Now that the twins had their crowns, there were still two members of the royal family who still had yet to receive their crowns. The oldest child Boba, and of course his little sister Gabriella, the family member who was not only a princess of Solaris, but the princess of Naboo as well.
It was all over the news. For the first time in history, the galaxy was going to witness the crowning of a princess of two kingdoms. It was both the crowning of another princess of Solaris and the official crowning of the crown princess of Naboo.
Gabby looked at a news article about all the buzz that was risen about the royal family and how excited everyone was for the beloved princess's coronation.
"Wow. People are going crazy." Gabby said, sitting at a desk.
"Well, this is your coronation as a princess of Solaris, and official crown princess of Naboo." said Padme. "Now, Sweetie, as you know, I was once queen of Naboo. You might not remember since you were only a baby at the time, but it was not always an easy job. As the crown princess, you will have a lot of responsibilities."
Gabby could see she was in for a ride when her mother brought out the data pads so they could go over all the responsibilities Gabby would one day have as queen. She was only turning six, so she was only in the schooling phase of the job. And it looked like high school level work. Gabby was smart for her age, but this was ridiculous.
There was so much to learn! Laws, customs, royal etiquette and protocols Gabby didn't even know existed, as well as a lot to learn about traditional Naboo queen attire.
Gabby felt her head spin when she looked at all this stuff. She wondered if this was how her father felt when he did school at the Temple, or her uncle Carmine during the few classes that didn't involve dancing back in music school.
Class went on for two hours. It took nearly all of Gabby's strength just to keep her eyes open as her mother gave another lecture.
"Okay, now we'll go over what you should expect in negotiations." Padme said.
"Mommy!" Gabby whined. "I wanna stop. It's been two hours and I'm bored."
"I know, Baby. But this is something you need to prepare for. Some negotiations go on for a lot longer than two hours."
Gabby leaned back in her chair and groaned.
Another twenty minutes went by. Gabby covered her mouth with a yawn as Padme began putting some things on the digital board, when Anakin was walking by.
Anakin stopped and saw his daughter looked so bored. He saw his wife had his back turned and made a vine tap Gabby on her shoulder.
Gabby looked at her father and heard him saying through their Force bond that they should get out and have some fun. Seeing as Padme's back was turned, Gabby decided to play escape artist. But, Padme often made everyone wonder if she had eyes in the back of her head as part of her mothering abilities.
But this time, Gabby had an idea. Luckily, she remembered an illusion spell her big brother's girlfriend taught her. And she created an illusion of herself still in the desk while she snuck out of the room with her father.
Gabby and Anakin found Sapphire and Carousella and decided to race around the corral.
"This is way more fun than queen class, isn't it?" Anakin said.
"So much fun!" Gabby cheered. "Faster, Carousella!"
"You got it!" Carousella said, running faster.
Carousella began flying and playing carousel music from her horn.
"Hey, last one to the clouds and back is a rotten egg!" Anakin called, making Sapphire fly higher.
"Well that's not gonna be us!" Gabby said, snapping the reins. "Hyah!"
"Hang on!" Carousella called.
Anakin and Gabby were having so much fun riding and playing outside, they didn't realize Padme was out looking for Gabby.
"Gabriella Rosella Amidala-Jinn-Skywalker, get down here this instant!" Padme called angrily.
Gabby and Anakin were both thinking the same thing. Uh oh!
The horses brought their riders down.
"Gabriella, you march right back inside right now." Padme said.
"But, Mommy-"
"Now!"
Without another word, Gabby got off her horse and walked back inside to either go back to class or await whatever punishment her mother had in store for her.
"Padme-" Anakin began before he was interrupted.
"Anakin Gabriel Jinn-Skywalker!" Padme said. "What were you thinking?!"
"I was thinking Gabby was bored and needed a little fun." Anakin said.
"What kind of example are you setting for our daughter?" Padme said. "Are you trying to teach her to sneak out of classes and ignore responsibilities?"
"Of course not, but she's five years old, going on six. She shouldn't be put under so much pressure."
"Ani, she needs to learn now so she'll be ready when the time comes."
"She's only gonna be a kid once." Anakin said. "And if you're gonna be mad at anyone, be mad at me, not Gabby."
"And you're also the heir to the Solaran crown. I don't know where Qui-Gon is, but when he hears about this, he is going to be so disappointed in you."
But when Padme got inside, Gabby had gotten a surprise visit from the tickle monster. Well, not a real monster. But Qui-Gon came pretty close to it.
"I'm going to get you!" Qui-Gon laughed, chasing his granddaughter around and pretending to eat her stomach when he caught her, making her squeal with laughter.
"Qui-Gon, what are you doing?" Padme asked.
"Um...just testing Gabby's reflexes." Qui-Gon said. "They seem to be fine."
"Tickling seems like an odd way to test those reflexes." Padme said. "You know Gabby has lessons today."
"I know. And I believe she deserves a break. She is only a child. Even royals need a break."
Padme knew her father-in-law was right. Gabby was only a little girl, and she would only be a little girl once. The moment she became a woman, there would be no going back. One day, she was going to grow up, get a boyfriend, have a full-time job, get married, and have children of her own to take over as king or queen after her. But then, Padme thought about how Anakin didn't get to have a proper childhood when he was Gabby's age.
He never got to have playdates, he never had many toys, and even when he became a Jedi, he was deprived of a lot of fun things most children had growing up.
Padme looked at her daughter. She looked worried. Then Padme sighed and said, "Maybe we done enough for our lessons today. But you are still in trouble for sneaking out, Gabby. No dessert for you tonight."
"Aww!" Gabby groaned.
Padme dismissed her daughter, and Gabby ran to go play with Lamenta.
"Don't worry about missing dessert tonight." Lamenta whispered. "I heard dessert tonight is oatmeal raisin cookies."
Convenient. Gabby thought. She hated raisins.
"You're not just saying that to make me feel better?" Gabby said.
"No."
The next day, Gabby went with her aunt and uncle, and the other kids to the playground.
Boba was pushing Gabby on the swing while Lamenta was spinning on the roundabout.
"Higher, higher!" Gabby cheered as her big brother pushed her.
"Alright. Here we go." said Boba. And he gave her a good push that sent her swinging really high.
Gabby loved the wind in her hair as she swung, but she did not love being swarmed by the paparazzi when they spotted the royal family members in the park and swarmed them with questions. Mostly Gabby when she was off the swing.
"Princess Gabriella! Any comment on your upcoming coronation ceremony?" asked one reporter.
"Do you believe you will be as good a queen as your mother was?" asked another.
"How is the pressure to be Naboo's first second-generation queen treating you?"
Unlike her cousin, Gabby couldn't turn invisible to hide and run away.
"Uncle Carmine?" Gabby called.
Carmine had this special trick he used to avoid paparazzi when he went anywhere as Count Crescendo. He sang like a siren, temporarily hypnotizing the reporters, and giving the kids time to get on their horses and rush back to the palace until Carmine snapped the hypnotized victims out of the trance.
"Man, the paparazzi are annoying!" Gabby said.
"You should've seen what it was like after the concert celebrating Count Crescendo's first album release." said Carmine.
Gabby got anxious as she thought about her upcoming coronation celebration. She sat in her room for a while, thinking to herself as she hugged her teddy bear.
"Teddy, there's so much pressure now. Everyone expects me to be this perfect princess and be an amazing queen like Mommy was." she told her bear as if it would answer. "I don't know if I can do it."
Gabby sighed and lay down on her bed.
