South Tower Ruins, The Old Continent, Amphibia

Sasha Waybright's death came a lot more suddenly than her wives'. Anne and Marcy had steady declines in health and had enough time to settle affairs and properly say goodbye to their loved ones. Not Sasha. She was in remarkably good health for a 97-year-old woman, and one day just collapsed on the floor and died in less than a minute.

They repeatedly denied it, but Sasha couldn't shake the suspicion that Anne and Marcy got tired of waiting for her to die and pulled some strings with the Grim Reaper. Then again, going out under mysterious circumstances was Sasha's style.

Well, after some time spent practicing her new powers, it was finally time for Sasha to visit the world where she became her true self. She wasn't as interested in seeing all of Amphibia as Anne and Marcy were, especially since they told her most of the important stuff before she got there, but there were a few particular spots she wanted to go to.

Naturally, the first thing she wanted to see was what had happened to the Toad Towers, since the toads had accepted her as one of their own and were a far greater family to her than her biological one ever was. The towers no longer simply served as military headquarters, but also as local headquarters for the Paladin system. Sasha started off by visiting the west and east towers, since she had never been to either before, and then to the North Tower. The North Tower was eventually rebuilt following its destruction by Andrias, with the animated corpse of Captain Aldo still presiding over it. Overall, the towers were less industrial and more homey, which Sasha thought was perfect.

Sasha met many descendants of the toads she commanded decades before. When she met Captain Mitchell, who introduced himself as the grandson of Percy and Braddock, she burst into happy tears which grew even happier when she found out the two toads had fully forgiven her.

She visited the South Tower ruins last. Unlike the North Tower, the South tower was never rebuilt as Paladin Grime considered the old tower as a symbol of toad cruelty. If he had his way then all of the towers would've been demolished, but the other Paladins overruled that decision.

"Anne, what are you doing!?"

"Something I should have done a long time ago: standing up to YOU!"

Sasha thought back to her confrontation with Anne. Never before had someone confronted her on her toxic behavior. Sure there was the occasional "you're not very nice" from kids at school she didn't get along with but there was nothing direct about it until then. Anne standing up to her forced Sasha to consider the problems with her friendships. She projected the awful parenting she experienced onto her friends without even realizing it. And when she first realized, did she stop? Of course not. Stubborn little Sasha would never admit to her mistakes and just doubled down on her behavior. She was no longer just a bad friend. She was a bad person.

"I'm done listening to you. I'm done trusting you. You are a horrible person, and I am done being friends with you!"

She got smacked in the face with consequences when Anne refused to listen to her about Andrias. She's honestly not sure what they could've done to stop him, but they could've done something. Besides, Andrias was exactly the type of person she was becoming: someone who would easily cast aside friendships and other personal feelings for the sake of power. To say that realization horrified her would be a massive understatement. Leading the Resistance helped her grow and become the person she was truly meant to be.

And when she returned to Earth she made a career from the lessons she learned. Anyone who knew Sasha before Amphibia would laugh if you told them she'd become a child psychologist. But after everything she went through she wanted to help every child with issues that she could, and she accomplished that either directly or through her bestselling books (with illustrations by Marcy!).

After exploring the ruins for a while, Sasha arrived at the adjacent graveyard. She paid her respects to Percy and Braddock, to Bog and Fens and Mire, before finally kneeling down in front of Grime's resting place.

It was crazy how in only 8 months Grime went from jailer to friend to father (not father figure, he was a true father). Even after she had driven everyone else away, he was always there for her, giving her encouragement and positivity. And yeah, she was manipulating him at first, but pretty quickly she began to care for him as well.

"Before I met you, I was nothing. Just a bully in a tower. But you… you inspired me to be so much more."

It wasn't until Grime's near-fatal injury by Darcy that she knew how much she truly changed him as well. She wasn't just redeeming herself, she redeemed him too.

Sasha would be lying if she said saying goodbye to Grime was harder for her than saying goodbye to the Plantars was for Anne, but at least Anne had loving parents to return to. Sasha's parents actually mellowed out slightly while she was gone but it wasn't enough.

Sasha shed a tear. A small flower grew out of the dirt where it landed, colored a light blue and a light yellow-green.

"Goodbye, Dad. I love you."

New Newtopia Outskirts

Sasha reconvened with Anne and Marcy in Wartwood before all three headed to the hill where they departed back in 2020. At the edge of the cliff is one of many memorials for the three stars burning bright who came from beyond and expelled the night. It was their weapons: Anne's tennis racket, Sasha's red heron sword, and Marcy's crossbow, all left behind in Amphibia.

"You know," said Anne, "it's impressive that these are still here."

"Were you expecting the wind to blow them away?" asked Sasha, raising an eyebrow.

Anne shrugged. "I don't know."

"We should probably leave some sort of protection over them, just in case," said Marcy.

The Calamity Trio stuck their hands out and cast an aura of energy around the three items. Visually nothing changed, but now nothing could damage or disturb them. The three of them stood there for a while, holding hands and looking out upon the ocean.

Eventually it was Sasha who broke the silence. "Do you think we'll ever forget them? Our families?"

Her wives looked at her in concern. "What do you mean, Sashy?" asked Marcy.

"We'll be doing this for frog knows how long and we've already proven we're not omniscient," said the blonde. "I just figured that thousands of years down the line we might forget stuff from the early parts of our life." She sighed. "Sorry, I didn't mean to ruin the mood."

Anne and Marcy wrapped Sasha in a hug.

"Don't be," said Anne. "It's a real concern."

"Well," pondered Marcy, "if a computer's storage can be backed up then I don't see why we can't do that with our own memories. Besides, we shouldn't have to worry about that for a while."

"Marcy's right," said Anne. "Now's not the time to worry about what we might lose. Now's our time to start a new adventure."

"To boldly go where no one has gone before," said Marcy in a whimsical voice.

Anne and Sasha chuckled. Always leave it to Marcy to cheer them up.

Author's Notes: I hope you enjoyed this. I've got a few ideas for future fics in this series. I'm not sure which one I'll go with next, but there will be more. We'll see how much I can write before Marcy's Journal invalidates some of it.

And yes, flower is the color of Grime's eyes.
