Chapter One

When she awakened, Perci knew that it wasn't a dream. She knew that she was in a different world now as she opened her eyes and beheld her surroundings. Her bag sat nestled against her side and she was still in her pjs that she had fallen asleep in. The air tasted different as well and the simple magic that existed in this world that she could sense was already beginning to seep into her skin. Perci slowly climbed to her feet and found that she was in a tunnel. Moving forward slowly, Perci gasped at the sight that befell her eyes.
Mountains curved around a large bay and created a valley that trees and waterfalls and other wildlife consumed. For some reason, however, she felt compelled to walk down the convenient path that cut through the trees until she got to the edge of where foliage met beach and water. A figure stood at the edge of the water, waiting for her.
"Lord Ulmo." Perci greeted hesitantly as she came to a stop beside him. He smiled softly at her.
"Hello, young one. I have come to help settle you in, as I believe is the saying. If you could remove that box from your bag? We'll get started there."
Perci hesitated slightly before reaching in and pulling the box out gently, noticing that it was faintly glowing. "Is it supposed to be doing that?"
"Yes, it is. Open it." He commanded softly.
She bit her lip but did as commanded. Inside were four globes with what looked like miniature cities nestled in four separate spots with little plaques under them with writing. "That's it?" She blurted out, causing the Valar to laugh and her to blush once she registered her words.
"No, that's not it, young one. If you could remove the one in the top right corner and then put the box away, that will suffice."
Perci quickly did as asked, gently taking the globe out and putting the others away.
"Now, I want you to toss that into the water."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, young one."
She tossed it into the water and watched as nothing happened for a minute. Perci opened her mouth to question Lord Ulmo when the water in the middle began to bubble as a city began to rise out of the water. Perci gaped as the once miniature city became life size. Three circles began to form around each other, with the one in the middle having a castle on it. Several bridges formed connecting the city to the main land. Perci watched as several ships appeared as well, docked around the outer ring. Along those bridges on the rails - or really the one that had appeared right in front of her and Lord Ulmo but she assumed the others had it as well - were a variation of ten foot tall Greek soldier statues and two twenty foot soldiers stood at the very entrance of the bridge with wicked looking spears ready to bar access to anyone who dared to enter.
"Wh-What is going on?" She asked, looking up at the Valar.
"You can't be a princess without a place to rule, now can you? Princess Persephone Jackson, daughter of Poseidon, I am pleased to present to you, your very own Atlantis."
Perci just gaped for a hot minute. "Y-You're giving me a city?"
"No, we are giving you a kingdom to rule, a kingdom of light, a kingdom of hope… Also, the statues? They are your soldiers that protect the city. You have a total of 192 soldiers on your six bridges and another 500 throughout the city. A majority of them are ten foot but the ones guarding the entrance to the bridges are larger on purpose to be more intimidating. An extra twenty in the surrounding area outside of the city and bridges. The tunnel that you came through when you awoke, has two ten foot statues for extra security. Then the rest are randomly placed around the forest and will activate and surprise attack any enemy that comes.
"There is also wildlife that I'm sure you'll be familiar of. Two herds of Pegasi, two herds of Unicorns, one herd of Thestrals, two Phoenix, and two herds of Gryphons are in the forest along with other non magical wildlife. You will also find that there are oversized lions, tigers, leopards, and cheetahs that can talk living in the main palace as they are your personal guard."
"Wait, what?!" Lord Ulmo didn't even look at her!
"I hope you settle in well here, Princess, we will be in touch." And he just disappeared!
Like what the f!
Perci took a deep breath and looked up at the two Greek soldier statues in front of her.
"Can you understand me?" She was a little spooked when the two statues tilted their heads so that they were staring at her. Perci was a lot spooked and shocked when one spoke.
"Yes, we can, my queen." Perci didn't even notice when the statue said queen instead of princess, so dumbfounded she was about the situation she had found herself in. "What can we do for you?"
She smiled hesitantly up at the statue.
"Well, I just wanted to say thank you for guarding Atlantis and myself. If there is anything that I can do for you and your brethren, please don't hesitate to ask." Perci wanted to smack herself. She was so awkward! They were statues!
The two soldiers exchanged slightly amused glances before turning back to her. "Do not worry, your majesty. We are inanimate when there is no threat or when you have no need of us. But we will pass on your message to the others. We thank you." With that, the statues stood up straight as if their whole conversation hadn't happened.
Taking a deep breath, she began to move forward and she could almost feel the statues eyes' on her form in an almost protective manner. Instead of being scared and creeped out, she found it slightly comforting knowing that these statues, no, these soldiers, would fight to protect her at any cost. It had been a long time since she last felt something like that. Usually, she was the one fighting to protect her charges at any cost. It was nice to be on the opposite side of it for once. It took her awhile to make it to the third circle as she kept stopping and admiring her surroundings. Perci knew she was the only human that lived in Atlantis at the moment but she could see that there were empty stalls for markets, empty stores for wares, extra homes for people that just weren't there but there was potential.
Finally making it to the palace entrance, she was awestruck by the towering towers and the architecture of it. There was an observatory, a bell tower, and four other buildings she had no idea what they contained, she saw over the wall that surrounded the palace. She approached the double doors only for them to open on their own and reveal five male lions sitting there patiently for her, behind them an open courtyard with paths leading to the different buildings of the palace. Perci froze for a moment before taking a breath and continuing forward.
As she came up to them, she watched as the lions bowed their heads in reverence to her.
"Queen Persephone, welcome." She definitely caught it that time. Why are they calling me a queen? I'm a princess at most.
"Thank you. Call me Perci, however, if you would. And your names?" She decided not to touch the princess/queen thing yet.
"My name is Aslan. These are Mufasa, Scar, Kovu, and Simba. They are the captains of your guards, while I am your personal guard with a command of five others. Each of them command two squads which contain twenty guards each. Our squads contain a mixture of species as well so not one squad is weaker or stronger than another. Is there any questions that we can answer?"
"Not at this time, thank you Aslan. I would like to explore the palace, however."
Aslan nodded once, turning his large head towards the four silent males. "You are dismissed. Work out your patrols for the city amongst yourselves and report back to me on what has been decided. This way, my queen." Perci fell into step beside him as he began to lead her further into the palace.
"Why do you call me 'queen'? I am a princess at most."
Aslan tilted his head. "Lord Ulmo proclaimed you as such as soon as you agreed to come to this world. He might not have called you a queen to your face, but you are one, the Queen of Atlantis. In fact, let me show you the throne room." He led her towards the building directly in front of her. Perci didn't realize as they walked the hall towards the throne room, they were traveling down. Arriving at large double doors, they opened and Perci gasped in awe. The whole throne room was underwater, a glass dome covered it. Four statues with tridents were stationed around steps leading up to a throne that looked like a sea monster's tentacles.
Perci slowly moved up the steps and slid her hand gently over the armrest of the throne. She saw that there was also a place on the side of the throne for her own trident to be placed. Slowly, she turned around and sat on the throne. Immediately a bright flash filled her vision causing her to gasp - not in pain - but in shock. She felt something settle onto her head and her hair come loose from the ponytail it had been in, hanging in waves around her. Perci felt her clothes being replaced and once she was able to clear her vision, she ignored her surroundings and instead examined her person.
She saw that she was wearing a long blue skirt that had a slit on one side that came almost to her waist, thigh high armored boots, armored gauntlets, and a vest of armor. As well as a cape and a scepter in her hand. Perci reached up with her other hand and gently touched what she now knew as a crown on top of her head. Looking up through her lashes, she saw that Aslan had been joined by a lioness, tiger, leopard, and cheetah whom were all looking at her in puzzlement. A glance out of the corner of her eyes showed that the four statues were once more still but their heads were turned her way, checking to see if she was alright.
"It seems that Atlantis has spoken." Aslan said. "All Hail the Queen!" The others echoed it. And faintly, Perci could hear it echoing throughout the palace.
All Hail the Queen, indeed.
