The day starts off with Alya and Nino having to cancel the group outing to the ice-skating rink because of babysitting responsibilities back home that they couldn't get out of. Therefore, it's just Marinette, Adrien, Luka and Kagami who ends up going. Though, Alya and Nino do privately give their best friends some encouragement to confess their feelings for each other before hanging up.

"I...I don't know Alya. I don't want to ruin what we already have-"

"Girl! It won't ruin anything! Trust me, it will make his entire LIFE."

"W-We'll see...we'll see..."

"Mec, if you're so worried about Kagami stealing your girl, just tell her how you feel!"

"It's not that easy, Nino! Besides, even if I do and even if Marinette and I get together, Kagami could still seduce her away!"

"With the way that Marinette is smitten with you? Unlikely."

Once the quad finally arrives at the rink, Adrien and Kagami up their bickering from earlier on and fight over who gets to skate with Marinette, literally fencing against each other with brooms on the ice as if it was a battle to the death and ignoring poor Phillipe who kept on asking them to join his class. (Not only was the duo quite remarkable on the ice, he really needed someone to take his class or else the mayor would shut down his rink).

Meanwhile, Luka and Marinette watch them with amusement (the girl sending heart eyes towards Adrien) and they decide to skate together, for the time being, the latter asking about what lycée life was like. Adrien and Kagami stop fighting for one second to see the pair on the ice, only to burn with insane jealousy and rush after Luka in comical anger.

The oldest teen simply just opens his arms out innocently with a big smile and grabs them both with ease in each hand like they're squabbling children.

"No need to get jealous~ there's more of me to share around!"

"Jealous!? OF YOU!? Nah, you're just getting a bit TOO cosy with MY partner right there, Blueberry!"

"What do you mean 'partner'? She's MY bride to be, Couffaine!"

"I'LL WHACK YOU WITH THE BROOM AGAIN, TSURUGI!"

"I'LL SHOVE IT UP YOUR ASS, AGRESTE!"

Marinette simply facepalms at their shenanigans.

Because he was practically ignored throughout the whole time, Philippe ends up getting akumatised and transforms into Le Petineur. When Marinette notices the ice creeping around supernaturally, she was quick to yell at Luka and Kagami to get to safety and then grabbed Adrien with her to a closet, much to his surprise (He let out an adorable 'mew' when she grabbed him).

Marinette kisses him in a manner that left her partner as a purring, lovesick puddle of kitten goop. All lips and sneaky hands and peppering his blushing face with butterfly kisses until his complexion matched her standard Ladybug suit.

Because the Akuma's powers revolved around an icy environment, Ladybug and Chat Noir had to upgrade their costumes with the blue macaron and camembert (concoctions that they helped Fu create as per the Grimoire's instructions). They both get sparkling, matching tiaras and a wintery embellishment upon their suits as well as some skates.

Whilst battling Le Petineur, they had to keep holding each others' hands to not only boost their powers and make them more agile, strong and in sync but also so they stopped tripping over each other because they're still quite clumsy on the ice. Powers or no powers.

"My Lady- you're too stiff! How did you manage to skate with blueberry boy flawlessly but can barely stay on your feet with me right now!?"

"He was leading me! And you! You stupid Chaton! How many times have you fallen on your face despite holding my hand!? You managed to have an actual sword fight with Kagami beforehand-"

"I HAD A BROOM TO KEEP ME UPRIGHT!"

After purifying Philippe, the day ends with Adrien and Marinette being absolutely cute and everything with each other, not letting go of their hands like the lovesick fools they are. They agree to attend Philippe's classes in the future along with their friends because they certainly need more help and experience in the field, making the flamboyant man's day.

Marinette shyly asks if Adrien would like to skate again, but, with just her. He joyfully agrees with a big fat "OUI, MA PRINCESSE!", spinning her around in a hug with laughter. It so was a date.

However, Kagami watches them with bittersweetness and envy; she's also quite surprised to see Luka on the other hand so carefree about it. Deep down inside, she knew, she always knew that she has no chance against Adrien.

"Doesn't it bother you?" The fencer asked the musician, not bothering to hide the disappointment and sternness in her voice. Her companion wasn't phased and continued to beam down at her sweetly.

"What?"

"Seeing...seeing them like...like that?" His sea-blue eyes softened at her despondent tone but he also knew that there wasn't really anything he could do but listen to her pour her soul out. It was the first time that she was opening up to him of all people and the boy couldn't help but treasure the moment.

Even if their hearts were breaking simultaneously.

"Why would it, Kagami? I love them both. Seeing them happy makes me happy, even if I'm not the cause of it," Luka glanced at them with a tender smile and then peered back at the shorter girl. "Life is too short to dwell on negative feelings,"

"More of a reason to never hesitate for what you want in life. Otherwise, they'll slip out of your fingers quicker than you realise," Kagami countered with heat. "Though, I doubt someone who's far too carefree as yourself would understand that."

Luka gaped at her for a millisecond with surprise before bursting out into laughter, leaning against the wall for support whilst she observed him with confusion. What was so funny?

"I won't lie, I've let go of more things than I'd like to admit because of my passiveness." His eyes turned compassionate. "But, it's not in my nature to storm into battle as head strongly as you. I like to observe and watch. I'm content with how things are now and I'll pace myself in a manner that I'm most comfortable with." Luka placed a comforting hand on her slender but strong shoulder, giving it a squeeze to emphasise his support. "Even if it means that it would cost me something,"

"I see, that's one way to put it," Kagami hummed in thought, taking his words into consideration. Clearly, he's had a much, much different upbringing compared to hers.

A much free one...

With no pressure to maintain the family's honour and dignity.

Or was there much more to him than she realised?

"It's not a bad thing, the way you approach your feelings and your loved ones. In fact, it's a trait I admire from you...a lot. I can't wait to see how you'll bloom as you grow, Kagami," The girl felt a peculiar tickle to her heart, a small, blossoming feeling of warmth. That's just friendship...right? "And sometimes, if you want to keep growing and get stronger...you have to let things go. One step at a time,"

Luka's smile then turned sombre, eyebrows furrowed and blues glittering with melancholy on behalf of his ferocious friend. He kept his hands on the girl's shoulders just so that her back was facing the duo.

Just so she didn't have to witness Adrien bringing Marinette in for a tender kiss and the girl herself reciprocating the gesture with as much enthusiasm as him. (Their iconic jewellery mysteriously gone for a while).

"Are...Are you telling me to give up on Marinette?" The very idea felt like a deadly knife through poor Kagami's heart, hands clenching till her knuckles whitened.

"That's up to you. Remember, at the end of the day, their feelings matter too, especially Marinette's. Personally, I don't want to see you get hurt at all." He gave her shoulder one last gentle squeeze before offering to take her home on his bike. They don't mention their love dilemmas again, both choosing to mull over their unrequited feelings.

And the quiet, gentle flame of the thoughts of each other.

A/N: I hope you lads enjoyed this bittersweet ending~ Especially those who have a soft spot for Lukagami, romantic or platonic (though I ping-pong when it comes to this pairing lol). Also, I don't think I really need to say this but since we have a few crackheads in the fandom, I just wanna state that the heartbreaks are no one's fault lol. No one is obliged to return the others' feelings and no one owes the other anything.

Next chapter will be Anansi and it will be the final chapter of season two! Then we'll get onto season three which starts off with Chameleon hoooooo boi.
