The Next Morning:
7:48 AM:
Trunks woke up—early; he just couldn't sleep anymore.
'Day three. Hopefully this one goes better than yesterday. Though, I suppose not all of yesterday was horrible—just the first half.' Trunks thought to himself, getting out of bed.
He got up, stretched, and walked over to Miyuki's crib. She was right where he left her—laying on her back, legs straight down, and arms above her head. The only difference was that her head was now turned to the side.
"Good morning, Trunks." Bulma greeted Trunks when he walked out of his room.
"Good morning." Trunks replied.
"What are you doing?" Bulma asked, noticing his clothes.
"I'm going to take a quick shower and get changed. I don't feel right changing when Miyuki's in the room—even if she is asleep." Trunks answered.
"Yeah. That poor girl. I'm guessing she's still asleep?" Bulma replied before asking.
"Yeah. Don't wake her, but you can go in and see her if you want." Trunks firmly told his mother.
"Can I take a picture or two?" Bulma asked, watching Trunks.
'Or five-million.' "Just don't wake her." Trunks thought to himself before replying.
"Yay! Have a good shower." Bulma happily exclaimed before telling Trunks. She then ran to get her camera before slowly and quietly walking into Trunks and Miyuki's room.
Vegeta was just getting home after dropping Bulla off at school; he was going to go to find Bulma when he noticed Trunks and Miyuki's door open—and an unknown flashing came from inside.
Slowly, he crept to the door and peaked in; he was about to attack whoever was in there but stopped himself when he saw Bulma.
"What are you doing?" Vegeta asked in disbelief.
"I'm getting pictures of Miyuki sleeping. Just look at her; she's so adorable." Bulma happily replied as quietly as she could.
"Where's the boy?" Vegeta asked, walking over to see Miyuki sleeping in her crib.
"Taking a shower and then changing." Bulma answered, taking one more picture, causing Miyuki to move slightly.
"How many pictures have you taken?" Vegeta asked once it was clear that Miyuki was still asleep.
"A few." Bulma sheepishly answered.
"Ok. Come on; that's enough pictures for now. Let's let her be so that she doesn't wake up yet. I'm assuming Trunks doesn't want her up yet." Vegeta instructed his wife, dragging her out of the room. They left the door cracked open just in case she were to wake up.
"How do you know Trunks doesn't want us to wake her yet?" Bulma asked once she and Vegeta were in the kitchen.
"You were being quiet instead of obnoxiously cooing over the baby. Also, I know Trunks prefers Miyuki to wake up on her own right now." Vegeta answered but quickly regretted using "obnoxiously" to describe something Bulma did.
"I'll take it. She's so damn adorable. And she deserves to be obnoxiously cooed over after the crap life she had before coming to Trunks." Bulma replied, not caring that Vegeta called her "obnoxious." She loved Miyuki and was proud to be obnoxious at this time. Any other time, NOT involving Miyuki, she'd most likely become offended.
"Oh, are you heading out now?" Bulma asked when Tien walked out.
"Yep. I have to get my car and get on the road. Can I get the keys to the moving truck?" Tien calmly answered before asking.
"Oh, of course. Did you sleep ok?" Bulma asked, going to get the keys from the counter.
"Yes, thank you." Tien replied with a smile.
"Good morning." Trunks greeted Tien, walking out.
"Good morning. How's Miyuki?" Tien greeted before asking.
"Sleeping." Trunks calmly answered; he quickly checked on her before walking out.
"Here you go." Bulma told Tien, handing him the keys.
"Heading out?" Trunks asked.
"Yep." Tien replied.
"Safe trip. Thanks for everything yesterday. Please give me a ring when you get back and need help with arranging your house." Trunks sincerely yet seriously told Tien.
"Oh, it was no problem. You can count on it. See you in a few days." Tien replied before heading out.
"What are you doing holding your clothes like that?" Vegeta asked, watching Trunks.
"Can I still throw my clothes in with your laundry until we get our own?" Trunks asked Bulma.
"Of course. You don't have to ask. When Miyuki wakes up and you change her; her clothes and be thrown in there as well. Are you hungry?" Bulma happily told Trunks before asking him.
"Yeah, but I have something I need to do first. I forgot to get some things at the store yesterday. Well, actually I just thought of them today—and didn't think of them yesterday. Could you listen for Miyuki for me? I will try to be as quick as I can." Trunks replied, watching Bulma and Vegeta.
"You don't have to ask twice. But—what did we forget?" Bulma asked, confused.
"Baby monitors. And a surprise." Trunks answered, being semi-secretive.
"Oh, shoot. I didn't even think about baby monitors. I don't think the ones we have even work anymore. But I'll dig them out anyway just in case." Bulma replied with a smile.
"I'll be back shortly." Trunks replied before getting his shoes and teleporting away.
"What could he have possibly forgotten? We got that little girl just about everything in those stores." Vegeta stated, watching his wife walk down the hallway.
"I don't know. But he must have thought of something we didn't get her. All we can do is trust him." Bulma replied before heading to the attic.
With Trunks:
Trunks's P.O.V.:
I got to the supermarket and headed straight for the baby section.
"Trunks? What are you doing here? Are your parents here as well?" I heard a familiar voice ask.
Sure enough, when I turned around, I saw Grandma and Grandpa.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, confused. Grandma and Grandpa moved roughly forty-five minutes away after one of Grandpa's old friends begged him to work with him at his lab. That was about six or seven months ago.
"We missed all of you and decided to come visit. We just got into town ten minutes ago and decided to get gifts. How are your parents and Bulla?" Grandpa explained before asking as Grandma attacked me in a hug. It's been a few months.
They must not know about Miyuki. Though, I suppose they don't have social media. Well, Grandma does, but she hasn't quite figured out how to properly use it.
"Trunks, are you alright?" Grandma asked, bringing me back to reality.
"Yeah. Sorry. I was just thinking. How's Aunt Tights?" I asked after answering.
"She's ok. The last time we talked to her, she was freaking out about something." Grandpa answered.
"Something about one of her friends having a mistake. One of her friends had a baby who isn't quite human with some girl a few years ago. Their friend just received custody of the child, who was abused. Then there was something about a cat. Trunks, are you ok? Are you not feeling well?" Grandma explained before asking when I was sure I looked like I would pass out or something.
"I'm fine, Grandma. A little annoyed, but I'm fine. Umm… Tights wasn't talking about a friend of hers." "What do you mean? How do you know that?" I started only to be interrupted by Grandma and Grandpa.
"Because she's talking about me. Do you remember when I was fifteen and met Daisy Cota?" I answered before asking.
"The lady your parents hated because she was just using you for your money?" Grandpa asked, looking at me.
"Yes. We had a horrible relationship, and I eventually broke up with her. Sometime after we broke up, Yamcha invited Gohan, Goten, and me to a party he was throwing. Daisy showed up and because we were both drunk, we ended up having unprotected sex. The next morning we woke up, freaked out, fought, and then I never saw her again. The last thing she said to me was that if I were to get her pregnant, she'd keep the baby from me, but file for Child Support. I never heard from her, so I didn't think she became pregnant—or if she had, it wasn't mine. How wrong I was. Child Services showed up on Saturday—at my birthday/graduation party and told me Daisy's daughter was also my daughter. DNA proved it. As a precautionary, when we were at the ER due to a severe allergic reaction, I had an emergency DNA test done. She is one-hundred percent my daughter."
"Daisy was a Nekodian—which is a cat-human hybrid, making Miyuki half Saiyan and half Nekodian. Yes, we've already had this discussion; she has no human in her whatsoever. The Saiyan and Nekodian in her completely takes over. Miyuki is the name of my daughter, by the way: Miyuki Chaya Briefs. Some cultures, people have three names: first, middle, and last. I didn't want to change her first name and confuse her even more, but I wanted to give her our last name and "Chaya" is for our Saiyan culture—and Dad."
"But anyway: Miyuki has little cat ears. And yes, Daisy was severely abusive to Miyuki in every way possible, so she has severe PTSD and doesn't really speak. She's also a little slower it seems, but it doesn't matter to me. I love her just the same. I talked to Future Trunks, and he explained that Miyuki ages differently than humans and Saiyans. Full Nekodians age once every nine years. But because Miyuki is only half, she ages once every three years. She was born December 24th and is a year and a five months in her second year of being one. I know. I know. And I know how it sounds, but it's how it is. She'll be a year old for another year and a half, plus a month. And we're all immortal." I explained, pausing here and there to let everything sink in.
"Well—that's a lot. What do your parents and Bulla think?" Grandpa asked after a few minutes of processing everything.
"They love Miyuki. Sure, I got the typical lecture, which I deserved one hundred percent. But—and I do know it's only been two and a half days—that I love Miyuki more than anything; she's already become my entire world." I sincerely answered, watching them.
"That's so great. Do we get to meet her?" Grandma immediately asked, watching me with hopeful eyes.
"Saturday? Your birthday?" Grandpa asked, also watching me.
"Yes. And Miyuki is the best birthday present I've ever received. Yes, you can meet her. Just please don't crowd her; she tends to panic more than normal—which isn't saying much. But we seem to be getting somewhere; she seems to trust us." I explained, shrugging a little.
"What brings you here?" Grandma asked again.
"Baby monitors and something special for Miyuki. We went shopping yesterday, but a few things seemed to escape our minds. And I just thought of something else this morning." I explained.
"You are such a mature young man. I'm so happy you've decided to keep your baby—no matter the circumstances—especially since you've said she was abused. She needs you, your parents, Bulla, and Goku and his family." Grandpa proudly told me.
"Thank you." I replied with a smile.
"So, she probably has everything she could ever need, doesn't she?" Grandma and Grandpa asked, watching me.
"No. We took her to a toy store and let her pick out what she wanted. We could tell she wanted more, but she wanted what she picked out more. We told her she could get what she wanted, but she just softly told us she didn't want to be spoiled. However, with how little she talks, I don't think it was actually her speaking; I think someone, or something was speaking through her. Perhaps that's how Miyuki truly felt, but couldn't say what she wanted, so she had help. I don't know." I replied, running my hand through my hair.
"So—you know what she has already. Do you think you could come with us to the toys after you get your baby monitors, so we can get her something?" Grandpa asked with a smile.
"I know. Why don't we get the baby monitors? You can show us which ones you want, and we'll buy them for you. I mean, it is a necessity after all. It's settled: we'll get you the baby monitors and something for Baby Miyuki." Grandma happily insisted, not giving me a choice.
"Yes, Grandma." I replied, giving her what she wanted.
"Let's go!" Grandma enthusiastically declared, leading the way.
Twenty-Five Minutes Later:
"We'll see you at later at your home." Grandma and Grandpa told me when we went our separate ways.
We spent ten minutes finding the right baby monitors: we ended up getting one of the most expensive ones. It was a pack of eight: four visual monitors and four audio monitors. I like having a visual on Miyuki, but I would've been happy with a three—or even four-pack. And why can the visual and audio monitors be in one thing?
Why can't I say "no" to Grandma and Grandpa when it comes to this?
And then we spent another ten minutes picking out toys:
Grandma picked out a few more stuffed animals.
Grandpa picked out some of those large building blocks.
Now I was in the arts and crafts section.
"I thought I saw you." I heard Gohan say from my right.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, watching him.
"I could ask you the same thing. Didn't you do a bunch of shopping yesterday?" Gohan asked, watching me.
"Yeah, we did. But we forgot to get some baby monitors; it completely escaped our minds. And then I thought of something else this morning. But I ran into Grandma and Grandpa: they insisted on picking up the baby monitors and something else for Miyuki—after I told them about her. Aunt Tights knows as well. Apparently, she's not supportive of Miyuki. But whatever. Now, what are you doing here?" I explained before asking again.
"Pan needed new soccer supplies. And Videl wanted some groceries. I just kind of got roped into coming with. And then I saw you. What are you getting in the arts and crafts section? Isn't Miyuki a little young yet for this stuff?" Gohan asked, watching me looking at notebooks.
"I'm not getting arts and crafts stuff for Miyuki; I'm getting her some notebooks—in a sense. Then I'm going to go find stickers." I answered, looking at the notebooks.
"Ok… Why?" Gohan asked, confused.
"Miyuki seems to like stickers, so I figured they'd be the best for some type of reward system. I'm going to get one book for crawling—and eventually walking. Right now, she's not strong enough to move for long distances by herself; she gets so tired after so long. You were there yesterday; you saw. I'm hoping the stickers will motivate her to crawl. And as she continues crawling, hopefully she'll become stronger and be able to make it around the house without becoming so exhausted. The stickers will help monitor her progress."
"One book I'll use for her therapy and how well she does with it. One sticker for each leg lift she does well and one for each hip turn. In turn, that will hopefully help with her crawling. Then I'll get her a different notebook for everyone we know, so that way we can see how well she acts around any of us—or talks to any of us. If she panics or becomes upset, she won't get a sticker. But if she doesn't panic; she'll get a sticker—two if she communicates somehow." I explained.
"Are you going to get a notebook for food as well?" Gohan asked, watching me.
"No. Not yet anyway. Right now, Miyuki's not too picky and likes food. Honestly, I don't think she'll ever be too picky with how Daisy was with her. I'm not too sure she got much food with her. I don't even know when she started getting teeth. But we have her try something, and if she likes it, she'll eat it. If not, she spits it out. And if she really doesn't like it (like onions), she'll spit it out and start crying. Maybe I should grab some more orange juice. She seems to suck that down quickly." I replied before muttering to myself.
"You may want to get tags or something to write what notebook is for what on the fronts. I would recommend masking tape. It's easy to tear and write on using pen—or sharpie." Gohan suggested.
"Right. Thanks. Now, I just need to find the stickers." I replied, grabbing several different notebooks. If I have extra, I can use them for whatever. Or Miyuki can have them to scribble in. Or maybe Mom or Dad could use them.
"Videl or Pan may know where those are." Gohan told me, but he wasn't a hundred percent sure.
It took a few minutes, but we found where the stickers were. There were all sorts of them.
I also got a few individual bottles of orange juice for Miyuki.
"Did you get enough stickers?" Pan asked, watching me.
"No, probably not. I'm going to find another store. I just didn't want to buy all the stickers here. I'll see you all later. I have to get to at least another store or two before heading home." I replied before heading to the checkouts.
I'm sure I got several strange looks from not only people I passed but the checkout lady as well.
"Thank you. Have a nice day." I told the lady before teleporting away.
I vaguely heard her say the same thing.
Thank God for Piccolo. He held my bags while I went into two more stores to get more stickers.
Normal P.O.V.:
"I'm home." Trunks spoke, appearing in the living room with Piccolo.
"What took you so long?" Vegeta asked when Trunks walked into the kitchen.
"Vegeta, be nice. But he does have a point. You said you weren't going to be gone long. That was over an hour ago." Bulma scolded Vegeta before scolding Trunks.
"Did Miyuki wake up?" Trunks asked, watching his parents.
"No; she's still asleep." Bulma and Vegeta answered.
"More orange juice?" Vegeta asked, watching Trunks put the orange juice in the fridge.
"Ok. Sorry I took longer than planned. Yes. I figure she'll suck that down rather quickly, so I grabbed a few small bottles."
"Grandma and Grandpa now know about Miyuki; they were at the supermarket I just so happened to go to. They'll be here as soon as they can to meet her. According to Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Tights doesn't support my decision to keep Miyuki—and many more mean things. Umm… Grandma insisted on buying the baby monitors: so, they'll be bringing those, along with some presents for everyone else including Miyuki. I explained what happened to her to a certain point."
"Then, once I was able to get away from them to finish getting what I needed for Miyuki; I ran into Gohan. He, Pan, and Videl helped find the last thing I needed. Notebooks and stickers: they're to help Miyuki's growth. She gets to put a sticker in her notebook for teaching her how to crawl. Hopefully, she'll become stronger and earn more stickers as she goes on. She'll also have a sticker notebook for her therapy as well. Then she'll have a notebook for each one of our friends indicating how well she does around them. Does she panic around someone? Does she do well and communicate with someone? No stickers for panicking. One sticker for doing fine. And two stickers for if she can communicate with someone. Then I ran into Piccolo." Trunks calmly explained after apologizing for being late.
"That's a fantastic idea." Bulma proudly praised Trunks.
"Da!" They heard Miyuki yell before hearing her start bawling.
"She's awake. I'll be right back." Trunks told Bulma and Vegeta, setting his bags down before getting Miyuki.
"Good morning, Princess." Trunks calmly greeted Miyuki after turning on the light.
"Da!" Miyuki happily cried, sniffling a little. But she stopped bawling the moment she saw Trunks.
"Did you or do you need to potty or poo?" Trunks asked, leaning over her crib.
"Yeah." Miyuki softly answered, making a face.
"Come on. We'll get you in the tub and get you cleaned and nicely dressed; we have company coming today." Trunks told Miyuki, lifting her out of the crib.
"Mmm…" Miyuki moaned, hiding her face in Trunks's shoulder.
"Don't worry; everything will be ok. Great Grandma and Great Grandpa are coming to visit; they won't hurt you." Trunks promised Miyuki, carrying her to the bathroom.
"Trunks? What are you doing?" Bulma asked, walking down the hall.
"I'm going to give Miyuki a bath, get her cleaned before Grandma and Grandpa get here. Get her diaper rash cream and allergy medication rubbed in. If I have time, therapy and maybe crawling. However, she should probably eat something." Trunks answered as Miyuki leaned back a little to see who he was talking to.
"Hi, Sweetheart. Do you have an outfit picked out?" Bulma greeted Miyuki before asking.
"Not yet, no. Her clothes are still in the living room. Would you mind?" Trunks answered and then asked, already knowing the answer; he could see it all over his mother's face.
"Of course. I'd love to. Oh, and your father's making pancakes, sausage, bacon, and eggs." Bulma informed Trunks before excitedly heading to find Miyuki something to wear.
Fifteen Minutes Later:
"Food will be ready in about ten minutes or so." Vegeta informed Trunks when he walked out with Miyuki, dressed in a pretty baby-blue shirt with flowers on the front. She wore a matching skirt with dark blue shorts underneath and white and yellow socks. Bulma put her hair up in simple pigtails with purple ribbons.
"Well, seeing as we have time, do you want to do your therapy?" Trunks asked Miyuki.
"Yeah." Miyuki softly answered with her finger in her mouth.
"Let's see if we can find you a blanket and a pillow to lay on." Trunks told Miyuki, looking in the living room.
"That's what grandmas are for." Bulma insisted, walking over with Miyuki's special blanket and the flat pillow.
"Thank you. Did Piccolo leave?" Trunks thanked his mother before asking.
"Yeah. He didn't want to be here when your grandparents got here. He's always had a hard time around—especially your grandmother; they're too peppy for him—especially your grandmother." Bulma answered with a small smile.
"Lucky S.O.B." Vegeta muttered.
"I heard that." Bulma growled at Vegeta.
"Love you, Dear." Vegeta responded, flipping a pancake.
"Uh-huh…" Bulma replied, not believing him.
20 Knee Bends & 10 Hip Rolls Later:
"Is food ready yet?" Bulma asked, watching Vegeta.
"Everything but the bacon." Vegeta answered, placing some bacon in the pan.
"Who are they?" Trunks asked Miyuki, pointing to Bulma and Vegeta.
"Mew-Mew? Pop-Pop?" Miyuki asked, scrunching up a little.
"Very good." Trunks praised Miyuki, kissing the top of her head.
"Boo-a?" Miyuki asked, looking around.
"She's not here right now; she had to go to school." Trunks answered, setting Miyuki in her highchair.
As soon as she was situated, Miyuki pointed to the bags on the table.
"Do you want to see?" Trunks asked, pulling the bags over.
Miyuki quickly shook her head, afraid.
"Oh, no. Don't be scared or upset. These are for you. Here. I can even show you how these are going to work." Trunks calmly insisted, taking Miyuki's hand and rubbing her fingers.
She nodded her head, watching Trunks.
"Here. We'll just grab one, and it'll be your therapy notebook." Trunks told Miyuki, grabbing a dark purple notebook with colorful 3D stars decorating the front. He took some tape, placed it on the front, and wrote "Miyuki's Therapy Reward Book."
"Now, I'll write today's date on this page with "Morning" also written next to that. And then because you did so well with your therapy, you get to place stickers where I point to." Trunks explained, showing Miyuki the stickers he picked out.
"She likes those things." Vegeta stated, walking over with food.
"You can pick ten stickers. But you have to be quick because breakfast is ready. Or do you want to eat first?" Trunks told Miyuki before asking.
"Yeah." Miyuki answered, watching the pancakes.
"You go ahead and pick your stickers. I'll make you a plate and make sure you can eat all by yourself." Bulma insisted, holding one of Miyuki's plates.
"Ok. Start picking stickers. Mew-Mew's getting your food ready. Maybe if you ask nicely, Pop-Pop will help you." Trunks told Miyuki, folding the cover of the notebook over.
"Pop-Pop?" Miyuki asked with her finger in her mouth.
"What do I need to do?" Vegeta questioned, walking over.
"I will peel the stickers from their pages, so she can put them on their new pages. I need you to use your finger to point to a spot on the top of the page, under the date for her to put them. With how small the stickers are, the pages can be used a few times. I can probably get morning, afternoon, and night on one page." Trunks explained, getting a sticker pad.
"Ok." Vegeta sighed, watching Miyuki watching him.
"Ok, Princess: place this sticker where Pop-Pop puts his finger. Remember, the sticky side goes on the paper, so everyone can see the picture." Trunks instructed, handing Miyuki a heart sticker.
"Good girl." Vegeta praised Miyuki when she placed the sticker.
"Ahh!" Miyuki happily squealed, kicking her legs.
"Is that a good thing?" Vegeta asked, confused.
"Yeah. She's happy. She did this yesterday when we did her therapy. Are you ready for your next sticker?" Trunks asked, pulling another heart sticker off.
"Yeah." Miyuki happily answered, still wiggling around.
Every other time, Trunks will let Miyuki pick the stickers, but for now, because breakfast was ready, he was going to pick them out.
Nine Stickers Later:
Each time Miyuki placed a sticker, Vegeta, Trunks, or Bulma would praise her, and she would happily squeal.
"Ok. All done for now. Later, I will cut some of these up and put them in a box for when you crawl. I'll put some stickers on the floor for you to crawl to. And when you get to that sticker, I'll pick it up so you can put it in a different book later. You'll have books for people as well, but we'll talk about that later." Trunks told Miyuki, placing everything in the bags as Bulma put Miyuki's food in front of her.
"Go ahead, Sweetheart. That's all for you. And you have a little bowl of syrup for dunking. Just don't overdo it." Bulma calmly told Miyuki.
Slowly and nervously, Miyuki picked up a piece of pancake and dunked it in before eating it.
"Is that good?" Trunks asked, watching Miyuki eat her food.
"Nummy." Miyuki muttered, her mouth full of food.
"That's a good girl." Trunks proudly praised Mai.
"Ticker?" Miyuki softly asked.
"I'm sorry, Princess. But no, these stickers are rewards for crawling, therapy, and other things. But tell you what: in a few weeks, I'll get you your very own special notebook and stickers for you to do with whatever you wish. How about that?" Trunks explained to Miyuki.
"K." Miyuki softly replied before eating a piece of sausage.
"Good girl." Trunks praised her, patting her head.
"Dink?" Miyuki asked, looking around.
"Dink?" Vegeta asked, confused.
"Dink? Oh. Drink. Shoot. Hold on, Princess." Trunks told Miyuki after realizing she didn't have a bottle.
"I'm so sorry, Sweetheart; I didn't even think to get you anything to drink." Bulma apologized to Miyuki, confusing her.
"Don't look at me; I was in charge of food. But I'm sorry as well." Vegeta told Bulma after she gave him a look. He apologized to Miyuki only because he felt guilty looking at her little face.
"Ok. I'm going to give you your bottle, but you have to promise not to suck through it so fast; you need to eat your food too." Trunks calmly told Miyuki, sitting in his chair.
"K." Miyuki softly replied, looking for whatever drink she was getting. She immediately became excited when she saw her bottle filled with orange juice.
"She really likes her orange juice." Vegeta noted, watching Miyuki.
"She does. Go 'head; you can have some now." Trunks replied, setting the orange juice in front of Miyuki. He then told Miyuki she could have her orange juice after noticing her hesitation.
"Oh. Mom and Dad are here." Bulma noted, looking out the front window after seeing Miyuki's ears twitching.
"Great…" Vegeta mumbled, sinking into his chair.
"Knock it off. Don't listen to Pop-Pop. Great Grandma and Great Grandpa may be a lot, but they're good people." Bulma told Miyuki, getting up to head to the door to let her parents inside.
"Hi, Bulma." Dr. Briefs and Panchy happily greeted Bulma, hugging her.
"Mom, Dad. What brings you over?" Bulma asked, only knowing part of the story.
"As we told Trunks at the store, we missed all of you. Phone and video calls just weren't doing it for us anymore, so we decided to visit." Dr. Briefs answered Bulma.
"We hear we have a great grandchild now. Where is she?" Panchy eagerly questioned.
"Right now, she's eating. You can come say "hi," but please just let her eat before you dote on her or whatever. And make sure you ask Trunks for permission on what you can and cannot do." Bulma replied, leading her parents to the kitchen.
"Awww! Look at those little ears!" Panchy excitedly exclaimed, seeing Miyuki's ears first.
"Hello again, Trunks. Vegeta, it's good to see you looking well." Dr. Briefs greeted Trunks and Vegeta.
"Hi, Grandpa." Trunks greeted, hugging his grandfather.
"Hey. You both look well as well." Vegeta replied, watching Miyuki, gaging her reaction.
For the most part, Vegeta got along with Bulma's father. But when it comes to Panchy, he becomes very annoyed and agitated. However, that being said, he does love his in-laws and will do what it takes to protect them.
"Thank you, Vegeta." Panchy replied, hugging him.
'Stay calm. Stay calm. Don't yell. Don't get up and randomly storm off. Not in front of Miyuki. You can handle this for a few seconds.' Vegeta mentally pepped himself up for Miyuki's sake.
"Well, look at you Vegeta. You usually pull away by now." Dr. Briefs proudly spoke to Vegeta.
"I'm finally rubbing off on him." Panchy happily replied.
'Yeah—that's it.' Bulma and Trunks sarcastically thought to themselves with blank stares.
"Mom, Dad: why don't you sit down?" Bulma asked, pulling out chairs for her parents.
"So, this is our great granddaughter?" Dr. Briefs asked, looking at Miyuki.
"Yes. This is Miyuki. Miyuki: these are your great grandparents. This is Great Grandma, and this is Great Grandpa. Like everyone else here, they won't hurt you; I promise." Trunks introduced Miyuki to his grandparents and vice versa.
Miyuki just stared at Dr. Briefs and Panchy, unsure.
"She's so adorable!" Panchy excitedly exclaimed, watching Miyuki, causing her to shrink into her highchair.
"Mom. You can't be yelling like that in front of Miyuki. We all understand that that's how you are. But Miyuki doesn't and is afraid of loud noises—and yelling." Bulma scolded her mother.
"I'm sorry. I just can't help it. I mean: just look at her; she's so adorable." Panchy apologized.
"Trust me: I know. But for Miyuki's sake, I've been doing my best to hold back." Bulma firmly told her mother.
"Ok." Panchy replied with a smile.
"Oh. Here is your baby monitor." Dr. Briefs told Trunks, setting a bag in front of Trunks.
"Thanks. But wait. This isn't the one we picked out." Trunks thanked Dr. Briefs before noticing it wasn't the same thing. This one was two visual monitors and two audio monitors.
"Yes, we know; we were never going to buy that other one. Not only was it too expensive, but we saw the one you were looking at. We want you to have what you want for your child." Dr. Briefs explained, watching Trunks.
"Thank you." Trunks replied, setting the box on the floor, under the table.
"Of course." Dr. Briefs and Panchy replied with a smile.
"Oh, I know that look: you have to wait until Bulla gets home for your presents." Panchy sternly told Trunks with a smile.
"Wait. You didn't have to get me anything; you already got me the monitors. I don't need anything else." Trunks immediately protested.
"Nonsense. You and your sister are our only grandchildren; we'll always bring you something when we visit after not seeing you for a long time. Plus, your birthday was just a few days ago, so we have your birthday presents. And now, we have a beautiful little great granddaughter to love and spoil." Panchy happily insisted.
"No… Da!" Miyuki cried, reaching for Trunks.
"Did I say something wrong?" Panchy asked, confused—and maybe a little hurt.
"Miyuki doesn't want to be spoiled." Trunks answered, removing Miyuki from her highchair.
"Oh, Sweetie; I'm sorry. But as grandparents—and now great grandparents; that's what we do. But I promise you; you won't get in trouble or anything. Besides, being a little spoiled isn't horrible. What you truly don't want is to be spoiled rotten. But knowing your daddy and grandparents: you will never become spoiled rotten." Panchy did her best to explain to Miyuki.
"There you are. I think it may be time to move back home." Dr. Briefs gently spoke to Miyuki before insisting.
"Really?" Panchy excitedly asked.
"Yeah. Our home hasn't been sold—not that it was ever on the market. What? I wasn't planning on working with Mr. Apal for too long. Now that Trunks has Miyuki, I want to be able to see her more than once every few month. It seems like she's very shy little girl—no offense meant—possibly on the slower side. I want her to get used to us, and always be used to us. I don't want her to forget us every time we leave. Again, no offense meant." Dr. Briefs replied before telling Trunks.
"No offense taken. We know she's slower. We talked to Future Trunks, and he informed us that doctors are going to diagnose her with Low-Functioning Autism and ADD. But I guess Nekodians are a slower species. And as unfortunate as it is, Miyuki falls under the category of slowest Nekodians there is. I think he said fifteen percent or something like that." Trunks started answering.
"Twenty percent." Bulma corrected Trunks.
"Right. She is part of the twenty percent of Nekodians who are beyond slow. She is technically incapable of learning. However, Future Trunks explained that she is, in fact, capable of learning some things. He didn't say what, but he did say she struggles with math, science, geography, and other educational issues. But again, I love her more than I've ever loved anyone or anything, and we'll figure something out." Trunks finished explaining, bouncing Miyuki a little.
"Just wait until she gets older: her appearance changes so much. She gets a little taller, her ears get a little bigger, and her hair changes color." Bulma happily told her parents.
"She also has three older brothers on her mother's side. They all have different fathers though." Vegeta gruffly added.
"Ok, Pop-Pop: that's enough of that. Miyuki doesn't need to hear that." Trunks firmly told Vegeta when Miyuki's ears started twitching.
"Pop-Pop?" Panchy asked, confused.
"That's what she calls Dad. She calls Mom "Mew-Mew," and Bulla "Boo-a." Right now, she calls me "Da." According to Future Trunks, Goku and Chi-Chi are Grandma and Grandpa. I've made Gohan and Videl her godparents, so Goku and Chi-Chi are her god grandparents. We don't talk much, but we say what we need to say." Trunks explained, placing Miyuki in her highchair to finish eating.
"Yeah, I'll get you more orange juice. But you need to eat your food." Trunks told Miyuki, taking her empty bottle that she was waving around.
As soon as he took the bottle, Miyuki started eating again…
