Moroes
The first thought that appeared in the newly named Moroes' thought was
It's extremely cold.
The second thought was
Why is he in the snow in the middle of nowhere?!
If he remembers correctly, he got the modifier that had him start in the kingdom of Atlas…
But the thought was he was going to be dropped off in a city, not in the wild. Is it winter, or is it just naturally a snowy area?
…He's in a snowy area with almost no life around him, despite being a druid.
Well, either way, he hasn't even stood up yet, so he should do that…
Raising his head towards the daylight sky…
Is that a flying city?!
And there it was, a flying city beyond the small mountain that was ahead of him. It was complemented by a lot of air vehicles that definitely looked futuristic to him.
…This world is definitely set in a more futuristic era than my own earth, clearly indicated by the fact that none of the buildings on that floating city looked medieval at all.
And judging by the small bits of smoke beneath it, not to mention the wires that might be there to make sure the city doesn't fly away, there must be an additional city below it. Smoke is not the oddest thing in the world, but it does remind him more of an industrial era feel… Perhaps, if he has magic, then the city is upheld by magic as well?
Well, either way… That is likely his destination.
Deciding that enough was enough, he takes a more concrete look at his current situation.
He's definitely adjusted quickly to being in a new body. It feels as natural to breathe as he did in his former body. Although… The red feathers and green outlines do make me look painfully out of place.
Looking down at myself… I have clothes that I don't fully remember having on, but I suppose that's something I overlooked.
More importantly, my claws and talons… All looked fine. Including my beak. I would've thought I'd be more adverse to them, but I suppose they must've adjusted my mindset a bit to make me fit this body well.
Finally staring straight forward, I finally notice another holographic screen.
Quest obtained.

Interesting, interesting. Again, this all seems like a massive VR RPG game or something along those lines. But perhaps the good people over in Fair and Balanced Incorporated have a bias for this.
Or this could be an entirely necessary part of the reincarnation process but I suppose I won't know for a very long time. Either way, stats?

Ah… More acronyms, all in english.
…Speaking of english, it's been escaping my mind for a while now but… Wasn't Aodare and the admin both speaking english?
I speak only Japanese with limited experience in English, but I perfectly understood what they were saying…
Ah, if they handle multiple worlds, it would likely follow that they could easily implant some kind of translator inside of everyone's heads.
Yes, that is the likely scenario, nothing more to it.
Now, moving forward, all of the stats mean…
…
Well, there was a help menu down close to the bottom of the menu, I'm sure they'll tell me down there.
As for the abilities…
Abilities
[Villain Player's Mind - Allows the player to stay mostly calm in most situations. Nudges the player to do more villainous acts. Does not have the anti-mind control effect of the standard gamer's mind.]
[Player's Body - Uses the HP stat as a shield around your body, that when hit, transfers the damage to your Hp. Additionally, this HP shield applies to your opponents when turned on. Can be turned on and off, however, if your level is lower than that of the opponent's, then the opponent will always have their HP shield active.]
[Observe - Observe a target to see their stats.]
[I Control Life. All Life. - Manipulates all the plant life around you to your will. Causes your mana to drain extremely quickly. Speed increases as intelligence increases. Duration increases as wisdom increases.]
[Nature's Force - Creates a ball of natural energy to use as an attack. Damage and size is based on the amount of mana and cast time used. Deals nature damage]
[Transform: Land Travel - Transforms you into a creature of your choosing that is mainly used for land-based travel. Costs 10% of your mana. Creature may be fictional]
Quite interesting. It's a shame that the spell I obtained from a modifier can only manipulate plant life despite being advertised as all life, however, I control plants, all plants does not sound quite as good.
Speaking of which, I finally know why that spell sounds so familiar. It's similar to one of Geten's favorite catchphrases, was it not?
Geten had an extremely powerful ice related meta ability, and one of his signature catchphrases before his fights was 'I control ice. All ice.'
It had taken me being dumped into the snow to remember him… Ah yes, the memory of a much younger Geten being so excited at the snow and immediately decimating all of his training partners because, as he so casually likes to remind during the winter season, snow is also water, which can be turned into ice.
Fortunately for me, I avoided the outdoors during winter… I cannot say the same of my comrades who were buried in ice.
Hm, he was in Re-Destro's inner circle if I remember correctly. I wonder, did he survive the battle against Dabi?
I suppose I'll never know.
As for the other five spells, nature's force does sound quite generic, but I'll live. Although it might take some time to figure out how much mana I can safely use without running out too quickly, or how long of a cast time is too much cast time.
And as for the transformation I started out with, being able to turn into an animal that can let me travel faster is quite good. I'll likely use it on a regular basis until I obtain flight.
As for the other three extremely broad abilities… Well, I'm sure observe will come in handy. I'll just get used to whatever villain player's mind and player's body does. I'm sure it won't be that complicated.
Now, that, I believe, covers the stats section that I particularly care about, as everything else, I already know.
Now, let me see, the next menu is… Inventory.
Inventory
[Beginner's Staff - A wooden staff, made for beginners. Spells can be channelled from this weapon instead of your hands.
Welcome to the world.]
[FaBI's 4.0 PvP explanation device - A holographic device designed to explain the PvP system to people. All players already know this information if they were paying attention. Taking this item out of your inventory will duplicate it, however, only 1 copy of it can exist in your inventory at a time.
The Instruction Manuals! Do you have them!?]
An explanation device? How useful. I'll go through that after my beginner quest. As for the staff, that will be fine if I need to use it for whatever reason.
Now, how do I take that out…
As I thought of taking the staff out for testing purposes, it appeared in my hand.
Ah, thought based, once again. I suppose all of these are thought based, then?
With another thought, the staff disappears into my inventory. Quick, simple, and easy.
Putting that aside, quests?

Your purpose for existing is to kill the hero player, so kill them.
Objectives:
Kill the Hero Player.
Rules:
You must personally kill the other player. Minions are allowed as long as you can physically see the other player with your own eyes and participate in the battle.
If the other player dies due to his own mistakes, you win.
You cannot become friends with the other player. Being odd acquaintances while in battle is acceptable, but very on the line.
Getting a friend of a friend of a friend to call an assassin on another player counts as you not following the rules.
Breaking the rules will result in your loss. If both players are unwilling to fight each other, the world will be terminated and you back into the void.
If the players do not meet once in the span of a year, the match will be stopped and both players killed.
Rewards: Become a gamer.

Where am I?
Where are you? Find out now!
Objective:
Find the name of the place you're at.
Reward: Basic knowledge of the plot.
Hmm…
Interesting, so there is a sort of time limit on how long this match can go on for. One year. Although, I suppose if we meet once a year, we could postpone it forever… Although there would be no real advantage to that.
Aside from that quest that detailed my ultimate goal in this world, the dungeon quest and the find where I am quest seem fairly self explanatory… Although, the basic knowledge of the plot of the main story of this world does sound useful, even if I may not even encounter it for a long while.
He felt quite confident already, despite the only thing he's been doing for the past 5 minutes having been observing the area.
Moving on to the next menu…
Dungeons
[Solo Dungeon]
[Co-op Dungeon] Locked. Requires level 15.
Dungeons may only be used once every two weeks.
Explains absolutely nothing. I'll click more on it later. It's not like I need to actually use it for anything to count as progress for the quest.
Patch Notes
There are none!
As the 4.0 PvP system is intended to be the final version before full release, you're not expected to receive any patch notes.
…
Okay.
…Wait, did previous systems contain enough flaws within them to have to get fixed 4 times?
That… Does not instill me with confidence. However, if this is intended to be the last version, then it might be fine.

The help menu goes down far beyond abilities, and I do quite appreciate that they put in a large amount of information for me to read on.
For now, however, I'll simply read about the stats and dungeons.
Help
Stats
Stats in the stats menu, obviously, helps you strengthen yourself. However, due to the limitations of the standard system that every system in our universe is based off of, stats Do Not actually improve you mentally. Only endurance, dexterity, and strength has any actual effect on your body.
And if you are incapable of remembering or knowing English, here are the acronyms and what they mean.
Hp - Health Points. When your HP hits 0, you die.
Sp - Stamina Points. Physical abilities use SP as a resource. When SP hits 0, you cannot use any more physical abilities.
Mp - Mana Points. Magic abilities use MP as a resource. When MP hits 0, you cannot use any more magic abilities.
Vit - Vitality. Increases your health (HP). Used by everybody, so you should increase this stat whenever you can afford to.
Str - Strength. Increases your physical power. Mostly used for melee classes.
Dex - Dexterity. Increases your speed. Mostly used for rogue and ranger classes.
Int - Intelligence. Increases magic damage. Used for almost every mage class.
Wis - Wisdom. Increases mana (Mp). Used for every mage class.
End - Endurance. Increases stamina (Sp). Used by most classes except mage. Also increases toughness, which is somehow different from strength.
Luk - Luck. A vestigial stat that does almost nothing. Luck only shows itself after the stat goes into the thousands, and even then, does not do anything. Should only be raised if you have a lot of stat points to use and you're already winning by a lot.
A very interesting read.
So, the stats he needs to focus on are… Vitality, intelligence, and wisdom. Perhaps a little bit of dexterity and strength here and there so he doesn't get overwhelmed in a fight. And some endurance as well…
Hm, perhaps focus on mostly vitality and intelligence and allow for my +1 dexterity to handle that… Same goes for my wisdom, then.
So, dump my stat points into mainly intelligence and vitality until I'm at a comfortable level, where I'll then focus on a bit of strength and endurance.
…A glass canon, essentially. Perhaps a self healing glass canon, but no matter how fast glass can repair itself, it is still glass.
Ah well, perhaps I'll easily reforge myself into something more lasting quickly, considering my experience bonuses.
Dungeons
Dungeons are, of course, dungeons like any other MMO. Neat places you go to to get loot and beat up enemies. The quality and number of enemies in dungeons vary intensely, but you'll likely survive.
In addition, you unlock co-op dungeons at level 15, where you will be able to do special dungeons with 3 other random players from the same faction. You may interact with those players in any way you want, such as trading.
In previous versions, dying in dungeons resulted in the loss of your match, however, we have decided that it was a bit too punishing, so after dying in a dungeon, you simply lose 5 levels and get thrown out of the dungeon, initiating the 2 week cooldown.
This feels like information he should've had in the dungeons menu, but it may just be a way to reward players who read.
Or who knows, the creators of this system may just be incompetent.
Perhaps a bit of both.
Well, I'll read the rest of the help menu some other time, for now, I should finish up my starter quest.
Options
Pop ups - Verbal Text/Text Only. Currently set on Text Only. Can choose voice and font.
System Stylization - Standard.
Distinct Transformation Styles - Red and Green glow, Dark Red and Emerald Feathers.
Hm… I believe I won't touch that for now. Perhaps my distinct transformation style later on, but for now, nothing.
Quest completed.
Welcome to the world!
Reward: 1 gacha token, 300 exp, 1 universal crafting bench.
[Gacha Token - A stick that gives you a random item, from common all the way to divine. These gacha tokens are different to the standard gacha tokens, as these gacha tokens are created by FaBI and not the standard system. Crush to use.
May RNGesus light your path.]
[Universal Crafting Bench - All crafting can be done on this singular workbench. It would be recommended you don't lose this.
Behold! My stuff..]
You have leveled up 2x [Exp: 95/110] [Level 1 to 3]
Dex: 11 to 13
Int: 11 to 13
Wis: 12 to 16 [Mp: 400]
You have gained 8 stat points.
Ah, wonderful.
Quickly just invest half of that into vitality and the other into intelligence, then.
Vit: 10 to 14 [Hp: 280]
Int: 13 to 17
Alright. Now… I suppose I should use the gacha token.
Taking it out of my inventory and crushing it in my claws, the token lights up and, in its place appears…
[Corrupted Eye of Horus - Legendary - An Eye of Horus that has been corrupted. When placed into your eye, anyone you are in combat with will appear with a red outline, being able to be seen through walls, smoke, etc.
Walk like an Egyptian.]
Ah. How fitting… Although, why is it corrupted?
Hm… Perhaps if I actually knew what the eye of horus symbolized, I would know, however, the ability itself will do fine.
Placing it into his right eye took longer than it should've, but nobody was there to see it, so in his head, it is fine.
Now… The other quest involved going into a dungeon, so…
Solo Dungeon has been opened. Please enter the portal.
I'm sure the flying city will not leave, I have time.
Vlen Glem has been an honest man his entire life. Working on his farm in his local village, taking care of his wife and two daughters.
A simple life any man from his times could ask for.
Until one simple morning out farming…
A massive light came out of nowhere and…
Well, he's not a very devout religious person like a lot of his other friends, but he thinks God may have transported them somewhere else.
Like, the entire village, gone to another location in a forest.
After a town meeting, everyone decided to stockpile on food and try to figure out what's happening…
Which was when the freaky black creatures started to appear.
…Perhaps it wasn't God who brought them here, but Satan disguising as God? Could Satan disguise his unholy arts as something from God? That light was pretty bright…
Either way, the black creatures started to appear and started killing everyone… Fortunately, his family is at the back of the town, so they were fine. The same cannot be said for some people he's known for years…
This massacre continued until some people wearing fancy clothes and weapons arrived and cut down those spawns of Satan!
Clearly, this is simply a trick from Satan himself, and these… Hunters are just disciples of God helping us lambs towards enlightenment!
Perhaps I should start praying to God every day like everyone else does.
Stepping into the portal, he was confronted by the sight of…
Is he in a coliseum?
Looking around himself, he confirmed that he was in some sort of… Ancient European coliseum, and the audience seemed to be… Full of antmen? No, he's pretty sure there are other species here too, however, the majority seemed to be some sort of humanoid ant creature.
Dungeon: Zavvox's Coliseum.
Zavvox's Coliseum?
"MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION, PEOPLE OF OUR GREAT CITY!" Someone from up in some sort of announcer's booth shouted.
Ah… I'm the challenger, than.
"HERE IS OUR CHALLENGER, A NEWBIE FROM MY HERO ACADEMIA, RECENTLY GRADUATING TO BECOME A PVP PLAYER, HIS VERY FIRST DUNGEON IS HOSTED BY US! WELCOME, MOROES!"
The audience started to cheer and I did feel a bit more confident knowing the audience wasn't completely against me.
"AND HIS OPPONENT, ONE OF OUR MASTER'S VERY OWN CREATIONS, HERE COMES THE JELVILANT!"
The audience started cheering harder for the opponent than me, and it did hurt my confidence a bit, knowing they were more on their master's side than my own, despite it being a completely reasonable thing.
As for my opponent who is currently walking out of the gate…
Wait, is that… Some kind of a corrupted, purple fleshy panda?
Using observe on it… It's level 5.
Some decent stats, however, mostly unintimidating. With the exception of it having 450 health.
Well, I suppose this is just a first dungeon. Even if my first enemy is some sort of boss, it should be fine…
"YOU MAY BEGIN!"
The corrupted panda roared and immediately charged towards me, and my first reaction was to hold my hands towards it and use nature's force on it with about 1% of my mana and no cast time.
It flies immediately towards its face and lands, dealing…
5 damage dealt.
Jelvilant [Hp: 445/450]
Completely worthless amounts of damage.
Rolling out of its way using my muscle memory from my time in the MLA, I decide to use 1% of my mana again, but use 2 seconds to cast. Fortunately, the boss seems to only ever charge in one direction, allowing me to hit it easily.
19 damage dealt.
Jelvilant [Hp: 426/450]
I smirked at the increased damage. (Looking back, all he did was raise his cheeks to raise his eyes. Beaks are very counterintuitive to smiling.)
So, a longer cast time, even with 1% of my mana, tripled my damage…
I believe using 5% of my mana with about 10 seconds of cast time should, at the very least, knock half its health out.
After dodging its next attack, I started to charge my attack.
Jevilant attempted to charge again, however, my former comrades were probably faster than this, so I dodged without much issue again.
And so I fired my shot.
88 damage dealt.
Jelvilant [338/450]
Dopamine clearly still exists within my brain, because I feel extremely satisfied landing the shot, although I am slightly disappointed it didn't live up to expectations. However, watching a big number go down is satisfying nonetheless.
After dodging the next charge, the panda being clearly slower than before due to the force of the attack, I decide to indulge myself using half my mana and charging for 2 seconds.
The resulting blast was a lot larger than the previous 3 nature's forces.
520 damage dealt.
The dopamine exploded inside of my mind.
Even if he was a complete novice at this system thing, and gaming in general, there is a universal sense of satisfaction at doing a big number.
Jelvilant has been killed.
You have received: Zavvoxian Essence.
[Zavvoxian Essence - Essence dropped from a creature created by Zavvox, The Warrior God of Old. Essence can be used as a substitute for any dark/evil material in crafting.]
How… Interesting. Zavvox, the warrior god of old?
…It sounds suspiciously close to something a child would come up with.
And since it didn't appear in front of me, I assume it went directly into my inventory.
"OH! AND THAT'S A MATCH! THAT SHINY NEW DAMAGE SYSTEM REALLY DOES REMIND ME OF THE GLORY DAYS OF OUR MASTER!"
The noise of the coliseum starts back up inside my head, and I absently realize that the audience must've been talking during the match…
…Ah, I suppose non-stop must've been slightly hampering my situational awareness during the fight. As long as it doesn't interfere with the fight itself, it might be fine to let it be.
"WELL MOROES! YOU CAN GET YOUR REWARDS WHEN YOU GET OUTTA HERE!"
A new portal opens in front of me, as well as a text box saying the same thing.
…Well, that was quite fun. I did quite like the attention…
?
"Greedy children must be punished!"
"DUDE WHY DID YOU HAVE TO GET SO MANY WORLD MODIFIERS?!"
"IT WASN'T THAT MUCH!"
The floor explodes right behind them.
"WHY IS HE EVEN ON THE MODIFIER LIST?!"
"SHUT UP AND KEEP RUNNING!"
"THIS IS ENTIRELY YOUR FAULT!"
"Greedy children must be punished!"
Moroes

[Lunar Beam - Shoots a beam using the power of the moon directly from the sky to your enemy. Damage is based on how much mana is used. Cast time is always instant. Deals double damage at night.]
And do the same thing as last time…
Vit: 14 to 30 [Hp: 600]
Int: 25 to 41
Wonderful. I now have more health than the enemy I just fought.
Hopefully, that gives me a bit of leniency in getting hit instead of it being mostly for show.
…I should invest in my physical stats on my next level up.
Now, onto my new abilities, my new transformations sound decent if I'm ever stuck in a close quarter combat situation…
If I ever get into those.
And lunar beam sounds like something I can rapidly use during the night, so unless if I'm never awake at night, it should be used fairly often.
Now…
I believe it is time for me to check out the flying city…
"Is it gone?"
"...I think so?"
"...Sicias."
"...Yeah?"
"I hate you right now."
"...Okay that's fair."
Moroes
As it turns out, I was correct in the assumption that there was a city underneath the flying one.
It also has a wall for some reason…
Well, perhaps it was a relic from an ancient era.
After all, walls have mostly gone out of fashion since modern artillery could destroy anything easily, not to mention the appearance of quirks that could destroy towns.
Circling around the wall for a minute, he eventually finds the entrance to the city.
Unfortunately, it was blocked off, and in front of it were two armed human guards. Fortunately, they did not seem to be paying much attention, so he was able to avoid detection as he thought about his next action.
Either, he walks up to them, in broad daylight, and hope that they don't shoot him, hoping that non-humans, at the very least, existed in this world.
Or perhaps he could try his hand at climbing the steep wall… Or perhaps attempt to transform into a small animal?
…Hm, it's either to try my luck, or to stealth into the city and… Forcibly interrogate someone for information, which may not be good in the long run, as this world seems to be technologically advanced enough to find me easily.
I believe…
I should go in through the front and get some information that way. If they start shooting, then I have no choice but to kill them and hope for the best.
And so, here he is, a birdman, walking towards two humans armed with some sort of weaponry.
The guard on the right notices me, pauses, and alerts his partner.
"Uh, hey, dude, did I drink too much last night?" he says while tapping his partner on the shoulder.
Ah, English again, yet I can understand him perfectly.
The other guard takes notice of me…
And starts laughing.
"HAHAHA! OH MY GO-HAHAHA!" Nearly dropping his gun out of laughter, "DID YOU- HEHE- DID YOUR MOM-HAHA- FUCK A BIRD?! HAHAHA"
Ah, so they were just racist, but I suppose their nonchalance at my general existence means there are other people like me…
…Although, they might look more human, based on his reaction.
The slightly more sensible guard winces, and looks back to me, "Er, and you're here for…?"
"I'm here for information, mostly. Could you mind telling me the world, continent, country, and city we're in?" I asked politely, not beating around the bush.
The guard looks confused, "Uh, wouldn't you already know that, though?"
"Please, just answer my questions. It is relatively harmless, yes?" I press, pointedly ignoring the second guard's continuing laughter while noting that, despite the fact we're speaking two different languages, we understand each other.
It seems as if my translator theory is correct.
"Uh, we're on the planet of Remnant, on the continent of Solitas, in the Kingdom of Atlas, outside of Mantle, which is under Atlas." The guard answers, still not quite understanding why I would need the information.
I thanked the guard and asked, "May I be let in, then?"
The guard looked at his partner, "Uh, are you okay with people acting like him? I mean, Faunus already have a bad rep here, if you were to come in…"
Faunus? Name noted. "Thank you for the concern, however, I believe it is nothing I cannot handle."
The guard shrugged, "Your decision, then."
He walked over to the little voice box to the side of the gate, said something to it, and moments later, the gate to Mantle opened.
"Thank you," I said before flashing the signature MLA sign, "I do quite hope you're liberated."
And so, I entered the city.
Quest Complete!
Where am I?
Objective: Find out where you are.
Reward: Basic knowledge of the plot.
…RWBY?
What the hell is that?
…Become a huntress?
…Ah, to become what's essentially a hero…
…To fight off the grimm?
Ah, that must be what I added to with one of my modifiers.
Hm, that is some decent information. If I ever encounter Ruby, I will probably stay on her good side, as that is usually the best decision any non-main character can make in a manga or anime.
Still though…
He takes in the scenery of the city, the city looks quite bleak to him, despite himself living in a country where concrete swallowed the skies.
There is something depressing about an industrial era city feel, despite it also being accented with some more modern and even futuristic elements such as the few skyscrapers that dot the area.
Nothing quite as massive as Tokyo, however.
Perhaps, since this is the Kingdom of Atlas, the city of Atlas, which I presume is the floating city, has a more impressive view, however…
Looking up at the sky…
It does pale in comparison, in scale alone, to any major Japanese city.
Perhaps these grimm creatures are an effective population control? Perhaps this world only has a billion population.
He starts to hear laughter around him, presumably directed at him for essentially being a bird.
…Those must be the ones that the guard outside mentioned.
Ah, even between worlds, there is nothing more humanlike than making fun of those with mutation quirks.
An:
I wrote the 1st chapter at like, what, 1 AM listening to the Hamilton soundtrack. And now here I am, writing the second chapter at 4 AM, listening to the Genshin soundtrack.
Which is why I kind of regret the 1st chapter a slight bit, because I forgot that I wanted to have Moroes go for a 3rd class instead of the extra exp thing, but I guess 1 AM me works in mysterious ways. But since I uploaded the chapter, I guess the extra exp route is the one we're going with.
Now, this was a 5k chapter that mostly consisted of stats, so the next couple of chapters will likely decrease in word count, however…
I still have no plan. I haven't watched RWBY at all and my only knowledge of this place is 'mantle poor atlas rich.' and kinda know a few names like Robyn or something, who is doing something illegal for some reason?
I should work on my wiki diving.
So anyways, what I'm trying to say is, if you have something to share, please give a review, because I'm kind of desperate.
My current plan is to have Moroes figure out what the hell is up with the world and figure out aura exist, and once he figures out aura = soul or something, he wants to liberate everyone's aura.
How does he do it?
I haven't thought that far yet, but it probably includes a lot of Moroes doing speeches and trying to make racist people too scared about the grimm to care about him being a big bird?
Like I said, I have no clue what I'm doing.
In all likelihood, Moroes will probably leave Mantle for a while to fight some Grimm just to check out the difficulty level of those guys.
I'd also like to say that, instead of having no clue what the opponent is, I actually have a decent idea on what I wanna do with them. Go me.
And like I said, reviews would be nice, but completely optional. I don't leave any reviews on anything either.
[This google doc has been on my tab for like 5 days, and I could've finished it a lot sooner if I wasn't such a lazy ass.]
[Thank you for the vote of confidence, anyone who decided to favorite or follow my fic on chapter 1 despite my track record.]
