Lightning awoke with the worst headache he had ahead in a long time. He sat up and rubbed his head. He felt awful! He looked around. Where was he? A house? Dark wooden floors, a nice bed, dressers, tv, white area rug, white bedding, to the left was nothing but a HUGE window as an entire wall looking over woodland like areas. Lighting tossed the covers off him and slid his feet to the floor. He was in nothing expect boxers. He ribbed his eyes. "Sal?..." He groaned a little loudly. Trying to call her in. He stood up and rubbed his head. He felt sick! What happened? Sally walked in and greeted, "Good evening, Lightning McQueen." Lightning turned around and stared. "Are we? Is this a... Our home?" He asked in confusion. Sally walked up and giggled answering, "Yep. You passed out shortly after we got home." She kissed his cheek before adding, "Not before some seriously hardcore sex." Lightning blushed instantly and asked, "Really?" Sally nodded. "Twice." She announced.

Lightning smiled awkwardly. He did not remember any of that! Fuck he wished he did. "I think... I'm gonna grab some medicine and hot the shower..." Sally nodded and pointed the direction to the bathroom sense he was obviously a little lost here. Lightning shut the door behind him and sighed. Twice? All he could worry about was what if he had came in her again. He did not want this baby, but... He did say when they were on this trip. He frowned. Guess they were officially trying...

So day in and day out. The lectures began. They were rather pointless in Lightning's eyes. He didn't know how to give lectures. So it was mostly him telling about things he learned as a young racer between college and Doc Hudson. A few times some of the students asked really good questions, but for the most part, it was stupid things lie, "How do you win the cup?" "What does it take to get as many girls as you?" "How often do you go to the gym.." Stupid things. Lightning would go home and every other night, Sally was pushing for sex. Not just sex. A baby. Making him cum inside her or almost do so. He was getting exhausted and agitated more and more by the weeks! One month had passed and it was not long before he'd have to return back to Radiator Springs where he would be racing again. He hadn't even trained at all! He had been so busy between the lectures, Sally and then odd little parties or meetings that usually left him drunk and tired. O'Reilly was really trying to push Lightning to completely join his team, but Lightning knew better than that! Everything was just getting more and more exhausting and Lightning was frustrated that he hadn't even got a moment to train yet. His problems seemed to be getting worse and worse until a call came...

Sally and Lightning drove out to the hospital. Not far from the school actually. Cal and Meg. There baby was born. Early. But they had to see their friends in this time. Cal, Meg, Strip, and Linda were having a really rough time with this one. Sally and Lightning quietly made their way to the room. The nurse that guided them pointed saying, "This is it. Just knock before entering please.." Then she walked away. Sally and Lightning glanced at each other. Sally taking a deep breath before knocking on the door. The door slowly creeped open slightly and Linda looked out. She opened the door the rest of the way seeing the couple and let them in. Sally first, Lightning following. They walked I to see Meg laying in bed. She looked... Tired and... Not all there. "Meg?..." Sally cooed. Megan didn't move at all. Didn't even look at Sally. Strip sighed saying, "She doesn't feel like talking right now, okay?" Sally nodded. Lightning then noticed. Where was Cal? Linda placed a hand on the racer and explained, "Cal is in the garden." Lightning nodded then told Sally he was going to see Cal. Meg stopped him and asked, "Are you going to see Cal?" In a low tone and groggy way. Lightning stopped and stared at her answering, ".. Yea.." Meg looked at Lightning then asked, "Could you tell that coward not to come back up until he wants to actually be a part of this and see the good?... I can't have his negativity staring at me in the face while I hold my baby anymore." Lightning wallowed nervously before answering softly, "...Sure.." Nope. Not saying that to Cal.

Lightning left the room and made his way to the garden to find Cal. And there he was. Sitting alone on a bench near some blossom trees. Lightning sighed and made his way over. Sitting next to his friend. Cal looked at Lightning and asked, "Did you see Meg?" Lightning nodded. Cal frowned and asked, "IS she okay?" Lightning shrugged. Cal sighed then stared at the ground. He was badly depressed over this. Lightning just sat with him for a while. A good thirty minutes or so. Just being there in case Cal needed to say anything. Cal looked at Lightning, put on a smile and asked, "How's the job?..." Lightning stared a moment before answering, "Honestly, I hate it. I'm exhausted and haven't even had time to train up for the coming season." Cal snickered, "So what I hear is I may have one up on the great Lightning McQueen, huh?" Lightning snickered replying, "Not on your life." Cal chuckled a little. Lightning knew he was just distracting his friend from the inner pain. That sucked. It fell quiet. What were they suppose to talk about? Couldn't talk about Lightning and Sally trying for a baby right now. Not in these conditions. So what? Racing was a short lived subject some how. Lightning was trying but running blank!

Cal cleared his throat and began, "So.. The baby is in bad shape. Had to have multiple surgeries already just to breathe... He's not going to make it, so I don't understand the point in naming him. Meg wants to pretend everything is fine but its not! I don't see the point in getting happy and acting like we are a happy little family when its a means to an end..." Lightning just listened. Besides, what would you say to that? Cal placed his face in the palms of his hands and whined, "I can't do this.. She hates me because I refuse to hurt more by playing pretend with her.." And beginning to cry after. Lighting placed a hand on Carl's back in a way of support. But still, what was he to say? Nothing could make this better. Nothing at all. All this did was make Lightning want a baby less and less. No way he would put Sally through this! "Cal.." Lightning muttered, "Meg loves you and.. She just needs you.. I understand what you mean.. How you don't want to hurt more, but.. I think... I think you two could be really happy and maybe.. I don't know? Maybe accepting this like it is and still trying to be a family will make it easier when.. When it.. Ends..." Cal looked up at Lightning with tears in his eyes.

Nodding a little and agreeing with "Maybe... But I can't.. Every time I look at that baby my heat brakes all over again.. I feel like I failed my wife. I tried giving her a baby and this is what happens..." "Wasn't it Meg's genes that... Never mind. You didn't fail her, Cal. Not by this accident that no one could have predicted. But"-"But that is just it! The doctors predicted this! They told us what was happening and if she would have just gotten an abortion than my son would not suffer and die! Then we could have been trying already and maybe have a healthy baby next! An actual family!" Cal shouted with anger. Lightning nodded. That was kind of true. "The media only makes it worse.." Cal admitted. Lightning didn't even think of them yet. But yeah, they usually did. "I'm sorry.." Lightning mumbled. Frowning and starting to feel Carl's pain. "I'm so sorry, Cal..." Cal nodded and cried again. But Lighting and Cal grew closer in this moment...

Sally and Lightning got into the suv. Silently both sitting there in the dark of the night inn the vehicle. No words. Both just trying to accept this event. Trying to make sense of this thing happening to the Weathers. Lightning sighed and looked at his wife. He had to ask this now matter what, "Sal.." He began, grabbing her attention. "If... If we found out that.. Our baby would have problems like this?.. Would we terminate or... Or still have him?" Sally stared at Lightning a moment. Thinking. Her silence was sharp. So quiet. Lightning added in with, "I would let you choose.. It is your body after all that all of this effects, but.. I'd like to know now so I know what I should.. Should do.. In case it happens. I want to know how to support you." Sally smiled a little. That was the most sweetest thing of Lightning. Sally sighed and leaned back in the seat. Thinking a moment more before answering, "I guess... I guess I would still carry the baby.. I would not want to terminate, Lightning. You know how I feel about that..." Lightning nodded and replied, "Okay. So.. If something should happen where our baby has any severe conditions that are.. Disabling or.. Fatal.. I'm here for it. I'll support and fight along with you, okay?" Sally reached over and took her husband's hand in hers. "Thank you.." She whispered so softly. Lightning smiled then turned on the vehicle and made their home...

The couple sat on the bed together. Watching the timer on Sally's phone. The pregnancy test sitting on a hand towel between them. A paper towel covering it so that the answer was hidden. "Now?" Lightning asked. Sally shook her head answering, "Almost." Watching the timer and then it suddenly beeped and Sally stopped it. The couple stared at each other then the stick covered. Lightning swallowed nervously. Both just staring. "Should we?..." Lightning began. Sally took a deep breath. She wanted this. She wanted it so badly! "Fingers crossed." She joked nervously. Lightning just faked a smile. No, not at all for him. He did not want one yet, but.. If it was positive, alright, he would be doing this for her. Sally removed the paper towel and both stared the results... Negative... Sally sighed with disappointment. Lightning rubbed her back with his hand in support. "Well.. It's only been a month." He reminded. Sally nodded and agreed. He was right. One month at their age was okay. Nothing to worry about yet. Sally put the stick on the side table then leaned over and kissed Lightning. "Means more sex." She said with a sexy smile. Lightning snickered with a little bit of a smile. He didn't mind that part at all!...

Another day, another lecture, another late night with O'Reilly. Honestly, Lightning was fine spending some nights out time to time. It got him away from making a baby with Sally now and then. Although, it wasn't working out yet. Nearly two months of trying and still nothing. It would be a lie to say Lightning wasn't concerned at all. Lightning made his way home. Stumbling into the house a little drunk. He closed the front door and walked to the kitchen where he forgot why he even went in there. "You are late, again." Sally's harsh voice announced from across the open floor plan. Lightning smiled and replied, "Yeah, well.. It was another late meeting wi-with.. The guys." "The guys? You mean O'Reilly?" Sally questioned as she crossed her arms. Lightning snickered as he leaned on the counter. "Don't worry about it." He said. "It's cool. Just having a good time and talking." "Right." Sally growled. She sighed and frowned before continuing, "Stickers, I don't think I like it here..." Approaching her stupid husband. Lightning stared at her asking, "Why is that?" "It's not... Home..." She mumbled.

Lightning scoffed, "Well duh. But it is a beautiful place. The least you could do is be grateful I brought you along. Sheesh." Sally fell furious! "Grateful!? Are you kidding me!? All you do is go to work at that school then party and get drunk!" "And occasionally make love to you. Aren't I giving you what you wanted?" He asked. Sally stared at Lightning. Not sure what to answer with. Technically, yes, he was, but... "Yes... But I didn't... I don't want it like this..." She admitted in a whimper. Lightning sighed and rolled his eyes before growling, "We can talk more tomorrow, I'm going to bed." Heading to the bedroom. Sally stood there alone. He just reminded her so much Ben.. Before she ran out on him...

Lightning opened his eyes t the sunlight through the window. He turned over to see Sally sitting up in bed. "Good morning." He greeted. Sally glanced at him, but didn't reply. Something was wrong. Lightning instantly sat up and asked, "What's wrong?" Sally stared at him a moment before answering, "I don't like it here. I want to go home." Lightning nodded with "Okay. Soon." "No!" Sally shouted as she got out of the bed. "Not soon, Lightning! I want to go home now." "But.. I'm working." "Yeah.. I'm not though." Sally muttered with a frown. Lightning raised a brow and asked, "You want a job? If that's it, I can talk to O'Reilly." "No, that's not it. I mean... I'm not working so I could go home... Without you.." LIghtning's eyes widened. Why would she want that? Lightning got out of the bed and walked over to meet his wife, taking her hands in his, "Sal, don't do that. That's crazy. Why would you want to go home now? After all, aren't we trying?" He reminded.

Sally nodded but pulled away before answering, "I know.. But.. I need to go home. I miss our friends, my work.. The house." "Enough to leave me alone?" "It's not like you need me here. You are always gone and I'm stuck here." "You're wrong, I need you here. You are the thing keeping me grounded." "From what? What does that even mean?" Sally asked rudely. Lightning shrugged continuing "I don't know. I don't want you to go though. Look, just a few more weeks and I'll be finished here." "Until next year. Plus, the racing season starts literally a week after you get back. You're not coming home." She reminded. Lightning shook his head and just couldn't understand. "You agreed to come with me." "And now I'm telling you I'm going back home." "I thought you were just talking about the idea?" Lightning questioned. Sally sighed and shook her head explaining, "No, I'm telling you. I've already made my decision. I'm returning to Radiator Springs. I just.. I need to be home." Lightning's brows lowered as he reminded, "You know that I can't go back with you, right?" Sally nodded. Honestly, Lightning was angry with her. He did not want her to go. "No, you need to stay." He growled. "You are my wife now and I say stay with me! Your husband!" "I'm sorry, Lightning but"-"No! I said no! You are needed and I want you here with me! I love coming home to you and once the season starts back up, I won't get that for almost a year because all you do is work! Please! Just stay with me a few more weeks!" He whined.

Sally sighed. Staring at her love with a frown before muttering, "No... I've made up my mind and I bought a ticket home already. I'm leaving in three days, Lightning." The she walked out of the bedroom. Lightning stood there in shock. A little heart broken really. He just wanted to be with his wife and now she was leaving for really no reason that he could understand. He was giving her the baby thing, so why was that enough now?...

Next day, the couple began fighting again once Lightning got home. Lightning would start it up with, "What can I do to get you to stay?" "Lightning..." Sally whined. Lightning hit the table and snapped, "NO! Tell me! I don't understand! I thought I was doing what you wanted! If I could just get up and walk out of here with you, I would! But tell me! Is it the baby thing?" He asked. Sally shook her head and whined, "No, I just want to be home. The motels need me.." "The motels? Really? That's why you are leaving me? For motels?!" Oh that only pissed Lightning off more! Sally rolled her eyes and added, "I'm home sick!" "No! No, that's a lie! Because you told me that home is where I am! That's what you told me!" "Drop it, Lightning... I'm going to go home." Sally snarled then left the room and slammed a door behind her. Lightning sighed. He just wanted his wife with him. Why was that to much to ask?...

Lightning had a hard time sleeping. He looked ver to see Sally fast asleep. He sighed. Gazing at her beauty. Why wouldn't she stay? Was she really this homesick? Lightning tried to think what maybe that felt like. He was always gone.. So much so that he just didn't have time to think about being home sick anymore. Was he gone to often? He wondered. He stared to his left out the windows. The night was beautiful. The stars were amazing looking. No use in trying to convince her to stay. Sally was going home and he would be alone for the last few weeks. Great. Lightning rolled back over and scooted closer to his wife. Wrapping an arm around her waistline and snuggling for the remainder of the night...

Lightning finished another lecture and began leaving the room. But the students could tell that their scholar was really down today. One young woman ran up and followed Lightning asking, "Hey, what's up? Seems like you're a little slow today." Lightning stopped and smiled before assuring the young student, "Me? Not at all. Just a late night and.. A little tired." "Oh.. Okay, well.. Get some sleep tonight, Mr. McQueen! I love your lectures when you get all excited talking about racing." "Yeah.. For sure." Lightning replied and waved goodbye to the student as the girl left. Lightning let out a sigh. She was right. He was down actually. Sally was leaving tomorrow. It sucked. Nothing he could say would make her stay and he hated that. The little time they had together was coming to an end early and he just couldn't grasp why.

"Lightning!" O'Reilly called, grabbing the racer's attention. He walked over and asked, "How about another night on me tonight? I want to see what you think of an expansion plan I have." Lightning frowned answering, "Thanks, but no thanks, Sir... I think I'm going to head home early tonight." "Everything okay?" "Yeah, just.. Um.. Sally has to go back home tomorrow. She doesn't plan on coming back so that kind of sucks, you know?" O'Reilly's eyes widened! Sally was leaving and going home? "So soon?" He asked. Lightning nodded. "Well.. Okay, I guess I can understand that. You two enjoy yourselves tonight and I'll see you tomorrow night, alright?" "For sure." "Alright, see you later, McQueen." O'Reilly replied before taking off. Lightning sighed and headed home as planned. To spend what little time he had left with Sally for the day and night...

As she said, Sally left the next morning. Lightning drove her to the airport and kissed her goodbye. Watched her leave no hated this feeling in his chest. Hurting. He hated hurting. And now he was alone. Lighting got back to the suv and sat there in the quiet alone. Glancing at the passenger seat. Did he do something wrong? Should he have tried leaving and just ditching his work? hat would not look good for his image but.. Should he have? Was Sally maybe actually pregnant? Wa this an emotional decision? He just couldn't understand why she had to leave. The motels was not a real reason. She chose them over him? That didn't make sense and didn't sound like Sally to him. Something more had to be going on. The fights they were having in the last week she was here. Was he putting work to much in front of Sally? Maybe. But she would have made it clear that that was the problem if that was indeed why she wanted to go home. That couldn't have been it. Whatever the reason, she was gone now and that was that...

O'Reilly was typing away on his computer. Writing emails and doing his daily duties as the company's owner. 'Knock, knock.' "Come on in." He answered. The door opened and his daughter walked in. "Tiffany, good. Close the door, baby." He ordered. Tiffany did so then walked up and sat down across from her Father as she asked, "What did you want to see me about?" O'Reilly leaned back in his large chair and announced, "Sally is leaving today." "Okay." "Lightning will be alone and he seemed pretty upset about it yesterday." "Okay?" Tiffany shrugged. "Why should I care?"She asked. O'Reilly sighed and stood up, pacing as he spoke, "Well, I thought you could spend more time with Lightning and get to know him.. More..." "I think I got to know him pretty well, Dad." Tiffany scoffed. O'Reilly glared and continued, "So I have tried everything to get Lightning on board with racing for team O'Reilly and nothing is seeming to work." "Well he's faithfully dedicated to Rusteze." Tiffany reminded.

O'Reilly nodded and stopped at his desk, leaning forward he explained, "I think that Lightning would be a great asset to the O'Reilly family, don't you?" Tiffany raised a brow and asked, "What do you mean?" "Well.." He began, "Lightning in the family would bring more income and more fame to us. I'm not just talking about the team, Tiffany. I am talking about getting Lightning to be permanently part of the family." Tiffany was unsure what her Father meant but started to catch on. "I'm not going to be able to make him fall in love with me if that's what you are getting at. Even last year, he may have been a little easy to get to loosen up a little, but he still made it clear that there was a line. He is happy with Sally. I'm not going to be able to ruin that and I'm not sure I want to." "And why not?" "Excuse me?" "Why not? Don't pretend you are so innocent, Tiffany. I know you sleep around, remember? Why not make it worth everyone's while and get him to sleep with you?" "First off, ew. Second, because what would that even accomplish?"

O'Reilly sighed and rubbed his eyes before continuing, "Look... Just.. Wouldn't it be something to be Mrs. McQueen? Think of your social status if that were you? The opportunities that would open up, Tiffany?" "For you. Isn't that what you mean?" She questioned with a glare. O'Reilly had enough! "I am telling you what you will do! I don't care how you do it, but get that man to marry you! I want him to be stuck in the family! You've always been a little whore and now you can make it worth my while!" "Dad... I.. No! This is wrong! I won't do it!" Tiffany shouted. O'Reilly only yelled back with, "I know you and Lightning fucked around before, Tiff! SO don't act like its difficult! What's the difference!?" "I.. I wasn't doing it for you then!" O'Reilly grabbed Tiffany buy under her chin and warned, "Do it or I will disinherit you from this very comfortable life you have! I will toss you out and never speak to you again! Understand!?" He let her go and opened a drawer. Grabbed out a condom and a needle, poking a few holes through it then handing it to Tiffany. "There. And if by chance it doesn't work, you can get him drunk rather easily and get him to knock you up. If all else fails, just fake it. He seems like an upstanding guy enough that he'll leave Sally for you if you are knocked up." Tiffany's eyes filled with tears. This was wrong but.. She'd lose everything if she didn't do this.. She ran out crying. O'Reilly sat down and sighed. He was disgusted wit himself but his daughter was useless in every way except for luring and convincing men to give her what she wanted...
