Chapter 30: Wind Down
"Are you okay, Saiyaguy?" Asuka asked and nudged Great Saiyaman.
Great Saiyaman groaned and said, "I'll be fine."
Asuka walked around the room and avoided the holes in the floor as he searched for the Eternal Pose. He rummaged through chests and drawers and found it beside the bed. He picked it up and grinned, "Got ya."
"Flying Nimbus!" Asuka shouted and walked over to Great Saiyaman. The nimbus flew in through the hole in the roof and Asuka placed Great Saiyaman on it. "Take him to the others." The nimbus carried Great Saiyaman away and Asuka jumped through one of the holes in the floor.
Asuka landed on the third floor and jumped down to the second floor where Teru stood with a grin on his face. Teru swallowed a handful of pills and Asuka felt something about him change. Teru sprang at Asuka and slammed a swift kick into his chest. Asuka was knocked against the wall and Teru barraged spring loaded punches into his chest. Asuka detached his arms and slammed swift punches into Teru's sides.
They exchanged heavy blows and Teru leapt back and turned his forelegs into springs, he bounced around the inside of the ruined mansion and slammed into Asuka and sent him crashing through the wall and out into the street.
Renji, Shuhei, Mugen, Bulma, Yasui, Zika and Hama stood outside the mansion with the nimbus carrying Great Saiyaman. Asuka came crashing through a wall and hit the ground outside. Teru jumped out of the hole in the mansion and landed in the street, he laughed and cracked his neck.
Asuka got to his feet and hurled a Chop-Chop Rocket that Teru dodged, he lunged at Asuka and slammed a spring loaded kick into Asuka's chest. Asuka yanked his arm back and struck Teru in the back. He yanked his arm back and exchanged swift blows with Teru.
"Shuhei, take these guys to that spot we stayed at last night." Mugen said as he watched Asuka and Teru battle.
"Make sure you both meet us there." Shuhei said and he led the others down the street and away from the mansion.
Asuka barraged heavy punches into Teru's chest and kicked him in the side. Teru slammed a spring loaded punch into Asuka's chin and kicked him down to the ground. Teru jumped up in the air and dropped down at Asuka with spring loaded kicks. Asuka rolled to the side and jumped up to his feet. He hurled a Chop-Chop Rocket that struck Teru in the side of the head.
Teru stumbled to the side and Asuka Shaved at him and yanked his arm back, he barraged furious punches into Teru's chest and stomach. Teru struck Asuka in the chin with an uppercut and kicked him in the chest. They exchanged blows and jumped quickly around the street.
Teru turned his forelegs into springs and bounced around buildings on the street, he greatly increased his speed as he bounced around and he slammed into Asuka with his full force! They tumbled down and skipped across the ground roughly and Asuka had the air knocked out of his lungs.
They both jumped up to their feet and Asuka blocked a kick from Teru and skipped back as he caught his breath. Teru grinned and sprang forward at Asuka and barraged spring loaded punches that Asuka smoothly evaded.
Asuka used Iron Body and slammed a series of punches into Teru's chest and struck him in the chin with a devastating uppercut. Teru stumbled back and Asuka struck him in the chest with a Chop-Chop Rocket and Teru hit the ground hard. Asuka yanked his arm back and stumbled around.
Mugen ran up and steadied Asuka and kept him on his feet. Teru writhed around on the ground and vomited blood. He looked up at Asuka and spat thick red blood at him.
"You shouldn't have eaten those pills." Asuka said simply and turned to walk away with Mugen, leaving the ruined mansion behind them.
The group of them sat in the top of the building overlooking the docks where the Whore sat and waited for them to return. Bulma patched up Great Saiyaman the best that she could and he sat against the wall and winced as he moved.
"We gotta get the hell outta this town." Yasui said and sighed.
"Are you gonna be okay if we skip town?" Asuka asked Great Saiyaman.
"With the mansion destroyed and the Shin Family beaten down, the marines will try and cover up their involvement with them. I won't let that happen" Great Saiyaman said and nodded.
"Then let's get out of here before the marines storm the docks." Asuka said and smiled.
"Thank you all." Great Saiyaman said and smiled, wiping a tear from his eye.
"Take care of yourself, Saiyaguy!"
"See you later."
"Bye."
The Misfits and Renji left the building and dashed across the docks and jumped onboard the Whore. They raised the anchor and unfurled the sails, they looked up and waved at Great Saiyaman as they sailed southeast away from Karakura Town.
Two days after the Shin family was defeated and their drug operation uncovered, Vice-Admiral Norrington and his men arrived at Karakura Town. Norrington and Lieutenant Commander Lisa made their way inside of the Navy base to meet with Captain Parrish.
"What happened here?" Norrington asked.
"Pirates came into town and beat up some gangsters." Parrish said simply.
Lisa placed the Misfits' bounty posters on Parrish's desk, "Were they here?"
Parrish nodded and said, "Yeah, that's them."
"And you let them escape?" Norrington asked angrily.
"I was tied up with other things." Parrish admitted.
"Do you know which way they went?" Norrington asked.
"Bartender in town said they mentioned Yorknew City."
"Wonderful." Lisa sighed.
"Just one more thing." Norrington said slowly, "A weirdo in a helmet gave me a ton of evidence that says you and the Shin Family were in cahoots."
"What?!" Parrish exclaimed, "Preposterous!"
"You're under arrest, former Captain Parrish." Lisa said and grinned.
Renji found himself having that dream again. He was eight years old and running through his village with his friends. He had grown up in Scarlet Village on a small island in the Grand Line. It was a day like any other when ten phantoms came to the village.
The ten phantoms were powerful pirates seeking the Kurta Clans sacred treasure, their Scarlet Eyes. When members of their clan died, their eyes would crystalize and turn scarlet. These eyes could be sold for a high price and the pirates had come to obtain the whole collection.
The phantoms fell onto the clan and ripped their eyes from their corpses. The Kurta Clan fought back but were ultimately massacred. Renji watched as his family was slaughtered and a tall man in a kimono wielding a sword came to his house. He cut down his parents and siblings and Renji grabbed a knife and stabbed the man in the leg. The phantom swordsman struck Renji down and stomped on him until he stopped moving.
Renji awoke hours later, two of his eyes cut out and his village still burning. He stumbled through the burning village while crying blood and screaming for someone to help him.
Renji sat up and shook his head. He got dressed and walked up onto the deck where the others stood. It had been a week since they left Karakura Town and Bulma had been using the Eternal Pose to guide the ship toward Yorknew City.
"How far is it to Yorknew?" Zika asked Renji as he arrived on the deck.
Renji shrugged and said, "I'm not sure. Maybe less than a week now."
"Great Saiyaman said that the Shin Family worked for a Warlord." Asuka said simply.
"What?!" Yasui exclaimed.
"For real?!" Shuhei exclaimed.
"Yeah." Asuka nodded and asked, "What's a Warlord?"
"A Warlord is a pirate that is backed by the World Government." Renji explained.
"Huh? How do you mean?" Mugen asked.
"To try and keep the balance of power in the world." Renji said, "There are seven powerful pirates that work for the World Government and help the Navy fight other pirates."
"So then, Madam Wakaba is a Warlord?" Bulma asked from the helm.
"Yeah. She operates the Yorknew Auction with immunity from the World Government." Renji said.
"So we just pissed off a Warlord?" Yasui asked.
"Maybe not." Shuhei said, "The newspaper that brought us our bounty posters said that Captain Parrish had been working with the Shin Family and they turned on each other."
"They didn't even mention us." Zika said and sighed loudly.
"Ooh, but the marines will take the fall for us!" Yasui excitedly said.
"What exactly are we going to Yorknew City for?" Zika asked.
"Renji just really needs to be there for the auction." Asuka explained.
"Yeah, about that." Mugen looked at Renji and said, "You never answer my question at Heaven's Arena."
"What, theft or revenge?" Renji asked and cocked his head to the side.
"Yeah."
"I'm hunting after a group of pirates." Renji said slowly.
"Oh? Are you a bounty hunter?" Asuka asked excitedly.
Renji shook his head and said, "No. Just seeking revenge."
"And you think these pirates will come to the Yorknew Auction?" Zika asked.
"They won't miss the chance to rob the auction this year." Renji explained.
"Rob the auction?" Yasui gaped.
"Who would be crazy enough to rob the Yorknew Auction?" Bulma asked.
"The Akatsuki." Shuhei and Renji said in unison.
"What?!" Yasui exclaimed.
"The who?" Asuka asked.
"The Akatsuki are a group of cutthroat bandits who rob and kill all across the Grand Line." Shuhei said.
"Ooh, Yorknew City is gonna be awesome!" Asuka called out and laughed.
"What?"
"We're gonna beat up the Akatsuki." Asuka said and grinned.
"Huh?!"
"Renji is gonna need help fighting them." Asuka said matter-of-factly.
"No. You don't need to help me. It'll be dangerous." Renji said and shook his head.
Asuka smiled.
Back in Karakura Town, Pilaf sat in a hotel room drinking grape juice. He had been sitting in the bar when the brats who stole his Dragon Balls arrived. He had kept himself hidden and watched them as they asked around about Yorknew City.
There was a slow and loud knock at the door and Pilaf ran to open it. A very tall man in a leather getup stared down at Pilaf, remaining silent.
"Oh, uh, here." Pilaf handed the tall man a stack of bounty posters and an envelope containing three-hundred-million Beli. "Those are the targets, they're headed to Yorknew City."
The tall man vanished suddenly and Pilaf shut his door slowly.
About twenty minutes later, another knock at the door rang out. Pilaf ran to the door and opened it, a broad shouldered bald man with golden teeth stared at him, "Yo."
"These are the targets and the payment. They'll be in Yorknew City." Pilaf handed the man bounty posters and an envelope full of money.
The man checked the money and walked away from the door with a skip in his step. Pilaf closed the door and waited.
Ten minutes later, another knock at the door rang out and Pilaf opened it slowly. A woman with a purple hood over her face stood on the other side of the door.
"Targets and payment." Pilaf handed her the bounty posters and money.
The woman counted the money and asked, "Where?"
"Yorknew City." Pilaf answered and grinned, trying to contain his excitement as the woman walked slowly away from him. Pilaf shut the door and laughed, those brats will finally pay for what they did to him on Ember Island!
