Thea was getting ready for work, when she heard laughter downstairs. Brie was gone already, she had an early client.
After she put her hair into a ponytail, she made her way down. Getting to the kitchen, Dean and Joey were sitting on bar stools watching Roman make breakfast.
She smiled.
"Breakfast in bed", he said.
Thea held the covers to her chest, smiling at the trey full of food. She had forgotten her hair was in a mess and her makeup was probably smeared.
"Wow", she said.
None of her previous boyfriends had ever done something like this before.
"I hope that's a happy, surprised wow", Roman said.
"It is", she said.
They had been dating three weeks now.
"I didn't know you can cook", she said, lifting the fork and poking at the scrambled eggs.
"One of my many talents", he said, wiggling his brow.
She giggled.
"How is it?", he asked.
"Its really good", she said.
"Good", he said, kissing the side of her head.
He had never made breakfast in bed for any of his previous girlfriends.
"Hey you're up", Dean said, he pulled out an extra stool and patted the seat.
"Daddy's making breakfast", Joey said, stuffing her face with chocolate chip pancakes.
"I hope it's okay that I gave her those, you know chocolate chip wise", Roman said.
Thea sat.
"Its fine Roman, just don't give her too much", she said, brushing her daughter's messy hair back.
He nodded.
He set a plate down in front of her and she smiled. Lifting the fork, she ate a piece of cut up ham.
"How is it?", he asked.
"It's good", she said softly.
"Good", he said, wiping his hand on a small towel.
If only he knew they've already been through this. Dean leaned into her.
"Tell him", he whispered.
She looked at Dean and he winked.
Roman had told him that same afternoon that he had made Thea breakfast.
"You, made a girl breakfast?", Dean said, shocked.
It was a miracle in itself that Roman had stuck with this girl this far. Roman usually found something wrong with the chick by the second date.
Dean knew this because he was the same way.
"We've only been dating three weeks but, Dean, I might be falling in love with this girl. She's absolutely amazing and she laughs at my jokes", Roman gushed.
"And your jokes suck", Dean said.
Roman chuckled.
Dean finished his food and lifted Joey out of her seat.
"Lets go get you ready for the day kiddo", Dean said.
Roman watched them leave. He set his coffee down.
"You always made good breakfast. Breakfast in bed was my favorite, mostly because I didn't have to make it", she said.
"I made you breakfast in bed?", he asked.
She poked her eggs and nodded.
"The first time you did it, we had only been dating three weeks. My hair was all over the place and my make up was smeared", she said, laughing at the memory.
He smiled.
"I have never made breakfast for any woman. Thank you for telling me", he said.
She nodded.
"Although, I think now counts because you did make breakfast for Joey", she said, taking a drink of her juice.
"And you", he said.
She nodded.
"I should go, work", she said.
He nodded. She grabbed her bag and made a cup of coffee to go. She turned and almost ran into him.
"Sorry", she chuckled.
He moved aside to let her pass.
"Joey, I'm leaving", Thea shouted upstairs.
"Bye mommy", he heard Joey's sweet voice reply to her mom.
"Be good for dad and listen to him.", Thea said.
He walked to the front door. She looked over at him.
"Bye", she said.
"Have a good day Thea", he said.
She smiled before leaving. Watching her drive off. Tiny arms hugged his leg and he looked down. A smile on his little girl's face.
"Ready", she said.
Dean grabbed his keys.
"Have to get to work. If you need help, call me if you don't have the guts to call Thea. I put her number in your phone under baby mama", Dean said.
Roman laughed.
"I'm kidding, also I put in Brie, Seth, and Renee's numbers. If anyone knows this little girl it's them", he said.
Roman nodded.
"Have fun, see you two later", Dean said, kissing the top of Joey's head.
Once Dean was gone, Roman looked at Joey.
"I say we do Sea World", Roman said.
"Yay", Joey was excited, jumping up and down.
Roman hadn't realized how much energy one little girl could have. She ran from one spot to another within a millisecond.
He lost sight of her once or twice, but he wasn't about to tell anyone else that. They would probably never trust him again.
They had seen the entire park in a few hours. He held her in his arms after she had rubbed her eyes and told him she was tired.
"I say we go home now", he said.
She nodded, hugging her stuffed, soft polar bear he had bought her.
"Roman", a voice called.
He turned when someone called his name. He put on a smile when he saw Sasha walk over to him.
"Sasha, hey", he said.
"What are you doing here?", she asked, her eyes going from him to the little girl in his arms.
"I brought my daughter", he said.
She looked confused.
"It's a long story, too long to tell it now", he said, chuckling.
She nodded.
"What are you doing here?", he asked.
"My sister brought her kids and so I joined them", she said.
Roman nodded. Sasha was one of the girls he had dated after his accident. She was great, but took everything too seriously.
"What's her name?", she asked.
"Joey", he said.
She made a face.
"Really?", she chuckled.
"You might not like it, but I do", Roman said.
Sasha nodded.
"So, are you doing anything after this?", Sasha asked.
"Yeah, spending time with her. She has me all day", he said.
Sasha nodded.
"You should call me sometime, we can have lunch and catch up. You can tell me the long story about this beauty", she said.
Roman really didn't want to call her. His focus was now hundred percent on his baby girl, the only woman he needed right now.
"Sure, yeah", he lied.
She nodded.
"Bye Joey", Sasha said, before walking away.
Joey waved at Sasha. A pout on his little girl's face.
"What's with the look?", he asked, tapping his daughter's chin.
He walked them towards the entrance.
"I want mommy", she said, rubbing her eyes.
He rubbed her back. Pulling his phone out, he called Dean, but he didn't answer.
He sighed and called Seth. He didn't really know the guy, but Joey looked about ready to cry.
"Hello", he answered.
"Hi, Seth. This is Roman, um, Dean said if I needed help with Joey that I could call you", he said.
"Is she okay?", he asked.
"She looks tired but she asked for Thea and..", he stopped.
"Yeah, she does that. She's sleepy, just hold her and she'll fall right to sleep", he said.
"And what happens if she starts to cry?", Roman asked.
"Call Renee and she'll run right over", Seth said.
"Okay, thanks man", Roman said.
"No problem", he replied.
He hung up with him and set Joey in the back seat.
"Hungry?", he asked.
She nodded and wiped her eyes again.
He kissed her forehead and got in his truck. Driving to a drive thru, looking in the mirror to see Joey sniffle.
"It's okay Joey, we're almost home", he said.
"I want mommy", she said, about ready to cry.
It tugged at his heart to hear her like that. Checking the clock and once he had his food, he drove to the school.
Parking, he walked into the office. A few of the women smiled.
"Roman? Wow, we haven't seen you in forever", a smiling blonde woman said.
