Chapter 12 : Minamoto Castle Arc II – March

Before sunrise, the troops under Chaldea Army had begun to march all the way to their next destination. Viewing from afar, the men marching was large in number that could make everyone think that it's over a million of soldiers were going but in truth the total number of their army were around 500,000. The commanders of each army were all riding in horse and with them were the Touken Danshi assigned with them.

After reaching their destination point, the whole army separated heading to each of their destination.

The first army heading to conquer Kofu Castle was under the command of Nagao Kagetora, with her were Benkei, Sasaki Kojiro and Izumi no Okuni. Her vice was Sanchoumou of Touken Danshi and with him were Azuki Nagamitsu, Gotokai and Iwatooshi.

The second army heading to conquer Toyama Castle was under the command of Watanabe no Tsuna, with him were Mori Nagayoshi, Fuma Kotaro and Inshun. His vice was Shokudaikiri Mitsutada of Touken Danshi and with him were Souza Samonji, Fudou Yukimitsu and Tsurumaru Kininaga.

The third and final were the main army under the command of two heads, Hijikata Kojirou and Oda Nobunaga. With them were Okita Souji, Okita Souji Alter, Ushikawamaru, Minamoto-no-Raiko, Sakamoto Ryouma, Okada Izo and Senji Muramasa. The vice of the army was Izuminokami Kanesada and Hishikiri Hasebe, with them were Yamatonokami Yasusada, Higekiri, Hizamaru, Yagen Toushirou, Imanotsurugi, Kashuu Kiyomitsu, Horikawa Kunihiro, Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki and Kikkou Sadamune. At the very top of the whole army was none other than the Lord of Chaldea, Gudao and with him was Saniwa.

From this whole journey, Saniwa remained neutral but could not deny that he sometimes peeked towards his counterpart Master. Gudao remained neutral, face forward with bravery reflecting to his eyes. Both of them wore traditional high-ranking clothes of Japan, to show their power and standing within this army.

'Gudao did complain to me that he hated acting like an actual Lord, yet to show how he did it really outstand me to the point I will never believe that he's acting at all…' Saniwa thought as he stared Gudao's back then glanced behind to see the reaction of all samurai soldiers companying them. All wore a brave face, resolute on marching towards war. 'For them to have that expression… shows how loyal they are towards the Lord they serve and that's Gudao.' Saniwa glanced towards Nobunaga who's grinning in delight and Hijikata with pleasant expression no matter how much he covers it with stern look. This made Saniwa smirked a little, 'They did mention about how they taught Gudao how to act like a Lord, I guess they're so proud for what he could do.'

The march continued for days until they finally reached the destination point. The troops began building their base while the higher ups were looking ahead, a clear view of Minamoto Castle on sight.

Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki sigh in relief, "I'm glad that our journey all the way here were peaceful and safe, I really thought that we would meet a large number of Jikan Sokōgun to interfere our march all the way to their home castle."

"Now that you mentioned it, that's weird. With this large number I'm very sure that we were already noticed as such they should have sent their own army or create traps to hinder us, yet they didn't." Izuminokami Kanesada said in contemplated look. Hijikata glanced towards him and nod in agreement, "Normally that's the obvious action, however you seem to forgot that we are not dealing with people Izuminokami."

"Eh?" The mentioned Touken Danshi reacted while his partner, Horikawa Kunihiro voiced the confusion. "What do you mean Hijikata-san?"

"It means our enemy have a high confidence to think the possibility of us succeeding was very low." Oda Nobunaga voiced the answer instead before turning to the castle, eyes glaring in anger. She murmured, "Looking down on us, they had truly pissed me off."

"Calm down Nobu." Ryouma said to the angry Archer before turning to his master, "What are your thought, Master?"

Gudao was looking the castle with calculating eyes before turning back Ryouma to say his answer, "They want to overwhelm us within the castle, but mostly trap me to either be killed or captured."

"I agree… and now that I am here myself, I could feel four Servants waiting inside the castle." Ushikawamaru muttered as she gripped her sword tightly. Imanotsurugi who noticed this looked worried, "U-Ushikawamaru-sama…"

"Let us recall our current knowledge." Senji Muramasa offered as he brought out the scroll and put it on the table, which their men prepared for the leaders, to discuss their plan. "As of now, only Saito Hajime is confirmed inside that castle while Akechi Mitsuhide remained a possibility if he's here or not."

The mentioned of Akechi Mitsuhide's name made Kikkou Sadamune's eyes narrowed.

Senji Muramasa continued as he brought out another scroll, "Thanks to Konnosuke that we have information about Minamoto Castle's blueprint, however keep in mind that this is not absolute."

"Indeed, Singularity tends to change a lot of stuff, people's memories, perception of time and even landscape." Alter mentioned as she nods her head, agreeing to Muramasa's words.

"So, do we charge in or sneak in?" Izou asked impatiently.

Yagen Toushirou looked trouble as he looked at the map on the table, "Sneaking in with this number, how?"

"I don't think sneaking in is possible, our only option is to either charge straight to the castle gate or we surround them and naturally demand them to surrender but…" Higekiri said, followed by Hizamaru. "I can't imagine them surrendering like normal people would and surrounding the castle may not be a good idea, Jikan Sokōgun can reappear anytime they die so their men is limitless Anija."

"So, our only option is attacking the gate head on?" Horikawa Kunihiro questioned.

"Not a bad idea but for that, we already have a plan how to tackle this." Raiko said with assuring smile as she glanced toward Hijikata who grunted and looked to the castle's location. Hijikata voiced his question to his master without looking, "Master is your command seal in full charge?"

"Of course, Hijikata-san." Gudao answered as he raised his right hand, showing the Command Seal. "My command seal is full and ready. I assure you that I could provide you as many times as it takes."

Hijikata grinned in delight, "That's what I want to hear."

"Command Seal? What's that?" Kashuu Kiyomitsu questioned.

"A spell that gives Servants like us an absolute order." Okita answered with a grin, "You'll see when Master used it."

Saniwa observed everyone for a moment before turning to Nobunaga, "We're not charging the front gate nor we will surround them, do we Nobunaga-san?"

"Definitely not, the Demons Army is expecting that as such no traps or hindrance on our way here." Nobunaga answered as she sways her right hand then grinned darkly, "But we plan on playing a long for a bit, they gave us this welcome so it's right for us to return it back graciously."

Hishikiri Hasebe trembled a bit when he saw that dark grin from female version Oda Nobunaga, 'What is she thinking!?'

Gudao on the other hand looked at Nobunaga with respect and trust as he gave his solid order, "Show me how Oda Nobunaga gives grace towards our enemy."

Oda Nobunaga's dark grin became darker, something that could compare to a demon king. "With pleasure…!" She turned to Hijikata who's mirroring her expression, something that made the Touken Danshi, who were part of the Shinsengumi, shivered in fear. Hijikata was known as the demon of Shinsengumi for a reason to think the two known demons will join forces… what's going to happen to them?

Few hours later, the Chaldea Army began making the first move under the command of Hijikata Kojirou. With him were Izuminokami Kanesada and Horikawa Kunihiro.

"Charge!" Hijikata roared as he rides his horse, along with the large number of men forward the front gate.

Above the walls of the castle, Jikan Sokōgun appeared and preparing to use the arrow to shoot them down when out of nowhere, a terrifying black snake dragon flew towards them and above it, Sakamato Ryouma was standing while the other three, Okada Izo, Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki and Minamoto-no-Raiko were on knees as they were being carried.

"This is crazy!" Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki could not help but yell in glee because not in his life he thought he could ever experience riding a flying dragon like he was now.

"I know that your excited but prepare yourself Mutsunokami, we'll immediately deal with them swiftly." Izo shouted and Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki answered back in excitement, "Of course Izo-san!"

"Oryou-san, let's do it!" Ryouma shouted and Oryou in her dragon form answered back, "Sure!"

Oryou gave a loud roar as she in dragon form started attacking the Jikan Sokōgun from the left going to the right in high speed, in middle of it the three passengers jumped away to create more chaos among the enemy's army. Ryouma who remained smirked as he roared the name of their noble phantasm, "Amakakeru Ryu ga Gotoku!"

Oryou chumped every Jikan Sokōgun that's unfortunately on the way happily while Ryouma kept in high alert and would either slash the them with sword or shoot with his gun when given a chance. Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki who was watching for a moment gladly copy his previous owner as he slashed and shot the Jikan Sokōgun around him. Izou was grinning darkly and happily as he kept slashing the Jikan Sokōgun with his swords while running around the top of the walls. Minamoto-no-Raiko wasn't falling behind either, jumping down to reach main gate and without hesitation went to berserk just to kill as much enemies as possible.

Since Jikan Sokōgun were not like humans, none of their corpse were ever left behind but no matter how much they kill, they will always appear somewhere to fill up the numbers again but this was not a problem to the Chaldea Army as they're used to it and the next phase was on the move.

On the rear side of the castle, the rest of the army under the command of Oda Nobunaga had charge to create a breakthrough. With her were Okita Souji, Okita Souji Alter, Hishikiri Hasebe, Yamatonokami Yasusada, Higekiri, Hizamaru, Imanotsurugi, and Kashuu Kiyomitsu.

"Overwhelm them my men! Conquer the Minamoto Castle under our banner!" Oda Nobunaga shouted with glee, clear charisma as a leader radiating to her presence. The army did not hesitate to roar loudly as they fearlessly charge against the large number of Jikan Sokōgun in front of them and the battle began.

Above the sky, the remaining members which were Gudao, Saniwa, Senji Muramasa, Yagen Toushirou, Ushiwakamaru and Kikkou Sadamune were above riding on a riding chariot operated by a shadow Servant.

"This is far too crazy!" Kikkou Sadamune commented in disbelief as he looked the situation below. "You created a team just for us to be scrambled around the place. Will we be alright?"

"Of course, we will Kikkou." Ushiwakamaru assured as she observed the situation in keen eyes, "If we moved formally, we'll fall in their own plans that's why Nobunaga's proposal makes more sense."

"Not only that, the fact that our enemy was doing defense shows that they're not focus on defending the castle but buying time to find the actual target." Senji Muramasa followed as he glanced to both Masters which everyone understood the meaning.

Yagen Toushirou was sweating for a bit before glancing to the shadow Servant, "Gudao-san summoned a shadow servant to provide us a ride while Aruji-sama created a barrier around us to cover our presence and from sight… To be honest this was still hard to believe."

Saniwa was very much focus on the barrier surrounding them but still able to respond to Yagen's comment, "Indeed it was… Gudao you called this a Shadow Servant because they are copies of the original Servants but I don't remember meeting him before."

"I'm sure you haven't as he's not actually with us but his name was under the list of the Heroic Spirits. If you recognize the name Achilles, that's his name." Gudao answered despite his focus was maintaining the shadow servant as long as possible.

'Achilles… I heard his name before but I don't remember the deed… all I know was the name was one of the Greek histories.' Saniwa thought and left it as that as it's not important at the moment.

"Everyone the main gate was finally breached!" Ushiwakamaru announced and true to her words, the main gate had fallen and Hijikata's army had finally breached in and continue to press forward heading to the castle main door.

"We can't have ourselves fall behind now. Everyone braces yourselves! We're barging the castle and take down the castle's Guardian Servants!" Gudao announced and all replied with yes as the shadow servant Achilles began driving to their next destination.

Inside the castle, an enemy servant was sitting patiently. This servant was wearing a familiar Shinsengumi haori, eyes were slick and glowing in red. This person was none other than Saito Hajime, behind him were a large number of Jikan Sokōgun waiting for orders.

"Finally… I had been waiting for so long… Hijikata-san!" Saito Hajime glowered as his crimson eyes glowed even more, anticipating their arrival.

This is to let the readers know that the next update will be this coming next year January 2023. The reason was ever since I received a news about the new season of Touken Danshi anime and switch game, I wanted to watch it first before continuing this fanfiction to gain some new idea on how to proceed with this story. Although I have a flow of the story, there were some parts that I don't feel satisfied with so I hope everyone understand my little plight. Thank you once again for reading this fic and expect the next update in January 2023.
