Chapter Nine

Thirty minutes later…

Outside the hospital…

Larry was heading to his car, as he needed to get to CalSci to retrieve some paperwork, as he knew the Dean would be demanding it, despite the recent event that happened at the school that he should have his attention on.

While heading to his car he spotted a figure heading into the hospital, who looked vaguely familiar to him but he couldn't place it at the moment.

'Must be visiting someone in the hospital.' Larry reasoned, as he couldn't think of any reason to be suspicious of anyone entering the hospital, just that there was some familiarity but he dismissed it, as there's always a chance it isn't someone he knows and it would lead to a minor understanding.

He would soon learn that it was indeed someone he knows and that he would wish he had warned his friends.

Inside the hospital…

Same time…

Colby was on the phone with the director, telling him of Don's condition and what to expect when the surviving shooter gets out of surgery.

"I understand the urgency sir." Colby said, "But the doctor said that the surgery would take a little longer for the suspect and it might be tomorrow when we can even try to question him, so right now it's a waiting game, sir."

Granger knew the urgency but he didn't want to upset the hospital staff and get himself or anyone else kicked out until after Don was released.

While he was listening to his boss he noticed a familiar looking figure moving discreetly around the receptionist desk, making him suspicious but he decided to remain silent about it until he could get a good look at the man.

"Thanks for your understanding sir, I will call you again soon if there are any new updates." Colby said and hung up after that to go check on the man at reception.

"Excuse me sir, are you lost?" Colby asked the man, who was clearly nervous about something, as the man was startled when Colby came up to him.

The man turned around to face Colby and the men stared at each other in shock when they recognized each other.

"Granger." The man simply said

"Leonard Philbrick, where have you been?" Colby demanded
