New story, new theme, helping a friend, here's hoping you like it.
After School Surprise
Outside, waiting at the Canterlot High parking lot are six band members and best friends of the Rainbooms: Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Twilight Sparkle, and Fluttershy each doing their own thing to keep their minds busy, though it seems like Rainbow Dash can't keep it in much longer.
"Come on, when is Sunset going to get here?" Rainbow Dash questioned.
"Calm down, Rainbow Dash, I'm sure she's checking on a few things at her club before leaving." stated Applejack.
"But it's already been twenty minutes since classes ended and the day's wasting away while we just sit here in this parking lot." Rainbow countered while bouncing a soccer ball on her knees.
"She did say she had a surprise for us, she's probably getting ready to show us." Twilight believed with her talking dog, Spike, on her lap.
"I can probably guess what it is, but I ain't saying anything." Pinkie giggled as played cards with Fluttershy.
"If you wish to ease your mind, perhaps joining us will help." Fluttershy offered.
"Fine..." Rainbow Dash relented and sat down next to them, starting the game all over.
"I sure hope that it isn't another dangerous magical incident, all that danger nearly ruined my hair." said Rarity as she applied some makeup on her face.
"You know, it's actually been a while since we've had to face anything magic related since the Starswirled Music Festival." Rainbow Dash pointed out.
"I still can't wrap my mind around us being in a time loop." said Spike.
"Which is a nice break if you think about it, at the end of the fight we're just a bunch of teenagers trying to live our lives in peace, though with a bit of magical assistance." Applejack chuckled, looking down at her geode necklace.
"Hey guys, sorry I'm late." Sunset Shimmer said as she walked up to them with Flash Sentry right next to her.
"Hey girls." greeted Flash.
"Hi Flash." the Rainbooms greeted back.
"Finally, do you have any idea of how long you've kept us waiting. I already finished practicing my soccer moves over a dozen times and playing cards was starting to get boring!" Rainbow complained right at Sunset's face.
"But we haven't even stated." Fluttershy pointed out.
Sunset chuckled as she scratched the back of her head, "Hehe, sorry, I was getting nervous about the surprise I wanted to show you."
"Well, I hope it's something with style, because I could use some new inspiration for my Winter design this season." said Rarity.
"Not exactly, but it's something lovely." Sunset hinted.
"Oh, did you get a new friend for Ray?" Fluttershy asked.
"Fluttershy, you would be the first person to know about that, working at the Animal shelter and all." Sunset reminded making Fluttershy blush a bit.
"Is it a new magic power you just discovered!" Twilight asked curious with a pen and note in each hand.
"Nope." Sunset just shook her head.
"A new chow toy?" Spike asked exciting.
"Spike, I just gave you one yesterday." Twilight reminded.
"Oh yeah, it was cool." Spike smiled.
"Well, you see I… how do I tell you this?" Sunset said nervously.
"How about we show them." Flash moved Sunset's head toward his and brought their lips together for a few seconds before separating and looking at the shock expressions of their friends.
"Oh, my goodness!' Rarity gasped.
"No way." Rainbow Dash's eyes widen.
"Great Giant Apple in the Sky!" Applejack gasped.
"So, you two are…" Twilight paused wondering if what she is seeing is real.
Sunset look at Flash with a slightly angry face before turning to her friends with her cheeks blushing and they hold hands.
"Yep, Flash and I are dating again." Sunset revealed.
"That. Is. AWESOME!" Rainbow Dash cheered.
"Oh, I'm so happy for you two!' Fluttershy clapped her hands.
"I knew you would get back together!" Rarity smiled.
"WA-HOOO! Give it up for the rekindled couple, Flash and Sunset!" Pinkie shouted with small pink explosions like little fireworks.
"Amazing, when did this happen?" Twilight asked.
"A little after the music festival, we ran into each other to see the band and we got caught in the music that we ended up kissing each other without even realizing until the music was over." Sunset explained.
"We talked for a while and I express of how much I miss having her by my side even though we ended in bad terms, I really wanted to make us work again because all this time I still love Sunset longer than forever. There's no other woman I rather be with than her." Flash hugged Sunset with one arm.
"And so, we're together again." Sunset finished the story.
"Oh, that is the sweetest story I have ever heard." Rarity complimented.
"I always knew you two were too good to be separate from each other for long." Applejack tipped her hat to the couple.
"Now I just have to throw you two a reunited love party!" Pinkie said in excitement then her body starts to shake and twitch.
"Uh, my Pinkie Sense is going off all the sudden." Pinkie informed everyone.
"Is something bad going to happen?" Fluttershy worried.
"I don't think so, this is a mixture of my 'Mystery Gift' sense and 'Unknown Dozzy' sense." she said.
This just got them to look at one another, confusion evident in their faces, "So, when does this happen?" Flash couldn't help but ask.
"When we reach your house." Pinkie just answered with a smile.
After a few seconds of processing what they've just heard, they just shrugged their shoulders and went on their way, knowing fully well that one just doesn't question Pinkie Pie or her methods, it's both a waste of time and a good way to lose your sanity.
As they reached the front door of Flash's house, they saw that he had received a package. It was of moderate size, big enough to hold a few books, and its design was simple and didn't betray anything out of the ordinary.
The 8 humans and dog just stood there, looking at the box, wondering if this was what Pinkie was alluding too.
"So... is this it?" asked an unsure Applejack.
"Yep, this is it!" proclaimed the ever chipper Pinkie Pie, her smile never leaving.
"I don't see what all the hype's about, it's just a box." said an incredulous Rainbow Dash.
"Flash, did you order anything recently?" Sunset asked.
"Nope." was all Flash could say, looking at the thing like it was a Dodo bird come back to life.
"Well, if you didn't order it, then why is it even here?" asked Rarity.
"Hey! There's a note attached to the side, maybe it can tell us something?" Fluttershy softly pointed to the box's side where, as she said, there was a note taped to the box.
"Well, if we want to know more, might as well look at the obvious clue at present." stated Twilight as she took the note and began to read it out loud, with everyone paying attention.
"To whoever receives this box,
Inside you will find a collection of what could only be described as one of THE most entertaining and awesome video game franchise to have ever been created in the history of gaming. The franchise may have over about a 100 or so games, but this box contains only my most favorite of them all both because I believe them to be the best in my opinion and view and because the others aren't all that suited for certain systems. Hope you enjoy them!

"Hey, we are so beyond awesome to play!" snapped an angered Rainbow Dash.
"Huh, so this box contains this game franchise that's very popular from wherever it came from." Applejack looked at it more closely, no longer apprehensive about it.
"I don't know, can we really trust someone from what could possibly be another world outside of Equestria?" Sunset asked a little curious.
"Especially when they have an unsettling name like 'Vein Bloodborne'?" Rarity also questioned, feeling a bit unsure about the intentions of a man with such a name.
"That title, 'Queenslayer' doesn't sound nice either." Fluttershy stuttered, simply saying the word spooked her.
After giving the note a once over, Twilight noticed more written on the back and read it too,
"P.P.S.
Don't worry, nothing bad's going to happen, the games are rated E^+10, so just about everyone can play them. Despite my rather manly name I'm one of the good guys, so don't worry about me sucking your blood or anything.
As for my title... *sigh* let's just say that there was no other way.

"Really!? There are even better ones? Come on, hurry and let's get this party started!" Rainbow Dash quickly opened the door and took the box with her.
"Well, that just about answers all of our questions, we've got nothing to worry about. Let go in and see for ourselves." Flash suggested.
"I'm actually very curious to see what these games are like myself." Twilight agreed.
"Well, if you say so." Rarity relented.
And with that, they all went inside, ready to spend some afterschool time relaxing and playing some games.

This one's a favor from a friend and fellow writer: Shadow Joestar, as part of his challenge to make a few stories using some of the elements he was currently using. In my case, while I have a few ideas I want to try out and use, with his permission of course, I believe that it would be good to start things off with this one:

I would've released this earlier, but... let's just say that a certain story doesn't want to be written and I need a new computer.
Either way, Happy Late Birthday Joe, hope we can continue to give this place some more stories and chapters this year as well.
