A/N: Thank you for your ongoing support. Just to let you know that there won't be an update next week due to RL commitments. However, I will be back the following week. I hope that you enjoy this update and I will see you then 😉
Home. She hadn't applied that word to anywhere since she lost hers all those years ago; but now she had been told that she had a 'home' here on Earth. On the journey back to the old man's island, Chia contemplated what this meant. It was a bizarre feeling, that semblance of belonging grew within her the longer she remained here. Chia knew that forming these kinds of attachments could become a distraction and distractions were dangerous. If she didn't leave soon, it could cost her her life.
The five days since then with Master Roshi had not changed her outlook, but the time was well spent learning that there is more than one way to achieve the same goal and that having a variety of options to utilise can put you in a stronger position. She found that she had more choices and freedom than she'd realised.
Now standing perfectly poised and practising her katas on the sandy beach in front of Kame House, Chia began to slowly move into position to practise her well rehearsed Kamehameha wave of pure blue-tinted energy out towards the sea. Her sense of calm was now unparalleled with any other experience and she moved with clear focus.
During her time there, she had been learning to systematically add more energy into the kamehameha wave each time, although occasionally it did have an unfortunate effect of causing local tsunamis that flooded the island. Thankfully, Kame House was built to withstand such a scenario, likely due to the similar teachings of the students that had resided there before her. This left Chia feeling relieved not to be responsible for breaking any more of the beloved house.
As she prepared herself to create another wave of energy, her senses alerted her. Calling over her shoulder towards the island house, "Hey, Master Roshi, there's someone coming. I think it's Bulma." But before she had even finished speaking, the old man had run outside and was now standing panting next to her.
"Your sense… of Ki… is quite… incredible." He breathed out heavily.
They watched as the aircraft came into view, getting larger as it drew nearer. Before long the yellow vehicle had arrived on the shimmering golden sands of the beach in front of them.
Bulma jumped out with a wide genuine smile across her face, "Hey Roshi! How are you?" Then looking over to Chia, "I heard you were still on Earth, but I'm surprised to see you here of all places. It's good to see you Chia!"
Chia simply nodded in response to the greeting, her priority was to find out what Bulma wanted first. Dread began to fill her at the prospect that she may have missed her chance with this dragon that Bulma had spoken about, and all whilst she had been messing around and meditating on some island.
"What brings you all the way out here young lady?" The Turtle Hermit asked.
"Actually, I've been searching for the Dragon Balls and the dragon radar led me here - again!"
"Yes, yes, of course it would. I've been wondering when you'd come for it. Just wait here a second and I'll go dig it out for you." I wonder what I can ask for this time! Inwardly chuckling, as he walked back up to the beach and disappeared into the house.
Chia's mind was whirring away. She was happy to know that these Dragon Balls could be tracked by this dragon radar device, but she was also angry at herself for overlooking the location she resided in.
"I see you've already got your pumpkin seeds." As the bluenette attempted to make conversation.
"Huh?" Confused by why she would make that assumption, until Bulma gestured towards her dirtied trouser leg. It had been several days since her interaction with the pumpkin and with no real spare clothes available to her, she didn't have much of a choice of her attire.
Understanding her problem, Bulma gave her a soft smile, "I'll tell you what, come back to my home at Capsule Corp and I'll see if I can get you some decent alternative clothes to wear."
Placing her hands on her armour, "There's nothing wrong with my clothes or armour, they're highly practical and functional." The warrior instantly retorted in a slightly defensive tone. She couldn't hide being a bit offended.
"I can see that, I just mean... wouldn't you love to have a nice hot shower away from prying eyes…" Adding a wink to drive home her point. Chia knew that Bulma was absolutely correct, the old man did have a roving eye. It wasn't that the warrior couldn't deal with him or anything, it's that she shouldn't have to. Bulma could see that she was obviously thinking it over, "At least think about it, okay?" And Chia nodded in response.
Shortly after their conversation had ended, Master Roshi approached both of the women once more, only this time with a simple brown pouch in his hand. Arriving beside them and tipping it out onto Bulma's open palm, the white bearded man announced, "Here it is, the three star dragon ball."
"That dragon ball always has a knack for winding up with you!" Bulma replied, letting out a giggle as the Turtle Hermit agreed with her.
Chia had been quietly contemplating her next move whilst the exchange between the two old friends was taking place in front of her. Eventually she decided to speak up, "I'm sorry Master Roshi, but I've decided to accept Bulma's invitation to go to this Capsy-Cap place with her."
"Do you mean Capsule Corp?" Roshi asked her while raising one of his white eyebrows. Chia nodded in response, almost blushing in embarrassment by her awkward mispronouncing, while Bulma stifled a laugh at her mistake. Ignoring the bluenette, Roshi continued, "What about your training? It's not finished yet."
"I will be back to complete it some day, but..uh..thanks..for..uh.. everything Master Roshi." He raised both of his eyebrows at the sincerity in her voice, he knew that she would keep that word. In that moment he realised that he was actually quite proud of her, if not a little concerned about the thought of her being out loose on the world again; he hoped that she would remember her promise not to kill. He nodded to her in acknowledgement and then watched the two feisty women as they left on Bulma's aircraft.
Landing in the grounds of Capsule Corp, Chia was relieved to be out of the aircraft; especially as Bulma had prattled on about the things she found most annoying within the competition. Ironically she didn't list herself, Chia thought inwardly.
During the flight, the armour-clad woman had picked up on bits of what Bulma was saying, apparently her older oddly named-named sister, Tights, had been the one to tell her about the list; that the blue-haired woman was some kind of scientist; and that her friends were the planet's saviours. None of which Chia cared to know.
Taking in the sights and looking around at the domed buildings and idyllic gardens, it was clear to see that this was some kind of haven in the middle of a bustling metropolis. But with high walls and security devices, she wasn't sure if this was to keep others out or in. Despite finding Bulma somewhat tolerable, Chia still couldn't trust anyone and would continue to remain on her guard.
Bulma walked on ahead continuing to talk away to the air as the raven-haired woman followed behind her, keenly eyeing her surroundings. When an overly enthusiastic blonde woman came rushing over, causing the Saiyan-like female to immediately take her fighting stance and give a low growl.
"MOM! What have I told you? You can't just rush up to people like that." Bulma bellowed at the blonde woman.
"Mom?" Chia stood dumbfounded, just watching this new woman and trying to assess her intentions. She was surprised that someone of her shared species still remained with their parents into adulthood. It had certainly not been her experience of families on Planet Vegeta.
In a kind-hearted voice she explained herself, "Oh dear, I was only trying to say hello and see if your friend needed anything", the blonde-haired woman gestured to Chia, "It's so rare to see a woman fighter around here, you'll have all the boys abuzz!"
"Mom enough!" Turning to talk to the raven-haired woman, "Sorry about that Chia, come with me, let's get you sorted." As Bulma guided her over to the patio near the domed building.
Gesturing for Chia to sit down at the outside table and chairs, "You know, I couldn't help myself and did some research about you when I got home, as I thought that I recognised you after we first met."
Taking a seat, Chia nodded for her to continue, somewhat interested to hear what the bluenette had found out. She didn't really know who she was or where she came from. It likely wouldn't change her feelings about the planet, but still she was curious nonetheless.
Bulma took out a piece of paper from her pocket and pushed it across the table to place it in front of Chia. "Well… you're the Ox King's daughter, you're Chi-Chi aren't you?"
Chia looked at the image on the paper, she didn't recognise the oversized man or the very young raven-haired baby. "I don't know, am I?" She spoke just above a whisper.
"Did you hit your head or something? How can you not know?" Bulma was truly shocked that Chia couldn't recognise her own family. She looked at her face, unable to discern what she was thinking.
"I didn't grow up here on Earth, they said that I was sent away as a baby to train with strong warriors." The Saiyan-like female said matter-of-factly, her eyes still locked on the image.
Unable to hide her surprise, "Woah… I've heard about that program, it was shut down a long time ago. I've never actually met anyone who returned though. Well things certainly make a lot more sense about you now", thinking of her interactions with the female warrior so far. Watching Chia continuing to stare at the image of her lost family, Bulma lifted her pen and tapped it against her cheek in thought. "You know, my father, Dr Brief, he was actually the one who petitioned the government for it to be shut down. He said it was utterly inhumane, ripping little ones away from their families like that and then having them grow up on distant planets alone or even worse, with monsters."
This all had been quite a revelation for Chia, causing her heartbeat to pound in her ears and her throat to tighten. Monsters. This word whirred around in her head. She had never thought of herself like that, Chia was mildly offended at the thought of her proud race being reduced to this word, but to the minds of lesser beings it was possible they considered her and her people like that. Not wanting to give any clues to the effect it had on her, especially not to this woman. Swallowing hard and trying to sound nonchalant, "Yeah well, I made it alright." In an attempt to tentatively fish for more information she asked, "So do you know why they did it anyway? What was the purpose?"
"If I remember correctly, it was to train the children. Apparently it was supposed to mean that once they had learned and achieved the ways and strengths of other races, they could bring that knowledge back with them to Earth. In the hopes of ultimately making excellent defenders for our planet." Chia looked up at her, as she started to piece the information together. "I suppose an argument could be made that it has actually worked. I mean you're here and well… look at you!" The scientist gestured her hands up and down, taking in Chia's physique.
"No no no, I'm not here for this puny planet." Shaking her hands and her head in disbelief that she would somehow be seen as some kind of returning hero to save them all. "Why can't the Earth defend itself?"
"Well the thing is, over the last fifty ages - at least since we've been interacting with extraterrestrials, that we know of." Bulma gave a knowing smile that Chia couldn't quite decipher. "Us as Earthlings have discovered that by comparison, we're actually quite weak. So being a fragile species in that respect, we haven't and wouldn't be able to defend ourselves against incoming or home-grown threats."
Bulma put her pen down and gestured over to the two orange-clad beings, who were now standing with the blonde woman she had seen earlier. "Well that was the case until more recently anyway. See those two guys over there? They're the strongest people on the planet, Krillin & Yamcha."
Looking from the men back to Bulma with a raised eyebrow, "Oh really, are they stronger than me?"
"Uh… um… I-I don't really know." Unsure how to answer and more worried about what the answer would mean to Chia, so the bluenette ended up stumbling over her words.
"Hey boys fancy a fight?!" The armour-clad woman shouted from across the well-tended garden with a smirk on her face. The blonde woman had disappeared from sight, leaving alone the scarred man and a short bald man on the Capsule Corp grounds. She stood up abruptly from the table, feeling the call of a fight.
Both of the men looked from each other back to her, completely dumbfounded, as the taller one shouted back, "Whaddya mean?"
They scarcely saw how quickly she moved across the compound grounds. With Yamcha simply shouting, "WOAH! HOLY SHIT! YOU CAN'T JUST SUCKER PUNCH SOMEONE LIKE THAT!"
Withdrawing her hand from the small man's face and then settling into her now flawless fighting stance - courtesy of Master Roshi. Yamcha's face turned a pale shade of green.
"Don't you wanna fight? C'mon, just a friendly spar of course." But that smile of hers gave away a lot more than they felt comfortable with.
"Shit shit shit shit-" whilst running over to a now floored Krillin, "Chia you can't just start beating everyone up!" Bulma was fearful for her friend's wellbeing, she crouched beside him checking him over. Then looking up at her boyfriend with worried blue eyes, "Have you got any senzu beans Yamcha?"
Emerging from the house again, "Oh my what's going on out here? I hope you boys are playing nicely." Panchy asked with a cloying smile.
"Urgh Mom that's not what- Can you just take Chia somewhere!"
"Of course dear, there's no need to shout, you know." The blonde-haired woman answered her daughter, before then turning to Chia, "Now you must be hungry, what with all that warrior stuff that you do."
Chia didn't have to respond as her own stomach lurched with a rumble, giving away her feelings. Looking at the blonde woman, she simply nodded.
"Right this way dear", as Panchy led her into the building and towards the kitchen and in no time she had served her plate after plate.
Watching Chia eat the large amounts of food she was offered was quite a spectacle for Panchy. She had been catering for her daughter's friends for years and they always had a healthy appetite, but this was something on a league of its own.
The Saiyan-like woman sat alone eating at the table in the kitchen while Panchy continued to prepare more food, until Bulma and the two orange-clad fighters came to sit down with her. Without outwardly acknowledging it, Chia was surprised that the small fighter had come away from her punch completely unscathed. She had to admit that she was quietly impressed, but mostly she was just relieved that she wouldn't have to hear another rant about her conduct or a broken promise that might get back to Master Roshi. It had become a complaint that she was fast growing tired of hearing since she had been on Earth.
In the voiceless kitchen, Yamcha attempted to break the awkwardness that the Earth-grown humans were now experiencing, "So…" he started whilst he loaded his plate with food. "You realise that we kind of have an unwritten rule here about fighting, where we talk first in the hope of de-escalating it."
Chia looked directly over at the scar-faced man, "Do you realise that real battles aren't like that? You're fighting for your life, not wasting any time with such frivolities." Then taking another bite of the succulent meat steak.
"Yeah we have some experience in fights like that", Yamcha turned and confidently smirked at Krillin.
"Oh you mean that Piccolo guy? Master Roshi already told me about your troubles with him. I can deal with him for you no problem."
Both Earth fighter's eyes widened at this assertion. Piccolo and his father before him, King Piccolo, had been a scourge on the planet for quite some time and they had found great difficulty in defeating him.
"You've already fought him?" Krillin asked in utter disbelief.
"Yeah, I punched him through Kame House!" Chia let out an almighty laugh at the memory of the angry flying Namekian, of which startled the rest of the beings at the table.
Panchy - who was completely unfazed by the female warrior - laid more food on the table for the others to eat, of which they gratefully accepted. Chia continually eyed the plates to scout any new further delicacies.
"So Bulma told us that your real name is Chi-Chi and that you're actually the Ox King's daughter." This immediately caught Chia's attention and she stopped chewing and looked at the guy speaking about her mysterious past. "My friend Puar is helping out over at his castle nowadays. Y'know, having met that colossal guy, it makes a lot of sense about how you got your strength." Yamcha was keen to strike up a conversation with her, in an attempt to make her feel at ease and surrounded by understanding.
She instantly swallowed and put the rest of her food down, "My name is Chia! Not this Chi-Chi and I am a proud Saiyan warrior, we get our strength from battle."
"Okay, well Chia", wisely dropping the apparently sensitive topic, "I also heard that you were training with Master Roshi. You know he was our master before."
Resuming chomping down on the delicious food, she spoke between mouthfuls. "Something like that", she said with a smug grin, "Yes I did know, he'd taken great pride in telling me; I can see why your friend was able to take that punch so well." Moving her head to look directly at Krillin, "You're not as utterly pathetic as I'd thought you'd be, but you're still weak nonetheless."
Yamcha despised being called weak and on hearing her refer to him like that, he was keen to justify himself. "Hang on a minute, we are strong and if it wasn't for the senzu-"
Krillin spoke over his friend, trying to drown out the sound of his admission about the senzu beans, "Hey, hey, we're all good here. It was just a little fight, no problems here. I could take that hit easily, Pffft." Raising his voice and waving his hands in front of himself.
Throughout their time in the kitchen, Bulma had been studying the interactions and mannerisms across the table in front of her whilst she politely ate her small meal. Ever the scientist, she chose to broach a couple of questions with Chia that were whirring around her analytical mind. "Your armour, I've never seen anything like it. That design and the material certainly look efficient and robust. You know, I'd love to run some tests on it."
"Not today", the raven-haired warrior answered abruptly.
But Bulma had continued on talking, "And I'd love to-"
"I am not your testing thing."
"Do you mean guinea pig?"
"No, what's that?" Confused by what the bluenette meant.
"Oh nothing." Bulma and the others began to stifle a laugh, much to Chia's chagrin. Taking a moment and straightening her face, the scientist stated openly, "I just want to know more about what being in space does to a human."
"Maybe your father shouldn't have shut the programme down then!" The raven-haired woman quickly retorted with an indignant tone.
"Really? After everything you've been through, you still support that notion." The scientist was met only with silence. "You don't wish that you could of-"
"Enough!"
"I was just saying, you don't have to be rude. We really are trying to help, but the reality is your heritage is here." The bluenette tried to explain.
The fierce Saiyan-raised woman lowered her seething voice in an assertive tone; whilst staring into the cerulean eyes of the woman opposite she said, "You don't know me, you don't know who I am or what I am capable of. I may share some genetics with you but I am far from human. I am not weak for a start."
Staring back at the deep brown eyes opposite from her, without flinching Bulma fierily responded, "Yeah, I saw that same arrogance from the other Saiyan guys at the terraforming station. But do you know what? You might not consider yourself human, but you're not a Saiyan either."
With that final sting, Chia abruptly stood up from the table shaking all the crockery in the process. Her anger was about to boil over, she knew that she'd better leave now before she caused any irreparable damage. However, once out of the kitchen she didn't know which way to go to exit the building. Making a choice she followed the hallway, eventually passing an open room with large doors to an outside area. It looked like a suitable place to take off from.
"WAIT!" Came the shout from behind her as she walked out onto the balcony. The breathless blue-haired woman had chased after the armour-clad female, only coming to a stop a few metres from her. "Look..I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to upset you."
"I am not upset." Chia stated firmly, crossing her arms over armoured chest.
Bulma instantly knew she'd touched a nerve on what she was now discovering were incredibly prideful people. "No of course not, I meant offend. I wasn't trying to offend you." Changing track seemed to work, as Chia's arms fell back to her sides. "You don't have to go, you know, there's plenty of space for you here. Plus there's still so much to do, so I-we can learn from each other. Please stay. You still haven't had that shower yet either…"
Taking a moment to think it over, she finally answered, "Fine. Where is it?"
Trying to contain a squeal, "Yes okay, it's right this way." As Bulma turned to walk out of the room in the direction of a suitable bathroom. Looking over her shoulder to ensure the stern-faced Saiyan-like woman was still following her, "Would you mind if I took a look at your armour whilst you're in there? I mean I can even have it cleaned up nicely for you too." Whilst she smiled sweetly.
Chia eyed her suspiciously as they walked, but she knew that she needed this time to take care of herself. This woman's request had seemed innocent enough.
On arriving at a large room with numerous washing facilities, Chia removed her armour and handed it to the scientist with a slight hesitation. She had noticed the sudden fall in Bulma's face when she took the whole weight of it, obviously these kinds of protection were not familiar to her. At the sight of this, Chia couldn't help but let out a small snicker.
After initially struggling to work out the washing contraptions, she found herself being able to enjoy the relief that the warm droplets of water had brought her. She treated it as a reward for being what the Earthling's considered to be 'well-behaved'.
On finishing her admittedly luxurious shower, Chia felt amazing. Her hair, her skin, her old injuries felt so much better and even her mind felt clearer. It was quite possibly the best shower that she'd ever had, especially feeling a level of safety in this normally vulnerable location that she had seldom felt before.
Clad in only a towel around her waist, Chia walked from the bathroom down the hall and into the open room where the others now resided.
"Woah Chia! You can't just walk around like that! And if you do, cover your breasts at least! Where are your clothes?!" Krillin shouted, as Yamcha stood up but said nothing while he stared at her open-mouthed. Seeing the beautifully toned and defined body of the raven-haired warrior - that even made the numerous scars that littered her luminous skin - shimmer with radiance. It was enough to stop both Earth-raised humans in their tracks. An already attractive woman before, she was suddenly the most stunning being they'd ever laid their eyes on.
"Where are my clothes then?" She barked back, unsure of what the issue was and why they were behaving oddly.
Bulma entered the living area and face-palmed at the scene in front of her, "Chia come with me, I'll get you some clothes for the meantime. Seriously boys pick your jaws up, it's not like you haven't seen a semi-naked female before." She winked at them knowingly, before both women exited the room.
After trying on a couple of Bulmas clothes and shredding them every single time because of her muscular frame, she was offered a final piece. "The fuck is this?!" As the Saiyan-like woman lifted the pink garment with some human text on the back to view it.
"Hey, be grateful! It's the only thing that'll fit you before we can go shopping." The bluenette retorted.
"I am not wearing that. And what in the gods is this contraption?!" Holding a bra up, trying to work out the material in front of her.
Bulma couldn't help chuckle at the sight, a beautiful woman stood half naked in her bedroom, and it wasn't her. She'd never met anyone more brazen than herself.
Having relented to Bulma's assertions and now dressed in clothing that she had been reassured was perfectly acceptable - despite her own feelings of the pink shirt - Chia had been shown to a bedroom that was apparently entirely her own. After a quick tour of the facilities courtesy of Panchy, she found herself back in the beautiful gardens. Utilising the time and free space, Chia began practising her katas.
"I was looking all over for you, I see Master Roshi taught you how to suppress your Ki now." Yamcha emerged beside her - his cheeks uncontrollably reddened a bit from the embarrassment he felt before - and began moving through his own similar katas.
"Yes, it's a…helpful thing to know." Chia was unwilling to share that she had every intention of using it to keep herself off from everyone's radar so to speak. "But I don't just rely on being able to sense energy or Ki. Since I've been on Earth, I've been able to plug any holes in my defences."
Eyeing her form, especially in that shirt, he tried to hold back a laugh and instead tried to focus on their conversation. "I can tell, we could sense you clearly before when you first landed and quite frankly your power is incredible for a human, if not a little scary too. But now I've got no idea and it's kind of got everyone a little on edge."
Chia couldn't help letting a small smile creep across her face, having others fear her often kept them in check. However, she wasn't going to let her guard down completely around these humans, they had potential after all.
Speaking up whilst sweeping hands across the air into a new stance, Yamcha offered, "Bulma left earlier to go and find the last remaining dragon balls. We've all decided to assist you with our wish."
"Wish? What wish?"
"The dra-…wait you don't know?" Suddenly wondering whether he'd just accidentally divulged information, but then recalled what Bulma had said and he was definitely allowed to say this.
Chia immediately latched onto his words. "Dragon, yes I need the dragon. The eternal dragon." However, she was intrigued by the prospect of some wish, "But tell me about this wish too."
"Ah shit, okay so there are these seven orange balls called dragon balls…" as Yamcha explained what it actually entailed and "...Kami is the Earth's Guardian…" informing her of all their history together. Especially those memories around their adventures growing up, as they searched for the orange starred balls years ago and even detailing some of their fighting experiences.
The conversation, comparison of stances and extremely light sparring continued on late into the evening, until Chia's stomach let out an extraordinarily loud grumble. On hearing that, Yamcha laughed and directed her towards the kitchen, where Panchy had left stacks of prepared meals in the fridge; knowing that the woman with the big appetite would want feeding at some point that evening. Once in the kitchen, the orange-clad man took the opportunity to teach her how to use the microwave to heat up the food, although she had been a bit too eager and already started eating it cold whilst she was waiting for the first one to cook.
"Do you live here?" She asked.
"Well.. erm.. no I just stay here sometimes." He'd rather stay to keep an eye on her and her actions - especially now - but he wasn't about to mention that to her.
With her appetite satiated, Chia wiped her mouth and turned to Yamcha, "You're attracted to me, aren't you?"
Taken by total surprise, Yamcha instantly put his hands up in front of himself defensively and shook his head. "No no no, well yes but no not like that! You're obviously a very fine woman… b-but I'm with… B-Bulma." He explained breathlessly with a squeak.
"So she's your mate?"
"Y-yeah, I-I suppose you could say that. She's my girlfriend."
"Mmm interesting", Chia eyed him, "Well you probably couldn't have handled me anyway." She said with a sly smirk as she stood up from the table, making her way out of the kitchen and towards her allocated bedroom.
Leaving Yamcha absolutely speechless still sat at the kitchen table, his cheeks red yet again.
In the morning, Chia was back outside in the gardens practising her katas. Having quite possibly had the most comfortable night's sleep she'd ever had. Although she did wake frequently to survey her foreign environment, the Saiyan-like woman was in a pleasant mood today by comparison to the previous day. Especially, since a plentiful breakfast was awaiting her when she awoke. This lavish lifestyle was certainly a bizarre experience but something that she could grow accustomed to. No, I have to leave soon. I will not grow attached. This is NOT my home.
As Bulma's mother approached her in the garden, Chia stood up out of her stance and greeted her. Panchy made a comment about the warrior's regime and how obviously it was good for the body, having cast an eye over her athletic form. The blonde-haired woman stopped staring once Chia caught her eye and she quickly changed subject to invite the warrior to Bulma's lab. This wasn't somewhere that Chia had been before and she was certainly curious about the kind of work that she would see there.
Following the blonde-haired woman to a different building and through another maze of hallways, they finally arrived at some heavy duty doors. These look like they could take a few blasts, I wonder what she's working on in here.
After Panchy diligently punched a code in a keypad, the entrance opened up and the raven-haired woman was greeted brightly by Bulma beckoning her in from her desk on the other side of the messy but clinical looking room. "Hey Chia, come on in. Did you sleep alright?"
"Uh.. yes", she answered confused as to why she would be asked that, whilst walking towards where the bluenette was seated
"Great! If the bed is a problem, then we can get it changed if you want. Same goes for the sheets or clothes or well anything really." The scientist chuckled at the end, as if these were options available for every human.
Sighing at the unnecessary chatter, "What did you request me for?"
"Oh right, yes! I've taken a good look at your armour and it really is absolutely incredible. The closest thing the chemical makeup of your armour comes anywhere near enough to, is some sort of hybrid graphene. But yours is infinitely stronger, more durable and flexible than what we have here on Earth."
"Yes well it is made to withstand incredible forces, including the heat and pressure from Ki use, as well as the speeds that we move at. My Saiyan counterparts also require it to be flexible enough for their transitions."
"Transitions?" She paused, not understanding what application the warrior might be referring too; but the scientist was far too keen to discuss the armour, making a mental note to come back to that. "I can see how your armour would be highly effective at standing up to all that, I mean you must have taken a monumental blast to have caused this damage", as she pointed to the cracked back plate of the armour and proceeded to run her hands along the burned edges. "How do you even survive something like this?" She muttered quietly.
"Training. Every single day without fail and occasionally luck. Sometimes it just jumps in and helps you out when you need it." Chia smiled to herself, just thinking about her recent case of 'luck'.
"You know, there are some elements in this stuff that even I can't identify. So it's going to take me some time to break it all down. However, we've been working on some specialist kevlar that has similar purposes. I could take another look at those designs and see if we could maybe recreate this armour. For now, I just need this one tiny sample that I took and I can give your armour back, but I don't know how effective it will be in its current condition." Bulma said whilst offering it back to the warrior.
"Keep it, I've got another on my ship."
"Whaaat! You could have said, do you know how careful I've been? When all I've wanted to do is rip it apart and dissect it!"
In an uncharacteristically cool voice, the raven-haired woman stated, "Do you realise that you have the temper and the fire of a Saiyan, it's just a shame that you don't have the strength to match."
"Oh really? Well I've got strength in other ways you know." She threw the armour back down on the lab side and crossed her arms in a huff.
Chia started to laugh loudly, throwing her head back allowing the sound to escape but then abruptly stopped. This sudden change in demeanour chilled Bulma to the core. The bluenette feared that Chia was suddenly going to turn on her, Bulma began to use her hand to discreetly fumble around behind her to find anything she could use as a weapon to defend herself.
In a sinisterly low voice, the Saiyan-like warrior announced, "Others are arriving."
"Shit! Already?! My satellite drones should have picked it up. It looks like we're gonna have to do this now then." Dropping her tool back down on the side.
"Do what now? I have to get to my ship." Chia answered.
"What, you're leaving us?! At a time like this?!" The panicking bluenette threw her arms out in shock.
With an exasperated sigh, the female warrior responded, "No, I told you that my armour is on my ship and so are my weapons. Also I'm not your saviour, I just don't want to die."
Gathering some items up from her desk, "Yeah thanks for reminding me that you don't care about us, you've made that abundantly clear." From above an audible alarm sounded. Looking up towards the system, Bulma growled, "It's about bloody time! Anyway, what I was talking about was making the wish. We need to get it done so the balls become inert before they can find them. That kind of power in the wrong hands would be unimaginably dangerous!" Bulma was fuming by this point and keen to prevent a potential catastrophe.
"What, you've got them all?" The raven-haired woman asked in genuine surprise. This human really is something else. I see what the scarred faced man sees in her.
"Yes, I picked up the last one this morning. I was waiting for you to finish your training before we summoned the dragon, I saw how you get about these things." Bulma admitted.
"Look, we're wasting time here, what are you doing?" Chia announced impatiently.
"How far do you think they are?"
Calming her mind for a moment to feel out the approaching energy, "Well they're not in the atmosphere yet, but I can feel them very near. We don't have a lot of time."
Fear overtook Bulma's face, she turned silently and rushed over to the back of the lab. Opening a discreet panel, there stood a large solid metal type door that Chia thought much stronger looking than that of the lab's entrance. The bluenette unlocked it and disappeared into the room behind, only emerging a couple of minutes later with a bag. "Sorry, I just had to get the balls from the safe." After sealing it back up again, she gave a knowing smile, "Right, we're gonna need to be outside for this."
Once outside, Bulma called forth the endlessly long green scaled Eternal Dragon by the name of Shenron. Hovering in the now dark ominously clouded sky, the beast of legend was truly a sight to behold. The sheer power of such a being put Chia on edge, experiencing such inferiority from its presence alone.
Hearing the depth of its voice as it engaged with Bulma, considering the vastness of the possibilities of wishes and seeing the ease of attaining greatness. Chia simply stood in awe and incredibly humbled by the being in front of her.
And then in an instant, it was all gone. Seven streaks of light blast their own separate ways, she could only assume to litter the planet once again.
After clouds disappeared and the sky lightened once again, Bulma was standing desperately holding in her arms, the two extraordinarily large green tinged iridescent scales of the eternal dragon that had hovered in front of them only moments beforehand.
Incoming from the now bright sky and landing beside the two women in a rush, were Yamcha and Krillin. "We felt the presence coming and started making our way over here, but when we saw the sky darken and the dragon appear in the distance we shot over as fast as possible." Said Krillin breathlessly relieved.
"Well I'm just glad it was you and no-one else. At least they're safe for another age." Yamcha said comfortingly as he took one of the scales from Bulma. He turned and spoke to Chia, "This is for you, thanks for your help and I hope you'll reconsider what I said about coming back to Earth."
Taking the treasure item from the list, "Thanks and I hope you'll reconsider what I said."
Instantly, Yamcha began to blush profusely at her insinuation, swallowing dryly in the process. "I..uh..don't-"
A loud and booming sound filled the sky, drowning out the few words Yamcha was stammering. They all looked up in shock, only to see what looked like several meteors descending across the sky. A sight Chia knew all too well…
Shit. If that's who I think it is, then we're fucked.
