So Far Down

Once, when they were very little, Winry remembers going to the beach with Ed and Al. They didn't go in the water immediately, but instead, played in the sand for awhile.
She doesn't remember exactly what happened, but part of the day is very vivid Winry's mind, because she remembers still being very annoyed that Ed and Al had some sort of contest or something to see who would get to marry her, as if she was prize to be won.
Well, she was mostly annoyed at Ed, as Al had already apologized.
She remembers that she and Ed spent the half the day insulting each other and throwing sand at one another, and Al kept trying to play peacemaker, and failing miserably.
The bit that really stands out for her though, was when Ed walked off for awhile, and Winry had assumed that he was a wimp and couldn't take arguing with her anymore, only to find that Ed had written, in the sand, in big, even letters:
Winry Elric.
Winry remembered that, for a moment, she saw red, and was about to beat Ed up within an inch of his life when an idea struck her.
She grabbed the stick out of Ed's hand and wrote quickly:
Edward Rockbell.
The two of the glared daggers at each other and Al's pleading was deaf to both of their ears.
It sticks out for her, because, Winry thinks maybe that's when she started to fall for Ed.
