Melanie's Point of View-
Corey and I waited for Kevin to put rest of the bags into the trunk with our things, then they got into the car with us before Kevin drove us the distance to the airport. We parked in the long-term parking and headed into the actual airport where we checked in for our flight. We found our way to the terminal where we claimed a group of seats near each other, I began to feel my stomach to grumble and I stood up putting my carry on onto my seat. "I'm going to go grab some food, anyone else need anything?" I asked curiously as it was more of a reason to stretch my legs when Corey stood up.
"I'll join you." He said as Corey accompanied me to buy a banana from the store watching him buy one of those neck pillows and a magazine.
"You do this twice a weekend?"
"Yeah, so you can consider it like my third home?" He asked with a chuckle as I smirked.
"I guess so…" I said with a smile as we began to walk out of the store, "Why don't you just stay in Florida more instead of flying down there every weekend?" I asked.
"I like it here, and I need the extra income coming in amongst wanting to see you. Now that I have completed the additional training I needed through the company they are more willing to accommodate me living outside of Florida. Some dates they need me to stay down there for the duration of the week so the apartment comes in use." Corey explained as I nodded.
"Would you ever just settle in one spot rather than bouncing back and forth?" I asked as he let out as sigh.
"I think so, if I could at some point in my life but right now is not that time." He answered which was an okay, "But if we ever got serious enough, I would choose us moving to Florida permanently for many reasons." He stated as I smiled thinking the thought of us being more serious and being away from this area but it's also needed to see how I will handle this wrestling thing and how he is afterwards. "I see that smile, you would love to get out of this small town, huh?"
"I can't lie, I would love this past behind me…but are you sure you want to go with me?" I asked.
"Why wouldn't I?" Corey asked as I shrugged as he pulled me aside to sit in a terminal that wasn't our terminal.
"Because of my past, the damage it has done to my body and my issues he caused mentally as well." I said as I bit at my bottom lip as he smiled as I glanced up at him noticing the smile.
"Look, I don't care about your physical or mental scars. I'm not going anywhere and I will work through them with you. I also have physical scars from the wrestling thing I do and there are going to be nights where you will be waiting in the emergency room with me or for me."
"How often is that?" I asked nervously.
"Not as often as you were in the emergency room I presume, we have trained medics on site to do the small things but if it's something big then I would get a ride in the ambulance to the nearest hospital." He said as I began to get nervous for this whole thing, he was physically letting himself get hurt and I have gotten hurt enough in my life, I just didn't know if I could sit there watch him get hurt every night regardless if it was serious or not. "What's wrong?"
"I'm…I'm just trying to handle this…I've been the one that got hurt in my past relationship, physically beaten almost every day and now here I am going to watch you get hurt purposefully. I don't know how to feel about this…" I said honestly as Corey nodded as he let out a sigh.
"I completely understand, you watched the matches though? What did you feel?"
"I flinched with every punch and fall, of course I was concerned for your being…"
"How about this? I give you a signal when I'm okay?"
"Like what?" I asked as he smiled.
"I know where you are sitting in the venue so I will look at you and make eye contact with you…also, if it was something serious, like beyond serious where I can't continue on the referee will make an X with his wrists so if you do not see that then know I am okay…" He said as I nodded.
"I like that…I just want to make sure you are okay." I said as he smiled.
"I've been doing this for years baby, I'm still here…" He said with a chuckle as he gave me a hug holding me close to him, my arms snaking around his waist holding near to him and I liked this feeling. I don't think I could give this up because he oddly gave me these feelings I wasn't able to give up yet. "Come on, let's get back to the others." He said as he began leading me back to the right terminal where we sat in the seats we held with our bags. The wait to get boarded seemed to take forever, why did they tell you to arrive two hours early if all you were going to do was sit on your butt waiting for your flight? We began to board our flight, Corey and Kevin sat on either side of me as Anita and Jack sat in the row behind us.
"Is it too late to admit I've never flown before?" I asked as I glanced to Corey then to Kevin.
"You'll be fine, I've flown on enough flights to tell you nothing will go wrong." Corey said as I trusted him as my one hand gripped at the hand rest as they began to pilot us out and then began the takeoff process. Corey reached over peeling my hand off the arm rest holding it in his hand as his thumb rubbed against the back of my hand soothingly. The flight was the shortest, but longest process there was in this whole thing, but it went smooth as Corey let me glance onto his tablet watching Netflix with him, luckily we both liked that show which was great. Corey held my hand the whole way through the landing process, we then began to get off the plane. My eyes looking everywhere observing every single detail wanting to take in that I was in Florida, somewhere new and different. "How's this?" Corey asked as his hand slid into mine holding onto it tightly as I smiled.
"I like it so far, it better live up to the hype you gave it." I stated as Corey smirked.
"I promise it will." He said as I smiled as we walked through the airport to the baggage claim, Corey stood behind me with his arms wrapped around me, making me feeling protected and relieved that for the next few days I had no worries as to Alex showing up and finding me or anything like that. When I noticed my bag, I stepped out of Corey's embrace going to retrieve it to put it on the floor to roll behind me as Corey began to gather his bags off the claim. I went with him to retrieve our rental car for the weekend.
"I still can't believe you spend all this money, I don't get why you just permanently move here." I said as he smiled.
"I can't see you if I do that." He said with a smile as I blushed as he led me back to join the others who all had their bags by now. It was then an adventure to find our rental car heading out of the airport parking lot. Corey drove while Kevin and Anita let me claim the passenger seat as Corey drove the distance to his apartment.
"Are you sure all of us are going to fit in this apartment of yours?" I asked curiously as I looked at the building in front of us.
"I'm positive, don't you worry." Corey said as he shut the car off climbing out of the car as I let out a sigh getting out with the rest of the clan claiming my bags from the trunk following Corey up to this apartment he claimed will fit all of us and needless to say he was right. It was more of a loft or townhome than anything because it has three bedrooms and a spacious layout.
"Holy crap…I didn't realize it was going to be a mansion of an apartment." I said as I looked around the apartment that Corey had been renting.
"I told you we all will fit…" Corey whispered as he shut the door behind us locking it as Kevin, Anita and Jack walked past me going to the two spare bedrooms.
"If they get those two rooms, where will I be staying?" I asked with a sense of pride that I might actually have won then.
"In my room." He said as I bit at my bottom lip, "We can either share the room or I can take the couch, it folds out." He claimed as he led me to the master bedroom seeing the Cal King bed that looked to not be slept in what seemed like a few weeks. "You want to see something?" He whispered as I put my bag aside as I followed behind him to the window where he pushed the blinds open looking at the view he had, it was breathless. "Imagine waking up to this." He said as he glanced over to me with a smile.
"It's so beautiful Corey…" I said as I couldn't peel my eyes off the view." I stated.
"What do you say? We share?" He asked as I glanced back at the bed then back at him.
"I think we can deal for a few nights…hands off though." I said as he smiled.
"I'm a gentleman, remember?" He asked as I chuckled and rolled my eyes.
"Whatever Corey." I said as I headed back to my bag.
"I got it…" He said as he pushed past me grabbing my bag along with his bags taking them into his closet, I stepped into the door frame looking over the closet seeing just a few clothes that were hanging up.
"Why'd you even bring clothes if you had clothes here?" I asked curiously as I grabbed the one shirt that was hanging up looking it over liking the shirt wanting to steal it from his closet myself.
"Because I keep very little clothes here so I rather bring my own than bother and don't do laundry here often so it saves me on a lot of things." He said as I nodded understanding his logic, "Well we got to grab a quick lunch before I need to get to the venue." He said as I nodded, I wasn't sure why he needed to be there this early but it wasn't my place to question him.
"May I grab a quick shower?" I asked curiously as he turned around to look at me again.
"Of course, don't forget to wear my shirt." He said as I smiled.
"What else would I wear?" I asked sarcastically as he chuckled, he led me into the master bathroom where he showed me how to work his shower. I was in awe with this bathroom, it had a separate Jacuzzi type bath tub then a two person standing type shower, and it was beyond amazing.
"I'm probably going to order some pizza or Chinese, what do you usually like?"
"Pizza, I'll eat anything besides anchovies and pineapple and if Chinese I'll take noodles and some of that orange chicken or mandarin chicken." I said as he nodded.
"Got it." Corey said giving me this half ass Boy Scout salute as he headed out of the bathroom, I wasn't that far behind him as I headed in a different direction as I knelt down in front of my bag moving it to a laying down position. I zipped it open pulling out the perfect outfit for the night which included that shirt he gave me and headed back into the bathroom shutting the door behind me so I could have some privacy. I showered away trying to wash the worries and nerves that were slowly building at the anticipation of the wrestling show that was approaching more quickly than I had hoped. I had got dressed, towel drying my hair before I had headed out to the kitchen to eat some of the take out that Corey said he was going to order for everyone. "I like your shirt." Corey said with a smile.
"Me too, may I get one daddy?" Jack asked as he picked up a piece of rice with his finger and put it in his mouth.
"If you behave and eat your food properly then I'll think about it." Kevin said as I smiled and chuckled, we ate our lunch with small chit chat and I kept glancing at the red circular time telling device that was hanging on his wall as the time was ticking closer and I couldn't help biting my bottom lip or shaking my leg out of nervousness.
"I'm going to go freshen up, come on Jack let's go change out of our pajamas." Anita said as she stood up grabbing her plates and Jack followed suit behind her.
"Yeah, I should go finish getting ready." I said.
"May we share or are you hogging the whole room?" Corey asked as he took a sip of the canned energy drink he was drinking with his lunch.
"We can share for now." I said with a smirk as he chuckled, I took care of my things before heading back into the master bedroom to finish getting ready as Corey had stepped into the closet with me. "Do you wear your ring gear there or do you change there?"
"I change there but I always have to be dressed in a business casual manner." Corey said as he pulled down the dress slacks, button up shirt and blueish jacket to match, and oddly I couldn't wait to see him in that outfit.
"Why though?"
"Company policy…" He said with a shrug as he slid past me to go change, I didn't need to question him as I let out a sigh and returned to what I was doing before I headed out to the living room. I was the first one ready to go so I was glancing around his living room looking at the details. I looked at what he had in his apartment like magazines and the DVDs before I crept over to the sliding glass door slowly pushing the blinds open seeing an almost similar view from the bedroom. I pushed the door open and gently stepped out on the patio. I went up the railing looking out across the town before looking down momentarily then back up at the view before I psyched myself out due to my fear of heights. "Sweetie, we're leaving." Corey said as I looked back at him nodding as I ran a hand through my hair and he stepped out onto the patio with me. "You okay?" He asked concerned.
"Yeah…just nervous is all." I said truthfully as he smiled.
"Everything will be okay, trust me…if it ever gets too much for you tonight you can step out into the concession area or go backstage." Corey said as I nodded.
"I just…want to give this a shot but…what if I let you down?" I asked as I crossed my arms over my chest and just glanced down between us hearing a soft chuckle come from him.
"You won't let me down, I understand the circumstances and that wrestling isn't for everyone…" Corey said as I glanced up to him.
"How would that affect us? I don't want you have to decide between me and your career."
"What? I wouldn't ever put you or myself in that position…even if you can't stand wrestling, I would just be happy if you supported me doing it." He said as I nodded and I think I could do that regardless. "Come on, I don't need to be late." He said as I stepped inside letting him follow me inside before we headed back to our rental car to head to this so called venue he was going to be performing at tonight.
