I Awoke to the sound of my name being called

"Sorine, Get up cmon we don't have forever" a man said "time does not pass here" a women countered.

I opened my eyes to a grey sky a swirling motion in the clouds betraying the severity of the incoming gale. but.. That made no sense Mondstadt has had no wind storms for countless years Barbatos had made sure of that so either there was a monster or... I bolted upright and in front of me was an oddly dressed man who looked as startled as I felt.

"Who are you, where am I" I attempted to say threateningly but it came out as more of a frightened scream.

The Kidnapper? answered "I am not sure, but this is your mind I think"

"My Mind?" That threw me for a loop as far as I was aware there was no sorcery that could affect the mind but sumeru discovered new things all the time and

I jumped because not only had the ding startled me but as the voice spook words appeared in my sight, However before I could think more on the implications of what the voice/words just said the man in front of me spoke again

"So we're back to the dings Heather?" the man sighed and then shook his head and looked towards me "Hello Sorine I know you must be confused, trust me I get it but please before anything else could you first listen to me?"

I nodded the man did not seem like a criminal and it was not unreasonable to listen to him for a little while. The man and I sat down chairs appearing under us and so I listened, I learned, and understood.

The man's story seemed fantastical, a different world one without archons or magic of any kind was something she had a hard time believing. but the dreams I've had of a different place and of the tall towers (skyscrapers as I now knew them to be called) helped me believe him. What I did not want to believe was that the man was me, sort of, he expressed some confusion with how it worked as well but it would explain the weird dreams I have had since I was to little to remember. it was then that I learned something that terrified me.

"I was almost killed?"

the man answered with a sigh "less killed and more subsumed, but yes"

"That's even worse!" I was almost killed, no even worse I was almost replaced by someone who would look like me, could act like me, but wasn't me and no one my friends, my mom would be able to tell. it was terrifying to think of to have your very self erased and changed with none being the wiser.

The man sighed again at my exclamation "I know, trust me I know, it is all I can think about which is why..." the man sighed again "The choice is up to you."

"What" I stated, shocked. The man had explained to me about the choices he was given, delete or subsume did this mean?..

The man spoke up again "I have had my life and while It may have been cut tragically short yours has just barely begun and what sort of person would I be if I cut yours."

"..." what could I say, what is there to say I just stared as the man. No David leaned back and looked at the stormy sky.

"you are from Mondstadt?" he asked, I nodded not that he could see it with his attention focused to the sky "Mondstadt" he continued "the city of freedom and bards, as a musician I would have loved to see it."

I stayed silent letting him think, I was glad however that he wanted to see my home his next words however sent chills down my spine.

"but" David mused "if your from Mondstadt then you'll need help." he looked at me "is ursa the drake still alive" I nodded "so that part of the manga hasn't happened yet" he muttered to himself "is varka grandmaster for the knights?" I again nodded "Dammit" David cursed to himself "that means your close to the events of the main game" David rubbed his face and looked at me "alright let's start with the events of the manga as it's the most relevant to you." but before he could say more,

Ding Because of power limits user Sorine must make a decision within six minutes. sorry.

And as soon as the bell digned David started to dissolve motes of light peeling away from his form first at a trickle but then a flood as more and more of him dissolved at a faster and faster pace.

"No!" David shouted "there is still so much to say"

Whatever was happening did not listen to him as it continued to speed up and up until there was only a faint outline of his form and then that outline shattered leaving only these words "I can only hope that you will have enough time to be prepared for what's going to happen."

After he dissolved completely the motes of light colassed into a floating orb which when looked at gave me a prompt.

Panicked I was about to confirm Dissolve but David's last words resounded in my head. Mondstadt was my home and I am a Sturmwache it was our family's historical job to warn of any oncoming storms.

"Heather?" David had told me the name of the god that was behind this "is it possible to still be myself even if I take his memories?"

it took a moment but she answered "Yes there is a way I would not suggest it however"

"I don't care" I interrupted "David told me you create champions to save endangered worlds that means that Teyvat my home must be in a lot of danger right?"

"are you certain" Heather replied "do you know what would happen if you failed?" I nodded "So be it, I can make it so that you only retain the knowledge contained similar in a way too how muscle memory works. To do this however those memories must be a part of you. what I need you to do is to focus on your own memories what makes you, you and to keep focusing on that separating your core from the new memories"

I nodded and sat down in a meditation pose taught to me by mom I closed my eyes and breathed in and out, in out, in out

"are you ready?" Heather asked I nodded and focused as the orb of light went into me and my surroundings faded.

An. So sumeru sucked me in for the past few weeks and, we'll I'm glad that Sorine will be staying in Mondstadt for some years to come. The lore bombs hoyo drops each region update make it really hard to write a somewhat lore accurate story

anyway next chapter Sorine will be dealing with the consequences of her actions not only in this chapter but from a few chapters ago she did after all disappear in the early morning to go fight of a Hilichurl camp.
