It's been two years after the defeat of HIM and Tokyo City was quiet so far. There were no villain attacks, monster attacks, nothing. After HIM, everyone who meant to cause harm to Tokyo City has stopped. The only crimes that took place were by regular joe schmo.
It was a sunny afternoon on Saturday. On the bench in a local park, Kaoru Matsubara sat waiting for her friends, Momoko Akatsutsumi and Miyako Gotokuji. Kaoru was wearing a green graphic t-shirt with a white skull on it, black bike shorts and green converse. She had her eyes on the blue sky, pondering over how much good her and the PPGZ have done for the city. "It's weird," she thought, "No monsters, no bad guys, no nothing. It all feels boring now. At least I don't have to wear that damn skirt as much."
"Kaoru!"
She looked at where the voice was coming from and saw her friends had finally arrived. Momoko was wearing a white shirt that had pink short sleeves, a blue skirt, pink sneakers and a pink heart necklace. Miyako was wearing a blue blouse, baby blue skirt, blue bracelets, a blue peace-sign necklace and black shoes. "Have you been waiting long?" asked Miyako.
"Nah, I've just been thinking," said Kaoru.
"What about?"
"Well, we finally defeated HIM, but it's weird not being able to fight anyone else except wannabe crooks."
"Are you kidding?!" Momoko said, "I'd take crooks over a HIM level threat any day."
"You said it Momo."
"You guys are a bunch wimps. So, can we go now?" Miyako and Momoko both nodded and the trio headed towards the destination: the movies.
As they were walking, they talked about school, boys (well Miyako and Momoko did), music and everything else. Suddenly, the ground trembled as a massive explosion was echoed through the city. "What the fuck was that?!" Kaoru asked.
"I don't know," said Momoko, " but we'll find out. Come on girls." They ran into an empty alleyway, transformed into their PPGZ forms and flew towards the explosion, leaving trails their respective colors behind. As they flew towards the smoke, Blossom noticed something...or someone. She glanced down and saw 3 dark figures with cloaks swiftly leaving the scene. "HEY!" she shouted as she flew towards them. She chased after them, speeding through town leaving a pink streak behind. Then all of a sudden, a dark purple sphere formed around the dark figures and they vanished into thin air.
Blossom stopped flying and hovered in the air, puzzled over what happened. Bubbles and Buttercup came up behind her shortly after. "Blossom, what did you see? Why did you speed off like that?" Asked Buttercup.
"I saw 3 dark figures leave the site like a bat out of hell. They were too fast and they somehow teleported before I could get a good look," Blossom responded.
"Maybe if we investigate the scene of the explosion, we might know more," Bubbles chimed in.
Blossom & Buttercup nodded their heads and all three of them flew back to the remnants of the explosion.
When the girls arrived at the scene of the smoke, they found that it was in the center of the city. There was a gaping hole, burrowed far beneath the city. Between the cracks, red & black flames were burning through. There was police barricade around the crater, while police officers were trying to keep civilians and reporters away from the scene. "Woah!" Buttercup said as she and the girls hovered in the sky.
"What could've done this?" asked Bubbles.
"Let's get a closer look. Come on girls," said Blossom. They flew down and landed on the street a feet or two away from the crater. As they walked toward it, they started to get goosebumps on their skin. Bubbles asked, "What's this weird feeling? My hearts beating faster."
"I don't know but be on your guard. We don't know what to expect," Blossom advised.
"Whatever it is, it's gonna get pounded into oblivion," said Buttercup. The people cleared a path for the girls and the officers let them through. Bubbles and Buttercup stayed back as Blossom went to the crater. Blossom stood right near it and peered down into it. There was nothing but darkness as it seemed to be miles deep. As she peered into nothingness, something seems to catch her eye. "Girls, I'm going down," she said.
"Wait WHAT?!" Bubbles screamed.
"Hang o-" Buttercup yelled, but before she could finish Blossom leapt into the crater.
