A/N:

This is it – the final chapter. This chapter takes place a couple of years after the previous one, it's basically an epilogue.

WARNING: I've just uploaded two chapters. Make sure you have read the previous one before reading this one.

Laughing, the two children ran through the grass and climbed over the remains of a tower they only knew from hearsay, overgrown with plants. The three-year-old human girl Mira and the four-year-old half-elf Mithos weren't just cousins, they were best friends.

Mira had inherited her father Lloyd's eyes, apart from that, she strongly took after her mother, Colette. Mithos was a mirror image of his father Aodhan, but he got his mother's eyes.

Their parents were sitting under a nearby tree, along with their aunt Elerína, their grandfather Kratos and their great-grandfather Larkin, watching them. Around them, the village was bustling with life. The village the Aurions had founded had grown quickly, and had become home to many elves, half-elves and humans. It was called Midgard and was considered a sacred place. It was an independent territory falling neither under the jurisdiction of Sylvarant nor Tethe'alla, instead, it was ruled by the seraphim living there.

Much had happened during the past couple of years. The Seven Seraphim had managed to talk the king of Tethe'alla into abolishing the caste system and slowly, the half-elves' situation was getting better.

Zelos had mostly dropped his silly act, and he took his new responsibilities seriously. He also tried to keep an eye on Tethe'alla's nobility, so they wouldn't treat half-elves badly. He and Seles got along very well, and Zelos had actually become rather protective of his younger sister.

Upon leaving Heimdall, Rína had renounced all claims to be the village elder and so, the oldest elf had taken over that position.

After the chief of Mizuho had finally awoken from his coma, he had appointed his granddaughter Sheena his successor, and she had officially become the leader of the ninja clan two years ago. She used her network of informants to help the seraphim – if Alice's spies hadn't reported in first, which happened once every blue moon.

Regal had spent a lot of money investing into projects in Sylvarant as well as the reconstruction of the cities Heimdall, Palmacosta and Ozette; Iselia and Luin also received funding. Inspired by that – or because they didn't want to be considered avaricious or fall too far behind the Lezareno company – some other nobles had started their own projects.

Presea's collaboration with the Lezareno Company turned out to be very fruitful. She also started working together with Altessa to create new products. They became quite famous for their collaboration.

Genis and Raine had spent most of their time travelling, trying to help half-elves to adjust to the new situation. However, they would often take a break from travelling to visit all of their friends, or their mother.

Reuniting the two worlds hadn't been a cure-all, though. Even though half-elven discrimination wasn't so bad any more, the technological gap between Sylvarant and Tethe'alla had created a new kind of discrimination. The seraphim tried to ease the tension by encouraging people from Sylvarant to study at the academies in Tethe'alla, while paying Tethe'allan scholars extra if they went to teach at the Palmacosta University. Also, Yuan's men were busy spreading technology throughout Sylvarant, and the seraphim and their friends were always quick to react and calm the situation in case some major problems arose.

Yuan's men also served as the seraphim's private army, they were foremost a peace-keeping organisation that accepted humans, elves and half-elves as members. Fortunately, they only had had to move out once before to prevent a tense situation from escalating. The seraphim had issued a couple of laws that were binding for both countries, such as a prohibition to discriminate against anyone for any reason – and Alice would severely punish any violators.

"It has been rather quiet lately", Lloyd observed. "Looks like everyone finally got used to the new situation."

"Yes", Alice agreed. "About time, too. Our children will grow up in a better world than we did – thank goodness. I always wanted to be able to give my children a better life than I had."

For the last six years, both Kratos and Alice had been free from depression. Just as Elerína had always guessed, Lloyd and Kratos had been the key to healing Alice's wounded soul. After all, the head of their family was a family person. And since Lloyd had become immortal as well, the twins would be together forever. In a new world.

A/N:

Congratulations! You just finished a 338 pages-long story. You may feel accomplished now.

Working on this story has been fun, and I am glad I went through all the trouble the editing process entailed. Caradilis and I finished our playthrough of ToS in early May 2021, and I gave her this story to read shortly thereafter. So, yeah, editing and publishing this took roughly 10 ½ months.

Mithos was a mirror image of his father Aodhan, but he got his mother's eyes. (lol, yer a wizard, Mithos)

And since Lloyd had become immortal as well, the twins would be together forever. In a new world. (awwwww)
