The Shinobi of the Hidden Vault 11

The trip back home was relatively short, especially since Naruto had easily teleported them back to the village within record time.
After submitting their return to the shinobi guarding at the gate and submitting their mission as a success, Kakashi dismissed group 7 to go about and enjoy their day as he had to fill in the paperwork and share some of the more intimate moments of their mission with the Hokage.
Now free to wander the village, the genin of team 7 were actually making their way back home to the vault.
"So Sakura, any reason you're following me and Sasuke back to the vault" asked Naruto, "Rude much" said Sakura sarcastically.
"Sorry, not trying to be rude here" said Naruto, "Well, I honestly got nothing better to do, I mean yeah I can go back home to my parents, but actually I wanted to talk to Dr. Lopez and hope they can give me some medical training and educate me about some chems. Especially the ones you 2 have been using" said Sakura bluntly.
"You're still hung up about the whole Psycho situation" asked Sasuke in an annoyed tone, "I'm also worried about Naruto here" said Sakura.
"But I didn't take any Psycho" said Naruto innocently, "I don't mean that, I mean you were given heavy repeated doses of Med-x, and I'm worried you could develop an addiction" said Sakura.
"Hey I ain't take anymore Med-x then I did when we faced off against Zabuza" said Naruto, "Then you both have nothing to hide when we all make sure to get checked for a physical, then we can share a nice meal from Mama Maria and do whatever it is you both want to do, ok" said Sakura.
"Fine, but this is going to cost you some major cute points you know" warned Sasuke, "I don't care, I care about you 2 being healthy and in good health" said Sakura as the trio approached the entrance of the vault to see an interesting sight.
It was 1st Gen Synths guarding the vault entrance which confused the trio as this was something that was completely new to them.
"Hey Naruto, what the heck are those standing at the vault entrance" asked Sakura, "I don't know, those are completely new to me as they are to you guys" said Naruto.
"What do you think, maybe they were set up by foreign ninja trying to invade us" asked Sakura, "No, those look slightly high tech enough not be made from any of the shinobi nations, at least from what I can tell from a distance" said Naruto.
"Let's just approach them with caution, if they're hostile I think we're more than ready to manage" said Sasuke as he began to switch the safety off his shotgun.
"Right, on my lead" said Naruto as he lead his friends to the vault as they cautiously approached the 1st Gen Synths.
"Halt, you're within proximity of a restricted area. Identify yourselves and state your reason for being here" said one of the Synths as it's voice was deep and robotic.
"My name is Nick De La Cruz, I live here, and these are my friends, just coming back from a mission" said Naruto, "A Nick De La Cruz is indeed a confirmed resident of the vault. Do you have proof" asked the Synth.
"Psst, Naruto, show take off your jacket and show him the number on the back of your vault suit" said Sakura as Naruto did as she suggested and showed the 2 Synths his proof of residency.
"The resident before us is indeed confirmed to be Nick De La Cruz as he carries both a Pip-Boy and vault suit on his person, and his request to allow his friends entrance into the vault has been granted" said the Synth as the group of walking toasters allowed them all to enter without any issue.
As they began to ascend into the lower level of the vault, Naruto and company were surprised to see that Vault Security and both 1st and 2nd Gen Synths were working side by side maintaining the entrance.
"Naruto, what the heck is going on here" asked Sakura, "I don't know, like seriously we've been gone for only a week, together remember" said Naruto as they walked past the security and the synths before they finally made it back home.
"Mom, I'm home" said Naruto as Maria was in the middle of cooking, "Nick, you're back along with your friends" said Maria as she turned off her stove and went to pepper her son with kisses.
"Mom stop, you're embarrassing me" said Naruto with a blush as Sakura giggled and Sasuke gave him the most smug smirk he could pull that day.
"Perfect, you're just in time, so much is going on, but I can tell you once your brothers return. Oh my that's right, your brother Emil and Chris have returned to us" said Maria.
"Wait, Emil and Chris, they're here" asked Naruto as he had so many questions to ask, but they were put to a halt when they heard the door to their vault home open behind them.
"Hey mom, who's the brat" asked Chris, "Chris this is actually our brother Nick, the one I was telling you guys about" said Gil as he went forward to introduce their newest brother to their older brothers.
"You never told us you guys adopted a Chinese kid" said Chris, "Actually Naruto is a Japanese name, so it's given that our little brother here is of Japanese descent at the very least" said Emil.
"Oh, so we don't have to worry about him being a Commie Spy then" said Chris as Emil nodded in affirmation.
"Sorry for judging you so quickly back there kid. I'm Chris and this is Emil" said Chris as he walked up towards Naruto.
"Uh hi, my name is Nick, and these are my friends Samuel and Sally, they're part of my team when I'm out on missions" said Naruto as his friends greeted his brothers in their own special way.
"Well now that we're all here together, why don't you all get to know each other, dinner should be ready in about an hour" said Maria, "Sounds muy bueno mama, I actually got to get Nick's friends here better equipped if they want to get in and out of the vault freely" said Emil as Maria waved them off.
"Say Chris, Emil, can I ask how you guys got here and what's with all those weird looking robots wondering the vault" asked Naruto.
"Very perceptive of you Nick, me and Chris here had actually been staying with a shady group that called themselves the institute for a few years before we came here" said Emil.
"The Institute" asked Sakura, "A group of smart guys and egg heads, living underneath the CIT for the last few centuries like how many vault dwellers lived their lives, though for being a group of nerds they were pretty stupid as they were ruthless" said Chris as this left the group confused.
"You're glossing over a lot of details Chris. To give a much more detailed recap, the Institute were indeed a group of some of the most brilliant minds living within the Commonwealth Wasteland, all of whom were descendants of the brightest minds of the Commonwealth Institute Tech, one of the greatest Universities within America before the bombs fell, and was my 3rd choice if I didn't get accepted into Stanford, and then Harvard" explained Emil.
"Anyways, initially they were very hospitable to us, providing us shelter and helping them in their experiments in creating the perfect Synthetic Human being, if not in some other field of science, unless you were Chris here who was sent on the field to deal with any to all crisis that was an issue to the Institute" said Emil.
"Then what went wrong" asked Sakura, "Well the thing is that they thought they could experiment on us in other projects, at least to those whom they proved to be less intelligent and posed a none hostile threat, while those who were proven to be quite a serious threat to go on suicide missions" said Emil as he pointed towards Chris on the last part.
"Yeah, but I'm to good to be put down, and Emil here was too smart to figure out their plans and intention, so we helped this group calling themselves a Minute Men to execute the perfect attack in shutting those bastards down for good, and after nuking them to Kingdom Come" said Chris.
"Right, after that we gathered whatever little technology and used the notes I had been collecting months in advance to figure out a way to send us and the remaining survivors back home along with some Institute and Commonwealth goodies along the way" said Emil.
"I can see that, though I gotta ask aren't you worried about these Synth's might turn and revolt against you guys for betraying the institute" asked Sasuke.
"Not to worry, the 1st and 2nd Gen Synths are more akin to that of a protectron and Mr. Handy units, granted they're not so easy to hack like those machines, but lucky for me I was able to secure access to the their prime directive and they now only serve to protect the vault, while many of the Gen 3 Synths were either those who defected from the Institute long before or were desperate and felt lost after the fall of the Institute" said Emil.
"What do the Gen 3 Synth's look like" asked Naruto as he began to turn his head in order to spot one.
"They literally look like us, in fact the process how they're made is definitely a sight to behold like it came out of one of those old sci-fi holo films, in fact- Hey A3-ZA3 get over here for a second" shouted Chris as the 3rd Gen Synth approach the group.
"Yes sir, what can I do for you" asked the Synth, "Please introduce yourself as to who you are what you are" said Chris as he gestured towards Naruto and company.
"Greetings young vault dwellers, I am a 3rd Generation Synth and this units designated number is A3-ZA3, all though I am planning to change it to a rather more friendly, more human name soon" said A3-ZA3.
"So wait if you're a Synth, does that mean you got awesome robotic features like say a buzzsaw attachment or can you shoot lasers from your eyes" asked Naruto excitingly as he still holds out for the day they can have a Mr. Handy Unit.
"I unfortunately do not carry such functions, granted my brothers of previous units don't posses such traits either, but what I do grant is the uncanny ability to blend in like every other human being, and posses the many traits a human needs in order to function in blend in, including breathing, bleeding, healing so forth" said A3-ZA3.
"Oh that's all" asked Naruto as he was deflated to hear how rather anticlimactic Synths really are.
"Don't be rude Naruto, even you have to admit, for a machine to posses such human qualities is truly a scientific marvel that most people wouldn't have imagined, let alone know how to create" said Sakura.
"You're indeed correct Sally, unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your point of view, we actually both lack the plans and the equipment for us to continue to manufacture anymore synths, that is Gen 3 Synths, but hey, we still have the proper tool and means to continue to make Gen 1 and in time we hope to make Gen 2 along the way" said Emil.
"Ok, but why" asked Sasuke, "Well to be blunt having a large army of Synths at the ready to protect and defend ourselves is never a bad thing to have, I mean who'd honestly shed a tear for the death of a 1st or 2nd Gen Synth" said Chris.
"I mean I feel a little bad, but yeah, no they're pretty much akin to a protectron at least to an early model of the Mr. Handy Units" said A3-ZA3.
"All right guys, let's quit the nerd talk for a minute, why don't you guys tell these kids some of your more crazy adventures around the Commonwealth" said Gil.
"Agreed, I think you kids are going to love this story about the time how I dragged Emil here on trip to Far Harbor because we had a league of rogue synths hiding out there…" trailed off Chris as he and Emil would share stories about their time in not only the Commonwealth, but also their lives in America too throughout the whole evening.
Next Day
Being given the day off to either train or hang out, Naruto instead chose to step out the vault and explore Konoha a little more with Sasuke and Sakura serving as his guide and company.
"So what do you guys want to do today" asked Naruto, "I mean we could play catch while Sakura gets some training with that BB Gun we gave her" said Sasuke.
"Sigh, look I appreciate the gift and all, but honestly I don't ever see myself using either a gun or energy weapons anytime soon" said Sakura.
"Hey, learning from experience, if Sasuke didn't learn how to use a BB gun first, he probably wouldn't know what to do and step up to use the shotgun I gave him" said Naruto.
"He also wouldn't have to use Psycho if you hadn't gotten your ass kicked" said Sakura, "Which Dr. Lopez has confirmed I don't have an addiction towards, nor does Naruto with his Med-x addiction you worrywart" said Sasuke.
"So it's going back to what Sasuke suggested, it's agreed that me and Sasuke will play catch and Sakura you get to get some target practice" said Naruto.
"Fine, fine, not gonna argue with you 2, but can we at least grab some lunch along the way" said Sakura, "I can eat" said Sasuke, "You know, funny how you guys should mention food, because guess what I got with me" said Naruto as he revealed to them a bottle of Nuka-Cola Quantum.
"Ooh, what's that you got there" asked Sakura, "A bottle of Nuka-Cola Quantum, Emil gave it to me for us to try it out together" said Naruto.
"Nuka-Cola Quantum? What was this drink made inside a nuclear power plant" asked Sakura jokingly, "Maybe, but from what Emil told me, this was sold exclusively mainly in large within the Commonwealth area, and a few shipments within the DC region according towards a shipment report manifesto Emil accidently discovered" said Naruto.
"Hm, well nothing goes good with Nuka-Cola then Karage if you were to ask me" said Sasuke, "Deep fried desire huh, say no more and sign me up" Naruto as the trio walked their way towards a karage stand that was towards the edge of town.
As they continued to get some street food, the group of genin ran into a familiar group and the only other graduates of their year.
"Sasuke, it's so good to see you again" cooed Ino as she ran up to wrap her arms around the brooding teen, "Dear god, someone help me, please" jeered Sasuke as Sakura decided to let Ino glomped him after dealing with his reckless and just overall attitude.
"Shikamaru, Choji, good to see you guys again" greeted Naruto, "Good to see you too man, hey you wouldn't happen to have any spare Nuka-Cola to share now do you" asked Choji eagerly.
"For you buddy, of course" said Naruto as he went and pulled out a spare bottle of classic Nuka-Cola.
"Yes, you're the best" said Choji as he wasted no time in popping the cap and chugging down the bottle.
"Glad to see some things haven't change, so how've you guys been, especially when you're grouped with this troublesome blonde here" said Shikamaru, "Funny I was gonna ask you the same thing" asked Naruto as he pointed his thumb towards Ino.
"Can't complain honestly, granted her prissy and prude behavior can be a pain" said Shikamaru, "Hey, don't think I don't know you're talking about me here" said Ino as she released her hold on Sasuke.
"Bite me" said Shikamaru dismissively, "Heh, well hey it was good catching up with you guys, but we got some deep fried desire to eat, and some balls to catch, at least me and Sasuke here" said Naruto.
"Why Naruto, I had no idea you swung that way" Shikamaru said jokingly, "Well I do, but no, me and Sasuke are friends here" said Naruto as he surprised the trio.
"Well color me impress, and good for you dude" said Shikamaru, "Wait, Naruto you're gay" asked Ino with a hint of worriment since she knew only one person who was going to be devastated once word reaches her.
"Bi actually" corrected Naruto, "Well whatever doesn't change the fact that you're still you" said Choji happily.
"That's right. Anyways see you guys later on, maybe we can all play baseball together someday" said Naruto, "Soccer is a better sport you know" said Shikamaru.
"Objection" stated Sasuke as he and Naruto actually came to like baseball, in fact the fact they not only had more vault dwellers, but also the 3rd Gen synths to help fill in the roll for an equal number of players to actually play America's greatest past time at long last.
"Oh god, you had to get these 2 started" said Sakura as she pinched the bridge of her nose, "I'll do you a solid this time. Come on boys were late for training" yelled Ino as both girls managed to get their boys in check before they had to deal with them arguing about sports.
"Well, I felt challenged to actually start a baseball team and show these guys how fun it is" said Naruto, "Agreed" said Sasuke, "Have either one of you guys actually played baseball before" asked Sakura.
"Not with a full team against a full team before, but between us and our brothers, most definitely" said Sasuke, "You know the more I think about it, the more I really want us to play a game of baseball before we do any out of village missions" said Naruto.
"Ok, guys we're getting ahead of ourselves, I mean what are the rules of baseball anyways if we want to play against a full team" asked Sakura.
"So here are the abridged rules of baseball, each team must have a minimum of 9 players on each team to play, the playing field is on a 4 diamond mound, where you got 4 players on each base, another 4 on the outfield, and the pitcher in the center, standing on the pitchers mound. From there players from the other team go up to bat one at a time as they attempt to knock the ball as far as they can or out the park, where the goal is to run around all 4 bases to make a homerun, which is how we keep track of scores, the team with the most points at the end of the last inning wins the game" explained Naruto as Sakura was left standing there speechless.
"I know right, pretty amazing game" said Naruto, "No I'm just shocked to hear you explain something so complex with enough details without being under the affect of that Night Person perk of yours" commented Sakura.
"Hey now, I'm pretty smart, I mean yeah I'm slightly above average, but give me some credit now" said Naruto, "To be fair, if you had put that intelligence to good use, you probably wouldn't have failed your graduation 3 times" said Sasuke.
"Fuck you" said Naruto as Sakura and Sasuke laughed at his expense, "Well it seems no matter what I say, I guess we're going to have ourselves a baseball game, one way or another" said Sakura.
"That's right and I can see it now, the genin who graduated from our class against our older siblings and the synths" said Naruto.
"For the record I'm an only child" corrected Sakura, "Still I can see this to be a fun experience, us and a team of fresh all star athletes, against people who'd be willing to go easy and teach us all how to have a fun time playing baseball" said Sasuke.
"Yeah I can see it now, we'll have a diamond field, some stadium seats for everyone in the vault to see, maybe we'll even have some hotdogs, funnel cakes, and Nuka-Cola being handed out to the crowd, maybe even a victory barbeque after the game" said Naruto.
"This is starting to sound overly ambitious, but knowing that you can build a whole bridge in a week, I can see this being done in an afternoon" said Sakura.
"Maybe the construction, but there's definitely some planning you kids need to do beforehand" said Itachi as he appeared behind the trio.
"Itachi, you're back" said Sasuke as he went to greet his brother, "I am, and for good reasons and then some" said Itachi.
"What do you mean by that" asked Naruto, "I'll leave that to your sensei to explain to you guys when the time comes, for now how about we all go out and grab a bite to eat and talk more about your kids' plan to start this baseball game" said Itachi.
"Funny enough, we were heading out to get some lunch. By the way Itachi more of my brothers have returned to us" said Naruto, "Really now" said Itachi.
"Yeah, and the best part is that we're still planning to not only get my remaining brothers, but everyone else's families in the vault" explained Naruto as Itachi would listen to him, but truth is he already knew something was a miss the moment he was called to return from his mission post haste.
With a little reconnaissance, Itachi had spotted some synths guarding the vault entrance, and once he's done listening everything Naruto had to share with him, it pretty much painted a picture as to what the hubbub was about.
Granted this wasn't necessarily a good thing entirely as there was the possibility that the vault dwellers may decide they're tired of living underground and could simply gather as many people as they possibly could and easily invade Konoha without a moment's hesitation.
Still it was too soon to decide whether they were a threat or not, so him participating this baseball game was maybe the best way for him to infiltrate and get to know more of these brothers, and figure out their intentions in the long run.
And if that wasn't bad enough, there was also the upcoming chuunin exams where just about every ninja from the neighboring villages will come to either participate and view, and that could spill potential trouble for Konoha and the denizens of vault 115.
So Itachi being here was a necessity as there's also the unknown and mysterious dangers that are lurking around the corner, especially those who are eyeing for the Uchiha clan survivors especially.
