Fates pov present time after someday.
The blood is stored safely in the fridge. I set about cleaning the house. Cleaning the energy out. The fact I was technically dead for five days kept gnawing at me. If you would have asked me a year ago, I'd tell you I was ready.
Time had taken its toll on me. It wasn't until Victoria betrayed me that my will to live was spurred. I looked at myself in the mirror. I looked rough. The hole in my stomach hadn't begun to feel full.
I could fix that. I ran out into the night. His scent mixed with another covered the land. He had been here mere minutes before I arrived. I wasn't in the mood to see him. I didn't need to see the pity in his eyes. Since he's read those damn journals. That's all I've picked up, an abundance of regret and something else. I'm not sure.
But one thing I know. I've wasted enough time. They've met already. I didn't even have a chance to prove my case. During a council meeting, all violence is banned. It's meant as a way to stem war. It wouldn't have been just my kingdom in attendance either. There are others.
There's one, in particular, I haven't thought about in quite a long time. Elijah. I'm not looking forward to having both my Ex husbands meeting. If Jasper is on the right path. As I'm sure he is. He will have already found him or close.
I ran towards the Cullens property. I was staking out the place. He didn't seem to be here. Good. Neither was Edward. I took this time to break in. There was something I left here. I was inside Carlisle's office. I was intrigued by how far he got. I watched the recording of my affliction. It wasn't the first time I'd seen it. The rest of my vomit was bagged up in a fridge.
"I wondered when you would be back."
"I see you've managed to figure it out."
"At what term did your fetus fail?"
"When I ripped it out of me."
"Excuse me? You did what?"
"I'm not telling you how my child died Carlisle. I'm taking these samples and destroying all evidence of my affliction."
"My son seems to believe your blood can heal creatures. That you descended from witches able to cure werewolves."
I whipped my head in his direction. I knew of my mother's bloodline. But only so much. Where had Jasper obtained? It dawned on me. There's only one person on this planet that knows more about my mother than I.
"He found Louis."
"Your husband too."
I couldn't help myself. A deep belly laugh burst out. Of course. Not only am I closer to dying than I thought, everything I hoped didn't happen. Happened!
"That's just great. Was he ok?"
"He took my door off. What are you still doing in my territory?"
"I told you."
"You're not here for that. Besides, you can have them. I have multiple recordings and photographs."
"Writing a dissertation?"
"Finding a cure. That reminds me. I need samples of your blood and bone marrow. "
"Let's say I entertain this notion you can cure me or are you looking for something else?"
"Both. I'm not particularly fond of you, but I see your benefits. You can stay here, under my protection, and you give me whatever I ask."
"Throw in cadaver meat and you've got yourself a deal."
"I'll see what I can do. If you're looking for him, both he and Edward just left. They are going to see Isabella. "
"What's his deal?"
"They seem to believe that your curse."
"Curse?"
"You really don't know?"
"Look asshole."
"I suggest you speak to Jasper. He can explain it clearer than I can."
"No thank you. Please don't make me ask again."
"It has to do with Elijah, something about you being a hybrid. A mixture of what we are and whatever he is. That he's some type of cursed undead witch.
The tribe your mother came from was aided by his own. Jasper didn't say what tribe just that your mothers were located in the Congo.
While Elijah hails from some Viking tribe. His mother cursed them. Sacrificed children to a god. The rest I don't know... you should talk to Jasper. "
What Carlisle was saying was connecting dots I didn't even know I had. I knew Elijah held the same affliction. What I hadn't known was his connection to me. To my mother. I searched through Carlisle's brain.
I witnessed the memory first hand. Felt the emotions Carlisle held as he consoled Jasper. It was hard not to feel guilty. I took one last look at the slide watching my cells eat themselves.
"How long have I got?"
"I'd give it six months. If I can't cure you. I'm not looking forward to what it will do to my family. I'm not sure if you understand what that means. Destina. Why would you come back here? "
"I don't know! I just. I don't know what I'm doing. I'm changing things I never meant to. The things I need to change keep getting worse! I just... I don't want to die."
"I'll do what I can."
"Why? Why do you care so much?"
"He's my son. I love him and I will do everything in my power to protect my family. If that means I must accept you, then so be it."
"I don't understand. They don't know me! Why would you all do that? Why would you vote? I was leaving! None of this would be happening if you all just said no."
"Do you know you? Jasper said you've lied about everything! What about you is true?" I was stunned silent.
"You want to know what I see?"
"What do you see? What could you have possibly learned after spending a week knowing about me?"
"It's been over a week. As for what I've noticed is you are a child! A selfish hurt child at that.
You attack out of fear and use your abilities as walls to protect yourself from being hurt. Jasper wasn't the only one to read those books.
Since being in my territory you have single handily captivated the entirety of my family. Whether you've gathered their complete and utter paranoid rage or blessing. You've captivated them nonetheless.
Threatened the Volturi. As my wife put it, backed our play. Saved not only one but two members of my coven. But you know what caught my attention the most. You managed to decimate an entire army by yourself. You didn't need us. So again why are you here? "
"Sven turned to crystal in my womb. You can think your son for Elijah having to cut our unborn child out of my dying body."
"I'm sorry."
The emotions on his face seemed genuine. I took one last look before turning to leave once more.
"Please use the front door. "
I opened the window and dropped down. I landed and dashed off into the forest. The information mulling over in my mind. The things Carlisle told me shattered walls. The emotions were threatening to spill. I caught the scent of a wolf. I chased after it until I finally sank my teeth into it.
I easily ripped its fur back exposing the flesh and organs. I feasted on its liver, lungs, and heart. After I thanked the earth for its offering. Wailing up to the sky until the fires blazed. It had been so long since my flames raged out of control.
A ring of fire burned all vegetation about twenty feet out. I hadn't heard the footsteps. A fire extinguisher put out the flames. Whoever it was hopefully they made it quick.
"This is pathetic."
"Rosalie?"
"Yes, idiot. Get up and stop crying. You have some interesting friends, that Benjamin of yours."
"Ben was here?"
"Yes. At least I think so, it's mostly a blur. However, he seems to have messed with Edward. What are we going to do about this situation?"
"You should make up your mind. You want me gone or not."
"Looks like that's out of my hands. I'm not one to argue with Alice and her visions. They are pretty damn accurate."
She helped me up from the ground. I cleaned my face of blood.
"You stink so bad. Did you need to scarf down a mutt?"
"I'd prefer a grown man but beggars can't be choosers. Your sire seems to believe that all of you see me like family. "
"More like we're forced to accept you because our bother has some issues. You're going to help me clean up this mess you've made. If you don't want my brother, fix it! Otherwise, clean yourself up, find him, and makeup. I'm sick of the soap opera."
"Why did you vote for me. I know I saved your life but that can't be all. I mean even after Alice told you the truth. You saw the way she looked. You tossed her under the bus. Why not fight against it?"
"What part of her visions come true don't you understand. Welcome to the coven bitch." She began to walk off away from me.
"Are you coming or not?"
I followed her. She led me to her car. A rather pretty BMW. I hopped in and she took off.
"I'm sorry about your dad."
"Thanks, I'm sorry about your husband."
"I'm not."
She turned on the radio. A smile curled across her lips. Rosalie and her past were tainted with vile men too. She hunted them down for her vengeance. We pulled up outside Bella's house.
I noticed her father's car wasn't in the drive. However, Edwards shiny Volvo was. It didn't take long to hear the words being echoed through the house. Rosalie reached for the door but it was opened by Jasper. She walked past him, she turned to gaze at me before shutting the door.
"I spoke to Carlisle. He informed me that I needed to speak to you."
Jasper walked right past me. I took that as an invitation to follow him. He stole Rosalie's keys. I hopped back in the car and he took off before the door was even shut. He handed me his phone. It was opened to a realtor's website. The house in question was the home I shared with Elijah.
"I saw it in person. You did a wonderful job with the architecture. French-inspired." His tone rose barely above a whisper. This hurt him more than anything I presume.
"I heard you spoke to him."
"Your father too. He's an acquired taste. He still lives on the property, you know that? Stuck. Have you been?"
"Once." He's testing me. Making sure I won't lie to him.
"I saw. The property hasn't changed. It was like walking in a time capsule. All those bones left to rot. We're going to fix that."
"Jasper. Let me out of the car."
"You open that door. I promise you, I'll run you over. You're going to sit in this car and you're going to listen."
"Jasper you can't be serious. Let's pullover. I promise..." The way his eyes looked told a story of great pain and deep unstableness.
"I got a visit from your friend."
"Rosalie told me. Benjamin stopped by."
"Not that one. Peter. Yeah, he stopped by and told me a secret. Did you know my best friend was in love with you?"
"No."
"Well, he is. Peter. My blood brother feels envious of me. Oh, and speaking of Benjamin he gave Edward alcohol poisoning and manipulated his abilities.
He wants him to keep searching for something. He seems to believe that you are changing the very fabric of reality. Changing the creature world forever."
"Wow. I hadn't known that."
"You expect me to believe you had no clue?"
"Jasper all of this is news to me. I don't know if you knew or not but I've been dying. So most of my time has been spent trying not to do that."
"No. Your time has been spent toying with my life. That's what you've been doing. Now. How are you feeling?"
"Like shit. Your adoptive father just told me I have about six months left to live."
"I am sorry."
"You're not. You're just sorry I'm hurt. You're not sorry you have me."
"Oh, I still have you? Could have fooled me. I thought I was your weakness."
"You are."
"Benjamin seems to believe you just being around me makes you better. Why is that? Hmm?"
"I think that's a lie. Since I've been around you nothing but hell has happened. You're getting divorced. And I'm dying quicker than I can manage. Mostly because I ran out of potion."
"Have you seen Peter yet? He had a whole crate."
"Yes. He brought them by. It's that he's being watched and can't keep getting them to me without exposing himself."
"I tried getting the ingredients out of Benjamin. He refused to tell me."
"He's gotta run a business, Whitlock."
"Alice is after you. She's retracing my steps I think."
"Trying to find out about me. I know. She kept asking me to tell her about us. She's obsessed."
"Like Claudia." I glared daggers at him.
"Oh, I know the story."
"I don't think you do. Not the whole one. Your father, Louis Dubois, hails from a line of Vikings? This particular tribe mingled with another down in the Congo."
"Carlisle told me this part already."
"As I was saying, this particular tribe mingled with another down in the Congo. They held a relationship with each other. Even traded slaves. There was this family in the Viking Tribe that held slaves from that particular region for many centuries.
I'm not sure how they came about owning these witches but they did. However, this changed all because of one witch. Åse was her name. I'm not sure if you've heard of her, she's your mother-in-law.
She decided enough was enough. They had been hunted down by their enemy long before their latest trip to the Congo. It got really bad once the wolves realized by draining the blood of some of those witches. It healed them of their curse. So she searched far and wide for a spell to eliminate them. To not only help her tribe but her Allies as well.
The ingredients were interesting. It required her blood. Which it was your father that informed me this is called Diablerie. Blood magic, if you will.
The second was the heart of her lover. This still isn't the worst part of this story. The last ingredient. Was her child. Not just hers but the children from both tribes.
The children sacrificed came back. As if they had been reborn. He detailed some graphic shit, the gist of it being. They rose from the dead and ate their family members. This spell wasn't just any old spell. No. It was linked to a god. This god offered the tribe the best weapon it could.
An undead army of breeding witches. They ran out into the world, choosing to never speak of what happened that night. Some went on to create empires while others bound themselves and tried to breed the curse out.
This is where you come into play sweetheart. Some of those slaves. The ones from the Congo. They escaped that night. However not for long. You see an ancestor of yours found the decedents of those who escaped and enslaved them once again. Those slaves had children on a plantation in Louisiana.
Powerful witches were birthed on a piece of land owned by another set of extremely powerful witches. Dormant but yet still powerful. Your husband seems to believe that it's because of this curse. That they are drawn to one another. So drawn that even though it was forbidden they still managed to be together.
This resulted in the birth of a child. Not just any old kid either. No, she held the blood of these two ancient lines. One with the ability to heal. Cast fire. And do some other shit no doubt. While the other one, regardless of its dormant trait made the child immortal. Not just immortal but hungry. Much like those ancestors of hers long ago.
The kicker is as this creature feeds. The stronger they become. Well besides the fact if you don't your skin will slough off. My working theory is as you feed, you're feeding the god that 'blessed' you.
I was let in on another secret. Mr. Casimer seems to believe that the curse had side effects. Pain. That it will take all love from the creature's life, the more powerful they become the more love lost. His words being' The true sacrifice of power is love. It will suffocate under the clenched fist of control. It can't flourish in darkness.' However, my theory has more to do with those original ingredients. The heart of your lover, your child, and blood.
I came to this conclusion by looking at the state of Louis and myself. Both two men fell madly in love with extremely powerful women. The love went dormant for a time though. For Louis when he was sent away from Magnolia. And I when I thought you dead.
During this time away, we both met lovers. Claudia and Alice. The most interesting part though was that once we came in contact with those powerful witches once more. We were cast under a spell of deep manic love. And our wives? Under a spell of deep manic hatred. Only settled by blood, the loss of a child, and the heart of your lover. Louis seems to believe the curse is triggered by unfaithfulness. I think that's religious influence."
"Claudia didn't become violent with my mother until Elisabeth informed her of my parent's affair."
"You sure about that? Why don't we go ask the source."
" what about the other ingredients? Blood and the kid. "
"Didn't Claudia lose children?"
"Yes, but you didn't."
" You did. I don't think it cares who it takes. Just as long as it has a victim."Jaspers's voice got quiet as he said those words.
"I'm sorry about Alice.
"I'm sorry about Elijah."
"I'm not. I'm not surprised that fucker knew more than he let on. "
"He's in New York if you want to see him."
"I know where he is. I've known where you've been too."
"You really didn't know?"
"No. I meant it when I said I've been dying. A lot of my memories have been leaving me, that's what those journals are for. The years before that, well, something started happening. I started losing the taste for blood. I became empty almost. "
"Do you want to live?"
"Yes!"
"Good. Elijah told me how to fix it. "
"Are you two just buddy-buddy now?"
"He said the power you hold is unnatural. Because of my venom still mutating inside you. It's disruptive to your DNA. You're eating yourself. I assume the same thing is happening with your magic.
Peter told me about your hands. Becoming paralyzed... stone. "
"That's not the only thing."
"I'm sorry okay. Let's just fix it."
"How, you said it's my DNA. How the fuck do we fix that?"
"You have to bind yourself. The reason your father is still alive is because his magic is gone. I'm not sure about Elijah."
"I know for a fact that bastard still has his powers. He wanted me to bind myself years ago."
"Why?"
"So I could give him children. It's why I left. After..., one was enough for me. I cut out my uterus instead. "
"Of course you did. I knew it would be futile, I figured I'd at least ask."
"Ok, so can you pull over then. I'm not in the mood to see him."
"Nope. You owe me this from all those years of lying. Take a nap, we'll be driving for a while."
"Can we get some snacks?"
"I could hit some roadkill but Rosalie will kill me if I fuck up her car."
I connected my phone to her Bluetooth. If I'm forced to be here might as well enjoy it. He sped along the back roads. Took shortcuts most of the way. We both sat in silence the only thing speaking was the radio. I went to turn it off and my hand brushed against his.
"Sorry."
"I forgot how warm you feel."
"It's the blood."
"It's you."
"Jasper."
"It's is. You were always so warm. Alarmingly so. Are you still hungry?"
"I can't stomach anything right now."
"Why are you afraid of him?"
"I'm afraid of becoming him. I came by to see him. I don't know why. Maybe it was curiosity but after watching him become this. I knew I couldn't let myself become what he is."
"You couldn't let yourself fall in love. Maybe that's why it's killing you. You're fighting against the curse. "
"So what? I eat you and then I'm cured?"
"Elijah, me, maybe even Bella."
"God not you too. Look tell the pretty boy I don't want his girl. "
"She wants you."
"To help her kill Aro, I know."
"It's more than that."
"How do you know?"
"Why do you think we were at Bella's in the first place? Besides, Benjamin spoke about you possibly getting your nose wet."
"Why is my most trusted friend speaking to you and not me about all these possibilities he's seen?"
"Because he loves you and doesn't want to bury his sister. I told you he genuinely believes I'm an answer to all this."
"I'm sure he does. He's been trying to get me and you together since he found out about you. "
"It could be the Venom. It seems whatever you are has a mate too. But so do we."
"So you're saying I have two?"
"You loved Elijah enough to build our house and live with him in it."
"It wasn't our house Jasper. You wanted a cottage in France. I made a French home in New York."
"Do you hear yourself?"
"Yes god. I'm sorry ok. We met after you got married. I was lonely and jealous. I didn't expect to fall in love with him but I did. The house was. It was a nod at what I could have had. He knew. He knew about you. He knew where my heart lies ok. "
"That explains how he knew my name. He told me you sent divorce papers. "
"I had his name removed from mine years ago. We haven't seen each other since he tracked me down in the 80s. From what I heard he's about to remarry."
"Really? From the looks of things he's still holding a torch."
"Aren't we all Jasper? You for me. Edward for a girl that's clearly gay or at least doesn't want him. Don't get me started on the wolf boy. "
"You're a talented artist. You captured my essence quite well. You do that from memory?"
"I've told you how I feel Jasper."
"I don't think you have." Jasper brought my hand to his lips and placed a kiss on my pulse.
"What are you doing."
"I love you. Stay with me. Let's fix this, we will figure it out."
"Jasper, you're married."
"Not for long." His lips continued up my arm. Placed light kisses as he spoke.
"I'm not giving up my magic."
"Then stay with me until you die. We can go together. I can't... I've since learned I can't live without you."
"What if it's just the curse? What if you don't actually love me?"
"I've loved you since I laid eyes on you."
His lips shuttered as he laid them on my neck. He felt the warmth underneath my skin begging for a taste. His words of desire whispered as sweet nothings in my ear. I was beginning to lose. Why fight it? I've loved him all these years even after all my pain. I've yearned for him. Why not give in? It's not like I have much longer to live anyway.
"Yes."
The car stopped. We were on the side of the road. Jasper pawed at me needing more. More skin to touch. My bloody shirt was lifted off, the remaining of stain was licked from my body.
It had been so long since a man has touched me. So long since I allowed myself to fully be present during sex.
"I love you."
Jasper whispered into my hair as he prepares me. His fingers moved slowly, deftly caressing my insides. Twisting and curling. I moaned into his shoulder, my nails digging into his back.
"Fuck put it in already."
He laughed. It reverberated into the night. The sun would rise soon. I gazed up into his amber eyes. I touched his face and for but a moment they changed color. A brilliant Juniper green. I certainly had a type.
I kissed his nose and then his lips. His tongue slipped past my lips. His fingers seemed to reach angles that made me shiver and shake with anticipation. Suddenly I felt the familiar stretch. His thick penis pushed past my walls.
The sheer girth and temperature made my body tingle. Our bodies fit together like lost puzzle pieces. He began a tempo. It was slow and steady. The noises this man makes have always excited me. The growls and moans of pleasure.
He lifted me onto his lap. My ass kept beeping against the horn. After a few laughs about it, we ended up outside on the hood. I was bent over the side with him pounding into me. His nails scratched down my spine.
His freezing cock kept hitting that perfect angle over and over until I screamed into the hard metal. My legs shook as both our cum leaked down my legs.
He kissed all over my body. Once I was able to stand I moved off the hood and got on my knees. I lapped at our juices, his fingers rested in my hair tugging. My tongue circled the tip teasing it.
"Baby," Jasper begged.
I winked at him. I spelled him. He would soon begin to feel the sensations of someone biting his nipples. I dragged my nails down his thighs. He shuttered.
I sank his cock into my mouth. Bobbing my head up and down. Twisting my head as I neared the tip. I wanted every drop. I needed every drop he could shoot.
Whispers inside his mind would begin to tell him to give in. To release.
Soon enough thick ropey spurts leaked down my throat. There was a slight burn as his venom resides in it. My black eyes gazed up at him as the sun began to peek behind some clouds. His skin lit up like a sparkling diamond. I released his cock from my clutches and got dressed. He still sat on the hood in all his glory looking dumb.
"Are you ready?"
"Huh?"
"Let's go."
He moved slowly as he remembered how to put his clothes on. Once fully dressed and in the car one more. I touched the dash and we magically appeared on the land of Point Dubois. The one place I vowed never to step foot on again.
