Thorn and Cloudberry

It was a dark and windy night, the crickets singed their night song and a breeze blew the leaves off the trees. A dark brown tom with green eyes sat on top of a cliff with a white fluffy she-cat with green eyes by his side. Both cats looked up at the stars and while the tom smiled at the beauty of twinkling stars, the she-cat didn't. She looked worried if anything, like if something horrible was about to happen. The dark brown tom looked at her and saw the troubled look and became concerned.

"Is everything alright?" he asked.

"E-Everything's fine." The she-cat stammered.

The tom chuckled and looked back up, he figured she was overreacting about being out here. After all, they were outside clan borders, they would be safe.

"You have nothing to worry about Cloudberry, we're outside clan borders, no one is going to know." The tom assured her.

"And if someone does?" she asked.

"Well, I'll stay away. At least, until it all blows over." He meowed confident.

"It won't blow over Thorn. If they see us, they'll make you a slave and kill me." Cloudberry meowed, shaking her head.

"Why would you live with such a clan, if they treat dark-pelt cats like me as slaves?" Thorn asked.

"Because, I know I can do good there than out here." Cloudberry meowed.

"What makes you so sure? The way I see it, they'll never change." Thorn meowed unsure.

Cloudberry looked down and didn't answer. Thorn looked at her confused and saw that Cloudberry wanted to answer him, but couldn't. Cloudberry flattened her ears and looked upset. Thorn could guess why and looked down.

"I…I'm sorry. I know your sister's death was hard and…" he meowed.

"It's not that. It's just…Lightkit." Cloudberry meowed.

"Your nephew? What does he have to do with this?" Thorn asked confused.

"I don't know, Doespring told me of a prophecy, that light and dark would rule the forest, but if a white stone crushes the dark, then light will choose the path of light or dark." Cloudberry explained.

"And this has something to do with Lightkit?" Thorn guessed.

"Before Frostydawn died, she told me of three omens: a daisy wilting from a white light, a snake dying from the white light, and a white stone somehow melting from the white light. I can't help but think it has something to do with Snaketooth, Daisypetal, and Whitestar." Cloudberry continued.

"Ah, I see." Thorn nodded.

"And then Frostydawn told me about the nightmares. Three cats were all killed, one by poison, the other from battle wounds, and another from a badger." Cloudberry finished.

Thorn understood and nodded, he could see why Cloudberry was worried; if something like that was told to him, he too would be worried. But if he had to guess, the dreams, omens, and the prophecy meant that change would be coming, but he wasn't sure if it would be good or bad. Thorn hoped it would be good, then he could finally be with Cloudberry and they wouldn't have to be afraid of getting caught. He looked up at the sky and smiled.

"The way I see it, it sounds like change is coming." He meowed.

"What makes you so sure, how can this be change?" Cloudberry asked confused.

"Change can come in two ways, it can come on peaceful terms or violent terms." Thorn meowed.

Cloudberry realized that he had a point and smiled. She was glad to have someone like Thorn to help her; even if the slaves, the anti-slave cats, or Doespring were her friends, she was grateful to have loved a cat like Thorn. Cloudberry laid her head on Thorn's chest and purred. So much has happened to her these past few moons and she was grateful to have someone she could talk to and share her problems with from outside the clan.

"I don't know what I would do without you, Thorn. I lost my sister, but I have you. I hope change does come to Lightclan, then we could finally be together. I love you." Cloudberry meowed.

Thorn smiled and laid his head on top of hers. Nothing would make him happier than to be with Cloudberry and to live with her in Lightclan; when dark-pelt cats were not slaves anymore.

"I love you too." Thorn purred.
