"There's the flood zone. Landslide zone. Conflagration zone… etc." Said the astronaut-themed superhero as he led the students of Class 1-A through the facility. He had a rather pudgy frame, making his effectiveness in combat situations questionable. The man tried denying that it was just Universal Studios Japan, but calling it "Unforeseen Simulation Joint" did little to convince Uraraka or anyone else.
"It's the space hero, Thirteen!" Izuku cried out, already grinning with enthusiasm. Class had yet to even begin and the boy was already on his toes in anticipation.
"He's a gentleman hero who does his best work in rescue scenarios!" Alucard was impressed by Izuku's encyclopedic knowledge of Japan's heroes. Such a fervor for analysis would prove useful in the event one of those heroes turned traitor.
Even though he had answered most of her questions on the bus, the ever-bubbly Mina Ashido stuck to his flank like a parasite. While she wasn't being particularly bothersome, her gaze being magnetized to him meant he had to put more effort into concealing his hidden familiars. "Madam Ashido, I mean no offense in asking if you would please release my arm."
"Why are you still talking like that?! Come on, we're all friends here. No need to act so formal." The girl had transitioned from daintily perusing his background to rudely questioning his habits. He was humble enough to accept her quirky personality, but this Mina Ashido…fit the hero mold a bit TOO well. Outgoing, excitable, and sunny, this little girl would make the perfect spokesmodel for U.A. And that was precisely why she was the last person he wished to socialize with.
While he was busy deflecting Ashido, Aizawa and Thirteen were off discussing something in secret. In a hushed tone, Aizawa and Thirteen were busy talking to each other while everyone else was distracted by the amusement park. The two spoke to one another in whispers, with their voices low enough to not be heard by his classmates. Unbeknownst to them, however, Alucard was listening in on their conversation.
"Thirteen. Where's All Might? I thought he was meeting us here." Aizawa's voice showed no sign of worry, though the look in his eyes revealed concern.
"About that, senpai…" He raised three of his fingers. "It seems he just reached his limit during his morning commute. He's resting in the break room."
Already looking drowsy, Aizawa tried to hide his utter disgust. "The height of irrationality." He grumbled, shaking his head in disappointment.
He surveyed the area, searching for something Alucard was not privy to. He was clearly on edge. Perhaps he was worried that some villains might take this opportunity to attack? He hoped that was true. If it were up to him, he would have already launched an ambush. Then again, if he was out to kill them, none of them would have lived to wake up that morning.
"So be it. Let's get started." Aizawa sighed.
While Thirteen began explaining his Quirk to the excited students of Class 1-A, Alucard delved deeper into the inner workings of USJ. All Might's absence presented a weakness in their itinerary, one that was easily exploitable. Unlike these heroes, Alucard was just as capable as the villains at recognizing such openings. Although upon closer inspection, Alucard found no signs of trickery. No hidden explosives or stealthy assassins cloaked in shadow. No army of minions marching around the building. No snipers poised to send a bullet through one of their skulls.
"Ah, yes. I'd forgotten. These are not vampires." Alucard realized, recalling his shades from the surrounding area. He'd spent decades butchering those worthless impersonators. He'd done that for so long that the thought of killing anything else felt foreign. "Well then. If these villains won't go out of their way to get noticed, I'll waste some time listening to this spaceman's worthless prattle."
And even if this "All-For-One" had somehow snuck past him, there was nothing the miscreant could do to surprise him. He had centuries to that man's decades. Alucard joined his classmates in listening to Thirteen, who had by now commenced his lecture on the importance of that day's training. Though his glass helmet left no hole through which to read his expression, the wide circular eyes beaming through gave plenty of hints.
"In our superpowered society, the use of Quirks is heavily restricted and monitored. It may seem that this system is a stable one, but we must never forget that it takes only one wrong move with an uncontrollable Quirk for people to DIE. During Aizawa's physical fitness test, you came to learn of your own hidden potential. Through All Might's training, you experienced the danger that your respective Quirks can pose to others. This class will show you a new perspective! You will learn how to utilize your Quirks to save lives!"
"Hmm... at least he appreciates the danger Quirks pose," Alucard smirked. "However, not all Quirks are meant to save lives. And some, regardless of their powers, are simply unfit to protect others." Reflecting on the examples Nezu had given him, Alucard remembered the images of the numerous Quirk users he'd been shown. Some were far too powerful to be near civilians, while others were so harmless that no villain would ever pay attention to them. Even in Class 1-A, Alucard had seen examples of less-than-ideal Quirks. The lecherous child, Minoru Mineta, was undeniably weak in comparison to "prodigies" like Bakugo or Todoroki. And his perverted personality made him further doubt his future as a hero.
"Your powers are not meant to inflict harm. I hope you leave here today with the understanding that you're meant to help people." Ha! He choked down his laughter. What folly. Did this man honestly believe these students could handle any competent villains without hurting someone in the process?
It was disrespectful of them to treat their work so lightheartedly. Though they shrugged it off, there was no denying that they were going to be headed out into a field of battle. One where their foes wouldn't be pulling their punches. And if these "heroes" had their heads up in the clouds rather than their eyes focused on what was in front of them, they wouldn't be able to help anyone, much less themselves.
As his classmates clapped in unison following Thirteen's speech, Alucard maintained a neutral smile. These teachers who were meant to be preparing them for the hardships of heroism were doing far less than he'd hoped. Meanwhile, Iida shouted out his praise, yelling "Bravo! Braaavo!" Thirteen bowed deeply, clearly overjoyed at how well-received his words were. "That is all! I thank you for listening!"
Alucard tried not to roll his eyes. Apparently his classmates considered these banal lessons satisfying. The man's ability to summon black holes had certainly sucked all the fun out of this day so far. Thirteen should have perhaps given examples of his greatest failures, perhaps accompanied by a demonstration of how hazardous his powers could be. He could have done more to teach this lesson. He seemed far too comfortable with his abilities.
But Alucard could respect that.
So reckless and confident. Trusting in both the strength of his allies as well as his own. In the face of adversity, these "heroes" stood against it with smiles on their lips. And when things turned sour, which would certainly happen eventually, he hoped they would lose none of their composure. That their dreams were fulfilled and their smiles everlasting. That was a privilege reserved for their kind, and he wished Izuku Midoriya lived up to the expectations of his teachers.
Aizawa shuffled next to Thirteen, leaning back as he turned to address the class. "Great. First off…"
He noticed them before Aizawa did. Down in the courtyard below appeared a swirling cyclone of black smoke. Like the eye of a hurricane, the cyclone gradually grew until a single crusty, pale hand emerged from its shadowy depths. Aizawa's face paled as he realized what he had already gleaned from the stench alone. They stank of filth. Trash. Decay. And he knew they were here to spread that odor. The first man to exit the cyclone looked to have not been outside in months. His hair was white as bone, and the veins in his eyes bulged profusely.
"HUDDLE UP AND DON'T MOVE!" Aizawa screeched. The other students reeled at their teacher's miraculous reaction. What was going on? Not sure what they should be doing, they stared blankly at their teacher. Why were they not preparing themselves for the oncoming fight? Could their instincts really be so dull?
Alucard was beginning to feel like it would be more efficient to let his classmates do most of the fighting-because they were in desperate need of experience. Without it, how could this collection of "talented" Quirk users ever shine?
"THIRTEEN! PROTECT THE STUDENTS!" Aizawa donned his goggles and unleashed his bandages. Alucard found his gaze drawn to them, curious to see how this hero used them in battle.
"What the heck's that?! More battle robots? Like during the entrance exam?" Questioned Kirishima.
Alucard had to restrain himself from laughing at the boy's amateurish behavior. "Do those look anything like battle robots?" He asked unabashedly, in awe at the boy's ignorance.
"DON'T MOVE! THOSE ARE VILLAINS!"
"And plenty of them." Alucard was delighted to see some action. Even though it might have been better in the long run for him to work from the sidelines and let Class 1-A do most of the work, he was itching for a proper fight. The closest he'd had to a fair fight in decades had been against Millennium, and they were long gone. Now he was eager to see how powerful these villains were.
"Thirteen… and Eraser Head, is it…?" One of the villains numbers wondered aloud. With flecks of that same black smoke billowing out of his forehead, it seemed like this was the man that'd generated their portal. "According to the staff schedule I received the other day… All Might is supposed to be here." Ah, so they'd come for All Might? Not because they knew he was gone and saw the opportunity. Well, that was reassuring. It showed that their information network wasn't constantly surveying them.
"Of course. That whole incident was this scum's doing." Aizawa mumbled, leaping from the upper level and unfurling his bandages. Perhaps foolishly. Was he really so confident in his abilities?
The teenager with a disembodied hand attached to his face, who refused to identify himself like cartoon villains normally would, stood silently muttering to himself, though Alucard could hear everything he said. "Where is he…?" He mumbled, his voice low and dry. "We've come all this way. And brought so many playmates… All Might… The Symbol of Peace… Is he here…?" He sounded so incredibly disappointed that Alucard could only draw it up to naivety. Such a childish fool, he thought. Clearly this was his first time attacking All Might.
The bleached teenager stooped low as if he were sniffing the ground. Menacing Class 1-A with his sinister gaze, he whispered, "I wonder if some dead kids will bring him here?" Perhaps. Unfortunately for this toddler, that would not be the case today.
He wished he could just slaughter the whole lot, but sadly he was not allowed the pleasure. No matter how he tried twisting it, this did not fit the "worst-case scenario" Nezu had spoken of. He hated to wait for satisfaction, but he was willing to if it meant savoring the look on this boy's face when his plan failed. And it would fail. He'd make sure of that.
Looks of utter dread had descended upon his classmates faces as they stood stark silent at the sight of these villains. Most of them were shocked by the mere presence of these weaklings. Again, Alucard felt the desire to kill these idiots and show his bumbling colleagues a bit of the real world. And yet, sadly, he could not. They could use the experience to grow, and he was not going to deny them this lesson, no matter how much it annoyed him.
"Villains?! No way!" Looking back, Alucard found himself staring at a floating shirt. Ah, that must have been Hagakure speaking. He wondered why she wore clothing when she was invisible. And she seemed unable to turn it off, as he had yet to see her face. "What villains'd be dumb enough to sneak into a school for heroes?"
"You'd be surprised…" Alucard whispered to himself. He'd lost count of how many such idiots he'd met over the centuries.
"Sensei, aren't there intruder sensors?" Asked Yaoyorozu, seeming far calmer than many of her peers. She showed no signs of faltering beneath the initial pressure. In fact, she seemed suited to it. "Impressive," thought Alucard. It seemed his initial impression of her had been inaccurate. Maybe she could provide him with reason to care about his classmates. Hopefully the rest of them would follow suit.
Thirteen scoffed nervously, as if dumbfounded by the villains' sudden arrival. "Yes, of course there are…!"
Todoroki was peering over the edge of the handrail. There was no worry on his face, only his usual stoic expression. "Are they only here, or also at the main building…? Either way, if the sensors aren't working…It has to be one of their Quirks that's doing it." Or the villains had just hired a good hacker. Exactly how versatile could a Quirk be? "This place is far from the campus, and they picked a time when there'd be few people here…so maybe they're not as dumb as they seem. They must have an objective, because this is a well-coordinated sneak attack."
An apt observation, Alucard gave him that. The only issue being that he was within earshot of their assailants, and anything he said would be noticed by their attackers. Down in the courtyard, the boy with bleached hair and a ridiculous costume shot them an intense glare. The man made of fog and this odd orphan looked to be the de facto leaders of this rag tag group. A strange tree woman, some anonymous woman with an axe, and a man carrying odd tubes on his person. There were others, but they lacked any semblance of organization or uniformity. The desire to distinguish themselves seemed prevalent among their ranks.
Unflinching at the profound odds against him, Aizawa shoved Todoroki behind him and stood at the ready. Admirable. Perhaps this man had more to offer than he'd anticipated. "Thirteen! Begin evacuation! And try calling the school! One of these villains must be jamming the sensors. There's a good chance one of their electric-types is causing the interference. Kaminari, try using your Quirk to signal for help." Was that Kaminari's Quirk? A signal flare of some kind? Regardless, he praised Aizawa's quick assessment. He'd identified the immediate threats and sent someone to sound the alarm. If the students of Class 1-A wanted to survive, they'd listen.
But Midoriya Izuku wasn't so reasonable. Instead, All Might's successor responded by totally ignoring his teacher's warnings. "But sensei, you can't fight them all alone! Against that many…Even you can't nullify all their Quirks! As Eraser Head, your fighting style involves erasure and a quick binding capture. Head-on battle isn't…" If the man said he was going to do something, let him. He surely had the experience to know his limits.
The boy's encyclopedic knowledge of the heroes and their unique Quirks earned him Alucard's respect. And his defiant attitude fit his future role as Japan's Symbol of Peace. But there just seemed to be so many faults in his outlook that would have to be dealt with at some point. One day he would be called on to lead from the front, but today was not that day. Now was the time he learned to analyze the situation and follow whatever orders he was given.
Eraser Head turned and looked back at Izuku. Alucard hoped he would reprimand Izuku for his ignorance. "No good hero is a one-trick pony." Well, that was disappointing. His bandages seemed to soar around him as Aizawa readied himself for combat. "Thirteen! Take care of them." The astronaut gave an affirmative nod before quickly jostling the students of class 1-A away from the scene.
Many of them voiced their displeasure, Bakugo being the loudest of them all. The fiery boy seemed intent on murdering everyone in the room. Alucard shared that sentiment but joined the others in dissuading him. Whilst following his classmates, Alucard subtly summoned a tiny pigeon to join a passing flock. The birds flew past everyone unnoticed, perching atop a tree not far away. Through its eyes he could watch events unfold, get a read on Shota Aizawa's abilities, and perhaps learn more about the hand boy and his foggy companion.
"Not bad…" Alucard thought, praising Aizawa's skills. After leaping into the fray without hesitation, the man had quickly incapacitated five villains at once and gained the attention of the rest, giving Class 1-A plenty of time to make a swift escape.
"Wow…! He can hold his own even when outnumbered!" The young Izuku noted, staying back to foolishly admire the view. The child had no sense of danger. Now was the worst time for him to explore his obsession with heroes. Thankfully, Tenya Iida shared Alucard's sentiments.
"This is no time for analysis! Hurry up and evacuate!" The class president shouted.
Alucard firmly grasped Izuku's shoulder like he had in class, drawing his quarry's attention away from the conflict behind them. "He's right, Midoriya. This isn't our battle to fight." As much as it irked him to include himself amongst their inexperienced ranks, he had no other choice. Izuku nodded apologetically and ran beside him towards their peers. The exit doors weren't far, but Alucard trusted that the villains wouldn't let hostages like these slip through their fingers so easily.
"I won't allow that." A portal opened right in front of them. A raspy voice came from inside it, coolly confirming Alucard's suspicions.
Just as the duo rejoined their classmates, a wall of black mist encapsulated the doors, blocking them off from their only practical means of escape. The rather elegant form of the hand boy's companion stepped gracefully out of his shadowy portal, tilting his head lightly, as if mocking them.
"Greetings. We are the League of Villains." How creative. At least Millennium had granted him the pleasure of annihilating an organization with a good name. "Forgive our audacity, but…Today, we've come here to U.A. High School-this bastion of heroism…to end the life…of All Might, the Symbol of Peace."
Did there exist some other reason why a group like this would come here? For him to ask such an obviously rhetorical question, it was clear he was simply taking advantage of the children's fear. But they were surely aware of that…
"Ugh…," he groaned.
Catching a glimpse of Izuku's expression, Alucard noticed how wholly petrified the young man looked. While the boy had proven to be a melodramatic personality, he'd at least hoped that Izuku would have known not to overreact to this degree. Hopefully it was just an act because otherwise, this job was becoming more difficult by the hour.
"We were under the impression that All Might would be here today…But… It seems his schedule was revised?"
Thirteen, finally remembering what responsibilities he had to uphold, placed himself between the foggy man and Class 1-A. One of the fingers of his glove opened, unveiling a thin chamber that lay inside. The instructor had mentioned his Quirk being to summon black holes. Did he seriously intend to release one with his students still nearby?
"Well…no matter. My role remains unchanged." The creature proudly declared.
An intimidating veil of black smoke began emanating from him, carrying with it an aura of murderous intent. Both he and Thirteen seemed to be readying themselves for their oncoming duel. Unfortunately for them, they forgot to account for the more aggressive characters standing not too far away.
*BOOOOMM*
*CRACK*
"NOT IF WE END YOU FIRST! BETCHA DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING!"
From behind Thirteen, the two most volatile combatants in Class 1-A had rushed forward to land two powerful blows on the villain's person. The resounding blast echoed across the chamber, briefly drawing the attention of some villains below. Acting together, Kirishima and Bakugo had taken the pleasure of interrupting the drab standoff and getting things to a proper start.
Sadly for them however, their foe remained unscathed. Despite being dissipated by the sheer force behind their combined attack, his form just as easily reformed not long after. To make matters worse for the duo, the man seemed to be praising them. The man's Quirk was irritating for fighters as straightforward as Bakugo and Kirishima. After all, you can't kill mist. Alucard knew this better than anyone.
"That was close…" The villain replied, congratulating their efforts. "Yes… Students though you may be, you certainly are the best of the best."
As straightforward as they were, this also led to them being just as ineffective as all the other heroes. Their opponent was just standing there. Talking. Why had they stopped their assault? To gloat? Alucard took more pleasure out of bragging than anyone else, but that was only because victory for him was an inevitability. Not so for them. Bakugo had a fist for a brain, so his inaction made sense. But Alucard had hoped that Kirishima, apparently the most coolheaded of Bakugo's circle, would be the one to lay down the pain onto this villain. Just another addition to the growing list of letdowns.
Thirteen, realizing that they'd let their opportunity slip through their fingers, immediately moved to save the two students. "No, get back! Both of you!" Unfortunately, he'd realized this reality far too late to be of any assistance.
Alucard felt the villain amassing his powers, gathering it all together within him. He considered stopping him, but by now Alucard had resolved to let his classmates learn from this debacle.
"Begone."
*FOOOOOMM*
He unleashed a massive plume of smoke, swiftly engulfing the entirety of Class 1-A under a cloak of darkness. Some tried to escape its shifty grasp, and several succeeded. Unfortunately, the vast majority were enveloped by the shadowy sheet. Deciding it would be in his best interests to join Izuku, Alucard maneuvered through the crowd and joined the shivering child. Just before they were transported, however, Alucard conjured a handful of pigeon familiars to act as lookouts. That way, if any of his classmates were at risk, he could help.
For a brief moment, Alucard lost track of his classmates. He could hear voices gasping and crying out in fear, but the sounds died out along with the light. Then, out of a swirling vortex, Alucard found himself above a large body of water. He could detect scores of hostiles lurking beneath him. Sticking to his self-given background, Alucard decided against teleporting to dry land and opted to instead transform into a flock of crows.
"WAAAAAAAHHHH!?" A voice cried out.
Shifting to the right, Alucard saw a heavily distraught Izuku on a swift descent down towards the water. Wasting no time, he rapidly flew to his panicked comrade and spared him from a meeting with the sharks lurking in the waters below. Underneath them, Alucard could sense several dangerous presences swimming. All of them hungry. He deployed crows to grab each of Izuku's limbs as he carried him to a nearby ship.
"Alex-san!" Izuku cried out. Alucard returned with a confident smile before asking him what he thought had happened. The incredulous Midoriya shook himself out of his stupor, having stared in wonder at Alucard's "Quirk" at work.
The boy shook his head in disbelief. "He teleported us! Must be his Quirk!" For some odd reason, the boy couldn't seem to fathom the idea that there were people who wanted to kill his idol. "They wanna kill All Might?! Just… What the hell is going on here?" Perhaps it was just sentimentality, but Izuku couldn't let himself be held back by his emotions. If he wanted to be the greatest hero, he'd have to learn to set aside his own feelings and focus on the problem he'd been presented with.
"We can ponder that mystery later…" Alucard advised, "For now, let's focus on getting everyone out of this mess." He proceeded to then daintily plop him down onto the deck of the boat while he returned to his student form.
As Alucard was readjusting the cuffs of his sleeves, he recalled the circumstances of their sudden relocation. "Now then… I wonder if anyone else was teleported with us…"
That question was answered when Mineta was forcibly launched from the lake, landing on the boat deck with a painful SLAM. "GAH!" He cried out. Izuku looked worried for him, though Alucard had little sympathy for the pervert. He was still alive, so it couldn't have been one of the villains who'd brought him out of the water. The long tongue which had delivered him retreated back down the side of the boat before Tsuyu Asui climbed over the railing.
He was glad to see her. Though behaving strangely at times, her frog-like facial features seemed to hide a clever and calculating mind that Alucard hoped she'd put to use here. "Ms. Asui. I imagine our dear Mr. Mineta did something to earn this level of mistreatment?"
"Call me Tsuyu." She responded as she reeled in her lengthy tongue. "But yes, he did. And no, I don't want to talk about it. Besides, we seem to be in trouble here." The frog girl didn't need to point at the enemies that were circling their vessel. She may have escaped their clutches once, but a single frog wouldn't last long against a group of sharks.
"We'll need a plan." He commented, analyzing their faces. Mineta was, unsurprisingly, absolutely terrified. Alucard wasn't sure if the child was soaking in saltwater, sweat or urine. None of those would have surprised him. Tsuyu stood near Izuku and himself, listening closely to their exchange, though it was mostly Izuku doing the chatting.
"They know our schedule…! The simplest explanation is that they caused the media rush the other day in order to get their intel." Alucard was happy to see Izuku wearing a serious expression. For the first time since they'd met, All Might's successor showed Alucard why he'd been selected. "It's like Todoroki said… They've been waiting for this chance… and they prepared for it well."
Appreciating his analysis, Alucard gave Izuku a light pat on the head. "Nicely said." He praised, leading Izuku to retract slightly. Outside of Inko Midoriya, no one had ever treated him like this before. But Alucard's pleasant smile and encouraging touch helped calm his nerves, before ultimately accepting his taller classmates head pat.
Off to the side, Mineta couldn't believe what Izuku had said. Despite wearing what looked like a pair of underwear, Mineta still tried putting on a brave face. "But, but! There's no way they could ever kill All Might! He'll thrash 'em once he gets here. Bam! Pow!" He thrust his little fists out in a tiny show of defiance.
"Mineta…" Tsuyu mumbled. Like Alucard, she seemed frustrated with his oblivious conclusion. "…They must have figured out a way to kill him. Otherwise, why come here just to get beaten?" By now, most of the moisture on Mineta had evaporated and he'd regained some semblance of dignity. But the longer Tsuyu spoke, the more beads of sweat seemed to flow down his forehead. "I wouldn't put it past them. That one guy promised to kill us too, after all. Who says we can even hold out until All Might gets here? Even when he does show up… who says he won't be killed?"
Alucard nodded. "She has a point. No one would ever plan an ambush as blatant as this without some ace in the hole."
His stubby classmate's face had turned into a waterfall of perspiration by this point. "SHUT UP, NEW GUY!" Riled into a panic, he scrambled to grab Izuku's wrist. "M- M- M- MIDORIYA!"
Perhaps it hadn't been their words that had caused him to panic. As Alucard listened closely to the surrounding area, the sound of bodies breaking through the waters surface filled his eardrums. "THAT BRAT! I'LL KILL HER!" Someone shouted from below. Peering over the handrail, Alucard and his three companions realized that they were well and truly surrounded. There was no safe path out for them. Well, at least for those three. Alucard knew he could easily carry them out of this predicament, but he wanted them to come up with the idea first.
Behind him, Izuku seemed to have fallen back into his habit of silently muttering to himself. He lacked self-awareness. If he knew how to read others, he would know that his muttering often creeped out those around him.
"So they must have figured out a way to kill All Might… Probably… That must be it… Doesn't make sense otherwise…! But why kill him? Because everyone calls him the Symbol of Justice? Because he stands against villains…? Against evil…? …No. I mean… There has to be some specific reason…" Izuku's face took on a mosaic of different emotions as he tried to decrypt what lay behind the villains plotting.
"He has no idea what it is." Chuckling, Alucard held back his laughter. His face gave it all away. Could the boy not comprehend that there existed those who just wanted to make others suffer? To destroy society and everything it stood for? Were their intentions stupid? Yes! "But that's exactly what makes them human…" thought Alucard. Unlike him, they were capable of throwing their lives away for a worthless cause. And he could admire that level of stubborn stupidity. It reminded him of himself, from before his… pitiful misstep.
Despite having not even the faintest idea behind the villains' intentions, Izuku seemed unfazed by their unlikely circumstances. "If they… if there's even a chance that they have a way to beat All Might…! Then we have to… We've got… a job to do! We have a fight to win!" The boy had determined himself to fight his way out, followed by the frog girl and of course Alucard. Mineta stood in the back trembling, but a slight nudge from Alucard forced him to join in.
There was no chance that they'd die, he'd make sure of that. What Alucard couldn't be sure of was whether or not Izuku would live up to his expectations. He hoped to avoid having to interfere, since doing so would run counter to Nezu's intent. Now, listening to that stuffed animal cry about this boy's lackluster performance would be quite amusing. But in the long run, Izuku needed to experience difficulty and learn to be a leader in order to develop into the Symbol of Peace Japan needed.
"So, what's your plan, Midoriya?" Alucard promptly asked, encouraging him to take on the leading role.
Izuku scratched the back of his neck. "Umm… I was hoping you'd have one, Alex-kun." The boy mumbled, embarrassed.
…This was going to be a challenge.

Principal Nezu was hurriedly strolling down the hallway that led to the room where Toshinori Yagi was currently resting. He'd just been informed of Toshinori's reckless behavior. Behavior which had forced him to abstain from most of his duties that day. Nezu couldn't blame the man for saving innocent lives in his free time, but Symbol of Peace really needed to learn to rely on others.
As he drew closer to the door, Nezu could hear All Might mumbling in secret. The Principal of U.A. could already imagine Toshinori hunched over in his chair, mulling over all the details he'd been given. "Hmm… I can't contact Thirteen or Aizawa… Good reasons or not, I put my hero work ahead of my teaching… That was… quite foolish. What do I tell them when I show up at the end? Anyway, I should be fine in another ten minutes…"
Unbeknownst to the oblivious All Might, he shared several bad habits with his successor, Midoriya Izuku. One of them being the tendency to mumble far louder than they thought they were, making it very obvious to anyone listening exactly what they were thinking. And Nezu had been familiar with Toshinori long enough to know that the man was far too impatient to wait another ten minutes.
"NO, I'M… GOING!" A booming voice blasted through the door, sending shockwaves across the hallway. Surprisingly, Toshinori's shouts of today were actually quieter than they were during his prime. Nezu wasn't quite sure if he should consider that a curse or a blessing.
"Hold on!" Nezu swung the door open and cut Toshinori off from his rant, catching him completely off guard and even making a spurt of blood come out of his mouth.
"The Principal!" Toshinori exclaimed.
Nezu gave Toshinori an adorable little salute. "Yes! Am I a mouse, a dog, or a bear? All you need to know is that I'm… the Principal!"
For Nezu, it felt good talking to Toshinori again. After his recent encounter with Alucard, the little mammalian creature was in desperate need of All Might's comforting presence. It was reassuring, talking to someone who was taller than him yet who didn't radiate any level of murderous intent. Though he did feel guilty knowing that he was the one who'd stationed that same beast at the side of Toshinori's successor. It brought him no joy knowing that he was actively deceiving someone who he counted as both the best hero in Japan as well as one of his closest friends.
"Your coat is looking splendid today, sir!" Toshinori sat on the floor as he spoke, nearly prostrating himself before the miniscule Nezu.
"My secret is keratin! No human could produce such luster!"
The two went on to have a brief conversation which involved Nezu reprimanding All Might's decision to use his powers despite knowing he'd need them later. By now, All Might could only maintain his muscled form for a few hours, and every minute mattered. A minute could be the difference between another life saved or lost. And with his new responsibilities as an educator, he'd need as much time as he could muster if he wanted to keep his weakness secret.
In his own mind, Toshinori Yagi was beginning to doubt the logic behind this conversation. He wanted to head off to USJ to do precisely what Nezu hoped he would, which was to teach the students about heroism. Unfortunately, Nezu had his own bad habits that he was woefully unaware of. First and foremost being a severe propensity to ramble. This was a necessary discussion in Nezu's eyes since he hadn't been allowed to ramble for a few days. Sir Integra Hellsing and Alucard were the reason for that. Their atmosphere effectively snuffed out his normally talkative demeanor. But now that he was back on home turf, he intended to take full advantage of this opportunity, much to Yagi's chagrin.
"First, on the inevitable stresses and burdens when walking the line between hero and educator…" Nezu began, keen on going off on one of his signature lectures.
"Sorry, youngster Midoriya…" Thought Toshinori, knowing full well he'd be delayed a good deal.

Back on the boat, Alucard briefly turned his attention away from the trio of Izuku, Tsuyu and Mineta and focused his conscience into his familiars. At the moment, this familiar was overlooking the place they'd been teleported away from. There, the group that'd been left behind seemed to be deliberating over what they were going to do next. Even though it was difficult to catch everything they said from where the familiar was perched, it wasn't difficult to grasp their plan. Act as a shield for Iida while he escaped to alert the school of what was happening. In another sector, Shoto Todoroki had been dealt the worst hand of them all, yet had played the best game. Faced with a room full of menacing foes, he'd immobilized them all with a massive wall of ice. The boy seemed unimpressed by his opponents. Alucard hoped to see the wunderkind of Class 1-A's full potential at some point. Maybe he'd make for a good challenge?
Kirishima and Bakugo had been teleported into another zone. Together, fortunately for them. He doubted Bakugo would have been comfortable or even willing to fight alongside anyone else. Even then, that encounter saw Bakugo do most of the fighting. Thrusting himself into combat and bursting down scores of enemies, he certainly liked to show off. Granting his enemies no space to breathe, his style seemed far more practical than those of his peers. He applauded the boy's egotistical fighting style, but acknowledged it certainly wouldn't do for a hero to act in such a fashion.
Momo Yaoyorozu, Kaminari Denki and Kyoka Jiro had all been transported to a particularly rocky zone in USJ. He recalled how his classmates had compared his "Quirk" to Yaoyorozu's. And though she had denied it, Alucard was surprised by how similar her abilities were to his "Composition". Extracting steel blades and machetes from her skin, Yaoyorozu quickly equipped her teammates as they gathered themselves. They all wore stern expressions, which he was glad to see. Hopefully that translated to more than just appearance.
Alucard had hoped to see his new classmates better sides, and thus far into their first real encounter, they hadn't disappointed. They were all managing their individual scenarios adequately, with none of them showing signs of breaking under the pressure. Some standouts were the cold yet talented Todoroki who had yet to reveal his true colors, the thoughtful and managerial Yaoyorozu, and Bakugo. He only stood out, not because of anything good, but because he was just one to watch out for. Who knew when he'd turn his back on them and join an organization like the "League of Villains"? Alucard had wanted to keep watching, but Mineta's high-pitched scream drew him back to his main body.
"HOW CAN WE POSSIBLY FIGHT, YOU DUMBASS? THESE GUYS MIGHT EVEN BE TOUGH ENOUGH TO KILL ALL MIGHT! YOU'RE CONTRADICTING YOURSELF, MIDORIYA! OUR ONLY HOPE IS TO HIDE SOMEWHERE UNTIL THE U.A. HEROES COME TO RESCUE US!"
He wanted to whack the little coward. How had this brat managed to join what was supposed to be the most talented class in U.A? He'd have to bring this up with Nezu when he got the chance, because this kid had no reason to be here. Thankfully, both Izuku and Tsuyu seemed adamant on disregarding Mineta's worthless input. Midoriya, considering the fact that Tsuyu had been teleported to the Flood Zone, gathered that the villains knew little about the students Quirks. A commendable analysis. All Might's successor regularly flip-flopped between insightful contribution and childlike weeping. The few instances of Izuku's praiseworthy traits justified All Might's choice, but the rest of the time made Alucard question All Might's sincerity.
"They've got us beat when it comes to numbers and experience, so there's only one way for us to win! Exploit the fact that they don't know our Quirks!" The young Midoriya had made some good points, though he had yet to offer anything resembling a concrete plan of escape.
"I can jump really high… and stick to walls. My tongue can stretch to a maximum of 20 meters. Also, I can spit up my stomach to clean it, and secrete a poisonous fluid… I say 'poisonous', but it really just stings a little." Tsuyu then admitted her last two abilities weren't that useful. No one wanted to say anything, but they all knew she was right. What kind of scenario would they be in where either of those could help? On the side, Mineta was fantasizing over Tsuyu's usage of the word "secrete". Alucard could have read his mind to see what exactly the midget was thinking. However, not only would that kill him, but it would probably be disgusting.
Izuku went next, explaining the Quirk he'd inherited from All Might. Alucard was curious to learn if there was any evolution in this One For All. "I… I have super strength, but… immediately after using it… it messes me up. My Quirk… it's a double-edged sword."
"So that's what happened to your costume." Alucard added, composed as ever. It was sad to see that the boy hadn't evolved the Quirk past All Might's version, but he had time to change. He patted Izuku on the back. "Once things are back to normal, why don't I help you work on that?" Izuku, adrenaline still pumping in his veins, nodded in agreement. Was it just the ecstasy of being in command, or had the boy gotten used to being treated in a friendly manner by a relative stranger?
Alucard had already clarified his own Quirk back on the bus, so the only one left was Mineta, who proceeded to remove one of his orbs and stick it to the boat's steel frame.
*SQUISH*
"It's really sticky. If I'm feeling good, it'll stick there all day. A new one'll grow in the old one's place, but if I take too many, I'll start bleeding. They'll bounce off my own body without sticking to me." No one spoke as he stared back at them in utter disbelief. Why was no one talking? Well, because they were all busy trying to formulate some way in which his Quirk could help. Alucard could imagine a few ways but suggested none of them. He was busy relishing the sight of Mineta tearing up.
"LIKE I SAID, WE JUST GOTTA WAIT TO BE RESCUED! MY QUIRK IS-"
Not waiting for Mineta to finish his sentence, Alucard grabbed hold of the trio and dodged the oncoming blast.
*THOOOOOM*
The boat was bisected right where they'd initially been standing. Tsuyu and Izuku both thanked Alucard for his assistance. Mineta, on the other hand, was still weeping. He shook his head in acknowledgement of what Alucard had done, though that did little to lessen the boy's humiliating situation.
"I'm getting bored over here. Let's finish this thing." One of the villains yelled, and Alucard had to agree. Only a few hours into his mission and he was already getting tired of just watching these villains act so cautious. Go all out! You're villains! Your lives don't matter! Act with reckless abandon and go on the attack already, he wanted to shout.
Disappointingly, the one who acted with reckless abandon was not the villain but Minoru Mineta, who proceeded to put his "secret" quirk on full display, tossing all of his balls into the water for all to see. Unsurprisingly, they had no effect. Actually, they did something. Convince the villains that the balls could do something. As the sticky orbs floated in the water, the villainous ranks backed off slightly.
Alucard wanted to facepalm at the sheer stupidity of it all. Why was this kid in Class 1-A? These villains were adapted to the ocean, just swim under the balls! He discarded the boy as a lost cause and began formulating a convenient way to carry them all off the boat. But Izuku, it seemed, hadn't given up just yet.
"The moment the enemy thinks they've won… represents your best chance." Izuku clenched his fists. Looking closer, Alucard noticed that he was shaking. Izuku gave him a feeble smile, doing his best to seem calm. "All Might once said that during a documentary interview." He was grinding his teeth; he was so tense. He was clearly putting on a front to maintain morale, but that didn't change the fact that he was utterly terrified. "This is… the only way we can win!" He'd resolved himself to carry out whatever plan he'd come up with. What exactly that was, Alucard could only speculate. But chances were that it was going to be incredibly dangerous and rash.
And he was right, as Midoriya marched over to the railing and vaulted over the boat's hull, shouting "GO TO HELLLLLL!"
Was he being serious? No, he couldn't be. Alucard hadn't seen Midoriya use his Quirk yet, so all he knew was that the recoil damaged him as much as the attack dealt out. If he broke his entire body before the main event, he'd be placing everyone else at risk.
"Get down, you two." Tsuyu emphasized, pressing Alucard and Mineta down low on the floor. He peered above the railing to catch a glimpse of Izuku's attack. He was curious to see just how powerful One For All had made him, as well as how far he was willing to go to overcome this first hurdle.
"DELAWARE…" The air grew tense as everyone watched the green-haired boy fly above the water. Aiming his fist downward, Izuku snapped his fingers. "SMASH!" The resulting shockwave emitted a deafening sonic boom, one which blew a massive hole through the entire basin and left a gaping wound in the Flood Zone. All the villains who'd been sitting and waiting in the water were subsequently blown away by the gargantuan waves produced by his attack.
He hadn't broken his body, that at least was a positive. His middle finger may have been out of commission, but nine fingers were better than none. "TSUYU! ALEX-KUN! MINETA!" Unflinchingly, Tsuyu leapt off the sinking ship and wrapped her long tongue around Izuku's waist. In tandem with her, Alucard transformed into a flock of crows and grabbed Tsuyu by her belt. Mineta couldn't do much to help, but he began excitedly shouting and throwing his balls into the water. From what he could tell, they did help to stick all their foes together and force them towards the center of the whirlpool that was forming.
Clutching his mangled hand, Izuku couldn't hold back from elucidating on his plan. "By delivering a strong shock to the water's surface… it spreads… and once it rushes back into the center…"
"-They're all washed up." Said Tsuyu, finishing Midoriya's sentence. "Looks like we beat our first challenge. Or something."
As they flew back towards the main courtyard, Alucard took some time to applaud their efforts. "Nicely done, everyone", he said with a smile, genuinely impressed. They'd triumphed when he assumed they had no idea what they were doing. Despite this being their first fight, they'd performed quite well. Of course, they had made countless mistakes, but those could be mended with time and experience. In particular, Izuku had impressed him. Acting with both logic and instinct, he'd formulated a reasonable plan in a relatively short amount of time. As they flew back to shore, Alucard glanced down at him, still clenching his injured wrist.
If this kid showed off like this more often, he might just live long enough to succeed All Might.

Author's Notes: In response to StanKK22, I wouldn't call him a femboy. He can take on any form he likes and act however he pleases, so in this case he's simply adopted a person of a graceful and elegant European noble. Now that is subject to change depending on his mood, but for the most part that's what he will be. His physical appearance is probably appealing to both males and females, but his personality isn't of the conventional femboy's. I hope that's a satisfying answer. On another note, in the past, I've seen some authors link specific soundtracks in their works. I'm curious to hear your opinion regarding that. To some, clicking a link might be too much of a hassle. To others, playing a complementary soundtrack in the background can enhance the atmosphere of a story. Please provide me with your opinions in the reviews. Of course, if you have questions then please feel free to ask. I might have the story mapped out, but that doesn't mean I have the skill to reveal it to you in a well-written way. So lay the constructive criticism on me. Thank you for reading, and I'll see you next time.
