Chapter 3
"Not you again." Bonnie said about the Ursaring trainer.
"Afraid so, little girl." He said. "You can't get rid of me that easily. I still want Jirachi, so hand it over."
"And again, you can't have it." Max said in a firm voice. "So you and your friends just go away!" The guy grinned wickedly.
"My friends and I, aka Team Nightmare aren't going anywhere without Jirachi, kid."
"Team Nightmare? Never heard of you."
"I never heard of you either," Bonnie added. "Do you people specialize in ghost type Pokemon?"
"No. We just agreed on the name because we liked it." One the other grunts stepped up, changing the subject.
"Anyways, that Suicine ran away from us when we captured it near Professor Cerise's lab." He spoke. "We came to get it back."
"Well that's too bad." Goh told them. "Suicine's my Pokemon and I'm not going to let you bad people take it away." The bad guys were all surprised.
"Wait a minute. It was you that caught Suicine? The "Legendary Pokemon?' Our friends told us a trainer caught it with one throw of a Pokeball."
"That's right. That was me. And you know what else? I wanted to return it to the wild, but it chose to come with me because I was so nice to it compared to you and your no good friends."
"No good friends, huh? Let me show you what my friends and I can do in a Pokemon battle. If we win, we get what we want. If we lose, we also get what we want." All of them got their Pokeballs out, ready to throw.
"That's not fair for us!" Bonnie complained. "You can't say that you guys will get what you want if you win and lose. It's one or the other. You can't choose both."
"Again, sorry, little girl. Our boss wants Legendaries. What can I say?" Gary looked at Goh.
"Looks like we have to battle." He told him. Goh didn't really want to team up with Gary, but he had no choice. He gave Gary a determined nod.
"I guess we have to." He agreed. Goh looked at Cinderace, who was all ready to fight. "Cinderace, let's fight. Let's save Suicine, Jirachi and the other Legendaries!"
"Cinderace!" The fire rabbit said, all determined. Gary called upon his Umbreon again. Another grunt ran up to the group.
"I caught that pesky Mew!" He told the leader grunt, shocking both Goh and Gary. "It was hard, but I finally did it!"
"Good job!" The leader congratulated him. "Now, help us fight off these pesky trainers who want to ruin our plans."
"Will do!" He agreed, getting his Pokeball ready.
"You can't have Mew either!" Gary said to them. "You're just use it for evil and we aren't going to let you do that."
"Yeah!" Goh agreed. "And ever since I saw Mew when I was little, it's been my ultimate dream and goal in life to catch it for myself. I'm not going to let you take that dream away from me."
"Hate to tell you this. But not all dreams come true. It's better you know that sooner rather than later."
"I know that, but do you know?"
"Of course we do, kid. Now, enough chitchat and let's fight!" They all called upon their Pokemon. There was Steelix, Alakazam, Skarmory, Machamp and Poliwrath.
"There's too many of them!" Bonnie said. "Will you be able to handle them all by yourselves?"
"Don't forget Bonnie," Squishy began. "…they also have me to battle alongside them. Also you and Dedenne." Bonnie looked at Squishy.
"Me?" She asked. "But I'm not a Pokemon trainer yet. I can't!"
"You have to!" Max said to Bonnie. "You can't just stand by and watch!"
"Dedenne!" Said a determined Dedenne. Bonnie looked at the mouse.
"You, Dedenne?" Dedenne nodded. Bonnie then got it and knew what had to be done. "Then let's do it! Let's defeat these meanies!"
"We need one more to make it a fair fight." Max observed. "Never in my life have I ever wished for a Pokemon of my very own already. That or maybe if Jirachi would just wake up."
"Well, we're not going to call one of our Pokemon back, little boy." The leader told him. "It's either we fight with the Pokemon we have out or you guys forfeit and we'll be on our way with the Legendaries."
"We'll never forfeit!" Gary shouted. "We'll battle with what we have!"
"Yeah!" Goh put in. "Although 4 vs 5 is so unfair, if it means stopping you guys from your evil acts, then we'll do it without hesitation, no questions asked!" Suddenly. Sprigatito ran up, looking mad. Everyone was shocked.
"Sprigatito!" The cat roared.
"Sprigatito?" Goh questioned.
"Are you sure you should battle with a bandage on your leg?" Bonnie asked. "I mean, I'm all for seeing a Pokemon from a new region fight, but not if you're not up for it."
"Yeah." Goh said. "I agree. Sorry, but I think you should…"
"Sprig!" The cat disagreed, shaking its head. "Sprigatito!"
"Sprigigatito's one determined Pokemon." Gary stated. "Even when wounded, it still wants to fight, You have to admire its spunk."
"Well, maybe we'll take that spunky Pokemon as well." The leader spoke. "It may not look like a Legendary, but considering it's not a Pokemon we have seen before, it must be of some value."
"I don't think its trainer will allow that." Gary spoke.
"Oh? It already belongs to a trainer? Well, we don't care. We'll take it anyway."
"You're a bully!" Bonnie spat.
"Sorry, missy, but this is just part of the job." He looked at his Machamp. "Machamp, Cross Chop that Pokemon!" Machamp prepared for its attack. Sprigatio pounced at Machamp, but collapsed to the ground. The good guys and their Pokemon all gasped.
"Sprigatito, oh no!" Bonnie cried out. The leader chuckled.
"It caved in that fast, huh? Man, this'll be easy." Goh ran over to the fallen weed cat Pokemon.
"Sprigatito," He began. "I know how badly you want to fight, but you're not in the best shape right now. You can't overdo it. You have to think of your wellbeing." Sprigitio looked at him, trying to get up. It shook its head.
"Sprigatito. Sprig. Sprig. Sprigatito."
"Sprigatito, please." Sprigatito fell to the ground again. "Sprigatito!" Goh grabbed the Pokemon and carried it to the side, setting it down gently. "I'm sorry, but I can't let you do this to yourself." Sprigatitto opened its eyes. "Don't!" Sprigatito looked up at him. "Don't worry, Sprigatito. Although we're outnumbered, we'll find a way. We won't let those guys take you, I promise." Sprigatio sadly nodded, understood, and went to the sideline again. Goh looked at the bad guys. "You want to fight? You got it! Let's battle." The leader grinned.
"It's all I've been waiting for, kid." Max clenched his fists in anger.
If only I had a Pokemon to fight! He thought. If only I was old enough, then I could help out all of my friends. But I can't. I can only stand back here. And watch. I feel so powerless; I hate it!
"I'll be your Pokemon, little twirp!" Meowth said, ready to fight Machamp. Max was shocked. "You just say the word and I'll fight!" But with one look, Meowth ran behind Max, scared. "Sorry, but you know both you and I will just fail miserably out there!
"Coward!" An angry Max shouted. Meowth hung his head in shame.
"I know. I am a coward. The biggest coward there ever was! Forgive me?"
"Yeah, right; dream on!"
"I suppose I deserved that." Max frowned. Jirachi then woke up and saw his disappointed friend.
"I just wish that I had a Pokemon to fight, maybe that Ralts that I befriended." Jirachi's wish tags glowed.
Just then Ralts appeared. This surprised everyone. Is that… "Ralts, is that really you?" Ralts turned its head and nodded.
"Ralts, Ralts!" Ralts said. Max smiled.
"Wow, Ralts; you came here! You must have sensed that we needed help, didn't you?" Ralts shook his head, confusing Max.
"That was me." Jirachi said. "I wanted to help." Max smiled as he looked down at him.
"Thanks, Jirachi." He then looked determined. "Okay, now it's fair! Let's do this Ralts and help out our friends!" Ralts looked determined as well.
"Ralts, Ralts!"
Cinderace will be excellent against that Skarmory since fire is super effective on steel types. Goh thought to himself. He looked at Gary, Squishy and Bonnie. "Gary, Bonnie, and Squishy. Cinderace and I will battle Skarmory."
"Sounds good to me." Gary said to him. Max looked at Goh.
"Well, at least he's using his brain." Max observed to himself about Goh. Goh looked up at Cinderace.
"Cinderace, use Ember on Skarmory." Goh ordered. Cinderace did as it was told.
"Poliwrath, Water Gun on Cinderace!" Poliwrath's trainer commanded it.
"Poliwrath wrath!" It said, doing a Water Gun on Cinderace. Goh gasped as Cinderace was being drenched with the attack.
"Cinderace, no!" He cried. It took all of Cinderace's remaining strength to stand back up.
"Cinderace!" It said.
"Can you still battle?" Goh smiled when Cinderace nodded. He shot a look at the Poliwrath trainer. "That was a rotten trick you just did for you to attack my Cinderace like that when it was going for Skarmory." The Poliwrath trainer shrugged.
"Sorry, kid, but you should know that water beats fire. There's no way I'm missing that opportunity."
"And electricy beats water." Bonnie said. "Quick, Dedenne, Nuzzle on Poliwrath!" Before Poliwrath could react, Dedenne ran up to it and did Nuzzle. Bonnie cheered when it was a direct hit.
"Alright; good one, Dedenne! That should have weakened it!"
"Dedenne!" Dedenne said proudly.
"Hold on!" Poliwrath's trainer said. "Poliwrath still stands, right, Poliwrath?"
"Poliwrath!" The water fighting Pokemon said, damaged, but still standing. Bonnie was surprised.
"But, how? I thought for sure an electric attack like Nuzzle would knock it out."
"Guess again, little girl!" Poliwrath's trainer said to her. "It's going to take a lot more than your Dedenne's puny Nuzzle to defeat my Poliwrath."
"My Dedenne's not puny, and neither am I!" Bonnie argued. "And we are going to show you, right Dedenne?"
"Denne, Denne!" The rodent agreed, angrily. The trainer grinned.
"I like to see you try, little girl. Me against a little kid. This'll be easy. You're cute, I give you that. But, that doesn't mean anything. This is the big leagues, so just because of your age, I'm not going to go easy on you. Poliwrath and I are still going to win." Both Bonnie and Dedenne scowled at this. "I will ask you this, do you want to go first or should I?"
"You can."
"And we'll focus on Skarmory again." Goh stated.
"Very well. Poliwrath. Use Ice Punch!" Poliwrath ran up to the mouse Pokemon, gearing up for an Ice Punch.
"Dedenne, jump and use Thunder!" Bonnie commanded. Dedenne ran to Poliwrath and did one really huge leap. When it was above its opponent, It used a powerful Thunder. It electrocuted Poliwrath. The girl cheered.
"Yes, that has to be enough to faint it!" But Poliwrath, even though it was in pain, was still standing after the attack. Bonnie was shocked.
"What!? That didn't faint it? It had to!"
"Sorry, girlie." Poliwrath's trainer said to her. "My Poliwrath's a fighter. Are you and your Dedenne?"
"Of course we are. I may not be an official Pokemon trainer yet, but I know that if something doesn't go quite as you plan, you keep at it, and never give up. And that is what I plan to do!" Poliwrath's trainer chuckled.
"My, my, you're cute and clever for your age. However, you're still going to lose! Poliwrath, use Body Slam!" It was Poliwrath's turn to jump really high above Dedenne.
"Dedenne, Thunder again!" Dedenne did another Thunder. However, yet again, Poliwrath still managed to survive. Bonnie stomped in frustration.
"Aw, come on!" But because she was distracted, Poliwrath pinned Dedenne down to the ground. "Dedenne!"
Hmmmm. Meowth thought to himself. Something's not right.
"Dedenne?" Dedenne asked, realizing something. Poliwrath's belly felt like it was made of metal.
"Poliwrath, use Circle Throw!" But before Poliwrath could, Dedenne grabbed something off of Poliwrath and threw it to the ground. Bonnie, Max, and Poliwrath's trainer all gasped. Poliwrath had on body armor!
"What the?" Bonnie asked herself. "Armor? Why was it wearing armor?"
"Cheater!" Meowth shouted at Poliwrath's trainer. He looked at Bonnie. "Mini Twirpette, Poliwrath was wearing electric proof armor on its body and wrists. That's why Dedenne's electric attacks didn't do much!" Bonnie was now mad at the man. So was Dedenne.
"Cheater!" She cried out. "I guess you were scared of losing to a little girl after all, huh?"
"It doesn't matter!" The trainer cried out. "I'm still going to win! Poliwrath, finish it off with Circle Throw!"
"Dedenne, come on! Third time's the charm; use Thunder!" Poliwrath was about to use Circle Throw, but Dedenne was too fast and used another Thunder. It did a direct hit. Poliwrath immediately fainted.
"NOOOOOOO!" Poliwrath's trainer cried out as Bonnie cheered with Dedenne. "I can't believe I was beaten by a little girl!" Max smiled.
Now that Poliwrath is battling Bonnie and Dedenne, Goh thought to himself. Cinderace and I can battle against that Skarmory. "Cinderace, use Ember again on Skarmory!" Cinderace kicked its fiery pebble at Skarmory.
"Skarmory, dodge it and use Swift!" Its trainer called to it. The steel Pokemon dodged Ember by flying and did its Swift attack. It hit Cinderace and Cinderace fell to the ground.
"You okay?" Goh asked it. Cinderace jumped to its feet. "You're okay. Now, Pyro Ball!" Cinderace did just that.
"Dodge it!" Skarmory tried to dodge it, but one of its wings got hit and got burned. It cried out in pain. Goh cheered as Skarmory's trainer cried out in frustration.
"Yes! Way to go, Cinderace! Now since it's burned, it'll slowly weaken it until it faints!"
"Don't be so sure on that, kid!" Skarmory's trainer pulled out a Burn Heal and threw it at Skarmory. "Here you go, Skarmory!" Skarmory drank the potion and was immediately healed. Goh was impressed. "Always come prepared, kid!"
"Right! However, we are still going to win. Pyro Ball again!
"Dodge it and Steel Wing!" Cinderace did the attack again. Skarmory dodged and did Steel Wing. It was so fast and hit Cinderace. Cinderace went flying to the ground.
"Cinderace! Quick get up before…"
"Again!" Skarmory did another Steel Wing and it hit. Again, Cinderace flew to the ground.
"Cinderace!"
"Again!" It did it again and again with the same result every time. Goh couldn't believe it as he saw his Pokemon fall each time. What should I do? If this keeps up, Cinderace will lose for sure! Skarmory's too fast for Cinderace to even do anything! "Finish it up, Skarmory!
Skarmory did another one, but this one was slower. This excited Goh. Skarmory's so tired from using Steel Wing that it's slowing down. This is our chance! He looked at Cinderace who had gotten up.
"Cinderace, dodge it and use Ember!" Cinderace dodged it in the nick of time and used Ember. Skarmory looked behind it, only for it to be hit in the back with Ember. It screamed in pain.
"No, Skarmory!" Its trainer shouted.
"Yeah! Now, finish it off by using Double Kick!" Cinderace kicked Skarmory a few times in mid-air with Double Kick and kicked it to the ground, fainting the steel type.
"NOOOOOO!"
"Yeah! Pound it, Cinderace!" Goh put out his fist. Cinderace looked at it and immediately fist bumped it. Skarmory's trainer was now furious.
"Grrrrrr! Skarmory would have won if it wasn't so slow!"
"Perhaps. But it was tired of using Steel Wing one too many times.
"Looks like it's you and me again!" The Ursaring trainer said to Gary. Gary smirked.
"Looks like it." He agreed. He looked at Umbreon "You ready to do this again, Umbreon?"
"Umbreon!" Umbreon responded, getting into a fighting position.
"We're going to defeat this pesky Umbreon this time, aren't we, Ursaring?"
"Ursaring!" Ursaring roared, also ready to fight.
"Umbreon, use Swift!" Gary commanded.
"Umbre!" Umbreon said and did just that. Swift made contact with Ursaring.
"Ursaring, fight back with Slash!" Its trainer shouted.
"Ursaring!" Ursaring yelled. Despite being hit with Swift, it managed to lunge at Umbreon!
"Umbreon, dodge it!" Gary ordered.
"Umbre!" Umbreon cried, obeying its master.
"Ursaring, keep slashing until you make contact!" Shouted the trainer.
"And you just keep on dodging it, Umbreon!" Umbreon's trainer shouted as well. Umbreon did just that. And that it how it went for a while, Ursaring kept using Slash and Umbreon kept on dodging it. Both of their trainers smirked.
Ursaring will get tired eventually! Gary thought to himself. And then that is when Umbreon will finish this once and for all!
I bet that know- it- all trainer is expecting Ursaring will get tired. Ursaring's trainer thought. And then, that's when they'll get the upper hand and Umbreon will strike the final blow. Unfortunately that is where they are wrong. It will get tired way before Ursaring, then we'll get the upper hand and Ursaring will get the final blow. He laughed in his mind. My Ursaring! This plan will not go wrong!
As the battle went on for several seconds, both Pokemon were getting tired. Their trainers knew they had to change tactics.
"Ursaring, Finish it off with Hammer Arm!" Its trainer commanded.
"Umbreon, bite Ursaring on the arm!" Gary shouted at his Pokemon. "Don't let it use Hammer Arm!" And so, before Usaring could use Hammer Arm, Umbreon bit its arm. Usaring yelled in pain. "Now, confuse it with Confuse Ray!" Umbreon confused it. The big bear was so confuse that it didn't know where Umbreon was, so it went towards Machamp.
"Where are you going?!" Its trainer yelled at Ursaring. "Come back here and use Hammer Arm on Umbreon!" Ursaring didn't come back and used Hammer Arm on a unsuspecting Machamp. Machamp was hit and fell to the ground. Machamp's trainer was mad.
"What in the Pokemon world do you think you're doing?!" Yelled Machamp's trainer. "We are on the same side, aren't we?"
"I'm sorry!" Ursaring's trainer apologized. "We are on the same side. Ursaring didn't mean it. It just got confused."
"Excuses, excuses!" Machamp got up, also mad. "Machamp, teach that Ursaring what you think of it attacking you out of the blue like that by using your Cross Chop on it!" Machamp did just that, making Ursaring faint.
"Ursaring, nooooo!" His trainer shouted, then was mad at the Machamp trainer.
"We're supposed to attack our enemies, not each other, you nitwit!" The Ursaring trainer shouted at the Machamp trainer. The Machamp trainer only shrugged with a goofy grin.
"What can I say?" He said. "I can't help it if you Ursaring attacks my Machamp for no reason." Ursaring's trainer got beet red.
"I told you! Ursaring got confused!"
"I don't believe you."
"Well, believe me because it's true!" Gary faked a yawn.
"This is getting boring and pathetic." He observed out loud to no one in particular. He looked back at Max and Ralts. "May I, kid?" Max nodded.
"You bet!" He agreed. Gary then looked at his Umbreon.
"Okay, Umbreon. Shadow Ball on Machamp!" Umbreon did just that on Machamp and Machamp fainted. Machamp's trainer couldn't believe it.
"Machamp!" He yelled. He shot a look at Gary. "No fair! The kid was battling me!"
"The kid let me." Gary said to him with a shrug. "What can I say?" He looked back at Max. "You alright there, Max?"
"Sure." Max lied. But the truth was, he wasn't okay. He let Ralts get defeated and lost. He didn't like it. It made him upset.
"Okay, kid." Machamp's trainer said to Max. "I'm not going to go easy on you because of your age. Playtime's over. My Machamp is going to demolish that puny Ralts of yours. Do you know what demolish means?"
"Yes, I do." Max told him. "And not going easy on me because I'm a kid makes it even better. I want to be the best trainer like my friend, Ash is, and if you go easy on me, that won't help me at all. So for that, I thank you. So give it your all and we will too, but I will do it much better because it will be Ralts who will demolish your Machamp." Machamp's trainer grinned.
"I like the way you think, kid. Ok, Machamp, I want you to use Cross Chop on that Ralts." Machamp nodded and went towards Ralts for Cross Chop.
"Ralts, dodge it and lift Machamp in the air!" Ralts dodged Machamp's Cross Chop and used its powers to lift the fighting type off of the ground.
"Machamp, hang in there!" Its trainer shouted.
"Now Ralts, use Psybeam!" Ralts let Machamp go to use Psybeam. Machamp fell on its behind.
"Machamp, get up and dodge it!" Machamp got up, but the Psybeam hit. Machamp soared to the ground again. Max cheered.
"All right, Ralts! Way to go! It's a bummer that you couldn't hold Machamp in the air and have Psybeam hit at the same time, but having Psybeam hit makes up for it!" Ralts was excited too.
"Ralts, Ralts!" It said with joy. The Machamp trainer grinned again.
"Celebrating too early!" He said. "But I don't expect nothing less from a little kid. Machamp, Dynamic Punch!" Machamp launched Ralts into the air before it could react, Machamp punched it in the face. Ralts flew to the ground. Max was horrified.
"Ralts!" He cried. "Get up, Teleport, Double Team and Psychic, come on!" The Machamp trainer chuckled to himself as Ralts got up. The psychic Pokemon then teleported itself in front of Machamp. But before it could use Double Team, Machamp kicked it down with Low Kick. Max was shocked again.
"Ralts, get up and…."
"Machamp, Knock Off and another Dynamic Punch!: Machamp did those moves.
"RALTS, NOOOOOOO!" Max caught the psychic type as it soared backwards in his arms.
"Sorry, kid." Machamp's trainer said to him as Max tried not to cry. "I warned you that I wouldn't go easy on you. This is why you have to be older in order to become a trainer. You're inexperienced and it shows. You need to learn way, way, wayyyyyy more before you battle again otherwise you'll encounter the same humiliation that you endured with me again. Sorry to talk about the harsh realities of Pokemon battles, but it's the truth. I'm sure you'll learn someday." Suddenly, a confused Ursaring did a Hammer Arm on Machamp.
After Squishy and Suicine did their final moves on Alakazam and Steelix respectivly, they fainted, thus all of Team Nightmare's Pokemon were defeated. Everyone of the good guys cheered. Team Nightmare members were all shocked. All of the Legendaries that they stole, came out of their Pokeballs, attacked the bad guys and the bad guys and all of their Pokemon blasted off. The good guys cheered again.
"Bye, bye!" Meowth waved to them as they blasted off. "Wouldn't want to be you!" Goh waved to them as the bad guys blasted off as well.
"Yeah!" He called after them. "Byyyeeeeeee!" Mewtwo then appeared before them.
"The other Legendary Pokemon and I thank you all kind Pokemon and trainers from the bottom of our hearts." He spoke. "Because of you all, some of the Legendaries have been rescued and freed from evil clutches."
"We're happy to help." Gary said.
"Yeah!" Goh added. "We'll always try to help whenever there's a person or a Pokemon in need."
"I'm happy to hear that." Mewtwo said. "And may we all continue to help those in need." He looked at Jirachi.
"Jirachi, I assume you'll go back once you settle things here." Jirachi nodded.
"I will." He replied. Mewtwo looked at all of the trainers again.
"I bid you all farewell now." He and the other Legendaries went off, except Squishy and Suicine.
"I have to go now too." Squishy told Bonnie.
"I understand." Bonnie said even though she secretly wished that Squishy would stay longer. Bonnie and Dedenne both waved to Squishy as he left. Goh did the same to his Suicine.
"Max, you okay?" Jirachi asked when he saw him sniff back tears. Gary and Goh returned their Pokemon to their Pokeballs and looked at him too.
"I'm sorry, Ralts." Max wept. "I failed you. I have a lot to learn about Pokemon battles and it showed. I'm such a loser."
"Don't say that." Gary said to him. "So what if you lost? That's how you improve, by losing a few battles here and there. You're still young, not even ten yet. You still have a long road ahead of you."
"Yeah!" Bonnie put in. "We both do! We are both underage, yet we are still having Pokemon battles and learning. Just imagine how we'll battle once we are ten!"
"I know how losing can be." Goh put in. "It's no fun. That's why I prefer catching Pokemon instead of battling. But that can have negative effects farther down the road if you do it all of the time. So you shouldn't take the easy road all of the time. You have to take risks, because sometimes you just might surprise yourself. You need to get out of your comfort zone. I'm sorry if I sent you the wrong message. I'll try to remember that and you try to remember it too, deal?" Max looked up at him and smiled.
"Deal!" He agreed. He stood back up on his feet. "I'm sorry I tried to change you, Goh. I'm sorry. You just stay the same, never change. Just be yourself and keep doing what you think is best for you and your Pokemon. You're an awesome trainer, just like Ash." This time, Goh smiled.
"You're right. We're both pretty awesome in our own ways, aren't we? And I know you and Bonnie will be too, You both have great role models to look up too after all!" Both Bonnie and Max agreed. Goh then realized something. He looked at Gary.
"We both saw Mew and let it slip away from our fingers." Gary nodded.
"We sure did." He agreed. "But I say it's okay. Maybe later once we both get stronger and think we still need it." Goh agreed.
"Ok, let's do that then, Gary."
"But I hate to say that you might need to try harder and practice a lot more than me."
And here we go again. He was about to get mad, but just nodded instead. "Ok, Gary, maybe I will. I might even get stronger than you are."
"I don't know about that, but I like your enthusiasm."
"I have to go now, Max." Jirachi told him. "I'm sorry." Max looked at him.
"I know you do, Jirachi." He said. Next. he looked at Ralts. "And I know you have to go too, Ralts. I'll miss you both, but I know both of you will be with me wherever I go. And I can't wait until I'm ten so you can still be my first partner, Ralts. Remember I promised you that. You still want me to be your trainer when I come of age, right?" Ralts smiled.
"Ralts!" The psychic Pokemon replied with a nod. This time, Max smiled.
"Of course you do! That was a silly question." He hugged Ralts. "So, Ralts, on my tenth birthday, I'll come back for you. I promise." Ralts then teleported away. Max felt the Pokemon vanish from his arms.
"Max." Jirachi said to him. "Why don't you show your friends the song you and your friends sang for me last time?"
"Song?" Bonnie questioned.
"Yeah, Max." Goh put in. "What is Jirachi talking about?"
"I'll show you." Max said. "While I sing, you guys can jump in and sing with me. It's very, super easy to follow." He took a deep breath and started singing the lullaby. "Do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do…" When Max sang a bit longer, his friends got it, and all sang along. "Do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do…."
This is my chance! Meowth thought with a mischievous grin. While the twirps all sing the same word over and over again, I'll snatch up Jirachi and get out of there! No one will be the wiser! He then thought better of it when he realized that he was outnumbered. Even if he got away with Jirachi, the psychic mystical/steel Pokemon will just blast him off anywhere. Jessie and James will hate me for this, but I'm sure they'll understand, right? And who knows? Maybe they have a better chance than me! I didn't even catch the other Legendaries or Team Nightmare's Pokemon! Oh well! With that, he resumed singing with the group.
"Aw, sweet memories!" Jirachi said while everyone was still singing. "It feels like it's been 18 long years since I heard it last. Goodbye everyone and thank you!" With that, Jirachi went back into his crystal and the crystal dissolved into the ground. Everyone stopped singing.
"That's it?" Bonnie wanted to know. "Where did Jirachi go? Where did the crystal go?"
"Didn't you see?" Max asked. "Back into the Earth. Jirachi went back to sleep."
"And that was the song?" Gary also wanted to know. "Just 'do' over and over again?"
"Yep!" Max stated. "I told you it was super easy."
"No kidding!" Meowth put in.
"Let's go back to see if we can find Ash and the others." Goh said to everyone. "They might need our help." Everyone agreed. He picked up Sprigatito. "And maybe while we're at it, we can find a Pokemon Center for our friend, Sprigatito." Sprigtito agreed.
"I'll go too." Gary offered, Goh looked at him. Of course! He wanted to argue, but thought it would be best not to, so didn't.
"Okay, let's go everyone!" And with that, they all ran off.
