The day had finally arrived, it was time for Izuku and his friends to take on the UA Entrance Exam.
Izuku watched Himiko skip into the school, walking at a much slower pace than her so he could take in the view of UA. He thought about the people who helped him get to this point.
"You doing okay, Izu?" Haruko asked with a spring in her step.
"Yeah, I'm just grateful that we've had each other's backs up until now." Izuku smiled.
"Indeed. If it weren't for meeting you, I wouldn't have been able to experience all the joys you've exposed me to." Kurai said, her synthetic lips twitching upward in a tiny ghost of a smile.
"If it hadn't been for you, I wouldn't have the confidence to forge my path as a Hero," Haruko added.
"You've touched our lives in so many different ways, Izu-Chan. You've already proven yourself a Hero a hundred times over." Akito beamed.
Izuku couldn't help but blush at the words of his friends as Chie leaned into him, a cat-like smile on her face.
"What are you gonna do next, lover boy? Steal our hearts?"
That caused Izuku to blush even harder as he waved his hands and struggled to find the right words to say, only to slip over his own feet and fall backward. Bracing himself for impact, Izuku suddenly noticed he was floating just inches off the ground.
"Are you okay? That looked like it would have been a nasty fall."
A new girl's voice came to Izuku's ears as he was helped to his feet to see a girl with chestnut brown hair in a bob, rosy pink cheeks, and pink pads on her fingertips.
"Sorry that I used my Quirk on you, but it would probably be bad luck to trip before the exam."
"Um...N-No problem..." Izuku bashfully said, getting up to his feet as he rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.
"Well, see ya later!"
The girl left, Izuku awkwardly waving her goodbye before regaining his senses as he noticed his sister and friends were already ahead of him and made to follow after them.
Izuku, Himiko, and their four friends managed to find seats in the exam halls, where the proctor was none other than the Voice Hero: Present Mic.
"Oh my gosh, it's Present Mic! I tune into his radio show every Sunday!" Izuku began geeking out.
"Easy, sport." Chie giggled, patting the verdant-haired lad on the shoulder.
"WHAT'S UP, LITTLE LISTENERS, HOW ARE Y'ALL DOING?! CAN I GET A 'HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY'?!"
"HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY!" Himiko, Chie, and Akito all cheered as they stood up from their seats, being the only ones to do so.
"I LIKE YOU, KIDS!" Present Mic beamed, giving the three a thumbs-up before continuing. "ALRIGHT, LET'S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS! YOU'LL BE FACING A SERIES OF ENEMY ROBOTS WORTH A CERTAIN NUMBER OF POINTS DEPENDING ON TYPE! DON'T TRY ANY FRIENDLY FIRE ON ANYTHING ELSE OR YOU'LL BE DISQUALIFIED!"
"Oooh, Bakugou won't like that," Haruko smirked before a tall teen with glasses, broad shoulders, and navy blue hair stood up.
"Excuse me, sir! I have a question!"
"HIT ME!"
"You've shown three enemy robots to fight against in the exam but the printed handout clearly shows FOUR different types! Surely UA wouldn't be so foolish as to make an error such as this!" The teen then pointed at Izuku. "And you there with the messy unkempt hair!"
"M-Me?"
"Please refrain from muttering, you are distracting the other examinees! If you are not going to take this seriously then you should leave now!"
Chie clicked her tongue in anger and disgust as she stood up from her seat. Izuku gulped nervously, when Chie got like this, she was DANGEROUS.
"Actually, I think you're being more distracting than him. I mean, most people didn't really notice his muttering until you pointed it out, which was really rude by the way." Chie scowled. "Meanwhile, you just decided to start lecturing our exam proctor without letting him finish what he was saying, which was also pretty rude. Also, how do you know he's not taking this seriously? Maybe muttering helps him focus, which means that you were disrupting him by interrupting it. Also, if a little muttering is enough to distract someone, are they really fit to be a Hero?"
Chie's red eyes seemed to glow ominously as she said this, her words flooring the teen as his mouth gaped open and closed.
"I-well-"
"Honestly, out of everyone here, I think YOU are the one taking this the least seriously if you have time to put your nose in other people's business where it doesn't belong." Chie then turned to everybody else, her face becoming sweet and innocent. "Sorry for all that, please continue Mr. Present Mic."
"Damn, this girl has got fire in her." Present Mic whistled in respect. "ALRIGHT! AS THE LITTLE LISTENERS POINTED OUT, THERE IS A FOURTH ROBOT BUT IT'S MOSTLY JUST A STAGE HAZARD LIKE YOU FIND IN SMASH BROS! YOU CAN TAKE IT DOWN BUT IT WON'T ADD TO YOUR SCORE UNLESS YOU GOT THE GUTS TO SHOW HOW TOUGH YOU ARE!"
Izuku and his friends looked at their exam cards. Izuku got Exam Site E, Himiko got A, Haruko got B, Chie got C, Akito got D, and both Kurai and Himiko got F.
"Alright, wish each other luck?" Himiko smiled as everyone nodded before making their way to their starting zones.
Izuku was standing around and waiting for the exam to begin when he noticed the rosy-cheeked girl who had saved him from falling. Realizing he never got to thank her for helping him, he made his way over only to feel a hand on his shoulder...which he smacked off and ignored in favor of thanking the one who helped him out.
It had been the blue-haired teen with glasses, who initially believed Izuku was going to distract the girl or something but then saw Izuku approaching her with friendly intent in his eyes and backed off afterward.
"Hey, are you okay?"
The girl noticed Izuku and smiled. "Oh yeah! I'm just kinda nervous..."
"Hey, it's okay. I'm a little nervous too. But I think you'll do okay."
"Really? Tha-"
The girl couldn't finish as the gates suddenly swung open.
"EVERYONE READY?! GO! MOVE IT OR LOSE IT, ZYGOTES! HEROES DON'T WAIT FOR COUNTDOWNS IN REAL LIFE!"
Hearing Present Mic's words, Izuku immediately took off, giving a quick "Good Luck!" to Ochako before doing so. The rest of the examinees were floored by his speed before regaining their bearings and following his example.
As Izuku ran ahead, he quickly boosted himself into the air with the [Float-Float Fruit], finding a vantage point to perch onto before switching to the [Glint-Glint Fruit] and firing bolts of light from his fingers like pistols, blowing up the robots they hit.
Looking down, he saw the rosy-cheeked girl touching two robots, causing them to float into the air as if they were in zero gravity before she pressed her fingers together and made them drop, smashing them to bits.
"So she can put whatever she touches in zero gravity? Cool!" Izuku thought as he continued sniping robots in his sights.
Haruko had already encountered her first target; a 1-Pointer Robot. As she dodged the first attack, she noticed a switch on the robot's back.
"So they make sure the robots can be disabled even if an examinee doesn't have a Quirk capable of outright demolishing them. Good to know!" She then flipped in mid-air. "Time to put OFA to good use!"
Raising her leg up high, she brought her heel down on the robot's head with all the power she could safely channel.
"MANCHESTER SMASH!"
As Haruko got up from the wrecked remains of the robot, another came up behind her, only for it to be blasted apart by a blonde young man with an effeminate face, a sparkling laser blasting out of a belt he was wearing.
"Whoa! Thanks!" Haruko said, giving a shaky thumbs-up only to notice a 3-Pointer Robot about to attack the boy. Acting quickly, she tackled him out of the way.
"Merci, we make a great team, you and I~." The boy said, a slight French accent to his words.
"Excuse Moi for a moment, Monseiur!" Haruko giggled as she got up and turned to the 3-Pointer before rearing her fist back.
"TEXAS SMASH!"
Firing a condensed shockwave from her fist, Haruko wrecked the robot as the boy looked absolutely floored by her strength before grinning, his face somehow emitting dazzling sparkles.
"Well, this will be quite exquise~!"
Chie was stretching her arms up as she walked through the exam zone. So far, she had racked up 20 points and felt pretty good right now before she noticed several robots surrounding her.
"All these for little ol' me~? You shouldn't have!"
Electromagnetic waves flowed around her as searing heat seemed to emit from her horns. Her sharp teeth were bared in a feral grin as she let out a laugh.
A few examinees a little farther away would soon notice a massive explosion nearby, the smoldering chunks of the poor unfortunate robots that tried surrounding Chie Saraka falling from the sky.
"Rain, rain, make it rain! Give us thunder and give us rain!" Akito chanted, waving a gohei stick around as aqua blue elemental energy spun around it before storm clouds formed above her, sending out torrents of rain and bolts of lightning that struck the robots approaching her, reducing them to charred piles of scrap.
"Holy crap, that's not so much a Quirk as it is frickin' MAGIC!" An examinee exclaimed after seeing Akito's feat of power.
"Eh-hehehe~." The Shrine Maiden giggled, sticking her tongue out. "It's a family trick."
Himiko had checked and rechecked her vials and had cleaned her trick knives multiple times to make sure they were at their best for the exam. She had transformed into Akito and sent out lightning bolts before turning into Hisashi and using her increased strength to smash through the robots with her bare hands. When she transformed back, she switched to her knives.
"Himiko, are you alright?" Kurai asked as her arm opened up to reveal a blade protruding from it that was vibrating at a high frequency, allowing her to slice through the robots like butter.
"Never better! Now hold on, I'm gonna turn into Mama!" Himiko then transformed into Inko and yelled as she pushed herself to attract all the robots together. "Kurai, think you can take 'em all down?!"
"Affirmative!"
Kurai held out her other arm, which folded open to reveal an electromagnetic cannon. Firing a bolt of concentrated energy, the pile of gathered robots exploded in a fiery inferno as the android girl and Himiko high-fived.
Meanwhile, the teachers were watching the students in the various battle zones on a large bank of monitors. UA's acting principal, Nedzu, hummed as he put his paws together in interest.
"They don't know how many villains there are or where they are, so they use everything they have at their disposal to find targets. Some use overwhelming power, others use intelligence gathering, and still others unbridled speed. Some simply remain cool under pressure as they search. The best use a combination of all of these."
"But of course!" Said Kamikaze Bushida also known as the Ronin Hero: Atomic Samurai. He was a member of the S-Rankers, a group of Pro Heroes who were basically Top 10 Pro Hero material in their own right. "Fighting Villains is only half the exam. We didn't tell the students about the other half. After all... Their actions in that regard must be genuine. Fortunately, we do have a few promising students in that regard as well.
"My little brother and sister are down there." Tatsumaki smiled, having recently become a member of the S-Rankers herself after graduating from UA. "And their friends aren't too shabby either."
"However, the real test is yet to come..." Nedzu said with a glint in his eyes as he slapped his paw over a big red button.
"Well, that should do it!" Izuku smiled as he finished destroying a robot with a fist covered in [Armament Haki]. "Let's see...I think I have...70 points or something."
Suddenly, the ground began rumbling. As Izuku steadied himself and looked around for the source, a large shadow cast overhead and that's when he saw it.
The 0-Pointer.
"HOLY CRAP, THAT'S THE 0-POINTER?!"
Deciding to avoid the metal behemoth's path, Izuku prepared to duck into an alleyway before a familiar voice cried out.
"Help!"
Izuku's head snapped around and saw the rosy-cheeked girl pinned under rubble and directly in the 0-Pointer's direct path. At that moment, time seemed to slow down as Izuku held out his hands and then gripped down the air as if grabbing a sheet.
"SHIMA..." Izuku began, channeling the power of the [Tremor-Tremor Fruit]. "...YURASHI!"
From an outsider's perspective, the whole world seemed to briefly flip upside-down as the entire exam zone tilted, buildings collapsed on top of the 0-Pointer, pinning it down and crushing it into the pavement as Izuku rushed to the rosy-cheeked girl, picked her up and got the heck out of dodge.
"Holy crap! He just annihilated the 0-Pointer! So manly!" A boy with shark-like teeth and black hair said in excitement, having witnessed everything from afar while he was evacuating his fellow examinees.
Haruko noticed her own 0-Pointer upon being alerted by sudden explosions.
"Holy crap, it's the 0-Pointer!" The Successor of All-Might gasped. "How come nobody told me it was gonna be so huge!"
The 0-Pointer's attacks were already causing the students to scatter, and those that got trapped were helped by a few others. Looking around, Haruko steeled herself and pushed OFA harder than she had before and leaped high into the air, rearing her fist back.
"DETROIT SMASH!"
With a mighty punch, Haruko caved in the 0-Pointer's face, making it fall backward in a heap. However, Haruko realized she had miscalculated how much power she put into the punch and began falling uncontrollably.
"Ah crap! Is this the end?! I never even got my first kiss!"
Suddenly, Haruko felt her descent stop and looked down to find a flock of birds had somehow flown in and gathered together to catch her, gently placing her on the ground as she shakily got to her feet and noticed a shy-looking boy with a rock-shaped head and jagged mouth.
"T-Thanks!" Haruko smiled, giving the boy a thumbs-up which he returned shakily.
"Oh, they think this is scary?" Chie smirked as she saw her 0-Pointer. "Believe me...I've seen worse."
Floating high into the air, Chie held out her hands as clouds began to gather together, turning black as her eyes seemed to emit red flames before she let out a yell of fury, sending out a single bolt of thunder that struck the 0-Pointer. In a flash of light, the examinees watched as all that was left of the metal giant was its tank tread-like bottom half.
Chie floated down and let out a shuddering breath, clearly having put more power than she had intended to. She almost fainted before being caught by a boy with short black hair.
"Whoa, are you okay?" The boy asked before gasping when he saw Chie's face. "No way...C-Chie?"
Chie's vision was blurry and she could barely make out the boy who caught her, but she still managed to let out one word before she fell unconscious.
"S-Sen...?"
Akito gulped as she saw the 0-Pointer approaching her. Several examinees were taking cover, pulling some of the stragglers to safety in the process but Akito remained rooted in place, watching as the metal behemoth got closer and closer.
"Do not fear, remember your training, know that the ancestors are with you..."
Hearing the words her grandfather imparted to her earlier today, Akito closed her eyes and took a deep breath as she held a magatama to her chest, which began glowing brightly.
"May fire burn eternally, may water flow everlasting, may winds blow peacefully, and may earth remain unmoving...I channel the ancient power...YIN!"
Thrusting out her magatama while holding it in a special hand sign, Akito released a massive burst of elemental energy that was a mix of fire, water, earth, and air. The beam hit the o-Pointer and tore through it. When the beam subsided, a gaping burning hole remained as the metal monstrosity powered down, its interiors damaged beyond repair.
"Whoa! That was some freaky Naruto shit right there!" Called out a boy with yellow blonde hair with a black lightning bolt fringe.
Akito breathed deeply to steady herself and relaxed her shoulders, keeping her magatama close to her chest as she did so.
"I did it, Grandpa..."
"Himiko, can you carry me to the top of that 0-Pointer?" Kurai asked after the 0-Pointer in her and Himiko's zone showed up.
"Yeah! I still got some of Daddy's blood in me!"
Himiko turned into Hisashi again and flew Kurai up to the top of the 0-Pointer. After dropping her off, Kurai released a strange liquid metal from her palm, which was actually nanomachines that began eating away at the 0-Pointer's workings, slowly consuming and absorbing it as Kurai was lowered down in the process before jumping off, the nanobots absorbed and integrated everything into her systems.
"Hmmph...such primitive technology. Father's own creations vastly outweigh these tinker toys."
"Those kids sure got what it takes." Atomic Samurai chuckled as watched Izuku and his friends take down the 0-Pointers in their zones.
"The 0-Pointer may not give any points to the Villain Score, but that doesn't necessarily mean it shouldn't be fought, contrary to what the proctors say to the examinees. For that mighty beast can provide opportunity. A chance for young up-and-comers to show what they're really made of." All-Might smiled, having also been watching.
Izuku, after putting as much distance between the destruction he caused and him as possible, set the rosy-cheeked girl down gently.
"Are you okay?"
"Y-Yeah...y-you saved me."
Izuku smiled. "Hey, I guess we're even, huh?"
"Nice work, everyone. Anyone who has any injuries, I'll be sure to get to each of you." A short old lady said as she came in, carrying a syringe-shaped cane.
"Holy cow, is that the Youthful Heroine: Recovery Girl?!" Izuku gasped, his fanboy side showing as the old lady checked over Ochako.
"I'll need to take a good look at that leg, missy. Seems you've got a sprained ankle there."
Recovery Girl kissed Ochako's leg, sending green energy through it with her Quirk, [Heal]. Ochako felt cured but also slightly tired as well. Seeing as Ochako was in good hands, Izuku went to regroup with his friends.
A week later, Izuku and his friends received their exam results, which were for some reason in one package addressed to all of them at once. To their surprise, it contained a holographic projector.
"BOOYAH! I AM HERE!" All-Might said, appearing on the projector. "YOUNG MIDORIYA AND COMPANY! I AM PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT ALL OF YOU MANAGED TO MAKE IT INTO UA'S HERO COURSE WITH STELLAR SCORES! TAKE A GOOD LOOK!"
The six saw they were all in the Top 10 of scores but were shocked to see they had more points than they were expecting as there was a special addition involved.
"YES, YOU DIDN'T THINK THE EXAM WAS ALL ABOUT SMASHING ROBOTS, DID YOU? YOU ALSO GOT POINTS FOR RESCUE AS WELL! AFTER ALL, WE NEEDED TO KEEP IT A SECRET, OR ELSE HOW WOULD WE KNOW IF IT WAS GENUINE?"
"Holy cow, we did all that?" Haruko gasped in awe.
"YOU ALL NOT ONLY ACTED SELFLESSLY TO SAVE OTHERS, BUT YOU INSPIRED YOUR FELLOW EXAMINEES AS WELL! THE FACULTY WAS PRACTICALLY BEGGING FOR YOU ALL TO BE STUDENTS HERE! SO WELCOME, THIS IS YOUR HERO ACADEMIA!"
The recording soon cut off as Izuku, Himiko, Haruko, Chie, Akito, and Kurai processed everything...before Himiko let out a loud cheer, followed by Chie and Haruko hugging and jumping up and down while Izuku pumped his fist into the air.
"WE DID IT!"
Kurai just smiled. "Of course, my probability scanners showed a 100% chance of us passing based on our scores."
Inko, Hisashi, Tatsumaki, Fubuki, and Eve were watching from outside Izuku's room, smiling proudly at their family and their friend's achievement.
Just saw Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, so I was inspired to write a chapter today.
Next Time: Izuku and the gang have their first day at UA!
