I woke from my sleep abruptly. I told myself that it was just a dream, it was but at the same time, it wasn't. After my parents died my brothers and I moved in with our godparents, the Potter's. They were very welcoming and treated us as if we were their one. I'd only been seven at the time so it was confusing to me why we couldn't stay in our own home. But Ty just told me to go along with it.
I kept thinking about all the changes for me in that year. And how all those changes are some of the best things in my life. For example I got to live with my best friend and his adorable siblings who were already like family. I'd known the Potter's since I was born so at least my brother and I weren't stuck with some stranger.
I pulled myself from my thoughts and decided to get dressed. It was September 1st, the day we left for Hogwarts. It was James and I's fifth year, Albus's fourth year, and Lily's second year. We were all Gryffindors although Albus was strongly considered for Slytherin and Lily was considered for Hufflepuff.
A sudden knock interrupted my thoughts. I had finished dressing so I allowed whoever it was to come in. It was James.
"You better eat otherwise your going to miss the Express," James teased.
I rolled my eyes at his toddler like jokes. He had always had that quality to him.
"Hey James," I said as if I forgotten about his warning.
He smiled and gave me a hug. His smile reminded me of the sun rays after a storm. It was my favorite thing about him. I could be having the worst day and then James smiles. It turns into the best day ever.
"Carrie your so slow," called out a teasing Lily Potter.
Lily was dashing through Kings Cross Station. She was so excited for her second year at Hogwarts and did not want to be late because of her "soul sister" as we called each other. We both grew up with brothers so the bond we shared was a special one.
I was finally starting to catch up and said, "It's only because I was very tired. I didn't get much sleep, I had a nightmare."
James who had been listening suddenly looked worried, "Are you alright?"
I nodded and gave him my smile that said everything he needed to know.
"Here we are, Platform 9 3/4," Albus announced.
Lily looked up with excitement and turned towards her parents with joyful eyes and a wide grin.
"James and Carrie you go first, then Al and Lily, and your mother and I behind you," Harry commanded.
All four of us nodded. Then James grabbed my hand and we rushed through the barrier. A couple of seconds later we were joined by Lily and Al and then Harry and Ginny.
I smiled as I looked at my surroundings. I loved Hogwarts and could not wait to get back to my favorite place in the world. James looked over at me as if he knew what I was thinking. We stared into each other's eyes and smiled shyly.
Albus rolled his eyes and complained, "When are you two going to get together?"
We looked at Al with very annoyed expressions gracing our faces. Everyone always thought we'd make a cute couple. And to tell you the truth it actually sounded okay (maybe more than okay.)
"We are just friends," James defended.
I nodded in agreement, "Yes, nothing more!"
Al just shook his head and said that we'll see.
"Goodbye!" a sobbing Ginny called.
The four of us were waving to Harry and Ginny as he had to keep her upright. Once we had pulled away from the station Al and Lily moved to the compartment next to us. I looked out the window to see the fields in various shades of green.
"Carrie," James said, "I uh, am going to go get a snack."
He left me alone in the compartment, extremely confused. He had sounded as if he was going to tell me something but decided against it.
A few moments later he arrived with a handful of chocolate frogs. I laughed uncontrollably at his Uncle Ron's card. He was trying to be suave but he just looked ridiculous. We then got on an entire conversation about how ridiculous we could look in photos.
We were having a marvelous time until Molly Weasley, the prefect from Ravenclaw came in and told us to get changed in our robes. I went into the compartment with Lily and Al went into the compartment with James. Lily and I started talking about all sorts of things until the train jolted to a stop. I looked out the window and smiled.
We were at Hogwarts.
A/N: Sorry if it was short! I promise I will make the chapters longer. But for now what did you think?
