Chapter 53: Invasion
"One day, I'll be dead and gone. Then, you'll be the King of Birka." King Bachus said and smiled. "Don't be sad when that happens. Death is an inevitable part of life, it's something that must be accepted and met with a smile."
Gin was shocked by his father's words. "Father! You can't die, Birka needs you!"
"Ha ha ha! Birka needs me as much as I need it. I'm doing my part but my reign is a simple footnote in the history of our land." King Bachus smiled, "I'll be dining with the Sun God when my time is over."
It was then that Gin understood that being a King was nothing compared to being a God..! Kings died when they got old and were forgotten by time. Gods are eternal and all powerful.
Being born as a prodigy of Mantra, Gin honed his skills and trained hard as he hungered for power. He worked his mind and body hard as he read countless tomes and exercised intensely.
After several years he finally found the answers he so desperately sought out. In one tome he read about the legend of the Dragon Balls! Seven magic orbs that when gathered would grant a single wish..!
In another tome he read about mythical fruits that bore the power of Devils… One of these fruits was held in his father's vault, a relic of the past.
Gin snuck into the vault one night and found the fruit. It was white and purple with strange spirals wrapping around it. He bit into the Devil Fruit and laughed as he walked slowly from the vault.
Guards rushed toward the open vault and were blasted away by a wave of Gin's hand! He had the ability to control air and wind currents with his Gust-Gust Fruit! Gin declared himself the God of the Sky and began destroying Birka!
Many Birkans fought against Gin and many others joined his cause, realizing the strength of God. Gin and his newly formed army sacked Birka Castle and murdered King Bachus…
"Kings are nothing but mortal men." God Gin said to his father's corpse. "I'll surpass you and every other Birkan King! With the Dragon Balls, I'll wish myself immortal; and with my powers, I'll crush anyone in my path!"
God Gin opened his eyes and sat up slowly. He looked through the window of his room and saw that the sun was beginning to rise. The morning had come so soon. He stood up and walked over the naked woman that littered the floor and bed.
After putting on his baggy white pants and sandals, he walked out of the room and looked around for Saishi.
"My Lord, you're awake!" Saishi suddenly called out as he dashed toward God.
God Gin smiled and said, "It's show time." He laughed.
"What are my orders, my Lord?" Saishi asked.
"You and Captain Fowler will bring the rest of the army across Angel Bridge and into Upper Yard. We're hitting the island hard. The Shandians and Namekians must be defeated. However, the Namekian leader must be taken alive." God Gin said firmly. "I must know where the Dragon Balls are."
"Very good, my Lord. I'll let the troops know." Saishi said slowly.
"Just go find Fowler and move out." God Gin said and waved Saishi off.
Saishi turned and ran away while Gin watched the clouds slowly brighten as the day began.
Asuka awoke hanging upside down. He stared groggily down at the clouds and ten thousand meter fall that he hung over.
"Holy shit!" He exclaimed and looked at his legs. He was tangled in a mass of vines and roots underneath Upper Yard.
He shook his head and remembered Gin blasting him off of the island. Asuka took a deep breath and began swinging his body to and fro. After building up enough momentum, he lunged upward and grabbed on to the roots and vines above him.
With a firm grip on the roots with his right hand, Asuka used his left hand to undo the knots around his legs. After several minutes of tugging and pulling, he freed his legs and grabbed hold of the roots as they swayed in the wind.
Asuka began climbing up the roots and vines and toward the bottom of Upper Yard. He pulled himself up and moved slowly as he tried to find the safest path. Eventually the roots led him to the rock and dirt of the island.
He grabbed hold of rocks and made footholds in the stiff dirt as he began ascending the side of the landmass. Moving slowly, his arms and legs began to tremble and ache as he pulled himself further up.
Intense winds blew at him and rocked him side to side as he climbed. Asuka held on for dear life and continued upward as his fingernails cracked and began bleeding. He grabbed onto a large jutting rock and pulled himself on top of it.
Asuka was able to stand on the jutting rock and take a breather as he stared up the side of the island. He saw something strange about thirty meters above him. He began climbing again and pushed through the pain in his fingers and ache in his arms and shoulders.
He pressed on and climbed further up the side of the island as he made his way toward a strange hole in the side of Upper Yard. Asuka pulled himself up onto an obsidian platform with a large opening that led down a hallway.
"What the hell?" Asuka stepped down the hallway and the light began to fade as he made his way further and further away from the opening.
He found a torch sitting in a sconce with a tinderbox beside it. Asuka grabbed the torch and used a piece of metal in the tinderbox to spark the end of it. The torch lit up and he walked further down the hallway and came to a set of stairs that led upward.
Asuka smiled and began climbing the steps.
Mugen walked into the Medical Hut and approached Shuhei, Zika and Hama in their beds. He looked across the large room and saw Calgara standing beside several other beds.
Calgara spotted Mugen and waved him over. Mugen zigzagged between injured people and saw that God Farin, Puck, Leslie and a few other royal guards were lying in the beds.
"A patrol found them in the jungle a few hours after dusk." Calgara explained, "We don't have the best history with the Angel Islanders but Kami wants us to work alongside them."
"Are they alright?" Mugen asked.
Calgara nodded and said, "We patched them up and they just need to rest a little more. Shandian remedies and Namekian healing arts can work miracles."
Mugen grinned and said, "Good. We'll need all the help we can get."
"That's the truth." Calgara said sadly. "Morning has come and war comes with it. The White Berets are likely pushing into our land as we speak."
"Then, what's the plan?" Mugen questioned.
"We're moving the children and elderly to the ruined city in the center of Upper Yard. They can hide and avoid the battle there. The warriors will either move out to fight or stay here to protect the village."
"Alright. Let me wake these guys up and we'll decide what to do." Mugen said and nodded.
"Good luck on the battlefield." Calgara said and smiled.
Mugen walked across the room and woke the others in their beds. Hama barked happily and Zika rubbed his eyes, "Mugen?"
"What's going on?" Shuhei asked.
"It's morning. Everyone is getting ready for Gin's attack." Mugen explained.
Shuhei and Zika jumped out of bed and stretched, "What's the plan?"
"What's the plan?" Renji asked.
He stood with Bulma, Yasui, Dende, Nail and Kami at the top of the bronze tower. Kami looked through the window at the vast jungle of Upper Yard and said, "They're invading as we speak."
"We have a lot of our soldiers moving east to face the soldiers. Others will remain here to protect the others." Nail explained.
"One of you should stay at the tower in case the battle leads here." Kami stated.
"I can stay here and help watch the town." Yasui said and smiled.
"I plan to push east with the other soldiers." Nail said and clenched his left fist.
"I'll go with you. We can take the nimbus to catch up with the others." Bulma said and smiled.
"I'll follow after you on foot and watch out for soldiers that slip by the warriors. I expect the higher ups will show their faces after their pawns have been exhausted." Renji sighed and said, "I also expect that they'll come for the Namekians. I just have a strange feeling."
Kami nodded and said, "I feel it too. God Gin wants something from us…"
Bulma summoned her Flying Nimbus and she leapt onto it, "C'mon, Nail."
Nail smiled and climbed onto the back of the nimbus. He looked at the others and said, "Good luck out there."
"Back at ya." Renji said and smiled.
Bulma and Nail zoomed through the open window as Renji began walking toward the elevator.
"Good luck, Renji!" Dende called out.
"I'll see you soon." Yasui said and chuckled.
Renji smiled as he stepped into the elevator and pulled the lever.
Explosions and screams echoed out from the heart of Upper Yard as the God Gin's invading force attacked. Shandian and Namekian warriors moved quickly to clash with the invaders as chaos erupted throughout the jungle.
A hail of arrows, gunfire and more explosives riddled the land as the all out war began! Zika, Hama and other warriors escorted the children and eldery south of the Shandian village to the ruined city. They could hear the battle starting as they marched through the jungle.
"Go!"
"Keep your voices down..!"
"Let's just keep moving, c'mon." Zika said as he walked with a group of children. "Don't waste time talking."
They pushed through thick bushes and arrived at the ruined city. It was beautifully crafted marble structures with dark green moss stretching around them. Most of the buildings were broken and completely reclaimed by the surrounding jungle but a vast pyramid stood untouched by war or time.
The warriors stood around and watched the jungle as the elderly and children began to climb the steps of the marble pyramid. Zika patted Hama on the head and sniffed the air, he could smell blood and smoke in the air.
Calgara, Mugen, Shuhei and the other Shandian warriors marched through the jungle as they prepared to face the soldiers. The soldiers pushed north and west into Upper Yard as they prepared to annihilate the residents of God's land.
Both forces marched toward each other as the key players moved into their positions. God Gin with his Priests and soldiers vs the Misfits, Shandians and Namekians!
Calgara and the Shandians zoomed through the jungle on their hoverboards, Shuhei and Mugen riding on the back of two. They sped through the jungle as sounds of explosions and screams sounded off all around.
They burst into a clearing where soldiers and warriors clashed savagely. Shuhei and Mugen leapt from the hoverboards and skipped into the battle. Shuhei threw swift and powerful strikes as Mugen sliced his blade through the soldiers.
Shuhei struck down a soldier with a kick and ducked beneath arrows as they flew at him. He Shaved around and jabbed Finger Pistols into the backs of two archers and evaded the blast of a Burn Bazooka. Calgara dashed forward and ran his spear through the side of the soldier that had shot at Shuhei.
Mugen cleaved the arm off of a soldier and kicked him in the stomach. He swatted an arrow away and Shaved around as he cut down unexpecting soldiers. Explosions rocked the clearing as a handful of Shandians were blown apart and Mugen stumbled back; his ears ringing violently.
Bulma and Nail zoomed through the sky on the nimbus and joined up with the Namekian warriors as they charged through the jungle. A group of soldiers appeared and shot a hail of arrows at the group of them.
They scattered around and charged at the soldiers as more arrows and rifles were shot at them. Bulma and Nail leapt from the nimbus and dashed at the soldiers. Bulma waved her Climate Baton and blasted four soldiers back with a blast of wind.
Nail barraged soldiers with powerful punches and leapt back as he hurled a Ki blast that erupted around them. The soldiers were blasted around and more of them came charging between the trees. A bullet struck Nail in the side and he slammed a savage kick into the side of a soldier's head.
Bulma hurled a Thunderball that struck a soldier and exploded, shocking the others around him. The Namekians struck down soldiers with heavy blows as a few of them shot Ki blasts around. Explosions and shouts echoed around as a Burn Bazooka blasted Nail's left arm off at the elbow!
A wave of White Berets led by Captain Fowler rushed into the clearing, blasting weapons and laughing as they charged. The Namekian warriors charged forward and many of them were shot down as a hail of arrows flew around the clearing. Bulma stumbled around and blasted arrows away from her with a blast of wind.
Captain Fowler skipped forward and hit Nail with a Thunder Dial, he called out as he was electrocuted and Fowler struck him in the chest with a swift punch. Bulma dashed at Fowler and sent a blast of wind at him. He absorbed the blast into a Jet Dial and struck Bulma in the side with a heavy kick.
Bulma stumbled to the ground and Nail slammed a savage punch into the side of Fowler's head. Two arrows struck Nail in the chest and he fell to the ground as explosions erupted all around them!
Renji moved east and north away from the town, sensing voices heading straight for him. A wave of soldiers came charging toward the Namekian town, Minami and Siashi at their head.
"Power Pole Extend!" Renji swung his staff as it elongated and he struck down a handful of soldiers as they charged forward. His staff retracted in size as he hurled chains to deflect arrows that rained down at him.
Saishi skipped forward and fired a 'X' shaped blade of wind from an Ax Dial. Renji evaded the wind blade ducked beneath a blast from a Burn Bazooka. Minami aimed a Flame Dial and blasted a wave of fire that singed Renji's cloak as he skipped back.
Renji Shaved around and struck down soldiers with his staff as Saishi blasted more wind blades at him. He evaded the blades and they shredded arrows as they flew at him. Renji hurled chains and struck down soldiers as he dodged a bolt of lightning from Minami's Thunder Dial.
Yasui and Namekian warriors charged at the scene and jumped into the battle. The soldiers and warriors clashed savagely as Yasui dashed forward and slammed a swift kick into Saishi's side!
Renji spun his staff around and struck down soldiers as he dashed toward Minami. She pulled out two Ax Dials and fired 'X' shaped wind blades that Renji leapt over. Minami used Jet Dials on her boots to propel herself up as Renji jumped and she slammed him in the side of the head with a powerful kick! He crashed into the ground and she flew through the air toward the bronze tower.
Renji skipped up and used his Power Power to vault after Minami as it grew longer. He flew through the air and slammed his staff down onto the top of her head! She dropped down and caught herself on a tree, using her boots to speed through the air as she lunged at Renji.
