A/N: Chu~

She had entered the office like any other day, but his senses were heightened. A knot had formed in his stomach, he had really had not planned on having this conversation with her so early on. He wasn't always keep her in the dark, just how does one go about telling someone you had them watched by a security team?

She had sat at her desk and answered the ringing phone. Her voice sounded normal, but he could smell the anger from his office. Today was not going to be a good day. Rubbing his face in frustration, he sighed once again. How to fix this situation. He could fire Tatchi for opening his big mouth, tempting as it was Sesshomaru knew he and Shippo were good at what they do. The only other person he would trust his is younger brother. A knock at his door started him.

"Enter," he said, moving to look busy with work.

"Sir, the Prime Minister is on the line, there seems to be a huge security concern for the up coming elections," she stated, trying to force a normal voice.

"Ah," he said, his hand hovered over the phone.

"Kagome," he said, as she turned from the office to leave.

"…I would like to explain everything to you, possibly over lunch?" He questioned, his internal voice kicking him over the formal statement. Perfect.

"I am angry. You had me watched for what? Do you even have any idea of what I went through as a kid? Keade with cancer, being taken out of my home and from my family?!" She exclaimed, her anger raising in her voice. Tears stung at her eyes, her hands clenched into a fist.

He was silent for a moment, trying to word his next statement carefully. "I apologize, I realize how it must come off, but I would like to explain and answer any question you have. Or if you wish just to listen to you vent.

"Answer the line, we will discuss this later at lunch," she said, the phone behind her ringing again. He nodded and answered the line as he watched her leave.

Sitting back down at her desk, she sighed. Her nails tapped softly as she began to reply to emails for the day. She could hear him speaking, his voice calming her nerves. She did not like that. She had the right to be furious. He had her watched… for years!

Clicking her tongue, her opened Google and typed his name in. After pressing enter, she searched through some articles and historical accounts of the man behind her. She skimmed over the known facts before searching about his personal life.

She came across a historical page, documenting his family. She skimmed over the parts of his mother and his step mother. She had known about those details, but as she read farther down there was a small footnote at the bottom.

Cited source: A letter addressed to Lord of the West Sesshomaru Tashio from Rin ( last name unknown) accounting the daily life of her family and asking her "father" to visit. When trying to confirm an offspring, a source close to Lord Tashio had said Rin was a human child that he had saved for wolves.

"An hair of someone he loved"

The words echoed in her ears. Knitting her brows she went back to a new search and typed in the website of the Holy Community. After logging in, she went down to the geology section and found her family's name. The blurb about the Shikon No Tama was at the top, it reaccouted the story of Kikyo, the priestess who died in the fight against the evil hanyou Naraku. The name Inuyasha jumped out at her from the screen.

"Priestess Kikyo was told to have fallen in love with another Hanyou Inuyasha, a dog Yōkai from the western lands. There are no cited sources that can be found of this stories, however elders had passed the story down and a few Yōkai have been said to corroborate the story."

"Holy fuck" she breathed out.

Moving farther down the screen she clicked through her family history, the wreck her grandparents marrying, the story of her great great grandfather as surviving WWII. She was able to click through a few other holy families she was related through, but nothing else relating to her boss.

"The Higurashi Shrine, roughly dating back to 1598, has withstand the firing bombings. The Shrine has been mentioned through out Japanese history in letters between humans and Yōkai alike. For example a Feudal Lord, by the name of Kisgho had written to the Western Lord and Southern Lord, requesting money to be sent to fix the shrine. Bandits had burned down part of it before the people of Edo could respond. A letter sent from both Lords had expressed regret over the problem and issued soldiers and funds to rebuild. A diary from a court official from the North mocked the "great tamed" Dog General of the West to care so much fo the Edo village. The court official recounted a rumor that the Western Lord had been seen going to the village and meeting with a human woman and her child."

"A human woman and her child," she muttered to herself. Copying part of the paragraph, she googled the rumor about Sesshomaru, more then 500 years prior to her birth.

Combing through pages, she made sure to check to make sure her boss was still on the phone. The small orange light this one, signaling the line was busy. After going through several dozen pages of the internet, she came across a small fangirl blog about her boss. Clicking on the link, a pink and purple blog page appeared.

The title read: Our sexy Western Lord- Sesshomaru Tashio in love with a human?!

The author wrote: I read the other day that supposedly Sesshomaru Tashio was known to visit Edo, the name Tokyo had before Tokyo. He was apparently spotted visiting a human female and her human child. So we know it wasn't a love child, it was not a hanyou. But had he fallen in love with her? Was he taking care of another man's child. Ugh how cute would that be?! I spoke with a former maid in the Western Palace, she said it was likely to be a woman named Rin. The child that was rescued by wolves by none other, our dearest Lord. So if it was Rin and her child, to means she had the baby with a human male. Annnnnd that means Sesshomaru visited her after that fact, how cute is that? Ahhh could you see Sesshomaru being a great father, cause I can!

Kagome wondered about this fangirl's mental health briefly, the author said she was a 23 year old and a waitress. Scrolling through a few more posts, Kagome was put off on how much she swooned over Sesshomaru. Closing the window, she sighed.

Was she distantly related to this Rin woman? Ever more important, did he love her like a lover or a father figure? An email alert sounded, pulling her out of her musings. Shaking her head, Kagome got back to work.

Hours later, a security guard entered the lobby to her floor. Kagome looked up and cocked her head. He was carrying a few huge bags from a restaurant.

"Here you go Kagome-san," he said, trading off the bags to her.

"Um thanks, what is this?" She questioned looking at the receipt.

"The boss man called down, said you two were too busy to go out and get food. He ordered from Youki and a bunch of it" the male said with a chuckled before leaving.

"Uh Okay," Kagome said, picking up the bags and entered Sesshomaru's office.

"Your order is here," she said, placing the bags in his guest chairs.

"Our order, come," he said, picking up the bags. She followed him, a knot turning in her throat. How was she going to even brooch this subject? They entered a conference room, he had set the bags on the table and began setting out multiple take put boxes.

"You really did order a lot," she said, as she helped to set up chopsticks and other items.

"I was not sure what you would eat, but I am also very hungry," he said, pulling out a chair for her. She thanked him as he helped pushed in her seat. Sitting next to her, passed a water and a soft drink over to her.

"The can is so small," she mused, looking at it, interested in the color and size.

"It's how the brand makes more money. Less product in smaller cans," he explained, before passing a large box of sushi to her.

She took a few pieces and handed it back to him. They ate quietly for a few minutes, before he spoke again.

" As I said prior, I am sorry for "watching" you. But do you remember the little girl I told you about, the one who fished?"

"Rin, you took her in as your own," she said softly, her eyes trained on his face. He nodded before moving on.

"She was a very important person to me. Before my father died, I hated humans. His marriage to Inuyasha's mother infuriated me. I was still very young and from my view, she was to replace my mother. My father and I fought over her, it was the last time I saw him before his death," he explained.

"I'm sorry, that must have been hard," she said, before taking a bite of a dumpling.

"I was young and stupid. I regret not speaking to him prior to his death, I carried that guilt along time. So when Rin came into my life, I at first ignored her. But when the wolves killed her, I was able to bring her back from the other world. It was because my father had a sword that only could do that. It couldn't kill or anything. It was a joke for me to inherit that sword over his Fang. When the sword showed me its power, I was surprised. It was as if it was one last sign from my father." He continued as she listened.

"So you brought her back to life and took her in," Kagome said. He nodded in agreement, before she spoke again.

"Tatchi said that I am an heir to someone who loved. You think or know I am a decent of Rin, right?" She asked, putting down her chopsticks. Tatchi was absolutely getting fired, he thought before answering.

"Yes, she married and had a lot of children. I should have seen the comparison of her and the Shiloh No Tama Priestess Midoriko. I found out after her passing she was related to Midoriko. But prior to finding that out, I promised Rin I would watch over her family. She had been so open to my kind, except wolves. But she had taught her children love and compassion for others. So generations later, you were born." He said.

"Why did no one stop the accident," the words left her mouth before her brain could compute the sentence.

"I...I do not know. The individual who was supposed to be watching over your family went MIA. There was no trace of him after it, Tatchi and Shippo tried to track him down. But it was like he never existed. I will never forgive myself for that. You were right when you said that I did not know about your childhood. I only asked for progress reports, but I was not fully aware of the issues until Miroku came to work for me. I hired him knowing he was close to you, so it was another way I could keep you safe. When I heard him speak about you to another employee, I felt shame. I could not show favoritism and force any change to your life, it was a stupid mistake for not stepping in when Keade passed. I made sure you both were set for money by the donations to the Shrine, but I did not know about the child support system. And I know I can not begin to say how sorry I am."

"So you hired me to keep me safe?" She asked, digesting the new information.

"Yes and no. Yes in the selfish reason for keeping you safe. Like I promised Rin, but no because I did not pick your application. Kagura did, as far as I know she does not know about your relation to Rin. She gave me four applicants, two did not have the grades, one was you and the other was Kōga. I don't think there is any doubt you are more capable then the wolf." He explained, the raw honestly surprising even to himself. He could have lied, but he did not want to. He did not want upset her more then he already had.

"He smells anyway," she quipped, making him laugh. She grinned at the sound, she liked watching him laugh. His mask, slipping off his face.

"Do you have any other questions?" He asked, taking another piece of sushi.

"The other night..." her voice trailed off. She hated her mouth in that moment.

He placed his chop sticks down and sighed deeply. He looked at her, her anxiety plastered on her face. He watched her for a moment, her fingers picking at a nail. Smirking her leaned forward towards her, capturing her lips in a kiss. His lips pressed against her and her stomach jumped. He deepened the kiss, his hand coming up to her hair.

He pressed his forehead against her own and pulled from the kiss. "Does that answer that silly question?" He asked, earning a soft blush from her. She nodded and smiled shyly.

They returned to their lunch, Kagome asking more about Rin and the life she had. Sesshomaru answered the questions, enjoying the giggles her earns rom his stories. It had been a long time he spoke about some of them. Despite his heartache over her death, he enjoyed the trip down memory lane.

He asked her about her life, wanting to know about issues she had a school and at the home. He apologized again for not stepping in, but she waved it off. She had be great full for what she had and for some of the people she had met. He told her about the shop Shippo had set up, the times they talked about books or stories he told her.

The pair leveled the playing field between other, the air cleared finally. It was weird to Sesshomaru. He felt completely at ease with the woman in front of him. Even without the booze. She actually listened to the tales he had, her questions or quips showed she was enjoying listening. A lot of woman he found who wanted him did not do this. He was almost like a big game trophy, they fished for complements; almost trying to solidify his attraction to them. It always resulted in cutting contact off.
