Chapter 68: Drawing of the Three
About four days after the Misfits' victory over the soldiers of Muscle Tower, a pirate ship and a submarine docked at Swordfish Island. The nine members of the Flower Pirates and seven members of the Enigma Pirates walked slowly down the docks and into town.
Eiffel D. Lucy and Yamanaka Sakura led this parade of pirates down the main street of Chum Town as the townsfolk stared at them warily. Lucy wore black pants with boots and a purple jacket over a white T-shirt. Sakura wore a black peplum skirt with knee high black leather boots and a tight white tube top.
The group of them continued through the town and walked into a bar, pushing two long tables together before they all sat down.
"What can I get ya'll?" The bartender asked the group.
"Ale!" Lucy, Ragnar and Tiger Lily shouted.
"And wine!" Sakura, Kosai and Pearl added.
"Right on it." The bartender said and moved to gather the drinks.
This alliance of pirates sat at the table and looked around cautiously, noting a few drunks in the corners of the establishment. Everyone turned their attention to Lucy and waited for her to speak.
Lucy smiled and looked around at the others, "The target is G-1." She said slowly. "It is one of the three primary marine strongholds here in Paradise."
Lee and Pearl looked around to see the Flower Pirates' reaction while their Captain spoke. Tiger Lily raised an eyebrow and shook her head slowly while Kosai glanced at Sakura.
"And you waited this long to share that information for what reason?" Sakura cocked her head to the left and peered over at Lucy.
"Because the first step of the plan is here on Swordfish Island." Lucy said and looked around the table. "We need to steal some documents from whoever's in charge at this island's marine base. I need information on marine routes and records of who controls which route."
"Why do we need to know all of that?" Daisy asked quietly.
"We can choose the best route to get to G-1 and take out some high ranking marines on the way." Lee said and nodded his head.
"Tell me more about G-1." Sakura said to Lucy, "It sounds like a difficult place to lay siege to."
"It is one of three strongholds that make up the Gates of Justice." Lucy explained, "There is G-1, the Paradise headquarters. Impel Down, the underwater prison. And Enies Lobby, the judicial island."
Sakura chuckled, "Sounds like a big job. And the marines could request backup from the other two strongholds at any time during our attack, right?"
"Well, technically, yeah." Lucy laughed.
"The three facilities use the Gates of Justice to travel between each other quickly. So yes, it will be very dangerous."
"How do they use the Gates of Justice to travel?" Kosai asked.
"The gates are located at each stronghold and they're all gigantic. Each gate reaches almost into the clouds, maybe they do touch the clouds but that isn't exactly the point. The three facilities as well as their Gates are in the shape of a triangle and the currents caught within said triangle are manipulated by the Gates of Justice."
"Oh, I see." Kosai smiled. "There must be a twisting current of whirlpools between the Gates of Justice, right? And the opening and closing of the Gates allow marine ships to ride the currents."
Lee smiled and nodded, "That's exactly right."
The bartender walked up to the table with two large trays in his hands. He set the trays down on the table and served the pirates their drinks. Lucy tossed a bag of coins that clanked on the table and she smiled at the man, "Thank you kindly."
"Yes, of course." The bartender grabbed the bag of Beli and walked back behind the counter.
The ale and wine was passed around and Lucy continued speaking, "We raid G-1, wreak havoc and destroy the Paradise headquarters." She grinned and took a big drink from her mug of ale.
"And what exactly is your end goal?" Sakura asked with a smile.
"My father is one of the three Admirals." Lucy admitted and chuckled, "I'm going to kill him and show the World Government that I'm not just some rookie pirate."
"And if we can weaken the Navy's hold on this half of the Grand Line then we could force them to pull their troops out of the New World." Lee stated and grinned slyly.
"It's definitely a lot to think about." Sakura stated and sipped on her glass of wine.
"It sounds crazy and desperate to me." Tiger Lily said to Sakura and glanced at Lucy.
"Oh, most definitely." Lucy said and smiled, "I'm the future Pirate King, you know. I was born to shake this world." She laughed and chugged the rest of her ale.
The doors to the bar flung open and the group at the table watched as seven other pirates and a large brown dog walked inside. The group of new arrivals was made up of four men and three women, all rough and ragged.
Sakura raised an eyebrow as she stared at the other group, "They're the Berry Pirates."
"Hm?" Lucy looked at the man at the head of the group. He stood a little over seven feet tall and had dark blue hair on top of his round shaped head. He wore a dirty brown jacket over black clothes and carried a cutlass on his right hip.
The seven pirates and the dog walked up to the bar and waited for the bartender to approach them.
After a few moments the bartender appeared from the storage area and greeted the Berry Pirates, "Good day to you folks."
"Ale. Lots of it." The large blue haired man slapped a handful of coins onto the counter.
The bartender nodded and scooped the coins into his hand as he went to get their drinks. The seven pirates turned and stared at the group sitting at the two long tables.
"Yo." Lucy said as she stared back at them.
"You lot have been staring at us since we walked in here." A short girl with orange hair said and patted her dog on the head as it growled.
Sakura smiled, "Well, you are famous." She took a sip of her wine and looked at the blue haired man, "You're Fushiguro Mayuri, aren't you?"
The large blue haired man laughed, "Yeah, that's me."
Lucy smiled, "So you guys are the Berry Pirates?"
Mayuri nods. "I'm the Captain, obviously." He points at a sleepy looking boy with black hair, "That's Shikamaru."
"Yo." Shikamaru waved lazily. He wore a red and black hakama with sandals and two swords on his left hip.
Mayuri then motioned at an eight foot tall man with gray skin and the orange haired girl, "That's Vector, Mimi and Pakkun."
"I'm Mimi and he's Pakkun." The girl clarified as she petted the dog. Mimi wore a see through mesh-like shirt beneath a ragged black vest along with tight black pants and boots.
"I'm Chi-Chi." A short girl with blue hair said with a smile. She wore a baggy orange hoodie with purple pants and worn out tennis shoes.
"And then that's Izuru and Sonja." Mayuri said as he motioned at a six foot tall Longarm with red skin and a tall blonde woman. Izuru wore a large brown leather vest with tight white pants and brown loafers. Sonja wore beige trousers with open toed shoes and a tight black tube top.
"Nice to meet you all." Lucy said with a nod.
"I'd love for you all to introduce yourselves but there's so fuckin many of ya's." Mayuri said with a grin.
Sakura chuckled, "Sixteen is a fair number of people."
The bartender served the Berry Pirates their ale and went back into the storage area.
Mayuri took a big gulp of his ale and burped loudly, "You guys aren't one crew, are ya?"
"No, boss, these are the Enigma and Flower Pirates." Shikamaru said matter-of-factly. "Those two are the Captains. Eiffel D. Lucy and Yamanaka Sakura." He yawned and pointed at the two women.
"Is that so?" Mayuri chugged the rest of his ale and wiped his mouth with his sleeve. "What are your bounties?"
Lucy grinned and Sakura rolled her eyes carefully.
"Forty-three million." Sakura answered and smiled slightly.
"And you?" Mayuri grinned as he stared at Lucy.
Lucy grabbed another mug of ale and took a drink. She set the mug down and smiled widely, "One hundred million." She laughed.
"Huh?!" Mayuri gaped for a few moments before shaking his head.
"What are you worth?" Sakura asked playfully.
"Sixty-one million." Mayuri said and cleared his throat.
"Look at that." Lucy laughed, "We're two-hundred-and-four million Beli sitting right here at the bar." She chugged the rest of her ale.
"You know there's a marine base here on this island? Maybe they've already sent someone to capture us." Mayuri laughed.
Lucy nodded her head, "Whether they send someone down here or we march up to that base, we're gonna confront the marines here no matter what."
Mayuri raised an eyebrow, "Oh? So you aren't here for the New Year's festivities?"
Mimi and Izuru chuckled while Shikamaru yawned.
Lucy grinned, "We're here for something much bigger than the turn of the year. What do you say, Mayuri, do you wanna turn this island upside down?"
Mayuri laughed loudly and looked around at his crew, "This chick is crazy. I like her!" All of them laughed and Mayuri looked back at Lucy, "What did you have in mind?"
At around one o'clock in the afternoon, twenty-three pirates from three different pirate crews strolled down the main street of Chum Town. They strolled down the street and turned toward the marine base on the island.
The pirates walked coolly down the street and up the hill as the ground steadily rose before them. The townspeople watched the pirates march forward and they hurried inside before whatever was about to happen went down.
A unit of six marines spotted the mass of people marching toward the marine base and stood in the street to halt the parade. The pirates slowed down as they approached the marines and Lucy, Sakura and Mayuri stepped forward.
"State your business." One of the marines said as he adjusted his grasp on his rifle.
"These guys are pirates." Another marine stated as he thought deeply, "I'm sure that I've seen them on posters…"
Lucy grinned, "You boys should move out of our way."
Mayuri chuckled, "Yeah, stand down or you'll get hurt."
The marines raised their weapons and the three pirate Captains sprang into action. Lucy Shaved forward as she drew her sword and swiftly cut down the two marines in the center of the group.
Sakura crossed her arms over her chest and arms sprouted from the back of the two marines to the right, "Seis Fleur: Twist!" The arms twisted the marines' upper bodies around and cracked their hips and spines.
"Berry-Berry Bombers!" Mayuri's hands swelled up and separated from his arms as he hurled them forward at the remaining marines. His hands struck them in their heads and knocked them unconscious before they hit the ground.
The group of pirates continued forward up the hill as Mayuri reattached his hands and laughed loudly. Lucy led them onward and in a matter of moments they arrived outside the gates of the Swordfish Island Marine Base.
Lucy lifted her sword upward and Shikamaru took a few steps forward, "Whoa, hold up. I got this one." He grinned and drew his swords from their scabbards as he approached the large gates.
"Be my guest." Lucy took a few steps back and watched as Shikamaru twirled his blades around and shattered the large gates with a wide flying slash.
The group of pirates dashed into the main courtyard of the base and were met by a force of marines who were scrambling into action. A handful of marines took aim and fired their weapons at the intruders and the Berry Pirates charged forward.
"Let's go, girls." Sakura said and smiled slyly as the battle kicked off.
The Flower Pirates charged forward and the Enigma Pirates followed suit. The pirates and marines clashed with each other as screams and gunshots rang out all over the courtyard. Sakura looked around and quickly sprouted limbs from various spots on the bodies of several marines. She shattered their bones and broke their necks and her limbs poofed away into lilac colored flower petals.
Lucy extended her left arm and conjured her room, the light blue bubble expanded quickly and covered the entire marine base in a matter of seconds. She pulled her sword from its scabbard and swung it horizontally, "Amputate." Twenty marines were suddenly cut in half at the waist and toppled over onto the ground.
"Agh!" "What's happening to me?!" "Why am I still alive?!" "I'm not hurt..!" The soldiers screamed out in confused panic as their comrades were flattened by the attacking pirates.
The courtyard was cleared in just under two minutes and the twenty three pirates stood proudly over the bodies of the beaten marines. An alarm began to blare loudly and a high pitched wiiiiiouuuuuu spread across the marine base.
"Alright then, everyone." Lucy spoke and the others turned to look at her. She held her sword with the blade facing downward and imbued energy from the Op-Op Fruit into the sword. "Scan." She moved her sword around slowly and analyzed every inch of the base.
"What the hell was that?" Mayuri asked.
"Your whole power is mind boggling." Shikamaru chuckled.
"I just scanned the base to see where the marines were." She grinned, "More of them are on their way here."
"Like my Glare-Glare power..?" Kosai raised an eyebrow.
"Shambles." Lucy waved her hands and both the Flower Pirates and Berry Pirates switched places with marines inside the base.
"Whoa, what the hell?!" A marine bellowed as he looked at Lucy and then the Enigma Pirates disappeared, replaced by other marines.
"What is the meaning of this?!" Vice-Admiral Armstrong bellowed out to the marines around him.
"Pirates, sir!" Commander Lisa shouted over the loud murmurs from the other marines.
"Quiet down, all of you!" Vice-Admiral Armstrong shouted. Armstrong stood just under six-and-a-half feet tall with a bald head and an extremely muscular physique. He clenched his left fist and looked over at Lisa, "Tell me more."
"Sir! We have identified the intruders as three individual pirate crews in cahoots. They are led by Eiffel D. Lucy, Fushiguro Mayuri and Yamanaka Sakura." Commander Lisa explained.
"Well, then, let's go kick the hell out of these pirates!" Vice-Admiral Armstrong shouted and the surrounding marines cheered.
The Enigma Pirates stood over unconscious marines in the mess hall of the marine base and looked around cautiously as the alarm continued to blare. Wiiiiiouuuuuu!
"Shambles." Lucy waved her hands around and every Transponder Snail in the base appeared in a pile on the floor. She staggered around and caught herself on Lee's shoulder.
Lee looked to his Captain and frowned slightly, "You're wearing yourself out too fast." He warned, "You should drop your Room for now and catch your breath."
Lucy shook her head, "It drains me to keep summoning and retracting my Room. I'm better off just throwing out one big one and leaving it for as long as I can."
Chihiro dug through the Transponder Snails and pocketed a few as she searched the pile. "No White Snails, huh?"
"Where are the marines at?" Ragnar asked as he paced around the mess hall. "These guys didn't put up much of a fight."
Willem shrugged, "I'm sure they're around somewhere."
"Lucy, where are the other pirate crews?" Pearl asked.
"I split us up so we didn't get in each other's way." Lucy smiled and took a deep breath, "Let's get moving."
Duros nodded his head and looked to the exit of the mess hall, "I'll take point."
Kosai Shaved around and struck down marines with swift strikes as Tiger Lily slammed savage kicks into others. The Flower Pirates clashed against a few dozen marines in a long hallway on the second floor after suddenly appearing there.
Sakura shattered the bones of several marines with her conjured arms and the limbs burst into flower petals that rained down through the hall. She ducked under the swing of a marine's sword and jabbed a Finger Pistol into his throat.
Iris, Tulip and Rose dashed side by side down the hall and ripped through the incoming marines with blades and savage strikes. Iris had pale skin with brown hair and wore a red hanten over a black bodysuit. Tulip had dark skin with black hair and wore a white sweater with red pants and shoes. Rose had creamy white skin with blue hair and wore ripped denim jeans with black boots and a zipped up red jacket.
Posy and Blossom beat down marines with their batons as Daisy skipped around and zapped the others with Electro. Posy had clear white skin with dirty blonde hair and wore tight white pants with yellow shoes and a tie dye shirt. Blossom had bronze skin with black hair and wore blue Pien Fu with multi-colored tassels and beads hanging from her waist and back. Daisy was a Rabbit-Mink with white fur and wore a black tube top with red pants.
The Flower Pirates beat through the marines in the hallway as the alarm continued to blare. The women took a moment to catch their breath and they looked at Sakura.
Sakura wiped the blood from her right index finger off onto the white shirt of a dead marine and smiled at her crew, "Lucy split us up with her ability. I'm sure that she's gunning for the Vice-Admiral so let's make sure to make a scene and thin out the marines."
Kosai closed her eyes and rested her left hand on her temple. She used Clairvoyance to look at the marine base and nodded her head slowly, "The Berry Pirates are fighting their way up here to the second floor. The Enigma Pirates are making their way up to the fourth floor. More marines are approaching us from the south end of this hallway." She opened her eyes and pointed down the hall to her left.
Tiger Lily grinned and looked down the hall, "Let's make a scene, then."
The Berry Pirates shredded through marines as they dashed up the marble stairs leading to the second floor of the marine base.
"We're not gonna miss out on all of the fun!" Mayuri bellowed as they ran. "I bet she sent herself up to the top!"
"Splitting our crews up was a tactical advantage." Chi-Chi stated.
The group of them arrived on the second floor and were met by a unit of marines. Mayuri split his body up into two dozen ball shaped orbs and slammed his pieces into the marines as his head remained stationary and laughed.
"Fang Over Fang!" Mimi and Pakkun leapt forward and twisted themselves around rapidly as they bounced off of the walls and ceiling before slamming into the marines and crashing through them.
"Twin Basilisk Razors!" Shikamaru skipped forward and hurled red flying slashes as he swung his sword. The projectile slashes sliced through marines and sent their pieces flying as sprays of blood painted the walls and ceiling.
The unit of marines were broken in a matter of moments and the Berry Pirates continued onward across the second floor.
