Quiet Serendipity
Finding herself sitting in a waiting room, finally in Thailand where she would be able to make the full transition into the body that she'd been hoping to have for all her life, Masami could see someone else sitting there, looking over at the wall and clearly trying to hold back from speaking for some reason or another. And so, gathering her composure, Masami made her way over to where the other person was sitting.
"Hey," she called, leaning in slightly so she wouldn't have to raise her voice in such a quiet room. "Are you all right?"
"Hey. You here for the same thing?"
"The confirmation? Yeah," she said, nodding. "I am. You're here for that, too? What's your name?"
"Masami Hikiishi," she said, revealing the name she'd chosen for herself for the first time; she hadn't even told Toshinori, and he was the nicest person she'd met. "What's yours?"
"Chatora Yawara."
The pair of them got to talking, and Masami found herself smiling at the thought that both of them had come for the same thing, just from different parts of the proverbial spectrum. She also found out that Chatora himself was part of a Hero group called the Wild, Wild Pussycats, and when he offered her the chance to meet his friends and the possibility of joining up with them, Masami felt warm inside for the first time since she'd been kicked out by her blood relations.
After meeting up with Toshinori, she wasn't going to call those people family ever again.
