Chapter Eight

Hospital…

Two hours later…

Charlie, Larry, and Alan were anxiously waiting for news on Don's condition while Megan was talking to Colby about Philbrick's possible connections and where he may have disappeared when a female doctor came walking up to them, getting everyone's attention.

"How is he?" Charlie asked, worried about his brother, as even though it was just a shoulder wound, his brother could still be in serious condition.

"Your brother will be fine, Charlie." The woman said with a gentle smile on her face, "It was not serious and, while we will have to keep him overnight, the prognosis is looking good, so you don't have to worry too much."

"When can we see him?" Alan asked, as he was also thinking about Robin, who was on her way after her appointment with her doctor in relation to her pregnancy and he worried about how this would affect her and the baby.

"He's in surgery now and it will be another hour before we take him to recovery and then it will be another 45 minutes before you will be able to see him." The doctor said with a sympathetic look, as she knew that the family would be eager to see the injured agent

"What about the other man that was brought in?" Megan asked, as she knew that the man was still alive and they needed answers

"His wound was slightly more serious but he will be in surgery longer than Don and it might be a while before he can be questioned." The doctor said, hoping the last part will give the agent the hint that she needed to be patient.

"All right, let me know tomorrow of when it will be best to question him." Megan agreed, before adding, "Besides, I want to be here when you release my boss, as I want to make sure things go smoothly for him."

"Appreciate your help." Alan said gracefully, "Even though he knows better, he can still be a handful as a patient."

Alan's comment helped break the tension as everyone briefly laughed, knowing how stubborn Don can be and were just happy that he was going to be okay.

Unknown to them, the surviving shooter, before he was put under, was already planning his escape and bent on finishing the job, no matter who or what was in the way.
