Chapter 58: Keeper Of Knowledge

"Ha ha ha, I feel great!" Asuka exclaimed as he leapt around the large room at the top of the bronze tower.

"That Namekian Healing is amazing!" Bulma said as she laid on a large blue cushion.

"No kidding." Mugen added and smiled.

"Yeah, but Dende is worn out because of it." Yasui said and aimed his thumb at Dende asleep in a tall chair.

"We are forever in your favor, Misfits." Kami spoke slowly as he entered the room.

"No worries." Zika chuckled and Hama barked happily.

"What's gonna happen to Gin?" Renji asked.

"For real, that's what I've been wondering." Shuhei nodded.

"Gin and his surviving Priests are to be bound to driftwood and pushed out across the White White Sea." Kami answered as he sat beside Dende.

"Shit, that's heavy." Shuhei muttered.

"So they're being executed?" Bulma asked.

"Perhaps." Kami shrugged, "Perhaps not."

"And his soldiers?" Zika asked.

"Those that were conscious fled and the others will be given a chance to live here with the Angel Islanders." Kami smiled, "I'm hoping that we'll be able to achieve peace with Gin out of the picture."

"That guy was tough." Asuka chuckled, "He was a bad guy but I had fun fighting him."

Mugen and Shuhei chuckled and Bulma said, "You're weird."

"You took that guy down pretty quick though, Asuka." Zika stated.

"Only because you guys had already beaten him up before I got there." Asuka said with a grin.

"Nevertheless, he is defeated." Kami smiled slightly, "You kids have really surprised me…"

"Oh?" Asuka raised an eyebrow.

"My trust and faith in Humans is low. So low that it may as well be nonexistent. But… You kids are something special." Kami laughed a hearty laugh, " You remind me of him and his crew."

"Who?" The Misfits asked in unison.

"Peace D. Avery." Kami said nonchalantly.

"What?!" Zika, Bulma and Yasui exclaimed.

"You knew him?!" Renji and Shuhei exclaimed.

"Hmm. Peace D. Avery..? Where have I heard that name before?" Asuka thought out loud.

"You already forgot?!" Mugen gaped.

"He was the King of the Pirates, idiot." Bulma chuckled and shook her head.

"And you knew him, Kami?" Renji asked.

"Indeed. I traveled with him on his final lap around the Grand Line." Kami smiled, "He was an incredible man."

"You were there for his final lap?" Shuhei gaped.

"So then, you were there! You were there when he found the One Piece!" Zika exclaimed.

Kami nodded, "I was."

"What is it?" Yasui asked.

"I can't tell you." Kami said firmly.

"Huh?!" Yasui gaped.

"Avery asked me not to spoil the fun for everybody. You can learn as you go if you find the right places." Kami nodded.

"What do you mean?" Bulma asked.

"There are messages from the past scattered across the world on Poneglyphs. They were written by members of the Ancient Kingdom so that their history couldn't be extinguished entirely."

"The Ancient Kingdom..!" Bulma exclaimed.

"These Poneglyphs hold general information and tell the story of a dangerous organization coming to power." Kami sighed, "I already knew most of the True History of the world, but I went along with Avery so I could read the Poneglyphs to him."

"The 'True History'? You mean what happened during the Void Century?" Shuhei asked.

Kami nodded, "The Poneglyphs fill that hundred year gap in history."

"Master Orochimaru told me about Poneglyphs, he said they're written in an unknown script." Renji said.

"So then, how are we supposed to read them?" Yasui asked.

"Well, that's the issue." Kami said slowly.

"Are you saying we can't read them?" Asuka questioned.

"Very few alive today can read Poneglyphs. Avery had many copies of Poneglyphs that he had encountered but couldn't decipher them until he met me." Kami explained.

"Could you teach us?" Bulma asked.

"It is dangerous knowledge. Knowing how to decipher the Poneglyphs will cause pirates and the World Government to target you." Kami cleared his throat and said, "If you're willing to learn and can spare the time, perhaps I could teach you."

"How long would it take?" Renji asked.

"To become completely fluent in the script, maybe three years." Kami admitted.

"Three years?!" Bulma, Yasui and Zika gaped.

"We don't have that kind of time." Asuka said with a grin.

"I had assumed so." Kami nodded, "I have written a book, a guide to help someone learn to read the script of Poneglyphs."

"Really?!" Bulma beamed.

Kami smiled, "I have been waiting… After my journey with Avery, I've been waiting for the next generation to arrive."

The Misfits remained silent.

"I experienced the passing of time from here in the sky, the Guardian of Earth. I knew a hero in ancient times, a knight of the Ancient Kingdom. He filled me in on some of the events on the Blue Sea and I felt the rest unfold."

"You felt it?" Mugen questioned.

"His Color of Observation covers the whole planet." Renji explained.

"Huh?!"

"What?!"

"It wasn't until I landed on the final island with Avery that I knew the entirety of everything. It was bizarre, having not known the full story for centuries…" He smiled, "Since then, I've been waiting. The guidebook will help you learn if you study diligently."

"I'm willing to learn!" Bulma smiled and clapped her hands together.

"I'd like to try." Renji said.

Asuka grinned and asked, "When are we gonna party?"

Mugen smiled and Shuhei laughed.

Asuka's stomach growled and he chuckled, "I'm really hungry."

"We could have some food brought here." Kami suggested.

Asuka shook his head and grinned, "We have to party! The Namekians and Shandians and Skypieans! All of us together to celebrate our victory!"

Far beneath Skypiea and across the expanse of the Blue Sea, two of the Four Emperors met. The Patchwork Pirates sailed their ship, Odd Odyssey, toward four of Yellowbeard's ships! Dosu and Lucky stood at the prow and smiled as they approached the anchored vessels.

"I wonder where the rest of them are..?" Bishop, the Navigator, muttered.

"They probably aren't too far." Spinner, the Cook, responded.

"How long has it been since we've seen the old man?" Lucky asked.

Dosu grinned and said, "A few years."

The Patchwork Pirates dropped their anchor and looked out at the crowds of Minks, Fishmen and Humans of the Yellowbeard Pirates.

Dosu looked at the ships and saw that they belonged to Yellowbeard and his First, Third and Eighth Divisions. "I come with a peace offering!" He shouted as he held up an enormous jug of sake.

"Come on over!" The Vice-Captain of the Yellowbeard Pirates, Krauser, shouted from the deck of the main ship.

"I'll be back." Dosu said with a smile and he drew his cutlass from its scabbard. His sword cawed fiercely as it twisted and transformed into a large brown and white bird! Dosu held on to one of the birds legs as it flew over the water and to Yellowbeard's ship, Mantle's Crown.

His sword reverted to normal as Dosu landed on the deck of the Crown and he slid it back into its scabbard.

Krauser was a pale skinned Human who stood at seven feet tall. He had long brown hair and wore faded green pants and a tight white shirt. He raised an eyebrow and asked, "What's your business here?"

"Just here to chat." Dosu said as he walked slowly across the deck toward a large black chair where many pirates were gathered.

The crowd of pirates dispersed as Dosu approached Yellowbeard in his chair. Yellowbeard stood up and stared down at Dosu. He was a fierce looking Lion-Mink that stood at nine feet tall. He had a thick brown mane and a long golden beard that hung over his bare chest.

Immense pressure filled the air as the two Emperors stared each other down and flared their Conqueror's Haki as dark red flashes of 'aura' sparked out and; the sky above the Crown split open!

A handful of newbie pirates foamed at the mouth and collapsed as others chuckled and picked them up from the deck. Dosu placed the sake between Yellowbeard and himself and both of them chuckled heartily.

"What brings you here, boy?" Yellowbeard asked.

"We need to talk, Geezer-Cat." Dosu said and grinned.

Yellowbeard tossed a cushion down beside the sake and Dosu sat down on it. They grabbed large sake cups and drank happily as Yellowbeard sat back in his chair.

Yellowbeard filled their cups and Dosu said, "The future is coming. Sooner than we may think."

Yellowbeard smiled, "You learn how to be cryptic from Avery?" He laughed.

Dosu drank from his cup and said, "He was far worse than me."

"I remember the first time we met. You were some runt on my rival's ship and now you yourself rival me on these seas… Whatever happened to the other one, the blonde haired kid?"

"Hm..? Kadaro?" Dosu took another drink and sighed, "He took a different path."

"Oh?"

Dosu chuckled, "He's a Vice-Admiral in the Navy. But, he carries Avery's will in his own way."

"He ran off and joined the marines? The World Government must not know whose ship he was raised on."

"I don't know what he's up to. But, he's the one that ended up with the treasure." Dosu took another drink.

"Eh?! You lost it to the marines?!" Yellowbeard stared at Dosu in disbelief.

Dosu shook his head and said, "I had intended to give it to a prospect of mine, a kid in the middle of nowhere…"

"You were willing to bet the future on some kid?" Yellowbeard laughed, "What happened?"

"He ate a different Devil Fruit before I could find a way to give it to him. I was thinking things over and deciding how much to tell him." Dosu grinned, "And then Kadaro and I ran into each other. He said he found someone, his own bet on the future."

"And you just gave it to him?"

Dosu nodded, "Yeah, he may be a marine but he's still guiding the next generation."

They both smiled and drank from their cups.

"Then, his prospect is also a marine? Interesting." Yellowbeard said as he filled their cups again.

"More than you know." Dosu chuckled and took another drink.

"And yours?"

Dosu grinned, "Senju D. Asuka."

Yellowbeard cackled and drank from his cup, "One of my boys showed me his bounty poster after that shitshow in Yorknew City. Is he really Siegfried's kid?"

Dosu nodded, "Without a doubt. And so, who is yours?"

"Hm?" Yellowbeard raised an eyebrow.

"Don't try to be sly, Geezer-Cat." Dosu chuckled.

Yellowbeard laughed, "One of my sons has it. He doesn't know the whole truth but he's the next Pirate King!"

After the dead were buried and Gin and his Priests were dealt with, the sun set on Skypiea. Smoke and drum beats filled the air as Angel Islanders, Shandians, Namekians and the former followers of God Gin gathered in the jungle of Upper Yard.

They all danced and sang and ate with the Misfits as they partied and paraded around large fire pits. Asuka, Yasui and Zika danced around with a line of Shandians as Mugen and Calgara drank heavily beside a fire.

The party spread throughout Upper Yard as more and more people joined in on the festivities. Bulma sat with Buelle and Connie as they laughed and shared food. Renji and Shuhei sat with Kami and Dende at the base of a large tree as the party echoed around them.

Asuka spun around and danced around the fire as he laughed and clapped. Yasui held a small drum in his hand and pounded on it as he skipped around behind Asuka. Zika and Hama howled happily as they danced around with the surrounding Skypieans.

The intensity of the day had turned to excitement and celebratory joy after the victory over God Gin and his forces. Though many died, the Shandians proclaimed that the souls of the fallen would inhabit the trees of Upper Yard so they could watch over their loved ones. This seemed to bring peace and a kind of closure to the Angel Islanders.

Kami watched the countless interactions and dances as the party raged on and on. He smiled as he thought of Peace D. Avery and their lap around the Grand Line. His mind traveled further back to the Void Century, the last time he had seen Sun Wukong.

The boy had had no name other than that of his Devil Fruit, and he had carried it with pride..! He had traversed the skies and helped in the formation of the White Seas, the true God of the Sky.

Their last encounter was in the wake of the Great Battle. The organization now called the World Government had amassed a great army and abused the power of Devil Fruits to annihilate the Ancient Kingdom… Kami had felt the entire conflict unfold and broke out in tears when his friend fell in battle.

"Kami, are you alright?" Dende asked.

Kami smiled slightly and nodded, "Just thinking of the past…"

The next morning after the festivities had died down and Misfits had all woken up, they met with Kami and Dende at the base of the bronze tower. Asuka and Mugen yawned loudly as their group approached the two Namekians.

"Where's Nail?" Bulma asked.

"He's still resting after yesterday." Dende said with a quick nod.

"Understandable." Yasui stated.

"I wanted to gather you all here to ask you something." Kami spoke slowly.

"Hm?"

"Would you consider staying here on Skypiea for a few months?" Kami asked and smiled.

"Actually, we had talked about staying here." Asuka said and chuckled.

"Oh, really?" Dende asked excitedly.

"I need lessons in learning Poneglyph script before leaving." Bulma said matter-of-factly.

"And this Mantra, it's Observation Haki right? I wanna learn more about it." Mugen stated.

"Me too." Shuhei added.

"Same here." Zika and Yasui said in unison.

"We can learn some things about the world and train some more before going back down to the Blue Sea." Asuka grinned.

"After taking out a Warlord, we're gonna be bigger targets." Renji sighed, "Getting stronger will always be necessary with all of the enemies we have as a collective."

Kami nodded and said, "I am interested in a few of you. For instance, Asuka's flame conjuration. As well as Mugen's sword, it's eaten a Devil Fruit if I'm not mistaken."

"Huh, really?!" Zika and Shuhei gaped.

"So cool!" Yasui exclaimed.

"You can conjure fire?" Renji questioned.

Asuka nodded, "My willpower or whatever ignites in my fists!"

"That's not possible, is it?" Dende asked.

"I'm not entirely sure how Asuka does it but I have some theories… I'll share them later." Kami said slowly.

"Hm." Asuka sighed, "It's just my burning passion for battle, I'm pretty sure." Bulma rolled her eyes.

"Which fruit did your sword eat?" Zika asked Mugen.

"The Revive-Revive Fruit. It grants my blade the powers of the icy grave."

"Awesome!"

"Wait, that shouldn't be possible either." Renji said slowly.

"What do you mean?" Mugen questioned.

"Only Zoan type Devil Fruits can be fed to inanimate objects. It's speculated that they have a mind of their own so they're able to do so. But it's impossible to feed a Paramecia or Logia to an object." Renji explained.

"But my sword, Fantoma, has eaten a Paramecia…" Mugen raised an eyebrow. "Probably because the souls of a weapons creator are imprinted into them."

"Huh?!"

"That doesn't make any sense…" Dende muttered.

Kami laughed, "I'll happily help you all train and understand your abilities better before you return to the Grand Line."

Asuka laughed, "I guess we have a three month vacation in the sky!"

Everyone smiled.
