"Positively Pink" from My Little Pony G3

"I Just Can't Wait to Be King" from The Lion King

Gabby felt tired and worried. She did as many lessons with her mother as she could, practiced her etiquette for the coronation, and to top it all off, had to go over so much with Caroline planning her coronation. So far, they already had the perfect plans for lots of pink decorations. Pink balloons, pink streamers, pink ribbons, and pink flowers too. They also had plans for chocolate fudge cake decorated with pink frosting and pink frosting roses all over it. Gabby just loved pink!

She even sang a little song about it as they picked out the decorations.

Gabby:

Life's a blast, quite a treat

Just fantastic, positively pink

How we feel can't be beat

Truly, really, positively pink.

One and all, sing this tune,

And we'll call it "positively pink"

Soon you'll see each balloon,

Every tree turn positively pink

Gabby grew some beautiful pink flowers to give a visual aid of what she'd like for her party. And then, she looked at samples of sketches for her coronation dress. A minty green dress, a baby blue dress, and of course a pretty red dress that would complement the pink decorations.

Minty green is fresh and clean

Baby blue is gorgeous too,

But somehow, today we think

All the world should have a pink-y glow, pink-y shine

Pink as roses, positively pink

Life is grand...

It's divine...

Sweet as candy...

Absolutely, definitely, positively pink!

Gabby giggled and said, "I just love pink."

"I can tell." chuckled Caroline.

"Just think," said Sapphire. "First, you're a crown princess, and one day you'll be queen just like your mother."

"Yeah... like my mother." Gabby said, sounding unsure.

Gabby felt a bit tired from party-planning, and left to go and take a nap in her room. Except, when she passed her brother, Boba noticed she looked more depressed than tired.

In the three years since his adoption into the Skywalker family, Boba learned a lot about Gabby. And one thing he knew for sure was that she never looked upset about a party, especially one that was just for her.

The ball was going to have lots of pink decorations, Gabby's favorite cake, lots of music and dancing, and Carmine even promised Gabby he would perform a song as Count Crescendo just for her special day. All her closest friends and family would be there too. And there was also no doubt she'd get a cargo ship load of presents too. So, what could be upsetting her?

Gabby, most of the time, displayed herself as this perky, happy-go-lucky, optimistic young girl who never let anything get her down. But, that didn't mean she was without negative emotions as well. Like anyone else, she felt anger, sadness, pain, and fear too.

Over the last year, Gabby had gotten better at controlling her weather patterns. They didn't activate every single time she was upset, but they did occasionally. And as Gabby entered her room, Boba saw a dark cloud forming over her head.

Boba was worried about his sister. She always went out of her way to make sure everyone else had a reason to keep a smile on their face. But sometimes, it seemed to Boba that Gabby forgot to give herself a reason to smile sometimes.

As Gabby lay down and curled up on her bed, she got a surprise visitor in the form of her big brother.

"Knock-knock." Boba said.

"Not in the mood for knock-knock jokes, Boba." Gabby moped.

That definitely wasn't a good sign. Gabby was definitely not well today.

"What's the matter? What happened to that happy little butterfly I'm used to seeing?"

"She's just tired now."

Gabby wouldn't even look at her brother as she said any of that. Boba was smart enough to know that lack of eye contact was a classic sign of someone having something to hide.

"Would you at least look at me when you're talking?" Boba asked calmly.

"There's nothing to talk about." Gabby said, putting her pillow on her head.

But Boba didn't leave the room. Instead, he sat on the bed, refusing to leave until he knew his sister was okay.

"Gabby, do you remember just before we became siblings?" Boba said. Gabby, again, said nothing. "You told me I didn't have to be afraid of showing my emotions, and that if I just let them out and talked about them, I would feel better."

Gabby started to look at her brother from underneath her pillow. She might have been three at the time, but she remembered it well enough to know her brother was right. Who was she to have gotten her brother to open up to her if she weren't willing to do the same with him?

Gabby sighed and said, "I don't think I wanna be queen of Naboo anymore."

Boba was shocked when he heard this.

"Why not? Back when we first became siblings, you were always talking about how you couldn't wait to be queen one day."

"I was younger and naiver then!" Gabby said. "Now I'm being shown all these crazy traditions and rules I have to follow. Some of them don't even make sense to me. And no offense to the current rulers, but I would never even wear most of the traditional attire. And I like my natural hair. And what's wrong with a simple tiara or a crown of flowers? And everyone keeps going on and on about how they expect me to be as great a queen as Mommy was. I'm not Mommy!"

Gabby started to cry as the pressure finally got to her. All these things people expected her to do, all the pressure to be the best, and this constant anxiety that felt as though a million eyes were watching Gabby just waiting for her to mess something up so the owners of those eyes could laugh at her, ridicule her, discriminate her, and tell her she would never be the queen her mother was, calling her a disappointment, and worst of all, letting her family down.

Boba hugged his sister and comforted her the way she had done for him three years ago.

"Gabby, I know you feel scared now, and I know you're not Mom." he said. "You are your own person. I'm my own person, and I share the same face as literally millions of clones. You don't have to be like anyone else."

"Easy for you to say," said Gabby. "No one expects you to be the future king of Naboo."

"Maybe not. But I think you'd be an amazing ruler. And I've looked at the rules. There's nothing that says you can't rule your own way."

Gabby looked at her brother, a few tears still in her eyes.

"But what if it's not good enough?" she said rather quietly.

"Well, in the off chance that someone may try to mess with you..." said Boba. "We'll just let them know your big brother happens to be a former bounty hunter. Anyone hurts you, I will haunt them day and night... forever. 'Cause no one can mess with my Butterfly."

Boba tickled his sister a little, making her giggle.

"Anyone would have to be crazy not to believe you'd be a great queen someday. You're already a great princess." Boba said. He saw Gabby's training tiara and put it on her head. "You've already done so much good for so many people. You help Dad keep his emotions in check and taught him to use his magic, you helped the Jedi see the flaws in the Order, you reunited Dad with his long-lost twin, you gave Lamenta her first real friends, you saved the lives of a dozen senators and your family from a group of dangerous bounty hunters, you brought Grandpa back to life with a nearly impossible spell, for Pete's sake! And you believed in me when no one else did. All that shows that you're not just brave, but you have a big heart. You always believe in other people, even during the darkest times, and you always find a way to make people smile. Things would've taken a darker turn no doubt, if you hadn't been there to be that spark of hope to keep us going. It's time you start believing in yourself."

Gabby got up and hugged her big brother, him immediately returning that hug. The younger child felt so happy, so loved, and so grateful that she had a big brother who cared about her so much. She wouldn't trade him for anything. And she realized he was right. She had to believe in herself. If she could help so many people while she was a young princess, why couldn't she be a good queen as well?

Heck, she was the one who encouraged Qui-Gon to accept becoming king of Solaris even though he had no experience even being a prince when he was younger. And then it led up to her coronation, the second to last to occur for the royal family.

Later, Gabby was caught in another string of lectures. This time, C-3PO was her teacher because Padme was currently on Senate business and Anakin was on another mission. But now, Boba was joining her lessons too.

Despite being adopted, Boba was considered a prince of Solaris, and therefore needed to learn everything he could about being a ruler on the chance it fell to him to rule the kingdom someday.

"Pay attention, children." said Threepio. "Ruling a kingdom is very serious business."

"So is living life to the fullest." Gabby said. "Come on, Threepio. It's been two hours already, can't we go play now?"

"Not until you are fully versed in protocols."

"But there's more to leading than just a bunch of protocols."

"Now, now. Be patient, little one."

"You know, I'm the princess here. I say lessons end now."

Gabby and Boba got out of their desks and started to leave.

"Princess Gabriella, you know only a queen or king can officially give orders." said the protocol droid.

"Well, she is the future queen." said Boba.

"Perhaps, but if she wishes to be as good a queen as Princess Padme was-"

"Here we go again!" Gabby groaned. "I'm not my mother. And let's make one thing clear, when I'm queen, there will be a few changes around here."

And that was when Gabby burst into song like she always did.

Gabby:

I'm gonna be the greatest queen

Who's kind and just and fair!

Threepio: Well, I've never seen a Naboo queen

With no big styles of hair

Gabby pulled down the bun her hair was in and let it down. One thing she planned to change was how the queen wore her hair, as she preferred to feel the wind in her hair.

Gabby: I'm gonna be the main event

Like no queen was before

If anyone should mess with me

They're gonna hear me ROAR

Gabby startled Threepio to the point where he fell over.

Threepio: Thus far, a rebel princess I've seen

Gabby: Oh, I just can't wait to be queen!

Eventually, Threepio caught up with Gabby and Boba as they went outside to play.

Threepio: (Speaking) You've rather a long way to go,

young princess, if you think...

But Gabby and Boba teased Threepio.

Gabby: No one saying do this

Threepio: Now when I said that, I-

While Threepio looked at Gabby, Boba stuck out is tongue in a funny face but turned serious when Threepio looked at him, and then Gabby was the one making funny faces. And they switched again when Gabby had Threepio's attention.

Boba: No one saying be there

Threepio: What I meant was...

Gabby: No one saying stop that

Threepio: Look, what you don't realize...

Gabby: No one saying see here

Threepio: Now see here!

Gabby and Boba rode away on Carousella and Remix just to mess with Threepio.

Gabby: When I become queen someday

Threepio: Well, that's definitely out...

Gabby: I will rule Naboo my way!

Threepio was not exactly built for speed, so it took a while for him to find the kids as they rode through the town, the kids stopping for ice cream.

Threepio: I think it's time that you and I

Arranged a heart to heart

But the kids got back on their horses and ran off again.

Gabby: Queens don't need advice

From protocol droids for a start

Threepio: If this is where the monarchy is headed

Count me out!

Out of service, and out of Naboo

I wouldn't hang about... aagh!

Threepio fell down a hill as the children ran through a park. Luckily, he was fine when he reached the bottom.

This child is the wildest one I've seen

The two royal children who had yet to receive their crowns rode away again, people bowing or curtsying when the young princess waved hello to them.

Gabby: Oh, I just can't wait to be queen!

Everybody look left

Everybody look right

Everywhere you look I'm

Standing in the spotlight!

Threepio: (Speaking, but in strict time) Not yet!

Before they knew it, other people were joining in on the musical number, distracting Threepio, and allowing the kids to escape him.

Chorus: Let every creature go for broke and sing

Let's hear it in the herd and on the wing

It's gonna be Queen Gabriella's thing

Gabby & Chorus: Oh I just can't wait to be queen!

Oh I just can't wait to be queen!

Oh I just can't waaaaaait ... to be queen!

And the kids made it back to the palace. Threepio definitely needed an oil bath after chasing the kids all around today.

Gabby started to feel more confident about becoming queen of Naboo someday.

"When I'm queen, things will really change around here." Gabby said.

"I have no doubt about that, Butterfly." Boba said, ruffling Gabby's hair, making her laugh.
