AN: SHORT CHAPTER. I'M WORKING ON MORE LONGER CHAPTERS. THIS CHAPTER IS LIKE A FILLER WITH SOME OTHER DETAILS SUCH AS ALLMIGHT' SUCCESSOR AND THE FOOTAGE.
"Things are getting worse now, young Mirio. Each day passes, heroes are met with new bunch of mutilated bodies." Allmight said rubbing his forehead. He's tired. Really tired.
Mirio knew what's his mentor getting at. All might was looking worse each day and Mirio knew that his services to the world is getting cut short each passing second. "I've heard Me Aizawa and Midnight found something. Gotta be something that help us get closer to the vigilante, right?" Mirio asked.
"I'm clueless, Young Man. I'm so clueless. Ever since that vigilante appeared I started feel so helpless. That day at USJ, he called me by my real name, as if he could read me. His aura was so powerful when he got closer to me. Since that day, I was troubled." All might confessed.
"Was he manipulating you? Playing mind games, I mean? If not how does he know you?" Mirio asked.
Allmight shook his head. "I don't know. But all i know is that, stopping him won't be easy. I've seen him fight. He kills without a second thought. Which makes him a killing machine that won't stop no matter what." He said with gloomy look.
Mirio was sweating when hearing all that. If Allmight himself ain't so confident, Mirio can only imagine the threat level of the Vigilante. "I'm still getting used to the power of One For All. I still do get hurt. But if you think I'm ready, I'll be out there and do everything in my power to stop the vigilante." Mirio said.
"You aren't ready l, Young Mirio. But I don't think there's enough time to train you to your full potential. There's hardly any time left. When the time comes, I'll cover you, but you have to finish that fight for me." Allmight said.
Mirio nodded. "I'm not sure how am I going to stop him, but I don't think I'll give up without a fight." He said.
"That's what I want you to do. If the Vigilante overpower you, just stay out of his sight and help people who needs you. And I do feel bad to say this, but there's a huge chance that we won't make it out alive. If that happens, be sure to go down without letting the innocents die." Allmight said truthfully.
Mirio stiffened when hearing that but he nodded immediately. "Understood."
Allmight just looks at Mirio and slowly nodded. "Thank you. For carrying such a weight for me." Allmight said.
"It's not a weight. I see it as my duty. I was ready for it for a long time now." Mirio said.
"I glad you're here for me and them, young man. You'll be a wonderful Hero." Allmight said.
Mirio nodded with smile but he noticed something else.
"I'm sorry if I'm asking something personal. But why is it that you look so sad. I know it doesn't have anything to with the future." Mirio asked.
Allmight stopped his small smile and his head slumped. Allmight have a reason. But he was keeping it for himself until now. "I need your judgement, Mirio." Allmight said.
Mirio just stood there and blinked. However he nodded. "O.. okay. But what for?" He asked.
"It's something I never told anyone. It's not something I'm proud of doing. Instead, I'm disgusted at myself. I do regret it." Allmight said.
"I don't get it." Mirio asked confused.
"I want to ask you something first. What will you do when the most important or favourite person in your life won't grant you something, even when they could? What if they deny you from having that even when they have a lot but won't share?" Allmight asked.
"Why are you asking me that?"
"Please, just answer me. What will you do?" Allmight asked again.
Mirio looks at Allmight then thought about the outcome of the said possibility. "I don't know. I'm not someone to lash out on anyone. But, I'd say it depends. Maybe I will be mad. Maybe I'll be sad. There's no saying it until I feel that for myself." Mirio said.
Allmight only nodded. "The answer is always hard to find, huh?" Allmight said to himself.
"What happened? What have you done?" Mirio asked, unable to contain his curiosity.
"I saw a kid some time ago. I saved him from a villain and then he held on to me until we landed few buildings away. At first he told me everything that a normal fan of mine said. But I wasn't expecting his last few lines. He asked me if he could become a hero. He was a quirkless child, you know? But I knew I saw something in him that day. But..." Allmight stopped with troubled breath.
Mirio stood there and saw Allmight' regretful expression. He connected the dots and he recalled Allmight' previous question. He only come up with one possibility. "You said he can't?" Mirio asked.
Allmight didn't said anything, confirming Mirio' theory true. "I was just trying to not drag him into any mess. But I failed to realise how harsh I was. I was blunt and I forgot that not everyone has a heart like mine. But yesterday I realised something. Something which I cannot forget." Allmight pauses and continues when Mirio nodded. "I realised that the boy passed away few months ago. I looked at some files and I realised that he died a week after I've seen him. His sister studies here and I never felt this ashamed in my life. I saw his family cry and all could do is watch. Every death of the people gives me nightmares, but this one case have more impact on me than the rest. After all, I was the who rejected his dreams. " Allmight said with so much guilt that, he lowered his head more.
Mirio felt bad too. "I have done things I'm not proud of. Nobody is perfect. But you realised your mistakes and that explains how much you changed. It won't bring back that kid, but all I can say is, we have to live with it. There's no escaping the reality." Mirio said.
"But, what do you say about me? The judgement." Allmight asked.
Mirio shrugged. "I cannot chase away your demons. But I can see that your trying. Trying to pick up your mistakes and get rid of them. You're on your own fir this one. If you're feeling guilty, then find a way to do something about it. I'm sorry for not being much of a help." Mirio said sadly.
Allmight nodded. "Guess, I'll have to figure things on my own." Allmight said.
He then stood up and moved closer to Mirio. "Let's talk about our main priority now." He said and held on both shoulders of Mirio. "Remember, focus on the One For All, connect your mind and heart to it and fight with everything you've got." Allmight said.
MEANWHILE...
"Is it possible?" Aizawa asked to the operator who did their best to tweak the footage and add more smoothness to it. So far they could only see so much. Due to the footages being shot in such inconvenient way, the pixelated image is nowhere near understandable. Even more frustrating thing is, the two figures they are suspicious of is only appears on the footage for few seconds. And CCTV could only capture a little bit of the figures..
"Yes. We aren't sure about the figure in black. But we could do something about the girl. But it'll take few minutes." The officer who operated the computer said.
"Good." Aizawa said.
"I can't believe the big mall is occupied with old cameras. We would've been already after the them if we had some quality footages." Midnight said.
"The mall ain't a place where criminal activity happens often. It explains why they are low on security." Tsukauchi said.
"I thought safety precaution is all about preparing the necessities before shit goes down. At least they should've known that CCTV is the first thing when it comes to the gathering information if something unfortunate happens. There's no use of the footages if it doesn't even give away the criminal' face." Midnight said.
"You're right. But we cannot expect everything go smoothly." Tsukauchi said.
But before they could argue anymore, the operator said. "We have a view." He said pointing at the screen with the girl.
