It's been only two or three weeks, and I'm already back? Yes! I did it! I really hope everyone likes this. I know a lot of people don't like Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu, so I hope adding C.J. in makes it better. Enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do not own Ninjago or the lines from the episode Wasted True Potential.
The sun was shining, the warm daylight shone through the window and onto Zane's cool, titanium face, but all was not right. There was a loud banging sound that came over and over again. It woke Zane up in fright. What was that?
Zane quickly got out of bed and slid open his door. No one was around. It felt odd and rather creepy without the sound of his friend's voices.
The ice ninja walked through the hallways, feeling oddly terrified, but he had to find out what was making that noise. He made it to the courtyard, to see the door to the monastery shaking violently and the noise growing much louder.
Zane carefully walked up to the door before asking, "Who is it?"
Zane reached his blue gloved hand towards the door, but it opened suddenly to reveal a female serpentine. It was unlike any serpentine race Zane had ever seen before, though.
"Who are you? What do you want?" Zane asked as he got into a fighting position.
"Revenge!" the serpentine yelled before she took her staff and blasted Zane with some sort of energy from it.
The next thing Zane saw was serpentine, a lot of them, just like the female serpentine, who blasted him. He then saw an ice palace holding a really creepy ice samurai guy on a throne inside. There were more snakes attacking people, and an ice dragon that froze an entire village of people! Including his five ninja friends. All of them were frozen in a block of ice. Jay, though, was only frozen up to his neck.
Suddenly, Jay woke up, and started yelling, "Zane! Wake up, Zane! Cole's about to beat your high score!"
Zane gasped as he woke up only to see Jay uncomfortably close to his face.
"Jay!" Zane exclaimed as he backed up slightly so he could get out of bed. "I just had a terrible nightmare!"
"Oh, I'm afraid it's not a dream, Zane. It's real. Cole's about to beat your high score!" Jay told him.
"Mmm, not that I had a nightmare. Something terrible's going to happen. There was an evil serpent with a weapon, and it zapped me with it, a-and there was an ice castle, a-and a dragon, a-a-an-and."
Seeing that he was getting pretty worked up, Jay was quick to put a hand on his friend's shoulder and shush him.
"Relax, Zane," Jay told him, "it was just a dream."
"It was a vision!" Zane protested.
"Zane, when was the last time one of your visions actually came true?"
"All of my visions have come true."
"Uh, like which?"
"Like the vision about the titanium dragon, and the vision before that about the green ninja, and the time before that about the-"
"Okay, okay," Jay waved him off, "but this is different. Now, seriously, Cole's about to beat your Lava Zombies score, and I don't wanna miss it! So, come on!"
Meanwhile, just as Jay was saying, Cole was playing Lava Zombies and was getting incredibly close to beating the nindroid's high score. Lloyd, Nya, Kai, and C.J. were all watching him in excitement.
Cole was wearing a soda guzzler while his son, C.J., was sitting next to him wearing a small one. His was filled with apple juice, though.
"Get the guy on the left!" Lloyd told Cole.
Cole did as Lloyd said and turned his avatar to the left to take down a lava zombie with his spiky bat. He then took out the other three in front of him.
"Cole, you're on fire!" Kai exclaimed.
Cole then took out the last zombie and won!
"Whoo-hoo! You did it!" the ninja cheered.
"That was awesome!" Kai cheered.
"Lava Zombie King!" Cole self-proclaimed.
"Yay!" C.J. started jumping up and down on the couch in excitement.
Just then, Jay and Zane walked into the room.
"Aw, man. We missed it," Jay said, disappointed.
"Congratulations, Cole. That is quite an achievement," Zane told the earth ninja with a smile.
"Thanks, Buddy. No hard feelings?" Cole asked just to make sure.
"Of course not," Zane smiled.
"Ah, good because my arm is pretty sore," Cole said as he began rubbing his arm.
"I'm sore just from watching," Nya mentioned.
"Know what I'm thinking?" Kai asked.
"Hot tub!" all of the ninja screamed.
It wasn't long until they were actually in the hot tub, and then they started screaming it again. They seemed way too excited for something they did multiple times a day.
"Kai? A little heat please?" Nya asked her brother.
"Not too hot, though," Cole said as he held C.J. The toddler loved the hot tub even more than the ninja did!
"Don't worry, Papa Bear, I got this," Kai said with a smile as he activated a small fire in his hand and put it in the water, heating it up enough to satisfy the ninja and keep C.J. from feeling too hot.
Cole slurped some soda from his guzzler before sighing, and saying, "This is the life."
"Oh, we earned it, Pal," Kai said as he stretched. "Fighting all those bad guys, saving Ninjago."
Suddenly, the ninja gasped when they heard a thud. They looked up to see their young master overlooking the ninja with an unpleased expression.
The ninja relaxed a bit when they saw that it was him, though.
"Oh. Hey, Wu. Wanna join us?" Kai offered.
"Yeah, there's plenty of room for more," Jay added.
"No, thank you," Wu told them. "What happened to training?"
"Eh, we'll do it tomorrow," Kai said.
"Yeah, we're still recovering," Cole told him.
"It's been months!" Wu suddenly snapped, startling the ninja. "If you really need to recover for that long, maybe I should send you to a doctor again."
Cole and Lloyd groaned at this. They were both sent to the hospital by Wu after the oni invasion, and long story short, it was not a good experience.
"Months? Really?" Nya asked.
"You can't be serious," Lloyd told him.
"Well, I am," Wu told them.
"Oh, well. Who's counting?" Kai asked.
"I am!" Wu exclaimed, but with him looking so young, the ninja couldn't take him seriously and they started snickering.
Wu ignored this, and said, "Look at yourselves! You're lazy and careless and complacent. You do nothing but play videogames, eat junk food, and soak in the Sacred Bell of Divinity! A symbol that should not be taken so carelessly."
"Why let the bell sit here to rust when it has so many good uses?" Kai asked.
"Get out!" Wu yelled. "I expect to see you in the game room in three minutes!"
Their master then walked away angrily, leaving the ninja in shock and disappointment. C.J. immediately obeyed, though, and began using his floaties to attempt to swim over to the ladder. Nya was quick to grab him, though, as the one and a half year old wasn't the best swimmer.
"Careful there," Nya said as she picked him up.
"Thanks, Nya," Cole said as he walked over to her.
"No problem," Nya smiled.
Kai groaned as he climbed up the ladder. "Why can't Wu just lighten up? We're not doing anything wrong?" Kai asked.
"Maybe he just really likes this bell?" Cole suggested as he followed before taking C.J. from Nya so she could climb up easier.
"No reason to attack us on our character!" Nya complained.
"Maybe he's mad about Faith," Jay suggested as he climbed out.
"It's not her fault he didn't go back to the First Realm with her. At least I don't think so," Lloyd said.
"In my estimations, it has been a while since we last trained. And Wu is right about our unhealthy intake of what is known to most as 'junk food'," Zane mentioned.
"Oh, please. He's a kid!" Kai said. "What does he know?"
"He still has all of his memories from even when he was an old man," Jay mentioned.
"It's still weird taking orders from someone younger than you," Cole semi-agreed with Kai.
"Um, didn't Wu say in three minutes?" Zane asked as he noticed how long they had been talking.
Unfortunately, the ninja made it to the game room one minute late. Their master was not impressed.
He scowled at them as he went down the line of ninja.
"You have become soft, lazy, flabby," Wu told them as he used his staff to remove a sandwich from Cole's hands.
"Okay, that's getting a tad personal," Cole told him.
"Nobody has gone soft, Wu. I promise you: We are in perfect condition," Lloyd said right before Cole belched loudly in his ear.
Wu looked directly at Cole, and asked, "How should one raise a child when he himself is so immature?"
Cole's jaw dropped at the words.
"I-I-I'm doing a fine job!" Cole told him.
"You have the potential to do more than just fine, Cole!" Wu told him. "Come, C.J.!"
C.J. hesitated a moment before he slowly let go of his dad's leg and walked up to Wu.
"Since ancient times, the hills around the monastery have been populated by a species of highly aggressive predator," Wu explained as he began to pace the room, C.J. followed him. "The first monks built the walls extra tall to keep them out. They failed!"
Next to Wu was a box with what sounded like a very angry creature inside.
"Many monks were lost," Wu told them.
"What's in the box?" Jay asked. He sounded terrified.
"In order to survive, the monks became faster, more cunning. They evolved into ninja," Wu told them. "To this day, it is a test that every ninja must face."
"Uh, test?" Cole sounded worried as he slurped his drink.
'To prove their courage, they must survive five minutes in a room with one of these," Wu said before he took a lock off of the box and left the room with C.J.
C.J. whimpered as he was worried for his father.
Wu held C.J. in his lap as he sat on the floor, and said, "As long as your father follows what I taught him, he should be fine."
C.J. nodded slightly before looking back at the door.
Inside, the box was slowly opening to reveal a very angry looking...chicken.
Cole gasped in fright before he started laughing.
"Oh, he had me going there for a sec," Cole chuckled.
"Who knew Wu had a sense of humor?" Jay asked as he started to laugh too.
Suddenly, the chicken started glowing blue as electricity surrounded him. He jumped up and landed on Kai's head, pecking and electrocuting the fire ninja. He then moved to Jay and did the same although he wasn't affected as badly. Jay then began to army crawl across the floor so he could help Kai, who was regaining consciousness. The chicken then flapped up to the ceiling lamp and sat there a moment, but he was still glowing.
All of the ninja jumped up at once, but the chicken was too fast and instead of catching the chicken, they all bonked heads with each other. Zane then used his power to freeze one of the chicken's wings so Lloyd could grab it and put it back in his box.
The ninja all leaned against the door in exhaustion, panting for breath while Lloyd asked, "How-how long was that, Zane?"
"Twenty seconds," Zane replied tiredly.
The ninja all groaned just as Wu opened the door. Probably because of the prolonged silence. The ninja all landed in a heap on the floor.
"Hey," Lloyd said as he looked up to see Wu. "We got the chicken."
"Yeah, it's in the box," Jay told him.
"We're-we're as sharp as ever!" Cole could barely get the sentence out as he was panting for breath.
"You are weak and slow," Wu told them. "A ninja's guard is never down! He expects the unexpected, and is ready for anything."
"Right," Cole said before belching again. "That's us."
Wu chuckled as he turned his back on the ninja. "We shall see."
"What does that mean?" Lloyd asked as C.J. went back to his father.
That night, Jay was getting ready for bed and was just about to get in his pajamas. But when he opened the cabinet, three darts came hurtling towards his face. He managed to dodge just in time, though, and they landed in his door behind him.
When Kai was about to take his shower, he pulled the chain to start the water, but only a few drops came from the faucet. A huge fountain ended up coming from underneath, pushing him into the ceiling!
That night, Cole tiredly opened the fridge to get a bottle for C.J., but he was greeted by the chicken, who immediately started to attack him. Seeing what Cole was actually trying to do, though, Wu stopped the chicken and let an unhappy Cole bring the bottle to his son.
Meanwhile, Lloyd was on his way to the bathroom, but he noticed that there was a laser grid in the hallway. Knowing this was a test, the green ninja got past the lasers with ease, but he wasn't expecting a rope to grab onto his ankle at the end and begin dangeling him from upside down. He was stuck there for a while.
As Nya was sleeping, she felt a sudden chill that woke her up. She screamed when she found that she was on the highest point of the monastery with her mattress and pillow.
Around 1:00 A.M., Zane was playing Lava Zombies to try to beat Cole's score, but he was interrupted when the statue of a dragon head came crashing down on the opposite side of the couch, catapulting him into the ceiling.
An hour later, Cole was about to reward himself for changing C.J.'s diaper with a cake Pixal had made earlier that day. He reached out for the cake and took it out of the fridge, but he was instead greeted with a trap door. The cake did not survive.
Nya tried brushing her teeth the next day but instead got slimed in the face when the bottle exploded, she marched into the game room where the boys were, and said, "This has to stop!" She then walked up to Lloyd, and said, "We have to do something, Lloyd!"
"Okay, okay. Let me think," Lloyd told her. He began to think for a moment before saying, "This is ridiculous. Let's just go and talk to him. Like reasonable ninja."
The ninja all went to the courtyard, where was Wu was currently sweeping. He seemed pretty calm compared to yesterday.
"Master Wu?" Lloyd asked, the phrase felt strange on his tongue. "Is there anything we can do, as a group, that would prove to you that we have not gone soft?"
"So you can stop booby-trapping stuff!" Jay yelled.
"There is one thing," Wu told them.
"What is that?" Lloyd asked.
Wu threw his broom to the side, hitting his staff, and launching it over to him.
"Prove me wrong by defeating me in combat," Wu told them.
"Combat?" Lloyd asked.
"But I thought you said fighting never proves anything?" Nya asked.
"It will prove that you can still fight," Wu pointed out.
"Aren't you a little young to fight us?" Jay asked.
"Jay!" Nya exclaimed.
"What? You told me that just the other day," Jay told her.
Wu scoffed in anger at his student's words. He activated his creation element, something he hadn't done in years and jumped in the air before letting it release on the ninja, scattering them to different sides of the yard. Wu then took off his cape and attacked the first to get back up, Lloyd. Lloyd managed to dodge and tried to jump in the air and kick Wu, but Wu used his staff to push Lloyd off to the side.
"Fail," Wu said.
Kai and Cole then ran up at Wu, but they hardly got in a position to attack before Wu pushed them off. Wu then noticed Nya coming from the air to kick him down, but he managed to grab her foot and swing her around before letting go of his student. Nay ended up crashing painfully into the porch, and a couple buckets of water were knocked over by the impact.
Jay began to run at Wu, but after taking less than three steps forward, he was met with a staff to his gut, and he was flipped over Wu's head. Wu then jumped at Zane and kicked the ninja of ice down. None of the ninja were on their feet.
"You were my age when you first fought Lord Garmadon. Why shouldn't I fight?" Wu asked.
The ninja felt embarrassed as they all stood back up. Not just because of how horribly they were failing, but because of their words and gossip about their now younger master.
"Apologizes later. Right now we gotta worry about not getting our butts kicked," Cole told Jay.
Cole activated his earth punch and ran at Wu, punching the ground when he was right behind him, but it did absolutely nothing.
Fear and dread ran through Cole as he looked at his normal hands.
"Wh-what?" Cole asked.
"Just like a child to a parent, you have lost the respect of your power," Wu explained before he kicked Cole to the side.
Zane then ran at Wu and tried to take his staff from him.
Jay tried feeling the spark in his hand before he charged it up more and shot at Wu, but the young master got out of the way and caused Jay to accidentally shock Zane!
Nya then used her power to gather up the water around her and started shooting at Wu, who was running around the courtyard.
"Uh, Zane?" Jay asked right before Wu ran past him, and he was knocked over by Nya's water.
"Gosh, sorry," Nya called to her yin.
Kai and Lloyd then activated their elements and began firing relentlessly at Wu, but he still managed to block every shot. After using his staff to toss Lloyd to the side, the other five rushed their master and tried to grab him.
"Get his legs! Hold him!" Jay yelled.
"Those are my legs!" Zane exclaimed as Cole and Nya lifted him into the air.
Cole let go, causing Nya to fall over from the weight of her nindroid brother.
"Slow and clumsy," Wu said.
The ninja all looked up to see that Wu was now on the roof of the monastery.
"Huh? How'd he get up there?" Kai asked.
"This is getting embarrassing!" Jay exclaimed.
"Ninja go!" Lloyd yelled as all of the ninja jumped up into the air and did spinjitzu to get on the roof, but everyone almost fell off except for Lloyd.
Kai and Jay then used spinjitzu to charge Wu, but Wu managed to dodge, causing Zane, who had come up with his ice, to completely miss his master. Cole then jumped at Wu but slipped on ice Zane had accidentally created when fighting Wu, and he fell off the roof and onto the ground with a painful thud. It wasn't long before Jay came crashing onto him, then Zane, then Kai, then Nya.
Lloyd was the only one still on the roof with Wu, and he would prefer to keep it that way. He jumped from one roof to the next until he was face to face with his uncle again.
The green ninja took his sword out and ran towards the teenager, but he slammed the bottom of his staff to the roof, allowing tiles to become loose. He then hit the tiles like baseballs towards Lloyd. The green ninja just barely managed to dodge them, but with his balance off, Wu easily knocked him down on top of the mountain of ninja.
"Fail," Wu said with a satisfied sigh.
"Maybe Wu's right," Kai said.
"I think so," Jay struggled to breath with the weight of four people on top of him.
"We need a quest," Lloyd told his friends.
Suddenly, the ninja heard screeching above them and saw the chicken coming down to attack.
"Oh, no," Cole groaned as he saw it coming down to them.
As painful as it was going to be, they were too tired to run or get out of their mountain, so they let themselves get attacked. Tomorrow, though, they were going to fix this.
So that was the first chapter. I hope you guys liked it.
