A/N: Welcome to Year 3 at Hogwarts for Sienna! Remember she is a year behind the Golden Trio, so this year will take place during the Goblet of Fire. Enjoy!
Chapter 16: The Quidditch World Cup
The morning air of August settled in the Burrow as the sun began to rise over the hills. Sienna walked through the tall grass outside of the home with Hermione, her backpack perched on her shoulders and her hair braided to the side, as always. She wore a green hoodie with orange and white stripes horizontally running through her torso in preparation for the Quidditch World Cup. Her blue jeans clung to her skin and her white converse sat against her feet and ankles. The earth was calm and quiet, and Sienna soaked in the tranquility that came with it. Hermione and her reached the front door of the Burrow, where Mrs. Weasley greeted them with hugs and kisses to the side of their heads. Sienna smiled at the woman, happy to be back with her friends.
Sienna is now thirteen years old and she had grown a little taller since she met the trio, putting her at five foot and five inches. She was going to enter her third year at Hogwarts this coming September. Her hair became more tamed and slick, however her braid seemed to be her "signature" hair style, as her mum would say. Her friendship with Ginny still remained the same, if not better since the year she was saved from the Chamber of Secrets. They had exchanged many letters through the summer, specifically about their crushes that they can't seem to shake.
Dear Sienna,
I hope you're still doing well this summer! Mum has been making us do chores with her, as usual, and Dad has been working non-stop, so he doesn't come home until a little after dinner time now. Fred and George are positively annoying, and Percy just started his job with the Ministry. Ron does nothing but sleep it seems like! Harry though...Merlin, he's quite the character. He's so quiet, but he is so funny at the same time. Mum makes us get rid of the gnomes in the yard together, and I swear I laugh harder each day that passes. Do you think he might fancy me? I hope so. He's quite good looking if you ask me.
Best,
Ginny
Sienna knows how much Ginny cares for Harry, although she is way too scared to ever admit it to anyone else. She's not sure why either - Ginny is the most courageous person she knows. Sienna admires her for that reason alone. She joined the quidditch team last year with her brothers, and she has never felt more proud.
Sienna expressed to Ginny about her undying crush for the blonde haired boy that seems to always creep back into her mind. Draco Malfoy, in Sienna's mind, is the most annoying and petty person she has ever met. One minute he is declaring that he is the most "pure" person in the school, and the next he is sitting next to Sienna and expressing his hopes and dreams for his future. She knows what he really wants to be - an auror in the ministry - but his father would never approve of it. He kept saying that his father has "plans" for him, but he never would elaborate on what that meant. She's aware it bothers him, but he rarely let's that show to others. Their friendship has blossomed into something that came on suddenly to Sienna, but she trusts him with her life.
During her second year, Pansy Parkinson was taunting Sienna in the courtyard. Ever since Voldemort's diary has made it into her possession, Sienna has become terrified of any whispering in general that she is not aware of. Pansy walked quietly up behind the girl out in the courtyard that day and whispered suddenly in her ear, making Sienna jump and fall off the bench she was sitting on. Everyone around them was laughing, except for Draco, who threatened to call his father and ship Pansy off to Azkaban for harassing Snape's daughter and possibly hurting her. He didn't help Sienna off the ground, but he did pick up her things and escort her back to the common room after that. Although Sienna knew that she cared for the boy, that day she knew he felt the same, and they had an unspoken agreement since.
Molly Weasley looked at the pair and sighed. "My dear girls, how was your summer? We missed you here!"
"It was great, Mrs. Weasley. And yours?" Sienna asked.
Molly huffed at her. "These boys drive me up a wall!" She stepped aside so the girls were able to walk in the Burrow. Molly went on about the boys and how untidy they were, except for Harry who made his bed every morning and was the most polite boy. Sienna wasn't surprised - he was one of the best people she's ever met. Molly heard the oven ding, meaning breakfast was ready for everyone. She ran over while shouting "could you two be dears and wake up the lot of them upstairs?"
"Of course!" Hermione said, marching up the tall, narrow staircase where all the bedrooms were. Sienna followed suit, making her way to Ginny's room first. She walked in to find Ginny sleepily sitting up, rubbing her eyes. "Well finally you decide to wake up." Sienna said, smirking at the girl. Ginny laughed and threw the covers off of her, standing up. She walked over to her best friend, wrapping her arms around her. "Good to see you too, Sea." Sienna returned the hug, smiling. She pulled back, "your mum's got me on wake up call. I'll be back after I wake up Fred and George."
Ginny nodded, and Sienna walked out and up another flight of stairs. She knocked on the twins door, but no answer came from the other side. She slowly, and quietly opened the door, to find their beds empty and unmade. Opening the door more, her eyebrow hitched up in confusion. "Hel-"
"THERE'S THE SNAPE WE LOVE AND MISSED!" Fred shouted from behind the door. Sienna screamed and jumped a foot in the air. Behind her came George, who wrapped his arms around her and picked her up, throwing her over his shoulders. "Missed us so much that you just barge right in, eh?" He said, while walking Sienna down the stairs over his shoulder.
"George! I swear to Merlin if you don't put me down-"
"Look, Fred, she thinks she's her father."
"She does look just like him, George, although she's quite shorter and much easier to prank."
"I will scream bloody murder if you don't let me down!" Sienna exclaimed, still trapped by George's arm and shoulder. She felt George's footsteps switching weight as they seemed to be going back down the stairs
"I'd like to see you try, woman."
"Hey! Don't you-"
"George Fabien Weasley, put that girl down!" Molly hollered from the kitchen sink. George laughed and threw the girl down onto the couch. "Nice to see ya, Snape."
Sienna huffed at him and fixed her outfit. Her once neat braid was now messy and unruly. She stood up and the rest of the group began to gather downstairs. She saw Ron and Harry and smiled. Running over to them, she threw her arms around the two, her left arm over Ron's shoulder and her right arm over Harry's. "Ron! Harry!" she exclaimed.
They both hugged her at the same time, laughing. The trio had taken quite a liking into Sienna since their second year, and was happy that she was best friends with Ginny. As she unwrapped herself from their embrace, Ron laughed at her hair. "Fred and George already got to ya, eh?" Sienna rolled her eyes and nodded. "Stupid boys."
The group ate their breakfast together and then gathered up their things to head out. They began walking through the woods, the morning sun bursting through the trees and providing light for their path. It seemed like what had been thirty minutes that Sienna's feet began to tire. Arthur Weasley was shouting from the front of the group, but she wasn't paying attention. Harry was walking next to her on her left, while Ron and Hermione walked a little ahead. Ginny was on Sienna's right. All of a sudden, another shout came from the front and a man hopped down from the tree above. Sienna did not notice the man, but a few seconds later she noticed the boy that jumped down next to him.
Cedric Diggory was a very handsome boy, in Sienna's opinion. He was in Hufflepuff and he exhibited every characteristic of the house - just, patient, and loyal. He was also kind, always smiling at others who greeted him and being respectful. Sienna had never properly introduced herself, but knew of his existence from the Quidditch games she would attend and passed him in the corridors. He was tall and his hair was fluffed like a perfect cloud. He wasn't muscular, but Sienna never cared for that anyway. His smile was charming and endearing. It was almost like staring at a perfect human right in front of you.
The group walked over to the new pair that joined and introduced themselves. Fred and George already knew Cedric from Quidditch, having played against the worthy opponent many times. Cedric shook hands with Arthur and the twins, and turned towards the younger group. Arthur introduced them individually, Sienna being last.
"Amos, Cedric, this is Sienna Snape. She is Severus and Alesia Black's daughter." Arthur said proudly. She loved that man dearly, he always treated her like his own. Sienna smiled at the two and nodded. "Nice to meet you."
Amos grasped the girls hand and shook it. Cedric nodded in return, smiling. "I've heard good things, Sienna." He stated. Her eyebrows rose with surprise. "You have?"
"Of course. How you saved Ginny from the Chambers back in your first year. That was brilliant."
Sienna nodded, blushing madly. "Well, anything for her of course." Ginny rolled her eyes at her, laughing at the exchange. Cedric smiled at her again, and caught her eyes again before turning back to his father and Arthur. Sienna continued to blush madly. The group began to walk for another twenty minutes, and came across a clearing of grass with something in the middle of the field.
Amos, what seemed to be a trot, continued over to the object. "This! This is it!" He threw his arms out, almost like he was on a showcase.
Arthur and him exchanged kind, loud words to one another, then explained what it was to the group. Sienna had heard of portkeys before, her mother explained them to her on a few occasions. She's personally never used one for traveling. Everyone hovered around it, being told to grab on. Arthur instructed everyone to grab on, Sienna standing next to the twins and Ginny. They all grabbed on, Harry being the last to, and all of a sudden they were spinning and flying through the air. The wind whipped in Sienna's face, her braid becoming more unruly and messy. After a few moments, Arthur instructed them all again to let go. Hermione was having a bit of a panic attack before letting go, screaming at the top of her lungs. Sienna let go and screamed herself, holding onto her backpack for dear life. After what seemed too long, Sienna hit the ground with a loud thud, her friends falling next to her.
She looked up and saw that Arthur, Amos, and Cedric were casually walking in the air, and gently landed on the ground. Sienna couldn't help but be annoyed that no one gave her instructions on how to land. She and the other stood up, brushing themselves off of the dirt that attached itself to them. Sienna and her friends began to walk, as she redid her braid. Cedric turned his head and peaked over his shoulder to grab a glimpse at Sienna, who caught his eye and smiled shyly at him. He quickly turned his head and continued to walk. Across the way, they spot thousands of tents set up with people everywhere. Sienna and Ginny looked at each other in awe. This was going to be epic.
After walking again, and Sienna's feet screaming for rest, they arrived at their tent that, in Sienna's opinion, seemed too small for everyone else. Everyone piled into the tent in excitement, her and Harry being the last to enter. They walked under the flap and amazement instantly hit Sienna's mind.
The tent was wide, like the size of a small flat. There were couches, a kitchen area, and a bunk area for everyone to sleep in. The tent went up as high as ten feet, and there was music playing in the background. There were shades of orange and the ambience set the tone. Everyone was laughing, Mr. Weasley was yelling at the twins, and everything in that moment was just great. Sienna smiled in awe, while Harry portrayed the same expression. They looked at each other, continuing to smile. "I love magic." Harry stated. Sienna laughed and they walked further into the tent with everyone else.
A few hours later as the sun began to set, the group began to walk to the arena. They showed their tickets and continued to walk. As they climbed up the stairs to their seats, Ron began to grow impatient with excitement. "Woah, dad! How far up are we?!"
A voice penetrated their thoughts as it began to speak from below the lot. Sienna turned her head towards the voice, to find the man she has grown to despise, and the boy who seemed to have captured her heart.
"Well, let's put it this way. If it rains, you'll be the first to know!" Lucius stated. Sienna narrowed her eyes at the man. He was wearing his typical black robes with his cane in his hand. Draco stood behind him, smirking. He was dressed up in an all black suit with a blck tie to match. Sienna couldn't help but think how handsome he looked. Her eyes shifted to his as he winked at her. Sienna's heart sunk to her stomach, but she kept her face as melancholy as possible to appease her friends. Draco snickered from behind his father.
"Father and I are in the Minister's box! My personal invitation from Cornelius Fudge himself!" Draco stated, when all of a sudden he was hit in the gut with his father's cane. It took all of Sienna's energy to not shout at the blonde haired man for hitting Draco, however she resorted to glaring at him instead.
"Don't boast, Draco. There's no need with these people." Lucius sneered, referring to the group. Sienna shoved her way to the railing and stared at him in the eyes. "I'll be sure I tell my father that's what you said." Her hands grasped the railing and her eyes did not falter. Draco stared at her and nodded very subtly, silently thanking her for saying something to him. Harry put his hand on Sienna's shoulder muttering to her. "C'mon Sea, don't let him get to you." Sienna could feel Draco's eyes burning into Harry's hand. If looks could kill, Harry would be suffering from a lost arm at this very moment.
As Sienna finally turned away with Harry, she heard a clunk from metal hitting metal. She turned to find Lucius had used his cane to catch Harry's jacket on the railing. Harry struggled as Lucius began to speak. "Do enjoy yourself, won't you? While you can." Sienna saw the fakest smile appear on his face, as he released Harry's jacket from his cane. Sienna's eyes darted to Draco, her eyebrow raised to him. Draco stared warningly at the girl, almost signaling her to be on her toes. Her breathing hitched, and she found herself being dragged away from the conversation, her arm being pulled by Harry. "C'mon." He said.
As they made it to the top of the arena, they eventually found their seats. Sienna embraced the sight before her - people dressed in red and black, or green and orange like herself, took up the entire stadium. They were all cheering, flashes from cameras appearing every so often. She stood next to Harry and Ginny, embracing the green hoodie that clung to her body. She had green face paint under her eyes, thanks to Fred and George, while Harry wore a black and red jacket to symbolize his loyalty to the Bulgarian team. Ron wore a matching jacket, but sported a tall black hat with red stripes going horizontally across it. Everyone was fascinated with just being at the event, not caring where their seats were.
All of a sudden a gush of wind came from behind her, as the Ireland quidditch players began to fly into the stadium. Over the speakers you hear a light, fun tune playing with traditional Irish melodies playing along. Everyone, including Sienna, began to cheer as sparks of orange and green surrounded the crowd and the field. Realizing that the Irish had flown to the field, she and the others, aside from Harry and Ron, started cheering and aweing at the team and the entrance that the Irish had put on for the crowd. After about a minute, once George stopped staring at Moran, he noticed more players approaching the field at a fast pace.
"Here come the Bulgarians!" he shouted.
Sienna's face snapped towards the dancing leprechaun made of fireworks who suddenly bursted into nothing as the Bulgarian team flew through it. Sienna gasped as dark music started to play around them, and she noticed a certain player doing tricks on his broom aside from his teammates. Once he stopped flying across the field to show off to the crowd, his picture displayed across from them, which made Ron and Harry shout as well.
"Krum!"
Sienna laughed at the excitement that the boys displayed from the game. Her, Ginny, and Hermione laughed at the pair and listened to Cornelius Fudge speak before the match began. Sienna was on her toes the entire game, excited for the Irish as they were ahead. By the time the match ended, the Irish had won because Krum caught the snitch too early. Although Ron and Harry sulked the entire way back to the tent, Sienna and Ginny were dancing and skipping along with the twins as a way of celebrating. Sienna couldn't remember the last time she laughed this hard that her lungs burned and her hair sticking to her face.
Once back to the tent, the group ate supper and chatted about the match. Ron unfortunately seemed to be heartbroken that Bulgaria lost, but Sienna couldn't help but catch Harry stealing glimpses at her. She blushed at the attention, but her mind kept crawling back to the one boy who seemed to snake her way into her heart more and more.
Draco Malfoy.
As the twins began to wrestle Ron, the group began to sing a silly tune. "Viktor I love you, Viktor I do! When we're apart my heart beats only for you!" Sienna laughed at the blush on Ron's face, who was totally starstruck and embarrassed. Outside the tent, shouts and screams of terror rang through the air. Fred was the first to hear it. "Ah, the Irish must be celebrating too much."
As soon as Ron's blush came and the good vibes stayed, it suddenly turned dark and cold.
"Stop! Stop it!" Arthur yelled, panic on his face. The air stood still as everyone of them stopped breathing to listen. "It's not the Irish. We've gotta get out of here." Sienna's face dropped and she looked at Harry, whose eyes glazed over with fear, which scared Sienna. She quickly grabbed her backpack and threw on her shoes. As everyone scrambled to gather their things, Sienna made her way over to who she felt most comfortable with - Ginny.
The group stumbled out of the tent as Arthur continued to shout orders to the lot. "Everyone get back to the portkey and stick together! George, Ginny is your responsibility!"
After that moment, it all became a blur. There were people running everywhere, screams echoed for miles. Sienna smelled fire every direction she turned, and that is when she saw the people behind all of this. A group of people walked in sync with one another in black cloaks, pointed black hoods, and a white mask on every face. Sienna froze, terror coursing through her body and she felt her blood run cold. She stared and the hooded figures moving swiftly towards her, shooting fire at tents everywhere. Suddenly she was tugged to the left of her in between two tents that were still intact. She began to gasp, but then turned to find the person who had grabbed her.
"Draco." She breathed, suddenly throwing her arms around the boy out of relief. Draco did not hesitate to return the embrace. They pulled apart quickly and Draco's face confirmed all of her feelings. "Sienna, get out of here. Go back home to your mum, and immediately send an owl to your father." Sienna began to speak but Draco immediately shushed her. "Please, Sea, run far away from here. Be safe." He wrapped his arms around her again, Sienna returning the hug to him. Draco looked out into the open field and spotted Hermione in the distance. "There's Granger. Go to her. I'll watch you." Draco instructed sternly. Sienna nodded curtly and ran as fast as she could to Hermione, who was starting to get lost in the crowd as well. Sienna finally caught up to her friend, who was panicked as well.
"Harry! H-he got caught in a crowd a-and they c-carried him away. I-I don't know where he is!" Hermione could barely catch her breath. "He's probably fine. Just keep going!" Sienna said, directing Hermione away from the chaos. After that, Sienna's only instinct finally kicked in.
Run.
