My Little Pony: O Death

Chapter 1: Necessity and Balance

Nopony lives forever. For there to be life, there must be death. Do not think of me as evil, I am not evil. I am a necessity to ensure balance and harmony, even if my duty is an unhappy one. Some will meet their end by violence. Others will pass peacefully in their sleep. It's my duty to not take their lives, but escort souls to where their deeds lead them

I am Eterna. I am The Spirit of Death. To those whose time has come, I appear as a white mare a bit more shapely in the flanks than Celestia if I say so. My eyes are silver, and pupil-less. My mane and tail are white as well and resemble white flames. If you touch them, you will not be burned. I do find happiness in helping good spirits reach the Havens

I have a sister that is my opposite, Gaia is The Spirit of Life. In Equestria, there are those that represent the Sun, the Moon, Love, Friendship, and for me and my sister, Life and Death. I am not one you should fear. Gaia shall be there are your beginning, and I shall be there at your end. I do not control how one will meet their end. That's up to the Fates

"Eterna, good to see you,"

"Same to you, Celestia," I replied

"I come to you with a special need," I said to the Princess as I bowed in her presence, and keeping on the marble floor for the safety of those around me, "my sister Gaia says that you can make me a special pair of boots to combat the problem with my hooves," I explained, you see wherever my sister will roam, her hoof-steps bring life with each step

With mine, well, you get the idea. Princess Celestia nodded with a smile, "I can, and I will Eterna, it will take some time though," Princess Celestia explained, I smiled back as I can see in her eyes that she is a pony of her word. I made a bow to her to express my utmost thanks, and made my way to the Havens in the farthest land from all of Equestria.

A week had passed, and Princess Luna had arrived at the Gates of the Havens. My home is beautiful. The roads are made of white marble. There is peace, and tranquility. There are waterfalls, and pools where spirits swim and play, "Excuse me, your highness," said a young colt coming into the Gates, it pains me the most to see one so young pass away.

"Welcome, Little One," I said

"And welcome to you, Princess Luna,"

The young colt had sadly lost a battle to cancer. The colt hugged me, and I gently nuzzled him as I let him pass through into the Havens. The Havens are said to be the beautiful place in all of Equestria, "Hello Lady Eterna," she said, bowing to me as I did to her, "I come baring a gift from Princess Celestia..." she explained, and smiled to me, "your boots"

They were silver boots with a large diamond on each of them on the upper front and center. I used my magic to put these boots on my hooves. Being that of which I am, even I felt fear in seeing if they function as they must. Princess Luna winced, and closed her eyes tightly as I gently touched her. She opened her eyes, and I smiled in relief "I'm alive!"

"They work, you and your sister have my greatest and utmost thanks for your contributions, know that I will always wear them when I walk among the living, only when I am in my realm will I remove them, you have my word," I promised to her, Princess Luna smiled, and nodded before making a bow, and making her leave of my realm. I adore it here.

"And the Moon rises," I said to myself

'One is ready' I thought to myself

On a pegasi's wings, I flew to the home of an old stallion that just reached 100 years. As I quietly visited his bedroom, I noticed that he was in good company with all his family around him in his home. A decorated war veteran and a former royal guard, the stallion looked to me. His aged eyes were halfway open, and he smiled lightly and warmly to me.

"Are you ready, my old friend?" I asked him in a soft and warm voice. He nodded lightly with his head resting on his pillow. I lightly smiled back with the utmost respect to his decision. I have tasked with my duty for eons. I'm older than the very land of Equestria. I know all who pass through the gates of my realm in the Havens, "rest now, my friend,"

He closed his eyes for the final time, and he passed away peacefully in his sleep, "You were a good and just pony in your life, in the Havens I shall wait for you," I whispered in a soothing voice, and left the room. The morning arrived, and tears of sorrow were shed at his passing. I always allow a new spirit their time, and come to me when they're ready.

"My lady," said the stallion's spirit

"Good to see you, Gold Star," I soothed

Though my touch and my aura is a relaxing and soothing cold, my smile is warm to him as I allowed him passage into my realm. As I am who I am, I am gentle and kind, and I never discriminate. Gold Star arrived in a spirit echoing his prime. He's well-dressed and sharp in his dress uniform and medals galore. There is room for everyone in the Havens

There are homes for everyone. There are lush golden fields as far as the eye can see. Like Equestria, my realm is a land of peace and harmony between all species. There is no anger or hatred. To the spirits, I am their neighbor. They know, and I know them. Often times as I stroll through my realm, the spirits of fillies, colts, and hatchlings run and play

This stallion had a wife, Patches, that I welcomed twenty years prior to his arrival, and it warmed my heart to see them united as they embraced with a love that is still as strong as it was in life. When I come be not afraid. For nothing lives forever. When your task is done, I will be there to grant you safe passage. For I am Eterna. I am the Spirit of Death
