The day had started out fine enough. She had been updated on the security list since Hojo and his other goons were escorted out. One had tried to attack a half demon entering the office. Which cause a brawl in front of the office building. The tabloids had an absolute field day. But just after lunch Miroku had given her a problem to solve.
It wasn't everyday she was faced with a problem she actually felt scared to deal with. Nevertheless, here she was staring at the box Miroku had left for her. He had already explained the general idea of his little side project. Glasses to help her see. As he explained, she had just sat there with a bored look on her face. How many times were they going to attempt these experiments? The first one was nanobots, he had proposed the idea of injecting her with tiny robots. She had flat refused, told him to go to hell after he had finished explaining.
The idea of little bots crawling in her blood stream to her brain creeped her out. What was worse is he had said he could program them to download what she saw. The amount of embarrassment she could imagine was horrifying.
Shaking one foot, her anxiety level rose steadily. Huffing in annoyance, her hands reached out on the smooth desk, fumbling for the glasses he had created. Opening the case, she felt around the frames, trying to figure out how to open them.
She carefully pulled the arms of the glasses apart until they would not open any farther. Taking a deep breath, she attempted to place them on her face. With her eyes closed in frustration, she struggled hooking the arms on her ears. How did people wear these? She wondered, before finally opening her eyes.
A burst of light caused her to panic, cover the glasses and her eyes she let out a sharp hiss of pain.
Her heartbeat pounded in her ears, she could see the dark pink hue of her skin. Light seeped through the the cracks of her hands. Her chest rose and fell rapidly. Bitting her lip, Kagome moved away from her desk and positioned her head down away from the light. Opening her hands slowly she looked at her feet.
She wanted to laugh out right.
There enclosed in one brown shoe and one black shoe were her feet. Miroku had let her walk out of the house with two different colored shoes on. Lifting one foot, she slipped the pump off her foot. Five pinkish toes wiggled causing her to giggle.
The giggle rose and bloomed into a full hysterical laugh. Her hands falling to her stomach, the muscles straining against her body's reaction. And just like the giggle rose so to did the sobs. Tears stung at her eyes and she pulled another foot out of her other shoe.
"Kagome?" Sesshomaru's voice called to her. He had been in the middle of a meeting when he had heard the giggling. He had tried to ignore it, but when the sobs started he cut the call.
She snapped her head up. Eyes wide like a deer in headlights. Her mouth fell open slightly. His face. Breath caught in her chest as she traced his features. His amber eyes narrowed looking at her. The markings on his face... she had not been able to feel them on his skin.
"What happened?" He asked moving towards her. She was acting weird and she had glasses on. Why would she need glasses? He asked himself before she stood up.
"I can see you" she breathed out, her voice barely above a whisper. He cocked his head just slightly, puzzled.
"What-" she cut him off.
"Rokus glasses. They work!" She exclaimed almost hysterically. Her hands extended out, her eyes inspecting them. Strange appendages and yet she knew them. She knew by the feel they were hers, it was just... it had been a long time since she had seen them.
He was silent. More like he was at a loss for words. He watched as she looked at the parts of her she could see. The elevator down the lobby sounded, Miroku stepping out hastily. Sucking in air he raced over to the pair. She looked up from her dress to look at him.
"Miroku?" She asked, a tremble in her voice. She could feel him, normal just like every other day. But now, she saw the face that spoke to her. The one who had cared for her like his sister. The one who was always there no matter what.
He nodded, his mouth slack with amazement. They worked! She took a step towards him, her arms stretched out. The two embraced hard, as if holding on for dear life. Sesshomaru heard her sob out a watery laugh.
"They work" she whispered, tears running down her face.
"They do" Miroku choked out. Smiling to himself Sesshomaru retreated to his office. While he wanted to question her on how she felt or what she saw, he understood the need for their time.
Sesshomaru had closed the door on the two humans and settled at his desk again. Inuyasha has been the one to break the news of Rins passing to him. Grief had consumed him. Rin's husband had all but demand that Sesshomaru have the last goodbye before the funeral.
In the quiet of the spring morning, he had looked at his daughter. His heart shattered. He had cried for the first time since his father had passed. Alone in that moment he told her what he had felt. The guilt he held onto because he was not there.
He mused about the strangeness of how a person in your life not related by blood can change it for better or worse. His love for Rin continued centuries after her passing. Not belittled or slighted over time. So in a sense he had understood the need to be alone with that person. The one who changes your life.
A soft knock came on the door, rising him out of his pondering. She had opened the door, her face flushed from crying. Her nose bright red and blotchy.
"I'm sorry" she had sat before sitting in the chair opposite from him.
"It is understandable" he said, watching her fingers nervously twist.
"You're more handsome then the last time I saw you" she said, her eyes looking at his desk. A blush had crept up on her cheeks, much like it had when he had kissed her.
"Oh?" He enquired, his ears picking up Miroku talking on the phone and heading to the elevator.
"Uh-yes" she said nervously. He stood and was in front of her in a flash. Sitting back in surprise she looked up at him with wide eyes. He leaned in down near her face. His voice low and throaty.
"Do you like what you see?" He asked his breath ghosting over her nose. She flushed and bit her lip. Nodding her head, she swallowed thickly.
His lips were on hers, eye wide, she watched as his closed. He deepened the kiss, and she wanted to fight the urge to close her own eyes. Instinct took over and they closed. A few seconds passed and he pulled back for air. Her eyes were low as if heavy with lush. A smirk slid on to his face and he bent to kiss her cheek.
"I am honored you can see me" he said.
She said nothing as he kissed down her neck. Her head buzzing with blood rushing to her brain.
"Tomorrow we are going on a date" he said against her skin. She giggled as his nose hit a tender spot.
"We have to work" she said, her eyes straining to see him. She wanted to stare at him, imprint the image in her head.
"Im the boss I can break the rules" he said pulling away from her to see her face. He could see her eyes wandering over his face.
" It will take some time to get used to this" she said, earning a chuckle.
" Take all the time you need" he responded, earning a warm smile
