2: An Unexpected Day

Ash all of a sudden woke up seeing little mouse feet dangling in his face. He had then realized they were Pikachu's feet. Before he had time to react, Pikachu began kicking Ash's cheeks. Ash then heard a loud squeak, "PIKA PIKA PI" which Ash assumed meant "Ash, wake up!". Ash wanted to sleep more, but he knew Pikachu wouldn't let up so he grabbed Pikachu's feet and pushed them away from his face. Pikachu did not like this and tried to put his feet back on Ash's face, which he saw coming and was immediately shoved away. Pikachu realized there was no other option and to give him what he was asking for. His cheeks began to spark electricity with Ash seeing his glowing cheeks and knew right away that he was in trouble.

"PIKA, CHUUUUUUUUU" screamed Pikachu, giving Ash a powerful blast of his Thunderbolt attack. Ash immediately sprang up out of his resting place, feeling the pain as his body violently twitched. When Pikachu stopped, Ash's skin was fried, looking like he had just come out of an oven. Ash looked over to Pikachu who was giving him a cute innocent smirk. "Now you're gonna get it!" Ash yelled and playfully jumped out of bed and chased Pikachu around the room.

Pikachu was running all around wherever he could find cover. Ash tried but couldn't keep up with Pikachu's lightning fast reflexes. Ash decided that he couldn't go on chasing Pikachu like this and sat down on his bed. Pikachu wasn't expecting Ash to give up like that. He wanted to see what his Pikapi was up to. He then got on fours and tiptoed under the bed to see if Ash was there. Ash, on the other hand, was well aware of where Pikachu was. Pikachu's feet pattered lightly as he got closer to the end of the bed. Ash put his arms out, waiting for Pikachu to poke his head out. When he did, Ash lunged out and grabbed Pikachu. He was surprised and let out a squeak. Ash then got gentle and cradled Pikachu, swaying him back and forth.

Pikachu was comforted by this and cooed saying his name. "Well I got you back didn't I!" Ash joked as he cradled his little mouse. Pikachu's ears drooped down when he heard this, feeling sorry for shocking him. "Pikkkka Piiii" Pikachu said quietly as an apology. Ash noticed Pikachu's sorrowed eyes and lifted him closer to his face. "Awwww, don't worry about it buddy, I'm fine" Ash spoke in tenderness to the upset Pikachu. "Besides, I did deserve that Thunderbolt and I had lots of fun chasing you and your quick feet". Pikachu giggled as Ash began to tickle his feet. Ash simply adored his laughs or more so as squeaks. It makes him feel like everything in the world is full of blissfulness and peace. Pikachu also felt this way when he was with Ash.

As Ash saw Pikachu's face going red, he decided to stop. He kissed his feet and then kissed his head. Pikachu cooed and snuggled up in Ash's arms. "Okay buddy, how bout we go and get some breakfast?" Ash asked his little Pokémon. "Pika pika" replied Pikachu in excitement, after that, they all needed fuel. Pikachu then jumped on Ash's shoulder and pointed his finger in the direction of the door. Ash knew that Pikachu was hungry and so was he.

Ash rushed downstairs nearly tripping over the steps. Delia heard the loud banging of his footsteps. "Honey, if you would only walk down here calmly, then the whole house won't shake!" Delia politely scolded his only son. "Sorry mom, I'm just very hungry and so is Pikachu" replied Ash. His attention then turned to what was on the kitchen table, two large plates of pancakes, one topped with syrup, and one topped with ketchup. "Well, I know which one is for me." Ash joked. Pikachu gazed at the sparkling red ketchup. He loved two things in the world, Ash, and ketchup.

The two sat down for a nice large breakfast. Both were eating like they have never eaten before. In about five minutes, the plates had nothing but little drops of syrup and ketchup. Delia could not believe her eyes at how fast they cleaned their plates. "Woah, and I thought Snorlax could put away a meal, I guess that's my Ash" joked Delia. Ash nor Pikachu gave any sign of embarrassment, they were proud that they were fast eaters. "So Ash, when are you going to leave for the Trainers Festival?" questioned Delia, ignoring her previous joke.

"I'll leave as soon as I get all of my six Pokémon ready to show off their moves" Ash answered. He then looked over to Pikachu. "And that includes you buddy, you ready to show off your moves?" Pikachu gave a shout of agreement which put a smile on Ash's face. "Awwww Pikachu is so adorable, yet very powerful and protective" Delia said complimenting Pikachu.

Pikachu licked around his mouth to clean off the ketchup that was still on him. "Wow buddy, you ate that so fast you could have exploded!" Ash commented to his best friend. Pikachu then laughed at the silly comment, but then suddenly felt pain in his stomach. This shocked him and had no idea why this was happening, so he whimpered in pain. Ash saw him with a weird face and his ears folded down. "Pikachu, are you okay?" Ash said in concern. No response.

Ash got up from his chair and slowly approached Pikachu. "Pikachu? What's wrong?" Delia added, also concerned. Pikachu then formed tears as the pain was getting worse and quietly cried to himself. Ash looked in horror as Pikachu's body began to shiver in pain. He carefully put Pikachu in his arms and looked at him. "Shhh, buddy, what's the matter? Do you feel okay?" whispered Ash. He noticed Pikachu had his paw on his stomach. "Aww, do you have a stomachache?" questioned Ash. Pikachu responded in a very weak "Pika Pika". Delia noticed his condition and also got worried. "Oh no, will he be okay?" Delia asked Ash. "He will be fine, I just know it" Ash said, slightly more confident.

He took Pikachu back up to his bedroom and sat on the edge of the bed. Ash cradled his Pikachu, making sure that every inch of his body is warm. Ash softly put his hand on Pikachu's aching stomach and lightly stroked it. "Does that feel good buddy? Ash said to Pikachu, making sure not to be too loud. Ash realized that Pikachu became extra sensitive to noise since his ears twitched in discomfort. "Pika piiiiii" he whispered.

Ash then laid Pikachu down on his bed and wrapped a soft wooly blanket around him. Although this made Pikachu feel warm and comfortable, the pain was still present in his stomach. Ash laid down with him, trying to make him as comfortable as possible. This made Ash remember the last time he had a stomach ache and what his mother did to him as he was doing to Pikachu. Ash then realized he had gotten the stomachache for the same reason he did. Ash then chuckled to himself at the strange coincidence.

Pikachu was beginning to feel sleepy from the warmness of the bed and Ash gently stroking his fur. He cooed to the soothing whispers Ash made. Before he knew it, Pikachu was sound asleep. Ash then kissed Pikachu on the forehead and whispered "Get well, buddy" and walked back downstairs.

Delia was still in the kitchen washing the dishes when she saw Ash come down. "How's Pikachu? I hope he doesn't have a virus or something." Delia said.

"Don't worry mom, he's fine" replied Ash. "I think he ate those pancakes a little too quickly, I don't blame him". Delia then gave a sigh, "Oh, that Pikachu of yours, he's a real cheekster" Delia judged. "He is asleep right now, I don't know how long it will be until he wakes up" added Ash. "Wait a minute, what about the Trainers Festival? You're supposed to leave in about half an hour!" Delia mentioned.

This makes Ash jump in his mind about the event he was going to attend, but then thought about Pikachu who was not going to feel up to it. "What are you going to do?" questioned Delia. "Well, I guess I can't go then" replied Ash, "If Pikachu can't go, then I can't go". Delia frowned upon hearing this. "Oh Ash, are you sure, you have been preparing for it for weeks" she mentioned. "There is no way I can go without Pikachu, he's my number one partner, and he would hate to miss out" explained Ash. Delia thought about this and remembers how Ash always takes care of Pikachu and loves him the most, almost like his own child. "If that's how you feel sweetie, then I guess we won't go" she concluded, "I'll go call Professor Oak and inform him we won't be attending".

"Thanks Mom!" Ash said and without another moment to waste, he ran back upstairs to check on the sleeping Pikachu.

8 Hours Later…

Pikachu heard the sounds of the calling Spearow flying above the house which made his eyes peek open. As his little eyes adjusted, he looked out the window at the overcasted sky and noticed that it had been a sunny blue sky before he slept. He then went over to the alarm clock to see what time it was. Ash had taught Pikachu how to read time by putting plastic shapes that represent the numbers on the clock. Pikachu had memorized these shapes and looked at them to figure out what time it was. Ash wanted Pikachu to know this so that he knew when to wake him up. He then gasped when he found out that he had been sleeping for nearly eight hours! He then looked around for any sign of Ash, but he wasn't there. Did Ash leave him behind to go to the Trainers Festival? Pikachu got worried and ran as fast as he could downstairs to look for Ash.

Ash was on the couch watching TV when he saw Pikachu run up to his lap. Ash saw his little Pokémon and lifted him up for a big hug. "Pikachu! You're all better!" yelled Ash louder than expected. As much as Pikachu was happy to see Ash, he still felt guilty for not letting Ash go to the Trainer Festival. He frowned when he saw that Ash was watching the event on TV. "Pika pi…" he told Ash who knew exactly how he felt. "Hey, don't worry about that buddy, I really didn't want to go without you" Ash said as he stroked Pikachu's ears, "Besides, I won't go anywhere if you can't come with me too, especially if you are not feeling well". Ash then put his hand on Pikachu's stomach and rubbed it gently, making Pikachu coo in delight. "How does that feel buddy, do you feel better?" asked Ash. Pikachu responded by wagging his tail. He then put his paw on Ash's hand and squeaked that translated to "I love you Ash". His paw made a tighter grip which made Ash give a great smile and put his head to Pikachu's and kissed him on the forehead. "I love you too, Pikachu." he whispered.

The two then continued to watch the live event, with Pikachu cradled in Ash arms. Pikachu realized that Ash would do anything for him, even turn down a fun festival that he had been waiting for months to attend. Even if Pikachu was not feeling well, Ash still bonded with him, always being there for him, just as Pikachu always loved him. Some may say that Pikachu and Ash are just another Pokémon and trainer who get along, but to Pikachu at least, he was with the best trainer in the universe. Pikachu was the luckiest Pokémon ever to be with a trainer with an unbreakable bond.
