Dream
They tell me I was cursed
If it's true it was a first
For it seems to me
I was but in a deep sleep
Which lasted for a week.
One dream after another
End over end
The last dream I had
You were there
But all you did
Was stand there and stare.
Your eyes were glazed
Your posture ridged
Dressed in a gown of white
It was quite the sight
Two men held your hands
Neither caring if you had your say
One of night the other of day
Both arguing over you
It lasted the entire day
The one of night
Held your hand so tight
Yet the one of day
Never gave way
And through all this
You just stood there and swayed
Never looking either way
Like a lifeless doll
About to be torn in two
As children fought over you
Still the fight went on
For an unknown reason
I couldn't hear either of them talk
While this tug of war was fought
The war continued until
The sky went dark
And you started to cry
Tears of blood fell from your eyes
With this sight
Both forgot to fight
Their grip slipped
Down you sprawled
Like a porcelain doll
Upon contact you shatter
And your pieces scattered
The characters disappeared
The scene faded
And one sound was heard
A howl of pain
The pain of love lost
Filled my ears.
I know not who cried
Whether man or beast
Last night in my dream
But I know he loved you
And had nothing to gain
Except you keeping him sane.
So take my warning
And marry right
Not the one who let's you out of his sight
But the one that will cry
If you ever die.
In the end it is your choice
For it is your life
And know nomatter who you choose
I'll be on your side.
