I DO NOT OWN THE SELECTION SERIES. SHOUTOUT TO ABIZEAU FOR CREATING THIS CHARACTER.
Manhattan, New York City. Province of Waverly. 3 weeks after the announcement.
Edmund Tobias Jenkins sat on the couch in front of the TV, along with his brothers: Samuel and Casper. His mother Aubrey had just finished making hot chocolates for everyone; in case the worst came to pass. Even his father Rowen, who was away from home more often than not, due to his job as a plastic surgeon was there because of the importance of the occasion at hand. The Jenkins family had 2 young men who had chosen to apply for the selection of Princess Pauline. Casper had decided to apply and after much pestering from both of his brothers, Edmund, albeit reluctantly, decided to fill out an application as well; even though he had no desire to put his life on hold for some royal cruise.
"No matter which of you gets chosen of I'd neither of you does, you both took a chance and you should be proud of yourselves." The boy's mother insisted as she was trying to soften them for the possible blow to come. After all, thousands upon thousands of men would have applied to secure a place on this cruise.
"It doesn't really matter for me, Casper is the one who wants to be selected, the only reason that I applied was to shut him and Samuel up." Edmund insisted with an eye roll before his brothers scoffed at him in unison.
"Come on Ed, you work your ass off twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, three hundred and sixty five days a year. Would having a vacation really be so bad?" Samuel inquired in exasperation.
"Don't exaggerate, Samuel." Edmund chided his brother as the national anthem of Illèa began to play on the TV set before cutting to King Consort Justin in a regal military uniform, adorned with awards and military kudos, sitting in a regal looking chair as he faced his subjects.
"Good afternoon, my fellow Illèans." Justin said with a smile. "I am happy to announce that after going through thousands of applications, my darling daughter, the princess Pauline Schreave, has chosen the thirty five men who will participate in her royal cruise selection." The King Consort cleared his throat as he began to read off the names.
"From the Province of Angeles: Judah Ives!" Justin declared as he went through the names and provinces one by one in alphabetical order; which meant that the Jenkins family had to wait until near the end.
"Come on...come on..." Casper whispered as his fingers were crossed.
"From the province of Waverly: Edmund Jenkins!" The King Consort declared as the entire family cheered in excitement for the legal intern as Edmund was honestly surprised as he didn't think he would really be selected.
"Congratulations honey!" Mrs. Jenkins said with genuine happiness for her middle son.
"Who knows how long the selection is going to last?" Edmund asked with a groan. "What if the firm won't give me enough time off?"
"Bro, I'm sure they'll understand, it's a Royal selection for Christ's sake." Samuel insisted with a shake of his head, hoping that his brother would quit being such a workaholic all the time.
