"Hey!" I shout as I enter the mansion. I see Bree and Chase tossing around a ball. Adam bench pressing Leo while Alex piled heavy stuff on top of him. Mr.Davenport was hopping up and down on one foot with our radio signal helmet on his head. Mom was watching the Bachelor while Aunt Tasha was on the phone looking bored.
"Hey." I get a few absent responses.
"Mara! Good. I think some of the bolts in the back need to be tightened." Davenport shouts over to me.
"Oh it!" I threw down my dance bag to grab a screwdriver and stood on the couch behind the scientist. It was nice that everyone was all together. Davenport, Chase, and I have been spending all of our time preparing for "the call" which is basically a giant sales pitch.
"Yes, Mom. Leo and I love our new home." Tasha drowns on the phone. "Oh you should come and visit."
"467. 486." Leo counts Adam's reps.
"Leo take these textbooks." Alex says, shoving them in the younger boy's arms.
"469." Leo continues.
"Slap her! Slap her! Tasha, you're missing this! Britney and Leah are fighting!" Mom yells.
"Shh. I'm picking up radio free Singapore." Davenport calls out. "This song is going to be a hit! Mark my words." The two of us high-five and start to sing along to the song.
"But not today!" Aunt Tasha yells into the phone. "Why? Because Donald's not feeling well. I got to go. He threw up in my purse. Love you. Bye." She quickly hangs up the phone.
"That was subtle." I informed my godmother.
"You know we are going to have to have your mother over eventually." Davenport confronts his wife.
"No. We don't. Look, my Mom doesn't just visit. She has inspections. If she spot's anything weird, she will use it as an excuse to move in." She warns her husband.
"It's true, she is intense." Mom warns not looking up from the tv. Bree then speeds towards us to catch the ball.
"Nothing weird here." Bree shrugs.
"Bree toss it!" Alex shouted over to her.
"Honey, when your mother visits, I will shower her with love, I will make her feel welcome and I will do anything humanly possible to…" Davenport gets interrupted by the doorbell. A picture of Grandma Rose came up on Eddie's screen.
"It's my mother!" Tasha shouts in horror.
"I'll be in the lab." Her husband yells quickly fleeing the scene.
"Quick turn invisible!" Tasha instructs her step children. We all just look at her confused. "Oh, come on you have every other freaky ability. Just go hide!" The three bionic kids hide behind the counter.
"Tash. Breathe. We have a few more…" My mother starts, when suddenly the front door swings open.
"Oh, good! It's unlocked." Grandma Rose says as she barrels through the door.
"Seconds." My Mom finishes. Leo, Alex, and I scramble in a line ready for the inspection that comes with every one of her visits.
"Mom! You're here!" Tasha says through girded teeth.
"Would've been here sooner if it hadn't been for your stupid gate!" She reprimanded her daughter.
"Oh, that's Donald's titanium security fence." Aunt Tasha informs her.
"Well if you run into it with your car hard enough it pops right open." The old woman shrugs off. Note to self fix the gate and make it stronger. She pushes her daughter out of the way. "Leo! There's my baby! Come give me some sugar. Grandma is so glad to see you!" She pulls him into an aggressive hug. "Let me see your face!" She squeals as she squishes his cheeks. "You're so cute!"
"His face is going to have bruises." Alex whispers to me.
"And look at you!" Grandma turns to Alex. "What a handsome young man you are becoming. You taking care of my baby's?" She asks him as she fixes the collar of his shirt.
"I do my best!" He reminds her. She then affectionately slaps his cheek.
"Good man." She then moves on to me. "There is my beautiful girl. Grandma bought you a gift." She pulls out an ugly sweater with 3D flowers on it.
"Wow, thanks Grandma!" I try to act like I actually like the sweater.
"Of course! But you need to lay off the make up. You will give the boys the wrong idea and not give my Leo a fighting chance." I bite my tongue and look down at the floor.
"Cheryl." She nods at my mom. "Well I bought a gift for all of you!" She turns to get it out of her bag. "It's your favorite! Brand cake." We all mouth along with her. She hands the loaf to Leo who almost drops it due to the weight.
"Oh! Wow. Grandma, you shouldn't have!" Leo says in the fakest voice ever. "And when I mean you shouldn't have…"
"Leo!" Mom and Aunt Tasha reprimand him.
"Who are they?" Grandma Rose asks, looking just behind Alex and I. We all turn around and see Adam, Bree, and Chase sneaking into the next room, really badly.
"You might want to add stealth lessons to their trading schedule." Alex whispers to me.
"Ya." I reply mentally face palming.
"They… are the staff! It's a big house!" Aunt Tasha tries. We all just look at each other confused but play along with her lie.
"Staff. Oh, Tasha. Still so lazy." Her mother repremned.
"And you're still so…"
"Tasha." My mother warns.
"My mother." My godmother finishes.
"So what do you do?" Grandma Rose asks Adam.
"I collect rocks, I lift heavy things, I chase bugs." Adam starts to list. I bang my forehead against my brother's shoulder.
"Adam is the chef!" Mom interjects, trying to save the strong boy from embarrassing himself.
"Oh. Right. I normally wear a puffy hat and yell things in Italian. Bonjour!" Adam tries to act the part.
"No! BonjourNo!" My Mom interrupts. We all nervously laugh.
"What a wonderful sense of humor." Aunt Tasha fake laughs.
"And who's she?" Grandma Rose moved on to Bree.
"She is my personal trainer." Tasha offers.
"And what exactly does a personal trainer do?" Grandma asks skeptically.
"It's personal?" Bree says, nervously shrugging.
"And Chase is Leo's Nanny. Male nanny. Manny." Tasha nervously babbles. I have to cover my mouth from laughing so hard. Both Leo and Chase look mortified.
"Aren't you a little young to be a manny?" Grandma asks, raising an eyebrow.
"Aren't you a little young to be a grandma?" Chase challenges.
"Ooh! I like him." She says, grabbing my hand. We all let out a nervous laugh.
LRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLR
Later that day Leo, Chase, Davenport, and I were in the lab getting ready for the call. Somehow
Leo weaseled his way into helping and Chase was not pleased about it at all. I was setting up the camera while Chase was glaring at his father and step brother.
"Look at them laughing and messing around. Like why bother being in the lab if you're not going to help." Chase mocks as he pouts next to me.
"Well, I think Davenport is hiding from Grandma. Not to say I blame him." I told him not,
looking up from what I was doing.
"Why do you call her Grandma? You're not related to her." Chase asks, turning his attention to me.
"You know that Mom and Aunt Tasha raised us together after our fathers died. Well all of the grandparents insisted on us calling them whatever they go by. There is Nana Cheri, my mom's mom. She lives about a half hour from here. Granny Dotty and Grandpa Jack. They are my dad's parents and they live in Ohio." I tell him as I keep working on the stream set up. I can feel Chase staring at me.
"What was the comment she said about Leo having competition?" He asks with a more serious tone.
"Oh, that. All of the grandparents want Leo and I to get married so that we will actually be family." I say with a shrug.
"Oh. Uh. Ok. Interesting." He says in a kind of uneasy tone. "But forget what she said. About the make up. You look fine." I look up at and give him a smile.
"Thanks Chase." I say before turning back to my work. The moment was interrupted by a burst of laughter from the two men on the opposite side of the room. Chase grabs my arm and some packets next to us and drags us over to the duo.
"Guys, so, here are your fully collated, color-coated presentation packets. I had them laminated so you could practice in the shower." Chase beams as he hands out the packets.
"Why would anyone want to read presentation scripts in the shower?" I ask in disgust.
"Uh. Huh. Ya. No. I say we just wing it." Leo suggested throwing away the packet.
"Leo's right. We shouldn't over think it." Davenport agrees, as he to throws away his packet.
"But guys I wrote an entire script filled with our spontaneous, yet witty humor." Chase tries to sell.
"And we would all love to hear it someday, but now, Big D and Leo are gellin' with the selling'." Leo brushes off Chase and does a secret handshake with his step father. I rolled my eyes at how cheesy it was.
"No! No, handshakes." Chase yells jumping between them. I could see a hint of jealousy spread across his face. "I mean Leo's great and all, but you and I are the dynamic duo and we already have Mara screening orders. What if something happens to him? What if he gets electrocuted again?" The brainiac tries to argue.
"Yeah, but we could use the help." The scientist shrugs his son off. "This year I am unveiling my coup d'etat." He says eagerly backing towards the door to one of the work stations. Leo throws his hands over Chase and I's eyes.
"With children in the room?" The younger boy gasps. I push his hand away from my face.
"Don't be gross." I tell him disgusted that his mind even went there.
"I am talking about a level of technology so amazing that I have to unveil it game show style. Hit it Mara!" He shouts over to me. He holds his arms up and starts to do jazz hands. I hit a button on the console that reveals the Exo-Skeleton that we have been working on. "It's my exo-skeleton. And, Leo, you have been doing such a great job helping you are going to be in it when we do the call." Davenport tells his step son excitedly.
"Cool!" Leo shouts as he high fives me. He then runs over to the suit jumping for joy. I smile at him but it starts to falter when I see Chase's face.
"What? No! You said that I was going to present the exo!" Chase complains to his father.
"Chase, you've been doing this for years. It's not gonna kill you to let Leo demo one thing. Besides, there will be plenty of other little things for you to do?" Davenport informs the youngest bionic.
"Ya. Like stand and point Vanna." Leo taunts.
"Leo." I hiss at him and smack his shoulder.
"Fine. You know what? Leo should demo the exo." Chase gives in. However, there is a certain look that crosses his face that I can't quite place.
"That's more like it." Their father praises them.
"You deserve it Leo." Chase says with that look still in his eyes.
"Well I do pride myself on work ethic." Leo beams as he and Davenport exit the room.
"Don't sweat it Chase. And ignore Leo. He is all talk. Ok?" I told him. I give his arm a friendly punch and follow the other two out of the room.
LRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLR
Later that day Leo, Chase, Davenport and I started "The Call". I had changed into a simple black dress, Davenport had a suit on, Leo had a sweater on and Chase put a blazer over his striped shirt. I think I need to have another conversation with him about fashion. The boys were busy selling/ demonstrating and I was tracking orders as they came in.
"The Davenport Industry's Tabletop Particle Collider. I have absolutely no idea what it does, but it looks pretty." Leo says as he smiles into the camera. I quickly run into frame with Chase and we give them bright, fake, smiles.
"Isn't he cute? Kids." Chase fake laughs it up. I laugh too but pull Leo off camera by the back of his shirt.
"If you don't know what it does, let Chase talk about it. Alright?" I hiss at Leo as I aggressively realize his shirt. He just smirks and shrugs at me as he runs back on camera. He goes and swipes the object that Chase was selling and starts to make dramatic gestures with it.
"I have no idea how any household has survived without the…" Chase goes to grab the object but instead sees his stepbrother with it. "Leo." He shouts at him in disbelief.
"Go ahead, you are doing great." Leo shrugs his brother off.
"You stole my thunder!" Chase yells at his brother. "He stole my thunder!" He relates turning towards his father and I.
"Who needs thunder when you have lightning. Zap." Leo taunts as he jabs him with the invention. Chase snatches the device out of Leo's hands and the two glare at each other.
"Um. I know you are kind of new to this whole being a real Dad thing but I think it's time to Dad it up." I inform the scientist who watches his youngest children in horror. He nods his head in agreement and rushes towards his boys. He grabs the backs of their shirts and pulls them off camera. I run forward and try to salvage the situation.
"Sorry about that ladies and gentlemen. Brothers am I right? Mr. Davenport loves to work with his children and let them be involved with the company in as many ways as possible but kids will be kids. But we move forward and we have many more great devices to show you!" I rally them. They all laugh and smile at me so I think I was able to spin the situation in the right direction.
"Thank you Mar. My wonderful lab assistant Mara Jacobs ladies and gentlemen." Mr.Davenport says as he gives the camera an award winning smile. I smile to move to stand next to Chase. "Now I think it's about time for the moment we all have been waiting for." Davenport starts to make the transition.
"I know it's the moment I have been waiting for." Chase mutters under his breath. I raise an eyebrow at him. He did something stupid didn't he? Before I could question it any further Leo storms in wearing the Exo-skeleton.
"Exo-skeleton in the house!" Leo shouts as he starts to flex in the suit.
"That's right, the power of ten men in a one size fits all suit. Leo, please demonstrate by lifting the table. Now, ladies and gental men see how elegantly he…" The scientist is interrupted however, by the exo-skeleton malfunctioning and punching the table instead. "Smashes my table of priceless inventions." Chase starts to laugh and I smack his arm. Suddenly, the suit starts to attack anything in its way. It swings in our direction and we all duck. Davenport runs to coward behind a desk and Chase pushes me to follow my boss.
"Gee, if only I had warned you that letting Leo help was a bad idea." Chase rubs it into his father.
"Not helping." I reprimanded.
"Leo stop!" Mr.Davenport yells to his step son.
"I can't! I'm not doing anything. This thing is out of control!" Leo shouts as the exo destroys more things around. Leo would apologize every time he broke something but there was no stopping it. Davenport stands up and addresses the buyers.
"Live webcams. You know anything can and will happen." He nervously laughs. The exo starts to head towards him and he panics. I start to crawl under the desk to disconnect the call. "You know what we will call you back." Davenport adds as he moves back to his previous spot next to his son. The exo approaches the camera and punches it as I hang up the meeting. Chase grabs the back of my dress and pulls me to a new hiding spot behind the cyber desk.
"Ok, this is the scariest and most awesome thing that has ever happened to me." Leo laughs as the exo destroys more things. Davenport pushed me behind him but Chase's shoulders so that he had to stand in front of him.
"Are you using me like a human shield?" Chase yells at his father.
"Your bionic!" Davenport shouts back. Chase pushes his father in front of us but keeps me behind him. I roll my eyes and grab both of them and pull them under the cyber desk.
"I don't get it, we must have tested it hundreds of times!" I exclaim to both of the Davenport's.
"Something must've gone haywire with the power source when I reversed the controls." Chase contomplaits. Davenport and I look at each other wide eyed and turn and glare at the youngest bionic sibling. "I guess?" Chase adds with a nervous tone in his voice. I smack him on the side of his head. "Ow! I'm sorry. I didn't mean for it to go berserk. I just wanted to mess with Leo." He admits.
"Well, next time, could you just give him a wedgie like everyone else?" Davenport chastised his son. Suddenly the exo comes and lifts Davenport up by the front of his shirt.
"Big D, I hope this doesn't hurt our friendship but I think I'm about to crush you." Leo warns.
"Not the face! Not the face!" Davenport cries.
"Jeez." I yell out. While the exo was occupied with Davenport I sneak around and pull out one of the battery packs in the pack.
"Going for the battery pack. Good idea Mar!" Chase praises me as he comes out of hiding.
"Still unnecessary handsome." The scientist sighs when the exo releases him.
"You're telling me nobody else thought of just removing the battery. I mean you're a tech genius and you are genetically engineered to be the smartest man on earth. I'm a low paid intern that taught herself coding one day." I mock all of them. Chase sticks his tongue out at me and Davenport takes the battery from my hand.
"Leo, let's get you out of there." The scientist snaps into Dad mode.
"I know this wasn't what you were going for Big D but man we are going to sell a lot of these." Leo laughs as he lifts the face shield on the suit. I laugh and help get the younger boy free. Leo and I get to work cleaning up the damage to the lab while Davenport reprimands Chase.
"What is going on down here?" Aunt Tasha asks as she looks at all of the damage.
"The exo-skeleton went berserk and almost crushed me." Davenport complains to his wife.
"My mother is upstairs." Tasha challenges.
"Ya. You win." The scientist gives in.
"She's been asking where you guys are and I'm running out of excuses. I need everyone upstairs acting like a normal family now!" Aunt Tasha scolds us. She grabs my shoulders and leads me to the elevator with her. She hands me the ugly sweater they Grandma bought me and groan as I slip it over the dress.
"You know what? We should probably do what she says. She's more prone to violence than the exo-skeleton. And, Chase, I am very disappointed in you. I don't want you on the next Call." I hear Davenport say before he meets us in the elevator.
"Donald!" Grandma Rose shouts as we enter the living room.
"Rose!" He greets with fake enthusiasm. I hold back a laugh as I walk over to my mother and brother in the kitchen.
"How's it been going up here?" I ask them. I glance around the room and see Bree doing jumping jacks and Adam stirring a smoking pot on the stove.
"As good as you would expect with Adam being let near the stove." Alex smirks as he grabs some bowls from the cabinet.
"Uh, just a couple more minutes!" Adam yells nervously as he lifts up a half melted spatula.
"What on earth is he making?" I ask my mom as she hands me a pile of plates.
"I told him to make spaghetti but I think it's just molten black sludge." My mother sighs. "How did your meeting go?" Chase walks by us glaring at Leo.
"About the same really." I walk over to where Chase is leaning against the wall.
"Nice sweater." He comments holding back a laugh. I fake laugh too and shove the plates I was holding in his hands.
"Set the table and listen. Alright?" He nods his head and I grab some silverware. "Look, it's been a long time since Leo and I have had fathers. Leo finally has one again and he just wants to bond with him. Having Leo as a brother requires a lot of energy and he often tries to take the attention away from you. He was so excited to get a new dad and when he found out about you guys he was over the moon. He is just trying to find out where he fits in in this new family so just give him a chance alright?" I tell him as I put the last fork down. When I looked at him he was looking at me very intensely. He opens his mouth to say something but is interpreted by Grandma Rose.
"Hey, you're Leo's manny. Stop staring at Mara and get him away from the hot stove!" Rose yells at Chase. He rushes over and quickly moves Leo away.
"Watch it Leo. You wanna be sent to bed without super?" Chase fake threats.
"Yes." Leo deadpans. Alex and I snicker and move to sit at the table. I sit down between Chase and Alex and across from Bree. Mom sits down next to Davenport and across from Aunt Tasha. Grandma Rose is at the other end of the table where Adam serves very burnt and very crispy pasta.
"What the?" Rose gasps at the food in front of her.
"Pa-sghetti?" Adam asks, holding up the pot.
"What in the name of great Caesar's ghost is going on around here?" The old woman asks, staring her daughter down from across the table.
"Trust me, there is nothing unusual going on here. Everything is completely normal." Tasha lets out a nervous laugh. Just then the Exo comes bursting through the wall that hides the entrance to the lab.
"Well, that was horrible timing." Davenport says to nobody in particular.
"What is that?" Rose shrieks in fear. The exo pushes over one of the kitchen counters. We all quickly jump to our feet. Alex and Chase positioned themselves in front of me and mom tried to move in front of all of us. I don't know why they all think I can't handle myself in these situations.
"That is another member of our staff. Go away, James. We don't need you right now." Leo tries to cover.
"Boy, I'm old, not senile, and that's no butler. I'm out." Grandma yells before she moves to hide behind the couch. We all move to join her as Chase practically throws Mom and I behind the couch. When he sees there's not enough room he moves to duck behind the plants with Leo.
"Adam, don't just sit there. Go take that thing down!" Bree yells at her older brother.
"Ya, Big Guy. Light those things up." Alex says, patting him on the back. Adam starts to stand up but Aunt Tash pulls him back down.
"No! If you do that, someone will know that someone has certain abilities!" My godmother says through gritted teeth. Just then the exo throws the spaghetti pot at us.
"Oh great! Now dinner is really ruined!" Adam complains.
"Wow, that's the most useful thing this suit has done all day." I chime in.
"Donald, You're the man of the house, do something!" Rose yells at the scientist.
"Right. I'll take care of this." Davenport says heroically. He starts to move towards the machine but it shots a laser right at him. He screams and ducks back behind the couch.
"My hero!" Grandma ads sarcastically.
"Mar! I thought you pulled the battery out of the exo." Davenport hisses at me.
"I did! I just forgot about the backup power source. Again I'm not the genius or the smartest man alive!" I hiss back.
"Mara Lynn Jacobs you did what?" My mother yells at me. I nervously smile at the very annoyed woman next to me.
"Now, do you see? Your little gizmo's putting us all in danger. That robot's about to kill us. Now, see, back when I was a kid, back in the day…" Rose starts to go on a tangent.
"Yeah, that's a fascinating story, Rose. Do you mind if we hear about it later?" Davenport shouts at his mother in law. The exo shuts another laser at us so Davenport picks up a pillow and throws it at the exo.
"It's destroying our house and you're tossing pillows at it." Aunt Tasha yells at her husband.
"Well, they're called throw pillows." Davenport defends.
"Time for this exo to meet its match." Leo yells running into the room with the electrofeild destabilzor. When did he even leave the room?
"The electrofield destabilizer. Great idea, Leo." Chase praises his younger brother.
"Thanks. Here. You should do it. Sorry for stealing your sizzle." Leo says ducking back behind the plants.
"No, I'm the one who should be sorry. I just have to get used to the idea of having another brother around." Chase also apologizes.
"Guys, I'm really enjoying the heartfelt moment, but I'm running out of pillows here." Davenport interrupts them.
"See that I. I also did that." I nudge my mother's shoulders who just rolls her eyes in return.
"Should we take this bad boy down together?" Leo offers his brother.
"I flip. You zap?" Chase agrees. They both nod at each other and Chase stands up. "Hey exo!" Chase does a flip over the couch to distract the device.
"Here comes the pain!" Leo shouts as he lunges at the machine. The exo quickly disarms him and restrains his arms.
"Oh. Hey. Hey, Chase, did we have a plan B?" Leo calls out to the brainiac.
"Hey! Nobody lays a hand on my grandson. It's time to pick up the hat!" Grandma Rose shouts from her hiding spot. She then runs over and kicks the suit. It releases Leo and the older woman runs back to her hiding spot.
"Way to go, Grandma! And you didn't even break a hip!" Bree praises the older woman. I just laugh.
"What was that?" I say through giggles.
"Bree taught her how to do that." Alex says, laughing. The exo starts to move towards Leo again.
"Look out, Leo!" Chase yells as he pulls both Leo and the destabilizer out of the way. "Stay close." The bionic boy instructs as he puts a force field around them to block the exo. He then zaps it with the destabilizer. The exo goes flying across the room and starts to twitch.
"Yes!" Leo and Chas cheer. Davenport pulls all of us into a group hug but I notice Grandma Rose doesn't join in.
"Somebody better tell me what's going on right now. And right now just passed, so you're not talking fast enough." Grandma Rose yells at all of us. We all fall in line feeling a little guilty. I stood between Adam and Alex and all of us were at a loss for words.
"Uh, Rose, there is a completely rational explanation for all of this. You are, uh, delusional." Davenport panic explains.
"Exactly! Now who wants dessert!" Mom adds in looking at all of us. We all raise our hands and turn to move towards the kitchen.
"You know what, Mom? This is our life. Our house may be high-tech and chaotic, but it is full of love. And it may not be perfect for you but it is perfect for our family." Aunt Tasha finally stands up to her mother. She moves and stands between Adam and I and she wraps her arms around us.
"What family? Wait a minute, who are these people?" Grandma Rose asks, confused. Aunt Tasha moves to stand near Davenport. Nobody knew what to say. Adam threw his arm around me and I can tell he was nervous.
"They are, uh, my brother's kids. That I adopted when he died. Fell in a volcano." Davenport sputters out. We all look at each other and nervously laugh.
"Well, why didn't you just say so? Now it all makes sense. You're just a modern family with a bunch of adorable kids. Who is gonna need their grandma around all the time. You know, I can stay for a few days in that spare room you got down the hall. Come on, baby. I got my overnight case in the car, and Gladys is watching Poochie so it's no problem. Don't thank me now. Come on." Grandma Rose babbles as she runs out the door. Mom, Tasha, and Davenport all are mouthing and signaling to each other to stop her but it was too late. Aunt Tasha runs out the door after her mother.
"Well, I guess I should order some pizza. Huh?" Mom says as she squeezes my brother's shoulders and walks into the kitchen.
"Chase, you really messed up today, but you kinda made up for it in the way you helped Leo like a brother. And since we have to reschedule it anyways, I want all three of you to be on... The Call. Hoo-hoo, it's back, baby." Davenport tells us. We all laugh and head towards the lab. Davenport throws his arms around his sons and reaches further to put a hand on my shoulder. For a moment I kinda felt like I had a new father too.
LRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLRLR
Later that night we had the whole family on the couch watching a movie. Adam, Alex, and Bree were on the floor. Mom, Grandma Rose, Davenport, and Aunt Tasha were all dusting on the couch. Chase and I are laying on the lounger shoulder to shoulder sharing a pillow. This wasn't an uncommon configuration on movie night but I kept noticing Grandma Rose giving Chase and I odd looks.
"Oh, man. I am starving." Rose complains. We all nod in agreement when the doorbell rings.
"Oh, that must be the pizza." Davenport says as he starts to pull out his wallet.
"I'll get it!" Leo called from the other room. He comes in wearing the exo skeleton.
"Leo, what're you doing in that thing?" Aunt Tasha laughs. Leo opens the door and the pizza guy screams and drops the pizza.
"Getting free pizza!" He shouts triumphantly. We all laugh and get up to grab some pizza.
"I'll get plates!" Mom calls getting off the couch. We all get off the couch and walk behind with Davenport.
"Hey! That was quick thinking about your brother." I told my boss.
"What?" He shouts nervously. He looks me up and down with a scared look in his eyes.
"That lie you told Grandma about your brother being Adam, Bree, and Chase's dad. It was smart." I elaborated.
"Oh. That. Ya. Totally a lie I made up quickly. I put almost no thought into it. Anyway, let's eat. I'm starving. Are you starving? I'm starving." Davenport nervously laughs and runs away from me. That was weird right?
