Author's Note: The whole point of this series was Anne, Sasha, and Marcy being Guardians together, but now I realize I don't really know how to write them doing Guardian things. Anyway, here's my attempt at a fight scene. Enjoy.

Moons of Zzyzx

Battles between gods have long been the stuff of myths and legends. These divine conflicts are said to have shaped the multiverse— stars, worlds, perhaps even entire dimensions destroyed and born anew. And while these conflicts in reality may not have the literary flourish of Ragnarök or the Titanomachy, they are still magnificent sights to behold. The lives of us mere mortals are left at the whim of higher beings and all we can do is watch.

And that brings us to today. Who are the gods in this story?

On one side, there's Anne Boonchuy, Sasha Waybright, and Marcy Wu: the all-powerful Guardians of the Multiverse.

Normally, their role as Guardians prevents the trio from taking direct action in situations like this. They are supposed to sit back and silently observe and guide others toward their goal. The fate of entire worlds would be in the hands of magic wielding champions like they once were. Occasionally, however, a threat would arise that is so formidable, so great in power that the trio must take action. When the Calamity Trio ascended to become Guardians, they all agreed they wouldn't make the same mistake the last Guardian did: leaving defenseless worlds to fend for themselves.

So here they are now, in their 100-foot-tall winged battle forms, or "One-Winged Angel Mode", as Marcy has dubbed them. (It's a Final Fantasy reference!) The trio's battle forms are incomprehensibly more powerful than their old Calamity forms. Fittingly, the threat they were about to face is much more physically dangerous than the Core ever was.

Q̶̦͈͕͆̓̅̕X̷͍̅͘J̷͎̘͂̌̕Z̶̧̧͕̣̚V̴̯͍̺̈͑͘͝Q̷̗̈́̓̎̅J̵̘̘͈̓̆̀X̶̘̖̞̠͊͐̇̉Z̷͎̹̰͐̚͝Q̷͔͚̿̓ the Devourer, or "Q" for short, was born out of a spontaneous reaction in a lab on Kleptifor 9. The second it gained sentience, Q began consuming everything and everyone around it as a way of soothing its constant pain. It is able to sense and amplify its victims' fear. They became so paralyzed with terror that they couldn't fight back when they were devoured. The eldritch horror began with consuming the scientists who had unintentionally created it, then rapidly spread, growing in size and power with each person it consumed until the entire planet's population was gone. And then it left just as quickly as it came, ready to do the same to another world.

The destruction of Kleptifor 9 happened too quickly for the Calamity Trio to stop, but they won't let Q get a second chance. Marcy was able to quickly calculate Q's trajectory, the oft-ravaged world of Zzyzx. The fact that it's always placed at the bottom of lists is just the least of the world's bad luck. Corrupt leaders, poor infrastructure, and frequent natural disasters were among the numerous issues Zzyzx faced.

Luckily, Anne, Sasha, and Marcy managed to arrive first. They headed toward Zzyzx's third moon, where they would confront Q before it got the chance to reach the planet. As they got close to Q, the Guardians took in the appearance of their foe. Q was a dark purple amorphous shape with some limb-like tendrils sticking out. If it wasn't for those tendrils, people probably wouldn't even realize Q was alive. It might have started as a small speck, but now it was a thousand feet tall and several thousand feet across.

And although Q undoubtedly needed to be stopped, the Guardians couldn't help but feel a little sorry for it. "Consume", "terrorize", and "destroy" were the only things it knew how to do. They wouldn't just stop a powerful threat, they would ease a troubled soul.

"So Marcy," asked Anne. "Which fictional characters would you say this creature is most like?"

"Well," replied Marcy, "I'd say it's like a combination of Parallax from DC Comics and The DArkn∊∬ from Pibby."

"Well whatever it is, we're gonna stop it together," said Sasha.

"Together." agreed Anne.

The trio linked hands as they finally closed the distance between themselves and Q. The unearthly creature reached out toward them, sensing a fulfilling meal, but the trio easily repelled the attack. Admittedly, the Guardians were ever so slightly afraid, but their minuscule amount of fear was easily eclipsed by their vast powers.

Anne conjured her trusted magical tennis racket and sent a volley of giant tennis balls at Q, and Marcy followed with a barrage of lasers from her fingertips. Sasha didn't use a weapon right away, and instead shot herself right through the beast a few times

"Is that all you've got, Sash?" asked Anne in between tennis shots. Mid-battle taunting had become pretty common for the Guardians.

"I'm just getting started, Boonchuy!" replied Sasha. She summoned her glowing celestial sword and repeatedly slashed at Q's body. "And what about you, Mars? Where's your 20-sided die?"

Marcy chuckled. "Oh, I'm not using that anymore. I upgraded!" She conjured a hundred-sided die and tossed it. It "landed" on a 91, which created 91 little (aka regular-sized) Marcys which shot lasers at Q just like the original.

"Not bad, Mar-Mar," said Anne, summoning a second tennis racket to compensate for Q's attacks becoming increasingly hostile as it became smaller.

Anne and Sasha also created smaller versions of themselves which made the battle even easier. Sasha slashed through space, each slash creating a projectile that flew at Q. Anne shot out more and more concussive blasts and Marcy kept rolling her die, each number causing a different type of attack. After several minutes of this, they managed to reduce Q to size small enough that it could be finished off in one final combined offensive.

"You ready, girls?" asked Marcy as she and her wives lined up next to each other.

"I'm always ready to girlboss when the situation calls for it," said Sasha.

The three Guardians closed their eyes and reached deep inside themselves to call on their strongest power. They stuck their hands out and unleashed three white-hot blasts. Q howled in pain from the bursts of light, but at the same time it was almost soothing. It had never known anything other than pain, so experiencing a divine light was a pleasant surprise. In its last seconds of life, Q̶̦͈͕͆̓̅̕X̷͍̅͘J̷͎̘͂̌̕Z̶̧̧͕̣̚V̴̯͍̺̈͑͘͝Q̷̗̈́̓̎̅J̵̘̘͈̓̆̀X̶̘̖̞̠͊͐̇̉Z̷͎̹̰͐̚͝Q̷͔͚̿̓ the Devouerer finally felt peace…

The Calamity Trio opened their eyes and saw that there was virtually no collateral damage to the nearby moon. It was almost as if the battle never occurred.

"We did it!" cheered Anne. "And we didn't have to destroy a moon this time!"

"I never had any doubts that we'd succeed," said Sasha.

"I did!" said Marcy.

Anne and Sasha looked at Marcy in shock but soon noticed a mischievous glint in her eyes.

"I got you!" Marcy giggled a little. "But seriously, we did a good job. Should we have the usual celebration?"

"Oh absolutely," said Sasha.

And so the Guardians left to assure the citizens of Zzyzx that the danger was over, while simultaneously heading out to their base in the Multiversal Rift so they could watch War of the Warlocks. Ever since Anne and Sasha properly watched it following their return from Amphibia, it had become their favorite movie as well as Marcy's. It's definitely a worthy movie to celebrate a job well done.

Yes, 100-sided dice do exist and they're horrifying monstrosities of nature.
