that marriage? Before it ended and I presume, Lightning here knows all about it?" Sally nodded, "Yes, he knows everything. Um.. Ben and I were married for.. Um. A year. Maybe technically two. Because we didn't get the divorce finalized until after the miscarriage..." Her voice softened. Holden nodded, making a note then asked, "How long between the divorce and the beginning of your two's relationship?" Lightning looked to Sally who answered, "Um.. I guess technically about.. FIve.. Four months.." LIghting snapped a look at Sally. He always thought it was a year or so!? HOlden noticed and asked, "Um.. By that look you have on your face, I'm guessing you didn't know.. Did you?" Sally looked at lightning. Lightning who looked a bit mortified!
"Stickers?.." She called softly. Lightning shrugged saying, "I thought you said you lost the baby in January.. This is why you and Ben meet up every year around that time. But that meant you two had been divorced a year. SO I thought.." Sally then corrected, "I left California in January.. Found out I was pregnant, tried staying here but Ben convinced me to go back home. But after I lost the baby I came back. We divorced legally after that. So.. Mayish, June. I couldn't tell you the exact date." Lightning sighed. That was NOT what Sally told him years ago but it was in the far past now and he left it alone. Holden hesitated to ask, "Did... Did you want to have a ritual at the wedding?" Both Lightning and Sally answered, "No." Holden nodded, making another note. Lightning glanced at Sally. She was a liar. COnstantly telling little lies or stretching the truth. He should expect this from a lawyer though.
Holden then asked, "So.. Ben? Is he coming to the wedding?" Sally sucked on her lips a bit before muttering, "No." Lightning seemed surprised. "No, he's not." She assured. Holden nodded and continued...
