Chapter 25

That same day on Friday, a day after the trial, Lucius Malfoy was enjoying his morning breakfast on his balcony next to his beautiful wife, Narcissa, and telling her about her cousin's trial, and how much Harriet Potter resembled her grandmother. As Lucius was entertaining her with the exact words of Lady Potter to make Narcissa giggle in exasperation, their falcon owl came swooping in to deliver news from their only son, Draco.

Narcissa was elated to have news of Draco so soon.

Lucius gave her a small smile when he noticed that his usually composed wife was barely able to maintain decorum and practically demanding to see the letter with her stare. Lucius opened the letter from Draco and read it out loud for the both of them.

Dear Father,

Harriet Potter has offended our family line! She cannot get away with this, she dared to say that our family gets involved in relationships with half-bloods! How dare she! After the hospitality that our family has shown her, this is how she repays us! Not only did she say that, but she also said in front of the entre Slytherin house (yeah, she made it to Slytherin, the hat didn't even touch her hair, it just hovered her hair and put her into Slytherin!)

The portrait of Abraxas Malfoy woke up when he heard himself mention in a letter and he paid closer attention to what was being said.

that my grandfather would consort with Half-bloods and that you and I are lacking!

Lady Potter said this for all to hear! Father, we must retaliate and show her the influence the Malfoy family has!

Draco Malfoy,

Heir to the Noble and Most Ancient House of Malfoy.

Heir to the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black.

Narcissa looked conflicted, she had high hopes for the girl. Lucius had hoped that he could influence the girl, but it seems that she was already prejudiced against the Malfoys without proof.

As Abraxas was about to comment on Lady Potter who he thought was a possible daughter of Charles Potter or a bastard child of Dorea pretending to be a Potter, just then, a snowy owl came sweeping in and dropped a letter into the plate of Lucius Malfoy. Hedwig received dirty looks from the falcon owl, but she ignored his glare and stare intently at Lucius for him to open the letter of her dear Harri.

Dear Lord and Lady Malfoy,

I want to address the letter Draco had just sent. Parkinson was slandering me in front of my year mates. Anyone else in Slytherin house can tell you what I really said about your family and your Dear Late father. As I said;

'The men in the Malfoy family are beautiful'

'But it doesn't compare to the masculine, devastatingly handsomeness of Abraxas Malfoy where his beauty is bountiful'

Lucius stopped reading immediately to the astonishment of both his wife and his father's portrait.

"Come on Lucy boy, don't keep me waiting!" Abraxas Malfoy demanded, delighted to be receiving a love letter even after his death, and have his appearance recognized and be admired by younger women. Narcissa gave Lucius a smug small smile. After all, its not every day that someone prefers his older man over himself. Lucius grated his teeth at being called a boy and being called 'Lucy'.

'Draco and Lord Lucius have a French beauty'

'But it doesn't compare to his diligent roman Duty'

"Such a smart woman. She is correct of course." Abraxas prattled off.

'The beauty of both men'

'Is nothing to his sturdiness and ruggedness that will be my end'

"Such is my prowess with women, I'm afraid." Abraxas said, not at all afraid, and still gloating over being preferred over his son and grandson that had gotten the French beauty of his wife.

'I might be a half-blood, but I hope I can make a match as Abraxas Malfoy'

'So that I can receive all of the joy of a Malfoy'

Narcissa gave a light laugh at that.

"She is right, it is a joy to be with you Lucius" Lucius gave her a fond smile that reached his eyes and kissed her hand chastely before continuing to read after his father was impatiently humming for him to continue.

'I might be a half-blood, but I bring the biggest gift to a family'

'My Parseltongue will readily uplift any family'

"There hasn't been a Parseltongue since my years in Hogwarts…" Abraxas trailed off deep in thought but then focused when Lucius continued.

'The cold eyes of the Senate'

'Pierces my heart and its tenet'

Abraxas smirked cockily at that and nodded approvingly.

'The cold smile of his shakes me'

'It will be the sin that lives in me'

"Such a passion! A passion I've never seen in the women from my generation!" Abraxas exclaimed proudly of having such a woman after him.

Sincerely,

Lady Potter.

Lady to the Most Noble and Ancient House of Potter.

"Did dear Dorea step out on Lord Potter with a Parselmouth and have a half-blood daughter? Did she send this letter to me?" Abraxas asked confused and bewildered, maybe Dorea's daughter was Draco's professor?

Narcissa looked astonished that her father-in-law was on first name basis with her late great aunt. But before she could think more on it, Lucius gave his father a slippery smirk,

"Actually, her granddaughter sent that letter, and it was her son, James Potter that had a half-blood daughter." Abraxas gave that statement a thought and then nodded approvingly and having decided the best course for the Malfoy family, he told Lucius,

"Lucy, it's been decided. Draco will wed Lady Potter." Abraxas nodded surely to himself. As the girl cannot have him, she could always have his grandson. If only they had gone to school around the same time, Abraxas lamented. He would have wed her for her abilities, her passion, and her good eye for men, and then Lucius would have been a Parseltongue and so would Draco. But Tom would have also been interested in her, Abraxas thought. He always gave Tom whatever he wanted, but he was sure that he would have tried to win her over one way or the other. Lady Potter already thought he was devastatingly handsome so that would help, but there was no use in thinking of What-Ifs, Abraxas consoled himself.

"But father, as charming as she is, she's a half blood." Lucius protested.

"Lucius, she is a Parseltongue, and she is Lady Potter. She is the last of her Potter line." Abraxas argued with Lucius.

"Then Draco's son can marry her child. By then, her child's blood will be purer and can still inherit the Parseltongue." Lucius shot back. Abraxas was quickly losing his temper by the look he gave Lucius.

"If she marries a mudblood or mugglefilth? Then what Lucius? If she follows in her father's footsteps and marries beneath her…? will you still have your grandchild marry her children?" Lucius didn't say anything to that. He hadn't thought of the possibility of Potter marrying someone beneath her, but she very well can if you consider who her godfather is and her lighter side of the family. Abraxas continued,

"She has the title of Lady Potter and the wealth behind the title. If you wait for Draco's son to marry her daughter, her daughter won't have that title or that wealth anymore. That title and wealth will go to a male heir. And what if she doesn't have a daughter and just has a son? You're missing out on her title, wealth, and her Parseltongue abilities that she can pass onto the Malfoy family." Abraxas scolded his son for not thinking of the bigger picture.

"But father-" Abraxas cut him off,

"I have seen what Parseltongue can do, a simple spell cast in Parseltongue cannot be reversed unless it's countered in Parseltongue, Lucius. Think about the potential and the power it can bring to the Malfoy name. The Malfoy name will be linked to Salazar Slytherin for the rest of history because Draco was the first to marry a Parseltongue. Not the Flint's, Nott's, Bulstrode's, Black's, Avery's, or Morgana forbid the Weasley's! If she marries a Weasley, will you have a Weasley marry into the family Lucius?" Lucius gave a disgusted look just thinking about a Weasley marrying into the family.

"Marry Draco to Lady Potter, if she has two sons, both sons will inherit a lordship and the Malfoy's will have the Potter's Wizengamot seat as well." Abraxas finished.

"And if the Potter girl isn't interested in Draco and refuses to marry him?" Lucius asked. Still trying to find a loophole for Draco's sake. Lucius can now see that it would be beneficial to have Potter as a daughter in law and he would accept her into the family if Draco and Potter accepted each other and found themselves to be suitable match for each other, but the girl isn't what Draco needs. Draco needs a dependent wife that will meet his every need without a fuss. Potter will not do that for him, she has too much Black blood in her for Draco's own good and she resembled many of the Black women. He was lucky that Narcissa was spoiled by her father Cygnus and was raised to be a perfect pureblooded obedient girl and the perfect match for him. But the other Black women like Bellatrix and Andromeda are a handful and too much for a man to handle. He often wondered how Rodolphus, and Tonks did it, but then he remembered that Rodolphus never had control of his wife.

"Then you better ensure that Lady Potter makes a good match and ensure that Draco has a daughter and a son so that either of them can marry her children. Draco's daughter could very well be the future Lady Potter." Abraxas stated obviously.

Narcissa sat there good-naturedly in her chair and was listening in to both men. She was already planning on how to get her Draco and Harriet closer to each other. It would be lovely to have grandchildren that are Parselmouths, and she does want to be surrounded by many grandchildren in the future. It also helped that Harriet had ties to the Black family that reminded her so much of her sisters in their younger years.
