Unknown pov:
"Ahh!" I scream as I dogged another boulder. One of the giants gets close enough to grab me, I notice and try to jump out the way but it grabs my leg. Now dangling upside down in the giant's grasp I'm helpless.
The day I ran away from the orphanage is when all this craziness started. I lived in that awful place ever since my mom abandoned me. At some point I'd had enough and decided to run away. I wanted to go somewhere near the ocean, I've always had a strong connection to water. My mother before she abandoned me used to tell me stories of how great of a fisher my father was. So I guess that's where I get my love for water from- an ear piercing roar brings me back to reality.
Soon after I start to hear a voice in my head. At first it was low and quiet but slowly got louder until I could make out what it was saying. "The water, look towards the water, it will guide you." said the now clear male voice in my head.
I'm a bit freaked out by this but nonetheless I do what the voice says. It's night time and I'm in a dimly lit park so it takes a bit before but eventually I do. The water so to speak is found in the form of a pond, instantly I thrust my hand forward and almost immediately the water reacts to me. It shoots out and impales the giant causing it to burst into dust.
I fall to the ground landing on my feet only to immediately have to dodge another boulder. The other giants must have caught up to me.
The biggest giant throws another large rock at me, this time I can't dodge and it lands directly on my leg. The pain was pulsating. I began to scream for help deep down knowing that no one would come.
I lay trapped under the huge piece of rock, tired, beaten and out of options. Just as I'm ready to give up, a large ball of fire lands in front of me blocking off my vision.
Once the flames die down and I can see again I get a look at the person who I assume shot the fire.
He's standing in front of me with his back turned, facing the giants. The boy is fairly tall. I'd say he's about 5'11 with Snow White hair and despite it being December and practically freezing he decided to take off his hoodie while yelling to someone behind us.
"Hey Igris, I think I'll take them out while you tend to the girls' injuries. Sound good?" He spoke in a nonchalant tone.
What the hell is going on! Who the hell is he and why does he make beating the monsters sound so easy!
"Yeah yeah that's fine just make it quick" came the reply of an older man.
The older man who I assume is Igris came into view. If the white haired boy was 5'11, then the other guy was easily 7ft. Once I could see his face I saw that he was very handsome, he had short onyx black hair, volcanic black eyes, and pale skin with a strong jawline.
He instantly starts to tend to my various wounds, big and small. I was too stunned to say anything. All I could do was watch as he bandaged the cuts and scrapes. Igris finished rather quickly, putting the small medical kit back into his bag. He extended his hand, I took it and he pulled me up.
"Your leg is broken and you have plenty of small cuts but other than that you'll be just fine." He tells me in a friendly tone.
A nod was all I gave as a response. At that he just laughs and hands me three golden cubes.
"Eat them, they'll help your wounds heal quicker". He said with a smile.
At this point I'm so weirded out I don't even question it and eat them all at once. Getting over my initial shock, I looked out towards the battle that has yet to start. It's a six on one battle, looking at the white haired boy, he looks extremely outmatched.
"H-hey don't you think you should help him" I asked a bit worried about the boy.
He looks over to me with genuine surprise and even a bit insulted. He replies to my question with a smile and a bit of cockyness laced in his tone. "Just watch, he'll be just fine."
Doing as Igris said I took a seat on the ground and waited for the fight to begin.
"Andy hurry up, we gotta get moving and set up camp." the man named Igris yells at the now identified Andy.
"Fine, fine don't get your armor in a twist." came the white haired boys snarky reply
In a burst of fire the boy lept at the closest giant and slashed at its chest, it made a shallow cut causing the creature to roar in anger. Not paying much attention to his surroundings, the white haired boy gets snached mid air by one of the other giants and immediately the giant eats him.
I gasp in shock.
"What the hell, how can you just shit here while your friend gets eaten alive!?" I scream to the smiling man standing next to me.
"What are you so worked up about? The kid's fine, just keep watching." he says grinning like mad.
Not even a second later I hear a voice come from inside the giant.
"DID YOU JUST EAT ME!?"
A few seconds later the giant is incinerated from the inside out, the boy appearing soon after with a look of irritation.
"Andy, stop playing around and finish the rest of them off in five minutes or less and if you don't you go without dinner!" the pale man standing next to me yelled to the boy.
"I was playing around before but now I'm gonna burn you all to a crisp." said the now angry boy.
He rushes at the mob of six, as he nears the mob the closest one throws a punch at him but he jumps one to the giant's arm and begins to run up it, dodging its attempts to stop him. Once the boy reached its head the daggers in his hands began to spark with flames and in two quick swings the giant burst into golden dust.
He landed right in the middle of the remaining five and began to fight them all at once.
The somewhat leisurely flow of the battle quickly became a raging typhoon of constant movement. With each clash the battle grew more intense and threw it all. The white haired boy seemed to be having the time of his life. A smile plastered on his face accompanied by a look of pure joy.
The look on his face threw me for a loop. How could someone—who in one wrong move could die—be having so much fun? If there was one thing I understood from today, this boy is insane.
The battle took a terrifying turn. I hadn't noticed but while I was lost in shock he had managed to kill three of the giants. Then the battle became a bit less intense. Is what I'd have liked to say but the intensity practically doubled.
The giants started to act…weird their eyes started to glow yellow, they tripled in size and a dust storm sprouted out of thin air. An ancient womanly voice filled the air with laughter.
"I told you young Andrew you will join me or die, I think now is a good time to make good on that promise!" Said the ancient voice, her words laced with amusement.
I looked around for the source of the voice but couldn't see anything through all the dust.
I reached out to where I thought Igris was hoping I could use his huge frame as an anchor against the strong winds, but he was gone. My eyes caught his movement as he was bolting toward Andy while drawing the massive sword on his back.
The winds and dust had settled and the ground had stopped rumbling. I wish that made things better but all that was replaced by this overwhelmingly suffocating pressure.
Andy's pov:
"Igris what's going on?" I asked trying to ignore my minor fatigue
This was supposed to be simple. We travel to the ancient lands and I learn fire bending, easy right? WRONG, I now have to deal with a crazy ancient primordial who wants me to join her!
"Andy…Andy" Igris called, snapping me back to my senses. "Don't give in to your fears, remember your training. Gaia is controlling and empowering these giants-"
Wait, these are giants? I thought the giants were supposed to be dead?
"Igris I thought the giants were defeated by the gods and weren't they supposed to be stronger than this?"
"The Giants you're referring to were defeated by the Gods and are currently rotting in Tartarus. These giants are laistrygonian giants, you'd know this if you actually studied like I told you to" He begrudgingly explained
Before I could retort his claim at me not studying the giants charged. In an instant Igris and I took off towards them and eventually colliding in a huge clash sending shockwaves throughout the chilly night. I was sent skidding across the park using my daggers to stop myself.
Not giving me time to recover the giant was already in arm's reach, without a second to spare I tried to dodge and I nearly did but he managed to hit my arm breaking it in the process.
"Andy!" Igris called out.
"I-l'm fine it just stings a bit" I say, lying through my teeth. If it wasn't for the adrenaline I'd be out cold.
"Are you sure?" He called while blocking a punch from the giant.
"Don't worry about me, I can handle this. You worry about your own fight" I say while grinning, it's a weird habit of mine but when I'm in a tough fight or just fighting in general I can't help but get excited.
I rose from my kneeling position putting one dagger in my mouth and the other gripped tightly in my good hand.
Knowing I have to get serious I don't bother wasting any more time and dash toward the giant. As I get close he tries to grab me, luckily I expected this and used my domain over fire to launch me in the air aiming for its outstretched arm—figuring I could get a little payback for what he did to me—and in a flurry of slashes I cut it to ribbons.
The now crippled giant roared in pain and anger and started to thrash around wildly desperately trying to kill me. Using this to my advantage fire starts to ingolf my feet I sore into the sky and deliver a flaming ax kick to its head effectively turning it to dust.
Now laying flat on my back letting the fatigue settle over me and allowing the adrenaline to leave me. I must have fallen asleep for a few minutes when I came to the girl we saved and Igris was kneeling over me and treating my arm.
"You're awake." The girl said though it sounded like a question. I nod my head confirming what she said. Now actually getting a good look at her I could see she was actually quite pretty. She had deep blue ocean-like eyes, brown skin that seemed to glow in the rising morning sun and her auburn hair swaying in the slight breeze.
Realizing I was staring I whispered a quick thank you and jumped to my feet, or rather I attempted to when she suddenly squeezed my arm.
"What the hell are you doing woman?" I screamed at the blue eyed teen.
"Sorry but you're hurt so you need to rest. By the way my name is Alea. Nice to meet you. It's Andy right?" She said with a smile on her face
Clutching my bandaged arm I start to send small pulses of fire through my arm. This wouldn't completely heal me but it'll certainly help with the pain and the process as a whole.
Seeing the fire dance along my arm seemed to startle her a bit. At first she seemed scared but I guess eventually her curiosity won and she attempted to touch the flame. Bad idea, she instantly recoiled in pain, sucking on her slightly burned finger.
"Hey, how exactly is it that you can wield fire? And how do monsters exist?" She asked while still nursing her finger.
"Have you really not figured it out? We're not normal people" I told her. I mean honestly, how can you watch a guy fight 6 giants—huge man eating beast—and still believe that you're normal?
"What do you mean not normal? If We're not normal then what are we?" She questioned further.
I inwardly sigh at her further questioning. I mean honestly I don't have time for this. We need to get going, saving her put us massively behind
"Look lady, I'd love to help you figure out which bastard Olympian you belong to but I don't have time to." I told her a bit harshly but I didn't care.
I could see by the disheartened look on her face that she wouldn't question me further or stop me from moving. So I stood from my seated position and started to walk over to lgris who I'm sure heard the conversation, he'd been gathering our things a bit to my left.
Before I could reach him the sound of a scream made me freeze in my tracks. Instantly I knew the scream was Alea's. I turned only to see her swept up in what looked like a sand storm.
